T-Mobile Wing ROM - "Ava"
Hi Everyone. I've been hacking on my own custom ROM for my Wing for a year or so now and after porting over 21051 to it and getting Manila2D working, I am so happy with it that I thought I would share. I named it after my daughter, Ava (that's her in my avatar flipping the bird in utero). You'll find that this ROM has a very generic feel to it. There are no tacky banners or wallpapers with my name on it. Just WinMO 6.1 + Manila2D + a few touch enhancements + several common tweaks.

Major bug in Build 25
Doh! I just found a major bug. The icons on the camera screen are gone. I either optimized them and the camera can't read them now or I removed them by mistake. The camera screen controls do not work.
I will fix, re-cook and upload the fixed version tonight.

Downloading and flashing...should be up there tomorrow. And as for your Wife, think about Ivan's wife, she probably gets no attention! With all the things Ivan does (JustHome, JustStable, SuperJustKitchen...) the Wife seems to come last!

I really loved the ROM! It works really well, and the scrolling is perfect, not that crappy TouchFlo scrolling. Oh, and MMS worked right away! That's rare.

I'm glad you like it!
One little mistake I noticed on your site regarding the LZX version. The LZX version doesn't require the SD card method to flash. It is big enough to be flashed with flash center.

lite as in it have manila2d but make it have more space for storage thats the only hing i dislike in your rom and i used ur rom from yesterday till now its still running smooth like i just flashed it

installed great, no prob.
after instal and a few moments of use, the home screen has gone to the regular style and have no htc style home screen with the touchflow menus!
also the start menus has gone all white untill i run my finger through it!
something i did? how do i fix?

You were watching too much of the Boob Toob, eh??
Idk, just restart your phone (hold down the power button). That usually fixes everything if problems arise. And if it doesn't, then, well, we have a real problem.
Would it be difficult to whip up a version without Office? Most people I know don't actually use it. I know I certainly don't, especially not with the Wing. And it's really too big to justify having it there going unused.
Or if you can add it to the ExtROM so it's uninstallable, that'd be sweet too.
I can host it, if hosting is a problem. Or if you just don't feel like doing it, I won't be offended or nothin'. Just figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

There's a fix for the white bar in the Start Menu. It's actually caused by the version of the Enlarged Start Menu that's cooked into the ROM. The fix is simply to install a newer version, IIRC. I dunno. Search around. It's a common problem.

Well its my time to give back to the wizard community with the release of my first cooked rom. This is my attempt of creating a "clean" ROM only incorporating things that I actually use (and hopefully you to). I am branding this release as SNN edition of wm6.1. The base rom is email123's vanilla edition of 6.1. It is a stable release with a good mix of apps/utilites cooked in. Known Issues
These issues are existant only upon initial boot/flashing.
During the flashing process the RUU may hang around 99% or 100%. Just give it time, it takes about 10 mins for flash to finish from start to end.
Upon initial boot, 2nd and 3rd splash screens seem to "freeze". As with any other rom, the initial boot always takes longer. Just give it time.
An error for S2U2 may pop up during first boot, just click ok then open and close iLock located in the S2U2 folder in start menu>programs.
Network wizard will configure your network settings. This may take some time.

Newbie1221's SNN edition of wm6.1
Final Note:
I accept no responsibility for any damages that maybe done onto your phone by using/attemping to use this ROM. This ROM has been flashed succesfully onto my CID & SIM locked G4 using SoftSPL.The nk.nbf file only contains OS and splash screens. No IPL/SPL. So it is G4 safe. If you are new to flashing I strongly recommend reading the stickies in regards to flashing a new rom onto your device in order to avoid any damages.

lol, this rom on a cold boot has about 30 MB free. The reason why it shows only 25 MB free is because i had a program running to take the screen shots and i had all the other programs i took pics of still running before i got to the memory screen. There's a pic of free MB with the program i use to take the screen shot and nothing else running in 2nd post.
The average of MB free is usually between 25-30, depends on what you got running in the background. If you want 30 MB free you should try a lighter rom like Merlin's slim edition, it comes as close to vanilla while having only necessary apps cooked in.

