Okay so i'm a new user with a HTC Fuze and i haven't customized it yet, just added a few tweaks. The first thing I noticed about this phone is that it's battery life is too short. I have "locked" data with AT&T to not get extra charges so i'm not connecting to Media Net and it still consumes a lot of battery.
I went out of my house at 2:30pm with 100% and kept texting people in a 1 hour bus trip (round trip) so 2 hours in total using the device and when I got home the battery was half-way gone.
I bet i could spend the battery of this phone in less than 20 minutes -> activate flash led + music in the background + wifi + bluetooth + 3g + texting at the same time / browsing internet.
Well after looking for tweaks and whatnot this is deff the best solution (however, a little expensive) for this phone:

It's a 3000mAh battery. (Regular HTC brings a 1340mAh stock)
It costs 89.99$ (free shipping)
So for anyone interested in increasing their battery by the double, and even a bit more than the stock phone that's your best solution. If you combine this with a few tweaks your phone will be able to work moderate-high use for more than 15 hours.
PS. Another solution that i found is a portable charger (AA battery size) that you can connect to your device anywhere at anytime. You can perform almost 2 FULL charges with only 1 battery.
I have no problem getting at least two or three days out of a single charge. Stock ROM with the TF3D garbage scrubbed and replaced with SPB. Haven't disabled the 3G either, and it downloads my email every 5 minutes. I'm not otherwise a heavy internet user, though it sounds like I use it more than you. I maybe talk on it for 20 or 30 minutes a day.
I understand 100% what you mean. I do a fair amount of texting, but usually a full day, and by the end of the day (if the battery lasts that long), my battery is completely gone. Texting really does take up a lot of battery from the phone, and there isn't any way around it. Although some roms take up more battery than others (energy), and some take less (ROMeOS), your still gonna suck a lot of your battery by texting. I thought about that battery as well a while back, but after thinking about it, I decided that I really don't want to make my tp any thicker than it already is.
Install Advanced Config and take a look at the power options.. Advanced Config is a must have for Windows Mobile Phones.
After one hour of nonstop texting I have about 90% battery left. I would suggest to go with a different ROM.

No, the battery is the same shape as the default one.
It just has more capacity, your phone will look the same.
Nope, not true, the Mugen Super Extended battery comes with a custom replacement back door !

i hang my Fuze off my belt, so i think a little more thickness is worth it if i'm going far away from my charger...
might as well call it HTC Brick after you put that cover on it
I found s2u2 to be a massive batt drain on my fuze running current attsom. I was using 80-90 % of the batt in 9 hours. uninstalled s2u2, now using about 45% in 9-10 hours. Bummer, because I really liked ac's program. I think there must be some conflict with the att rom.

My 4-5 days out of my Touch pro. Granted I don't use at all for voice, but browse the web over wifi (~1hr daily), watch movies and play games. Wifi is on most of the time and I get a lot of emails over the day.
One of the worst battery hogs I had was Fring. The reason was it stopped the phone from entering sleep and kept the data connection open at all times, but still would just shorten the bat life to 2 days.
Mind you, that's on a custom rom (Energy Rom).

I've removed notifications from apps, uninstalled google+, exchanged my battery with Verizon, and I'm still getting under 6 hours with moderate use using my stock phone.

I was able to correct my battery issue recently, however, there is no guaranteed fix and if there is, I haven't fount it.
Also, I'm not running a stock Charge, so you can't really compare your Charge to mine.

I would think there is a problem w/ the phone. Mine lasts all day (17-18hrs) 1.5-2hrs screen on time, handfull of phone calls and texts, notifications and widgets refreshing. Usually there is between 10 and 35% remaining when I plug in for the night.
I get great battery life. Here are the requirements(lol).
1)Humble(battery saving ROM)
2)Juicedefender(If you like the free app you may want to buy Ultimate, its kinda pricy but I think it's worth it)
3)Always charge your phone with the power off, it gives it a full charge.
4)Possibly the most important step is to ALWAYS task kill and clear RAM after you're done with an app(phone comes with Task Manger pre-installed. Hitting the home key does NOT close the app it just puts it in standby meaning it can keep your phone from sleeping(Kills battery life) and with it running in the background is just killing even more battery life.
Follow the above steps and I can('t) guarantee you great battery life. I say can('t) because I don't want to get hate if it for some reason doesn't work for you :] Enjoy!

