Which is the best player to view video in high resolution without to convert them or stuff like that!
I already overclocked it on 1.5 GHz but i can not play 1280x720 videos fluently!
I heard that the SGS 2 can play 1920 fluently out of the box, dont know if its true!
I'm currently on 3.0.1! Is there a difference on 3.1?
Hi oaz1,
Did you make high profile video work OK now? I am also very interested to make at least 720p high profile video work on my Xoom.
Have you tried Tiamat Kernel with both CPU and GPU overclock? Are you using software or hardware video decoding?
FYI, I am running stock 3.2 image.

I've been using mx video player. It plays 720p files without a problem.
Buy dice player...
Install Mobo Player and QQ Player, and then buy Dice Player, it plays high profile 720p H264 without a hitch. You can also use XenonMKV to convert the audio in your high profile videos (without re-encoding video) and play them back in the stock player without issues. Takes about 15 minutes to convert and rebuild a 2 hour movie on my laptop, video is untouched in the process. I did that once, but it's much easier (and well worth the ~$5) to buy Dice Player.
From sd:
Whats the current common way to play 720p mkv with AC3 Audio.
I either get good video with no sound (hw decode) or choppy video with sound (sw decode)
i tried moboplayer, default player and rockplayer (i think)
the only player that plays it properly is diceplayer but its a 3 day trial.
Is there no easy way to play a 720p/ac3 video?
Streaming:
I have a 300mbit wireless at home, works perfectly with laptop<->desktop
No matter what i try with the eee pad, videoplayback is choppy when streaming it.
i tried mynet and those 2 other upnp clients that are out there using ps3mediaserver on my desktop (ushare, gmediaserver were not "seen" from the eee pad)
Whats the current common way to stream media?
Is there a way to play from nfs share at all? Or at least samba?
greetings

If you want to root your device, cifs is pretty common and reliable.
Revolver and Prime both include this feature as part of their rom. I don't have any experience with other roms.
Also, I switched to using mxplayer, i like how it has the ability to switch rendering modes from the play screen.
Thanks for the cif thingie, i am going to look that up.
MX player wont play ac3 audio in hw decode :/
For playback buy dice placer from the market. There is no better app for videos.
Streaming and watching HD videos is very difficult. Tegra 2's Videodecoder is very average at best. When you copy something to your device the android is using the cpu. For HD Videos with High Profile you need nearly all cpu power of the Tegra 2. When you streaming at the same time, you can run in performance and transfer problems because of the 1000Mhz. So you should overclock the cpu for a better experience.
Whenever I try to play 1080p videos on my phone they lag significantly for about a minute and eventually the player crashes.
I used Rock Player Light and the default Video player included with Ninja (ROM).
Any ideas as to what the issue could be?
i use mobo player it plays 1080p perfectly..if u still have problems overclock to 1.2ghz and set performance mode ONLY WHILE UR PLAYING THE VIDEO u can keep it clocked at 1.2 ghz but use some other governor like ondemand, performance will suck up ir battery..
Idk about 1080p but I have Mobo Video Player Pro and my 720p mkv and mp4 videos play perfectly.

720p plays perfectly on my phone as well, I just don't want to have to convert all my 1080p things to 720p every time I want to put them on my phone. I'm about to try overclocking it, hopefully it'll work out. If not, i'll stick to 720.
Is there any video player for Samsung Galaxy R that can play 720p H264 videos with high profile of encoding [like any TV series release that can be found on the web]? I heard that Tegra2 is not really good with such kind of videos, but i really did not have any luck with finding any program that can play them back [they all stutter badly].
Also, if no solution can be found, can you recommend me some pc server/android client that can transcode that type of videos and stream them over the wifi?
Thanks.
DICE Player, MX Video Player. In my play very smoothly, without jamming.

You could be one of the five tries this option :
MoboPlayer
Any respectable discussion about free media players will honestly not be complete without mentioning Moboplayer, as it has been one of the most popular free media players out there for quite a bit of time now. MoboPlayer supports a lot of the video file formats that are rampant in the Internet, including ones that your device might not normally support, this through a feature called software decoding. The player itself also supports multiple audio tracks, subtitles – even multiple onscreen subtitles, and media streaming to media and home entertainment servers. The player takes some time in opening HD video files – especially 1080p ones – but it is rarely more than 3 seconds. With our Samsung Galaxy S3 Alpha (SC-03E) test bed – 4.8-inch 1280x720 screen, 1.6Ghz Exynos processor, Mali-400MP graphics, 2GB RAM – there was no visible lag opening a 1080p MP4 file.

MX Player
One of the more substantial free media players out there, great for general purpose video viewing, is MX Player. Using this app, you get a feeling that the developers chose to put in just that right balance between ease-of-use and robust features. The video viewer itself is sleek and logical, and the app supports most popular formats. For better format support, there is a codec download available, both from the developers, or you may choose to use any other codecs out there. There are gestures galore, and pinch-to-zoom. You have access to subtitle options, aspect ratio control and other stuff just from the main screen, while a lot more tweaks can be discovered in the settings menu. No lagging on this one as well, the software and hardware decoding holds up well. And since this is a free version, there will be ads, but the experience was altogether unobtrusive and tolerable.

Vplayer
Vplayer is a simple approach to a media playing. It lacks the bells and whistles of most premium players and even like Moboplayer and MX Player, but if you want a straight up video player, this is one of the “lighter” media players out there. It supports the common file formats, and then some. Vplayer will also detect all your folders that contain video files and display them in folder view, but there are no ways of filtering or organizing your content. One of the cool things about Vplayer is that it lets you copy and paste links out of Youtube and Vimeo and play them on Vplayer.

DicePlayer
DicePlayer is another feature filled player that leverages on a streamlined and uncluttered viewing window, with some straight up features available. When viewing your movie, the controls for view lock, playback speed controller, audio track and subtitle support, and aspect ratio adjustment is immediately available. DicePlayer even has controls for subtitle sync calibration, for those times when annoying subtitles are just not synced with your movie file. Finally, Dice Network playback support allows users to push their device-based media to media servers and home networks over Samba filesharing, FTP, and other such processes.

BSPlayer
Our last media player on this list is definitely not the least of them all, as the BSPlayer is a solid all around media app as well. Robust to the core, BSPayer offers software and hardware decoding in what seems to be a pretty uncluttered viewing pane – and we do realize that an uncluttered and simple viewing pane is one of our main considerations in a video player. One of the major selling points for the BSPlayer is that it lets you customize the interface to your liking with a variety of skins available. The app has support for subtitles, even built-in subtitles in video container files such as MKVs. As an added feature, the BSPlayer can even automatically find subtitles for your files online – very neat. The BSPlayer also has a “pop-out viewer” where you can keep your video on top of any app you may be running at the moment. As with everything here.
