Look at this: http://rapidshare.com/files/133052958/Diamond.pdf

wow it's too hard ..
i would only replace digitizer but this guide shown that i've to disassemble a thousand of components if i would access the digitizer

Did you change the digitizer???Because i have the same problem

All your devices are still under HTC warranty! Why do you want to do it yourself?

Click to collapse
Because warranty service in Bulgaria until now no change is digitizer. They just do not know how to change this part. What do you advise me to do?
...In Bulgaria there is no representation of HTC.

I would call HTC and ask them what to do. I'm sure you could send it to them!

Can't you just take off the front isn't only just stuck there with double sided tape ?

I replaced the touchscreen in my Touch Dual and the hardest part was to find the right part after a hopeless and unhelpful ebay seller sent me the wrong part (still waiting for my refund) Once I got the correct part it was about 30mins work to swap it. I used double sided tape as the replacement parts don;t come with a gasket. I just cut my own and it stuck fine. Make sure you place parts together in stages of dis assembly as there's a few and some of the screws look the same but have different threads. I would have thought the diamond would be easier as it has no moving parts. Good luck.

link is broken

I have just stripped my Ignito (touch diamond) and it was no big deal but easily the most complicated phone I've dismantled. You dismantle the phone then peel the front clear skin off the digitiser, then gently lever-out the screen & digitizer together then split them. The LCD is VERY fragile, so use a real thin tool (like a feeler gauge) and go slowly to allow the glue time to come apart.
The digitizer and LCD ribbons are soldered together BTW so you'll need to use a soldering iron with a very fine tip to re-attach. I wrap some copper wire round a regular soldering iron tip for stuff like this to keep the heat input down.

Joystick problem

Hello all
I love my tornado but i have some problems with the joystick ( it become hard to use).
I someone know where buy replacements parts i will be the happiest !
Please help me
PS: sorry for my English ...
Someone already posted such a question and posted back the part number when he found it. Just poke around, it will be in the first couple pages of the forum.
I recommend to use compressed air to blow out any dust &c and maybe use some graphite lubricant (use a hard pencil on a nail file if you simply can't find any, catch it on paper).
Some madman reported using WD40 to good results. I don't recommend that, except as a last of last resorts.
I've tried wd40 and now I have no problems with joy. It works like brand new one
Tanks you for yours answers. I will try WD40 ( I have bottle ).
Also I was incapable to find the part number in the forum. If someone can help me.
I keep you in touch with my WD40 experimentations :d
What is WD40 , i have the same problem with my phone

I tried today wd40 in my phone whitout open it ( i protected keyboard and screen) and it's better but not perfect. I think i will open it, maybe I will wait to find the OEM part.
Other way ?
I see no problem with opening it to clean out any possible dust or crap.
You can buy cans of compressed air, similar in shape/system to WD40, but only shoot air. This will blow any dust out, but you need under the thumbstick to clean it right.
The cans can be expensive, but think of it as an investment. After you clean out your phone, open your PC case and blow out the power supply and the fans for CPU and video card. Dust collects like crazy...
If you are crazy enough to use WD40 (which I do NOT recommend), do:
ensure tht only your stick is being sprayed
clean with a dust free wipe or swab throughly before reconnecting to the mainboard
Works fine with WD40 without open tornado but keep somes problems
Everything fixed with application of "contact" !
This is a spray that you can buy in electronics or sono shop. It use to restore contact in linear potentiometers.
My Tornado word as at first day !

acer s200 touch syntetizer (the clear plastic over the lcd)

Hi i have to change the touch panel due to a big scratch, anyone here know if i have to disassembly all the phone?Or else someone with a service manual?
My phone was out in the rain for a bit so my digitizer is all messed up. Only thing I can do is touch the bottons on bottom. Not much function in the touchscreen besides that. Have ordered a new digitizer and will hopefully get it by the weekend or next week. Can report back how it goes with the disassembly or have you already done yours? Please give a report on how to do it if that's the case.
I m still waiting for mine from hong kong.look s like someone else had changed the syntetizer in the forum, but i had no reply to my question
Ok. I guess we'll have to wait and see who gets his first. Whoever does though it would be nice with a report on how it went.
Hi i ve received the touch panel, but i tried to disassembly the phone, but i can not get the cover to open.I unscrewed the 5 screws on the rear but the cover is as strong as before.Have you ever tried to disassembly our phone?
And the touchscreen i received it s not the new one but the old engineering example,i think it s the same but i want to try the respone so i can give the seller the positive or negative feedback. The panel differ from the classic one for the acer logo on top right, not at the bottom center,and...there is the trasparent hole near the headphone for the front camera as you can see from this old sample picture

And this is mine
I read in the screen replacement forum. There are two more screws at the left and right sides of battery house.
Hope that helps. The guy in hongkong that sent me the digitizer sent it by registered air mail first but sent another one by EMS so hopefully i'll have it this week.
Ok i ve found the way by myself,it s not so difficult,i ve seen the two screws after...You have only to pay attenction to not force too much the plastics when you try to open the cover and when you try to detach the touch panel. The best way is to use a guitar plectrum and start to open from the bottom right, for the touch you have to go carefully. Now i ask in the forum if they need a guide with high res photos, because i ve taked pictures with my nokia n95
Well I would be really interested in seeing the pictures. Please do share. How's the new touchscreen working out ?
You can see my guide in the general section, maybe will be sticked. The panel is working good, but it seems a little less sensitive than the official oem one.Maybe the engineering sample is a little different. In plus the light from the touch keys is not diffused good, and i have an hole for the front camera, wich is not present in retail s200.But if you go to the guide you can see pictures
I have now changed my digitizer and thanks to your guide it went pretty smooth. Was done in about 10-15 mins. I got the oem one but the buttons on the bottom is diffuse as you said yours was. maybe i can move the white from the old one to make it nices. Probably won't bother though. Don't really find a difference in response from before the change.