+1 for that...
Humble Froyo is the longest lasting ROM/kernel imho, I can last all day with heavy usage.
Shut GPS off. For some reason, my GPS keeps refreshing at incredibly tight intervals (sub 5 minutes). Haven't figured out what program is causing that, but as soon as I shut GPS off until I need to use it, I've gone from 6-8 hours of battery life to easily 15-18.
I've tried humble for 2 days and I barely get 5 hours, but due to difficulties, the rom was not installed when my battery was at 100%. I plan on trying again tonight. Thanks for the advice about GPS. I usually turn it off, but I find myself using maps and yelp to find local places.

FYI, Juicedefender did not play nice with my phone (worked fine on my OG droid). It would work fine in a solid 4g area, but in fringe areas the data would not come back and I would have to reboot to get it back. Since removing JD I have never had a problem with no data.

I had the exact same experience with Juice Defender. Feeling annoyed that I ended up shelling out for the Ultimate version in the hopes it might work better and it doesn't.
I get mediocre battery life...about 10-12 hours with moderate usage...nowhere near the 20+. I'll have to give it a shot for turning off GPS to see if that resolves anything.
GPS is a huge battery hog. Put the power control widget on your home screen do you can control gps wifi etc from one shortcut.

juice defender has been working fine on my phone (however i am rarely in 4g unless i am working so i usually have 4g turned off with 4g switch). My battery has lasted forever i am currently on hour 25 with little to moderate use and about 64 percent battery left.
before i turned 4g off and installed juice defender i would get around 10 to 12 hours of battery life on my phone.

Which 4g switch would you recommend? I'm trying the LTE Switch by buttercrumbs for free since the others either cost 99 cents or don't work with the Charge.
Edit: Looks like LTE Switch doesn't have a widget. It'd be nice if there was a one-click solution. LTE switch takes 3-4 clicks to switch between CDMA and LTE.

lte switch was the one i used it was the simplest i have seen.
also i am still going on the battery up to 1 day 15 hours 12 min and 28 sec with 21 percent battery left. will post a screenshot later when the battery gets a little lower.
I am now glad i got rid of the thunderbolt with these settings on the thunderbolt i still only made it one day tops.
Fellow MT4GS users,
How is your battery lasting you? I'm coming from a MT4G, even though I eventually modded it, and it I used to get at least a full day and have to charge that night at the worst unless I really heavily used it.
My MT4GS has been lasting me half a day or so before I get into the yellow/red and I'm usually charging before the sun goes down.
My main culprit according to the built in battery indicator is display at 65% (I'm on automatic brightness)
Just over 10 hours today for me before I had to charge.
ps- Anyone know how to remove the annoying low power notifications? I'm getting two pop ups in a row.
Yeah mine generally lasts about 14 hours at moderate usage, but it's only been 2 days, and I remember when I got the MyTouch 4G it died on me while I was still at work and then after a week or so it got much better...
Yeah, I can agree with you there I think my MT4G was a little wonky the first week or so. We'll see how it goes.

Only lasting 6 hours yesterday ....
My battery lasted about 33 hours. After the 1st full charge. So way better than my other phones have done. This wasnt heavy usage though. No videos or music just a few calls, lots of emails and some web browsing.
One problem I am having is low call volume. My videos and music are perfectly loud, just the call volume sucks.

Well make sure, your phones screen brightness is on low. Also make sure wifi, gps, bluetooth are off. Also make sure you kill some of the apps you ran on a task manager. just gotta find ways to keep the battery life up.
Well when I first got the phone, I didnt charge it until it was almost dead. Then fully charged it.
Also I turned off GPS, WiFi ect. I also use task manager to kill background programs that I don't need or want running.
We will see if the battery life goes down after a few weeks. Sometimes they take time to normalize.
Oh what task you ended and what task manger you used?

I appreciate the help but the logic is off. This is the latest ..and i stress smartttphone. It is supsupposed to be used as such. Bluetooth ..4g..music...video calling..maps..etc.. if u use of of these features six hours it will last. If you use them all try maybe 4 hours. Plus those boxes are annoying when the batterly is low. This phone has got to be rooted.

I'm gonna have to agree with that one, that's pretty much no different than saying buy a car but don't drive it so you can save gas lol
I have gotten to around 12 hours or more now. Still moderate overall but heavier browser usage.
I do not kill tasks or turn off wifi, gps or anything. My brightness is auto.
I uninstalled the recent maps update because I saw where G2 users seem to think the recent update is draining their battery so I wondered if it could maybe be causing issues here too.
Anyways my battery life has gotten into the acceptable range and that was all I really did other than have more days to monitor it.