I dont have a bluetooth set, so i cant test whether or not there are any issues with this rom. If those that have already downloaded/flashed this rom could chime in, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know where I can get a base rom for 19199? by chance? I ws hoping to start cooking my self, But I can't seem to find a version I can use for my self (doesn't come appart right with packager) I just want to make some minor cosmetic adjustments so that it would be easier to see the dialer in hard sunlight. as well as add some small progs.
I'll let you know how the rom is after I have had my way with it for 24hrs.

hmmm.. didn't notice that didn't work... It's probably because there was a task manager already included in the base rom. If you wanna use task manager use the one from the today screen (upper right hand corner) or the one that is located in start menu>Programs. I'll test further to see if i can get that corrected before my next release. Thanks.
Hey when trying to install this rom it freezes at 52% what is wrong?
MMS does not show up anywhere. Usually when you open messages it will show SMS/MMS but just shows SMS, when you click on new, your choice is there for MMS, SMS and Voice Mail, and i clicked to send MMS, nothing. just saved in the SMS draft. Battery drain is fast.
Just wanna say thank you all for the feedback you've given back to me so far. Again this is my first release so there's a learning curve i have to get over. I am definately taking down notes to get these errors corrected. keep the feedback coming. The pro's (if any) of this release would be appreciated to so that i can keep what works and remove what doesn't.
I think that this is the best wm 6.1 rom!!! All is working. Beam also is working.

I just downloaded and was wondering why the TouchFlo interface keeps shutting down when I use a program in the background.
Just let ATT settings automaticlly register and installed my PIM, just soft resetted and will let you know if this continues....
Otherwise looks nice, running smooth

Soft reset seems to have fixed the problem, and hey!!! wheres your Opal keyboard Packge installing that now but thought you would have put it in. Only other program I think would be nice to add would be PIM to restore contacts, appointments, ect....

I've had this for a while now but have been super lackadaisical so i'm releasing it now.
Requirements: You should be familiar with cooking and should have read the wiki several times to get an idea how to do this. It's fairly straight-forward to cook, however modifying, adding, deleting, and creating stuff could be a challange. The steps are as follows:
-Launch pkgtoolsbuildos5.3
-Go to the buildos tab
-Choose load ROM on top left
-Tick the programs that you want (i have provided hundreds of OEMs and if you want more, just create them using the CAB2OEM program i have included).
-Once the ROM is done cooking, pagepool patcher will come up. Choos the pagepool you want and exit it.
-An error about moving kaisimg.nbh will come up, perfectly fine.
-Your ROM is all done and can be found under tools>kaisimg.ngh
-Enjoy!

Note: Most of the stuff are run and completed automatically, therefore it skips the chance to edit the dump, choose splash screens, spl, etc. To edit this, simply edit Create_ROM_For_Kaiser under tools with notepad to create a pause.

Welcome back Kareem! I, too have, been gone for a while but that's been work related. Since Dutty moved on to the Diamond forum and my first Tilt went to the grave, I've been trying different Roms. Most I've found don't have such good battery life for me. I'm gonna try your Manilla rom and see where it goes. Thanks for comming back and for your cooking.
Keyboard
Hardware keyboard don't work right, when I want to type symbols with Fn key. For example: when I type Fn + C it show "=" (without quotes) instead of ":" (without quotes).
Also, sliding keyboard out cause wake up device even, I disabled this function via Advanced Configuration.
Anyway, this is fastest ROM I have ever tried. Thank you.
BTW: I don't understand, why you removed task manager...

