[Question] How to determine LCD screen cable? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

1. My magician LCD screen a bit buggy now, i need to re-align it few times a day.
I want to replace it but when i search for a new screen, i found that there are 3 different types of them ( black cable type, yellow cable type, green cable type).
I kinda confuse how to determine what type of my LCD screen is.
Anybody knows?
2. Should i change all the LCD screen or Can i just replace only the touch screen?
Does anyone know how to replace the touch screen?

in reality there two LCM Samsung and Topolly.
they are not interchangeable.

I see... but the seller told me to tell them which type of cable.. i just opened my magician and i found the cable is yellow but the cable that connect the lcd to the main board is black. =.=

Hey my friend,I think you just want to change a Touch Screen,NOT a LCD Screen, right?
They are different things,Touch Screen was a Resistance component that above LCD Screen.
Magician use the 4-pin Touch Screen,it was an interchangeable component with different type of LCD Screen, didn't care it was Golden,Black or else.

Errr... i haven't replace it yet... but the cable that attached to mainboard is black, the other is yellow/gold.

It is Golden type.
It is determine by the whole color of cable, not care by cable connector.

I see... thx... i already found the lcd but i haven't bought it yet...
so xiaojin & cotulla, did you upgrade your ram to 128? is it worth it to upgrade it? because in my country it's like 35 USD.

I have successfully upgraded to 128M,but it is a very dangerous job.
Before upgrade I can use 18M Free RAM only, but now I can use 80M Free RAM,so I think it is worth to upgrade if you still want to use Magician for many years.

Got a Problem with the screen (Very Unhappy)

Hello all, i have myself an 02 XDA Exec, but during the light of a soft reset
the screen is now working with fault
it looks like there is some sort of high contrast or the in could be bleading on the inside, but the touch feature works, will display pictures
Notice how the screen has different shades, but also patches in the corners of the screen, as ive mentioned the touch sensetivity works fine but the screen looks to be a bit pixelated and and in a different sort of contrast (i am currently reading up on the dis-assembly of it so if its something internal please say something about it)
and no i havnt banged it, smashed it, tried beating it up etc, i honestly dont know whats happened to it.

this is my today screen after a hard reset, basic windows mobile default, look at the different tones of colouring, the sort of slashes across the screen and the shades in the corner of the screen, and im not sure why, although i dont think it really can be ink bleading as when the phone is turned off the screen is as it should be, just off.
Now i will try out the camera on both sides, from the phone and from my camera
Camera's Side
Notice how the screen is in a sort of negative/contrasted style, not one im enjoying thats for sure, but coming from the phone the results are different
Exec Camera
notice how the camera still processes the image properly
which leads me to believe something is wrong with the screen
maybe some part of the frame is being pressed against it or something like that
i will be monitoring this thread closely and please help
With Many Thanks
Exemike
Does it have this pink tint in reality too? (not only on the shots?)
If it does (and a hard reset doesn't help), then, one of the color transfer wires may be dead or have "only" developed a contact error (or, plainly, they have just been removed from their socket. This happened a lot with other models.)
That is, I'm pretty much sure it's a cheaply fixable problem. Try disassembling your casing and try to rearrange the wires.
pink/purple tint, but the screen apears in perfect shape
any guides on getting into the screen,
thanks very much.

Because warranty service in Bulgaria until now no change is digitizer. They just do not know how to change this part. What do you advise me to do?
...In Bulgaria there is no representation of HTC.
I would call HTC and ask them what to do. I'm sure you could send it to them!
Can't you just take off the front isn't only just stuck there with double sided tape ?
I replaced the touchscreen in my Touch Dual and the hardest part was to find the right part after a hopeless and unhelpful ebay seller sent me the wrong part (still waiting for my refund) Once I got the correct part it was about 30mins work to swap it. I used double sided tape as the replacement parts don;t come with a gasket. I just cut my own and it stuck fine. Make sure you place parts together in stages of dis assembly as there's a few and some of the screws look the same but have different threads. I would have thought the diamond would be easier as it has no moving parts. Good luck.
link is broken
I have just stripped my Ignito (touch diamond) and it was no big deal but easily the most complicated phone I've dismantled. You dismantle the phone then peel the front clear skin off the digitiser, then gently lever-out the screen & digitizer together then split them. The LCD is VERY fragile, so use a real thin tool (like a feeler gauge) and go slowly to allow the glue time to come apart.
The digitizer and LCD ribbons are soldered together BTW so you'll need to use a soldering iron with a very fine tip to re-attach. I wrap some copper wire round a regular soldering iron tip for stuff like this to keep the heat input down.