This appears to be the same battery that is in the Sensation 4G according to Google.
For us this is good because Ebay and Amazon are already flooded with replacement batteries.
We need to find a higher capacity mAh battery but with the same size as to not make us have to get a replacement back. This shouldn't be that hard.
My old phone has a smaller battery with a higher mAh capacity so the battery in the myTouch 4G Slide is an utter disappointment. They could have easily produced a 3000 mAh battery for this beast of a phone.
Edit: Found a 1900 mAh battery for only 9.99.

Screen is on the least bright setting. I'm an ex blackberry user and dont even have one app. I could care less about apps. I'm charging every 5 hours and thats sometimes from just it sitting around/ not even using the phone. The thing better get it's act together. I'm starting to like the keyboard too but I'm up at 5am and if im charging at noon that's terrible. Especially with minimal use.

Weird I live in small city and 4G is crazy fast. When I get to a big city like Baltimore, Maryland the 4G was slow. My thoughts are there too many people on the 4G network. T-Mobile did promised us double the 4G speed and they need more Towers too.
~
For the first couple days, my battery life was awful. I'd be getting low-bat notifications when I got home from an 8-hour day at work.
But of course that's always the case with new phones that haven't even had the settings tweaked...
- Placed a Wifi toggle widget on the homepage and turn it off every day after leaving home for work in the morning.
- Ensured certain programs and updates were not running in the background automatically:
~ Turned off Autosync on accounts (manual only)
~ Turned off autoupdates for weather
~ No Bluetooth, GPS, Wifi, unless turned on for a specific reason
~ Enabled power efficiency and power saver modes (30%)
~ Disabled Always-on data connection
~ Disabled auto-updates in various apps (Friendcaster, IM+ Pro, etc.)
- Turned the screen off when not in use
Today I'm at 40% after 14 hours of mixed use. I'd say that's DAMN good.
By the way, for those seeing the whole "Autosync off" thing and thinking that you can't do it, just do it. I don't get my work email or personal email on my phone unless I tell it to and it's utterly awesome. Less stress. Less looking at my phone constantly. It feels free and just plain great. And I used to be superconnected 24/7 syncing every 5 minutes (if push wasn't available).
Ok guys, I'm writing this just out of my excitement and will need further investigation and testing but so far that is what happened:

Allright --> 34 hours on with the ORIGINAL Htc battery from 91% to 15% !! Unbelivable!
Off course the usage has been quite light:
- ALWAYS Wi-Fi + GSM on except while sleeping (I usually keep the phone on flight mode)
- I had a few calls over wi-fi (let's say about 30min)
- I answered to some messages (let's say 20) both over 3G and wi-fi
- I played 45 min of random games (mostly Apparatus)
- I used FB for about 1 hour
- I browsed for about 25min
- I used eBay app for about 10min
Usually I have a moderate use and I hardly can get through the day without charging (I try to keep the phone as much away from the charger as I can..) and this is why yesterday I ordered a 3rd part 1900mAh battery (I'm giving it a shot with the Anker one)
However..what I did (that I usually don't) was simply chargin the phone from the USB of my PC instead then plugging it into the wall socket..! I know it takes forever to have a full charge from the PC..and that is why I never did it before...!
So..I don't know if it was the "different source of energy"but otherwise I have NO idea why it should have lasted that long!
I'm going to charge it right now for the second time from my PC to see if all the above were just bullshits or have any sense wish me good luck..will report back tomorrow or hopefully the day after!

Well, I said it was gonna need more testing out of it...but you didn'nt mention anything in your post...so...couold you be a little more explicative?
- Did you charge it on the USB port of your PC?
- How and how much did you use your phone over these almost 9 hours?
Also I see we run different Roms and this can be a very important variable too...to be tested properly this "trick" should be run over devices as similar as possible and with a similar usage otherwise there is no point to test it
Here is one more screenshot of the battery life I had:

There is actually some truth to this method. A slow charge will get you longer battery life but a fast charge will allow it to discharge faster. They both will have the same capacity though. Don't ask me why this is but that's how lithium batteries work. I know this from my RC car days.
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk
This is completely expected because of one single thing you do: you use airplane mode. Putting your phone on airplane mode when you're at work or school or not using it for whatever reason will save you TONS of battery.
I've been advising ppl to do this since forever but most don't bother. It's just one tap on/off with a widget. Great to see you getting extra juice out of it this way.
a couple of days ago I got my best results of battery life well on a sense based ROM! on stock battery. insert coin ftw