What tools do I need to replace the screen on HTC Shift?

Will I need different shaped screwdrivers or will a regular (small sized) Phillips & or flat head screwdrivers be all I need?
While I was looking for screens on eBay and Amazon I saw some that came with tools. One of the screwdrivers that came with one of the screens looks like a star so now I'm wondering if there are any star shaped screws holding the screen down that'll need a star shaped screwdriver to open it with.

I hope replacing this screen doesn't end up becoming a huge pain. Will I be okay buying just a screen for $5 or should I pay almost 3 times as much to get the tools?
This is the screen I was originally looking at for $5.55 http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=110787423167
Thanks for your suggestions!
When I got a new flex cable it came with the tools needed. BUT I found that a screwdriver I bought from radio Shack had better fitting tips. I'll try to find a link later today if I can.
Edit: I think what I'm referring to is called; RadioShack® 21-Piece Precision Electronic Driver SetCatalog #: 64-185 *|* Model: 6400185 for $17.49
This should be in Q/A. But that being said. I would spring for the kit that comes with the Tools. Especially if you do not have the correct tools. Yes you are going to need the Star shaped Screwdriver. Not for the Screen itself, but to be able to get to it. Also a few other suggestions. One make sure you watch the Video linked in THIS thread on how to disassemble the Shift. That thread also has pics you should study a bit. Another thing that I cannot stress enough. HAVE A CLEAN WORK AREA TO DO THE REPAIR. It will save you a bunch of headaches. Take your time. Do not try to rush the procedure. Lastly, make sure that the work surface, and you are properly grounded. This will avoid any issues from static discharge. Read, and take your time. It will save you grief later on .

[Q] No signal after screen replacement: Damaged motherboard?

I was doing a screen replacement on a Nexus 5 and a small part from the motherboard fell off.
3 pictures to illustrate the problem here:
http://min.us/mKOC4FQe6F0HI
Afterwards, the mobile connection was a lot worse than before. Now, 2 weeks later, the phone's connection has become unusable and it constantly shows no service. Only very rarely does it have any sort of connection (Edge/3G/H/4G).
Questions:
1)What is the part that came off? (see album above) My knowledge is a bit limited but I'm quite sure it has to do with the connection? I notice there are 3 other parts exactly like this spread over the motherboard.
2)Can I repair it? Do I glue it back on? Do I solder it on? Does it somehow click on? (I have tried if it clicks but this part is so tiny it's almost impossible to really handle
3)Based on my explanation, do you think this tiny part is the only cause? The phone still had some connection at first but it got worse. I'm also planning to order replacement antenna cables to see if that helps.
Thanks in advance!

In my case.. I had to replace the charging circuit Cuz it was 'broken' as described by the cellphone shop.. It has connections to the antenna.. Now phone is fully working.. Before that though, I tried different sim cards with different companies (bell Rogers and fido) all worked on my phone except my carrier sim card (mobilicity). After replacing the circuit I just mentioned everything works fine. Cost is 25$
Needs solder it's an rf trimmer /radio frequency. It's vital to an ariel of one type or other. If you want to risk a bodge assemble everything except the back and hold it in place with bluetack. If it works I was going to say epoxy it but don't. Get someone to solder it. It's easy to do if you have the skills.
Oh vital it's right way round and has now been turned. There should be a slot for tuning it.

How to fix unresponding digitizer

So I bought a replacement screen, it became unresponding to touch within a few days. After sending it for a replacement the new one had the same issue right away. This time I desided to give it a go fixing it myself. I'd like to share with you how to fix this problem.
First of all the problem, the touch screen is not responding; its feeling very warm when you turn on your phone on the left down corner. The left down corner is where the screens hardware chip is located.
There are enough video's on youtube how to dissable your phone; so I will skip that part. Remove the screen and continue reading.
==================================================================================
Remove the copper carefully, try to keep it in one pieces. Its probably a ground field to keep interferences away.
If you dont want to remove the white plastic frame of your screen, you can cut it carefully for a little. Make sure you cut as less as needed and never cut it completely. Don't cut it near connections.

After remove the copper you see an L shape of components, protected for short circuits by an L shape on the copper plate. These are circled with red.
Then also note there is an arrow on the picture, showing there are more conductors, but these are unprotected! Pressing on the screen cause short-wiring here. Fix it by placing some kind of protector on it ( insulation tape or something like that). Place the copper back and assemble your phone!
Thanks. You have resolved a long standing problem with my 1020, two displays later.
For others:
To insulate those exposed components use the proper stuff. Kapton tape. Google it. Sold by electronics suppliers and on ebay.
Also, look carefully at the circuit board for uninsulated vias. Vias are the small holes that join tracks between layers in the circuit. They look like a small gold circle with a tiny hole in the middle. Cover these too.
Thank you so much ! :good::good:
You are a genius