[Q] Desire S display sparepart -what is the different between "wide" and "narrow"?

[Q] Desire S display sparepart -what is the different between "wide" and "narrow"?
Hello,
as the touchscreen of my wife's Desire S is going mad (sometimes didn't react, sometimes think you touch "everywhere") I want to change it. But if I have a look into several shops I see different screens as sparepart with additional description "wide" and "narrow".
What is the difference? How can I determine which is fitted in my Desire S?
best regards

Watch the Desire S Teardown Video on YouTube, take it apart and see what you have.
Thanks! A very good video.
Where is named which one is fitted? Backside of the LCD? It's not good for my health to take it apart, have a look, order then, wait for delivery and repair then, what takes round about 1-2 weeks. My wife will rip up my ears then!
Wide = Sony RGB
Narrow = Hitachi MDDI
The RGB panel flex cable needs to be a bit longer than the MDDI one.

Just as a reference Post, as I needed the information too, but found nothing over the Forum search.
So now you can determine which version you have without opening the whole phone.
If you don't know which Panel you got, look here:

Do you maybe know the measurements of the wide-cable and the narrow-cable? For example cm or inches. Because i trying to figure out if my phone have wide or narrow here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51615814 . But this picture is not so clear for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662090
Anyway there are two cables for every motherboard/LCDandDigitizer. And the upper one is always the same on the motherboards?

The middle one is always on the same position as it's the digitizer flex cable.
According to your pictures you need a wide one.
You can also choose by what ROM you where able to run, if you were able to run flinnys CM10.1/CM11 you don't have a MDDI panel and therefore have an RGB (wide) one.

AUO vs. Sharp LCD...How to tell the difference & buy the right LCD

I'm in the middle of replacing the LCD for my HTC Sensation phone. While doing research I discovered a few things & decided to share my findings. Sure this has been discussed on the forums to an extent, however no one has compiled the information in one place for everyone to see.
So...here goes....
After reading this this thread, and
this thread, we know there are at least two LCD versions for this phone. We also know Sony makes the third but for the sake of relevance and we'll stick with the 2 main LCDs most people will encounter.
AUO LCD is the first LCD pictured below:
Notice how the flex is light brown on both sides (dead giveaway) but also has minimalistic styling hues on the front side. It also has a gold connector with a shade of brown/green on the backside.
AUO Model

Sharp LCD is also pictured below.
Notice the solid green color underneath its flex cable. On the top of the flex, you'll notice a light brown color with a distinctive patten of lines flowing from the base of the screen to the connector itself. Also notice the connector has a reddish hue on its backside unlike the AUO model's brown/green coloring.
Sharp Model
Hopefully this will clear things up for future HTC Sensation owners and help them find the right LCD of their choice
This makes no sense tho in my sensation it shipped with a AUO panel. However when i replaced mypanel i was givenasharp panel bymistake but when i tried the sharp panel in my device it worked with no issues andhas been in my device for well over 4months and still no issues :S

It's not about compatibility since both companies make the same LCD. Its about which screen you prefer once you understand their differences.
Check out the threads linked above for more info on how the two versions of the LCD screens

How to setup a new motherboard just put in?

Been trying to get my Note 20 Ultra working again after a screen replacement and the phone went BSOD. Screen was tested and confirmed working. So I put in a new motherboard. Screen still doesn't work. With no touch capability how am I suppose to set it up? *I did try ODIN, but failure since I can't put it in the correct mode.* **I took this picture off my TV screen since it does put video out with a USB C to HDMI cable**

I'm sorry I can't be of any help with your touch screen not working, but I wonder if you or someone might be able to help me? Your post is the only place I've seen the screen I'm getting after replacing the motherboard in my Note 20 Ultra, and I can navigate using the touch screen, but I don't know what steps to take to get the regular OS to install and function from this screen.

Have you tried tapping the various buttons?
What caused the display to fail?

I have heard that it will pull the necessary data down if your sim is in. But I can't verify that until I get a working screen in it. I'll keep digging...

I'm hoping that my replacement screen is just bad and they'll swap it. Apparently BSOD is becoming a common thing with this phone. Even my parts supplier is asking me. I want to test my old board, but I lack knowledge to do so (and probably equipment as well.) From what I can say is that it affects all things screen related. So no picture, no touch and no S-Pen. So it could be a chip problem.
Replacement parts must be the exact same part number. Some of the model variants parts are not interchangeable!
Out of circuit assemblies are also susceptible to ESD damage. ESD protocols should be followed when handling these assemblies. At the very least wear all cotton and raise room humidity to 50%.