Anyway, i dont think i can do what the OP done by turning on flight mode. Im an engineer, and my working place running 24hours, which meaning i have to be always standby 24hour even during sleep if my service required by my working place..haha..what can i do...

this is what I got from original battery with latest IC Rom
Moderate use, just when i need it, stock rom, stock battery. Mobile internet always on, sync off except weather and gmail.
Putting it on flightmode doesn't work for everyone. You know, people get calls every so often. Being available is the reason of having a phone, right?
By the way, the stats you are seeing are most likely a result of bad calibration. The Sensation has a pretty decent battery life to begin with.

Well HAVING to be available 24h due to a job shift is quite understandable...but WANTING to be is a completely different thing IMHO ..I never put it on flight mode unless I'm sleeping: and I can expect almost everybody to want to sleep while sleeping so..flight mode during your sleeping ours is a good way indeed to save a good ammount of juice from being drained with no reason
That said my second run was not that extraordinary..I had a nice 27 hours and a half run from 100% to 15% ...wich is still good but surely not exciting as my first run..!
Here some pics:
and
As usual: light use and flight mode during the night...
I'll be reporting the result of this with the Anker one ASAP...but it will take me at least one week to "condition" the battery and get some reliable results out of the tests..!
What kind of use are people getting out of their OneS batteries?
I've had my phone for just under a week and have run it through 3 or 4 full charge/discharge cycles.
Phone is running stock firmware. Last charge lasted ~36 hours with the screen using the most power.
I'd be interested to know what other people are seeing?
I get around 18 - 24 hours battery, depending on how i use it...
Battery life is epic on this phone Ive yet to see someone complain about it

Just got mine yesterday, could you let me know how to find the option best WLAN Signal? Is it the one in the Advanced Wi-Fi called "Best Wi-Fi performance"?

Yup. Turn it off.
im have an imported international one s on att in nyc and i only get maybe 10-12 hours i use it fairly oftern but no videos or calls. i get no where near 24 or even 18 hours like i need.
12-20 hours.
That includes about 2 hours of off-screen streaming while commuting, 8-10 hours WiFi on, 2-4 hours games and surfing, 10-15 minutes calls and a dozen or so messages.
My last charge was at about 25% after 16 hours, and usage pattern as described. Screen is on auto brightness and consuming about 60%.
Anyone else? My battery life is exceptionally bad took the phone with me to the park 4hrs of listening to music with maybe an hours worth of web browsing and 30 of those minutes taking pictures the phone is dead

That doesn't strike me as exceptionally bad but rather merely less than average. An hour of web browsing is going to use a lot of battery in itself. Do you use the Beats enhancements too when listening to music? Bet that drains some battery.
its exceptionally bad in comparison to what everyone e else is reporting about this phone. and the battery is one of the reasons i chose this over the one x. my phone also keeps switching between h and 3g. im on ATT on an imported MAO
First charge and usage was; A few texts, 10-20 min of video, fair amount of browsing, installing lots of apps, tweaking and changing everything about, GPS, camera etc. and brightness was at 70-85% brightness for about 1-2 hours and dropped to 50% for the rest of the time, however, I didn't have my SIM in for the first hour of use (testing the mobile first to make sure it worked ok), wifi was on constantly as well.
Second charge and usage was; the same as above but a fair bit more browsing was done and a few games (angry birds and ROM emulators) and brightness was at 50% the entire time, plus this time the SIM was in for the entire time.

really good battery life, after a day of calls, bit of gaming, couple camera shots, with sync on, fb etc, battery is at 50% - 60% ,
I reckon i could get 2 days easy if i was economical, but 1 day easy with heavy use.
The screen will always have the highest usage so really battery stats are somewhat useless without sharing screen on time..

I highly, highly doubt that. Beats, correct me if I'm wrong, is just an "improvement" of the audio frequencies. An automagical DSP.
Without particularly trying to save power my battery is lasting 36 hours or so.
By far the biggest drain is the screen, currently at 65% of power drawn. Wifi is second with 7%. Considering that wifi has been on more or less constantly for the period this is pretty impressive.
I could probably push battery life to 2 days if I replaced live wallpaper with black background and reduced screen brightness generally. It's hard to know what else to do though.