try searching for the Tilt Keyboard fix to fix your keyboard issue
This ROM rocks
Downloaded your Rom this morning. Set up all applications. So far so good. I have tried all Roms in the forum. I think this one is probably the best in outlook. Will have to use it for a while to test out the battery life span. Thank you for ur hard work
good job kareem... dailer doesnt show text on buttons incall however and of course u know ur clock is a little off on m2d.... but for the most part nice speedy rom

Development has stopped as of August 19, 2009 as I now no longer have a Kaiser
Hi guys, a quick intro of myself, been lurking around on xda developers for quite some time now (ever since my O2 xda, then hermes, and now kaiser), so i just wanna say thank you to this awesome community thats unknowingly helped me through three phones already! This community has been great and helped me a lot, so I'd like to give something back...SO! without further adieu...
I've tried many ROMs during my time here at xda, and man, they're all so nice! Custom boot screens, flashy skins, colorful icons, but none of them really suited my taste. I wanted something clean, professional, something I can take to work without looking like a kid (even though I still am one at heart!). The only one that didn't have customized icons that was still fast enough for me was the solacev2, so out came this ROM, based on mbarvian's SolaceV2.
Let me know how it runs, its my first ROM, so there's bound to be bugs and issues. I'll try to fix them as fast as I can!
LAST BUT NOT LEAST! I would like to thank the entire xda community, and especially mbarvian, who walked me through how to cook my first ROM!

Just found several things, on random access (contacts) does it necessary to shown upper bar triple letter, i guess random access is quite enough.
Second one, at Quick GPS, i hope it used brighter background, existing one was to dark, i can't see GPS data status, except expired word in red colored letter.

I too have problem with scrolling in contacts.. in file explorer its fine though.

Fast, clean but with all the apps I need!
The bug I found is on the settings tab in manilla.
When I press sounds it tries to load sounds but I get a little white box with nothing in it.
Maybe its only my Kaiser but I think it's worth to mention.

thanks panja, i got the same problem on my kaiser too. i'll look into it.
sounds like a missing dependency, either graphics or actual DLLs and such.

Yeah its the one from your kitchen, i skinned it for FingerMe titanium but never used it and just threw it in this one. LOL Yeah Name change was a good idea!
So I flashed the Omnia ROM and played with it for a bit, didn't really dig it. I like the sidebar style widgets, but I guess it's just not for me. Also, after it booted the first time it froze my Wing halfway through loading the homescreen, wouldn't load the taskbar. I rebooted and it seemed to be fine.
MotoHome, however, is f**kin phenomenal. If it wasn't such a memory whore I would never use anything else again. I only tried the 6.5 version though, I think I'll try the 6.1 version instead and see if I can live without the cool start menu lol. One bug report however, wifi in the MotoHome UI isn't working, but is still accessible through the back door(settings>connections).
lol yeah i think i might try to theme the Omnia Icons (SMS , EMail, Missed call) They kill it for me. Glad your liking MotoHome.. TonyC live without M2D????

You might want to add what MotoHome doesn't have, like mms for instance. Other than that, loving the 6.1 so far, obviously since I'm still posting at f**cking 1:35am.
MotoHome one looks cool. It kinda stood out to me when I was looking at your ROMs. How come it uses so much memory, though? I mean, it doesn't look like it should. That's so weird.

It has a weather tab too. There are a total of 6 tabs i think Its like a "spinwheel" M2d
Ohhhh. Well, in that case, I think I might give it a whirl. How well does it run? Is it laggy?
no not at all! it runs very smooth!
It runs great. A little bit of lag on the 6.1 version, like transitions from the home screen to sms for instance. But once I overclock that should go away.
*Edit: using OMAPClock at 228mhz the lag is gone. However, I did find another bug. The d-pad and center button doesn't work in the messaging/email screens.
I think half of my subscribed threads are for Mr. Ill's various ROM's, LOL!
But these are actually new ROM's, which are cool
Another MotoHome bug: RSS Reader doesn't work. can't do anything with it. I don't really use rss feeds anyway, is there any way to remove that tab altogether?
