Hey all,
I understand that when setting up your email you can chose that when you delete emails it either deletes them off the server or just off the device.. what im wondering is.. is there a way that we can have it similar to the blackberry? like when you select to delete an email it gives you an option of deleting it off your handheld and mailbox or just your handheld.
That way for junk emails that you want deleted straight away you can just totally delete them so they dont show up on your pc aswell without always having to go in a changing the settings?
Is this possible at all?
Thank you!

Hi could some one please help me delete some old partnerships in activesync, I use windows XP and activesync 3.7.1, everything works fine, but as i keep installing crap on my old XDA and also the new XDA-2 i oftern hard reset and then reinstall new or different programs.
The problem is each time i do this i have to make a new name for the partnership, i.e john-xda, john_xda, johns-xda etc etc, i have about 20 existing names listed , I know this is not the end of the world but it is anoying, and when you go to send a file via IR or BT from the laptop up comes a list of at least 20 old xda partnership names to choose from.
Please any ideas how to delets all of them apart from the one thats currently in use
Thanks
John
have you tried under activesync ? would seem logic to make it possible to delete partnerships from there
otherwise you can delete the folder made by the patnership under
my documents
Thanks for the ideas, I have looked in activesync but there are no options there to delete them, I have deleted the folders in my documents ( and the desk top short cuts to them) but when i try and send a file i still get shown the list of 20 plus names to send to, but the real problem is you cant use the same name twice.
thanks for trying tho
john
have you tried doing a search in regedit on the pc
it would be a typical place to store them
Go to ActiveSync while there's no device plugged in. Then select 'File', "Delete Partnership' until they're all gone.
Thanks Peter thak worked fine, i had looked in activesync but this was with a device connected.
thanks for bot of you for your help

is it possible to 're-link' the old partnership with an XDA after a hard reset?
b
why would you want to ?
you can still use the same name
you can still get access to all the files
you can still get access to the backup
so then why do you want the get the old patnership ?
just thought it might be easier than deleting the old partnership and creating a new one.
Also, do you know if the SMS messages are stored when the XDA syncs up? If so, how do I get the back onto my phone after a hard reset?
Cheers,
B
Old Partnership
If when you delete the partnership you answer no to delete files and the XDA has the same name the new partnership will use the same link area (/my documents/pocketpcXXmy documents)
ah HA! Awesome. But do you know about the text messages (SMS)?
B
Hi. If you had a partnership with your pc when you first synchonized and now you hard-reset your device, you might want to delete the old partnership if you don't need its documents anymore. That could be done in a very easy way even when the device is not connected. the steps are:
-Turn on pc
-double click active sync incon without connecting the device
-go to file>mobile device and select the partnership's name you wanna delete, when selected a big black dot will appear next to it.
-then file>delete parnership
Done!
Fantastic!! Although that still doesn't really answer my question

you cant sync sms's back if you took a backup and restore it you get the sms back or if you used the tool at yorch.net
when i delete messages inside pocket outlook they also get erased on the server (in the web application), this is quite annoying because i get a lot of emails and dont want them all on my phone so i delete some of them, but then i might need them again because they contain order reference numbers or sth. similar. any possibility to keep them on the server?

Ok i currently use a verizon xv6800,
And have activesync set up to sync with my exchange 2003 server.
It works great, my one only question is, is there anyways, that anybody knows, to be able to Permanently delete messages from my inbox (Like doing a Shift+Delete) on my desktop. When i delete on my WM device it moves the message into the deleted items, theres gotta be a way to permanently delete a message from the mobile device.. please tell me theres a way
thanks
fred
unfortunately emails go to trash when you delete them.. you can't avoid it using standard measures.. if there's an app for it I'm not familiar with... you might be able to find it if you searched hard enough thru the forum.
worst case, you can request a developer here to build one.. i don't think it should be too complicated
Hi guys,
Basically I am trying to selectively restore my Boss' Touch Pro, I just want to get the email settings and e-mails across to the new phone he has. I have searched through the registry and the files trying to find where the account settings are held but alas I have had no luck. Does anyone have this nugget of information?
I need to transfer the actual emails and the e-mail account settings.
Use PIM backup to get the e-mails easily (also will get contacts, speed dials, txts etc etc - but you can select what to backup / restore)
E-mail account settings can be dragged out of registry Like this But what e-mail settings do you need? normally things like that are easier to just re-input if its only a 1 off occurence.
A quick look through the mail account settings should give you all the login info you need (except the password)
ok, thats cool, I reckon I can handle that. I actually want any and all e-mail settings because the amount that my boss wants me to install new roms for him to try out means that I don't want to keep re-inputting his details into the phone. I would ideally want all information in sepperate restorable cabs or reg entries. problem with the backup software I am using is that it takes all of the software as well, so when I restore it to a newly flashed phone it restores all the crap from the previous phone...tre frustrating.
and yeah, this is a strange problem, I personally stick with a single firmware instead of jumping about...but I'm not the boss
If you're gonna be flashing roms, check out UC (in the hacking thread) or shashmi. Both should let you personalise the "post flash" install so you get the device back to how you like it quickly & easily.
Is there already a good thread somewhere to seek out some help in configuring K9 Email or should I just post here?

Currently configured for POP mail not IMAP (Comcast/Xfinity).
Have it set to sync so that when email is downloaded to my PC and no longer on Comcast's servers that K9 will auto delete/remove those messages from my Inbox.
I just want to know the following:
1) like on my old blackberry can I flag a message as Saved so that unless I manually delete it is saved? If so, how? If not, then can I create a saved or archive folder and manually move them there? If so, how? If not what do you suggest as an alternative?
2) If I accidentally delete a message it immediately moves to trash (and I think immediately sends a delete command to Comcast's servers). How can I undelete a message or manually move it from trash back to inbox?
3) How can I manually create folders and move messages between folders?
4) Please explain the whole folder level thing, i.e. Level 1, Level 2, etc.
THANKS!