There has to be some processing going on somewhere, that was my logic. Happy to stand corrected tho.
I got question regarding to battery and charging...
How it would affect battery, if I would charge it every day while driving 1h (it wont get fully charged if empty). Would it affect it badly in time?
i get about down to 30-35% at the end of the day with light web use, gmail, maybe a short phone call, and a bit of GPRS hunting when the signal is not that good. I just installed the power manager to see if there is any real use of it...
Mate...I've always disputed the battery andusic thing..your guaranteed to run out faster..I know it has that function and beats etc..but I pods or mp3 players do a much better job in every department and don't waste your phone battery. I'm getting a day and a half and I'm a fairly heavy user..I play the odd game. Text a lot to my wife lol..and surf the web. Its all about what your using...
One plus side..I use free beats earphones on my iPod and it sounds fing amazing.

Do the cases and general heat from keeping the phone in the pocket have any affect on the battery life?
sent using HTC1S
Running Stock ICS 4.1.2 on Nexus S i9020A on AT&T US.
The battery was fine till about a few months back, but of late, it is draining @ around 8-10% per hour on standby!. I originally thought JB was causing the drain, and switched to ICS, and finally to GB. But the drain is consistent across all three.
There is also accelerated battery drain if my phone is completely switched off. If I leave the battery in the phone after powering off, the battery goes from 100 - 0 in less than 4 hours. Thinking the battery might have gone bad, I bought another oem battery, but that is exhibiting the same behavior.
This leads me to think there might be a hardware issue with my phone. I am tired of keeping the phone plugged in at all times, and am ready to throw this out the window and get another phone. As a last ditch effort, I wanted to post this here to see if I can get any kind of feedback/confirmation on this before I buy another phone. Other users are reporting 1-2% battery drain on standby, so 8-10% drain is unacceptable by any standard.
I have attached some screenshots from today when the battery was at 20% after about 9 hours. For this test, I did the following last night:
1. uninstalled all apps I downloaded
2. turned off WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, sync, auto brightness ( set to the minimum brightness)
I charged the phone fully, and then left it on standby, with minimal usage - I think I made a 2 minute call, checked my email once, and read some rss feeds for about 5 minutes in the 9 hours I tested it.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I know I'm not giving any advice here but I just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. No matter what ROM GB/ICS/JB I lose too much battery per hour with the phone just on standby. There's no explanation for %10 battery drain per hour with pretty much everything off (wifi, data, gps, nfc, background data, etc)
I have tried everything and now I must admit I've given up. I'm just going to ride out CM 10.1 until I can decide on a new phone, most likely the Nexus 4 or HTC One.

Bro, just replace the battery, buy a new one!
Doesn't seem like a software issue to me, sadly.
That confirms my suspicion. I guess it is time to start looking for a new phone. Thanks!

Yeah, your phone doesn't seem to be doing much while asleep. 20 minutes screen on, 35 minutes active, yet battery down to 21%. My battery would be at 90% with that sort of usage. Since you changed the battery (I'll assume it's a decent quality battery, although a cheap battery could be in cause), there's not much left.
Have you tried switching 3G off? 3G seems to SUCK the life out of these Nexus S batteries like no tomorrow.
But I suspect it's a hardware issue with the Nexus S phones. I have WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G and auto-sync all shut off and a static wallpaper and I will lose 20% of my battery in 7-8 hours.
Battery is kernel related. Try changing your I/o scheduler to row and governor to smartassv2. If you don't have those options then look for a kernel that does...air kernel and matrix should suffice.
NO SOLUTION so far
A friend was having the same issue, gave him the battery of my nexus s ... it lasted him for 7-8hrs max whereas it gives me 1 day~ on 2G and normal use without gaimng . So my guess like his mobile your mobile may have some component which is short and draining out the battery . I have been trying to look around for answer but so far no luck. So better check it with another batteryif you can before purchasing a new one.
Vampire test
If anyone is investigating why their Nexus S suddenly starts draining the battery in a matter of hours, BEFORE spending a ton of time (like I did) trying to diagnose what software problem you might have, do the vampire test, as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42586314
I wasted days before coming across this test on this forum, and it proved it had to be a hardware fault.
I have two healthy batteries, both hold a charge for days (probably weeks) when not inserted in the phone, but pop one in the phone, leave it powered off, and within 6 hrs it's dead. So frustrating, and sad to see this phone go.
