Is there a way to customize startup sounds or error sounds? I would like to change the sound of those, but can't seem to figure out how. Anyone help with that?? Its has WinOS 6.1....
You might find those sounds in Sound Manager or in the Sounds and Notifications Settings. If you want custom sounds without installing a third party app just convert the sound to .wav and dump it in your windows folder.
Thats for the regular sounds....I am looking for a way to customize the STARTUP sound like when you turn the phone on and off and the error sounds. I appreciate the help but I am aware of how to change the regular sounds....just not sure if there is a way to change the start and error.
Error notifications can be classified as a ""Events (Warnings, System Events)" under Sounds and Notifications.
If you want Start-Up sounds you have to purchase Wisbar Advance 3.

How do you access the default sounds on the phone so that in the program it will give you the option to use a sound from the phone?
What rom are you using??
If you are using RC-33L, there are none.
If i understand you correctly...default sounds should be located in:
Menu-settings-Sound&Display-Phone ringtone or notification ringtone
I meant how do you get the options to use the sounds when you are writing an appliction
nevermind i think that i found it
I have no problem adding custom ringtones, but cannot for some reason see how to use custom notification sounds? What am I doing wrong?

I believe all you have to do is add a folder called notifications and put your sounds there. That should solve it.

I am having an issue getting the stock email app to recognize a different notification sound. No matter which one I select it always uses the same one and I can't hear it at all. I can't change it from within the email app either. Anyone else notice this?
does not support .ogg files

This has been driving me Bonkers! I have tried to move over notification sounds from my Galaxy Nexus and the problem I have run into is that this phone will not play .ogg files (open source sound files from what I understand). Like you said, it just plays the stock sound. The notification sounds and ringtones on this phone are all .mp4. So.... we will have to convert the .ogg files to .mp4 files.
Personalize app > Sounds Tab > Notification Sound > Email (default sound is 'Hint')
Unable to access custom ring tones in notification folder using the following:
Personalize app > Sounds Tab > Notification Sound > Email
Never mind, got it. RESTARTED phone and new ring tones (notification sounds) showed up in the list.
Hello,
I noticed that push notifications from third party apps do not make a sound or vibrate. Is there some way to make them do that (or is that something the third party app has to force?)? As it is right now, push notifications are useless for me, most of the time as I don't notice them when the phone is in my pocket...
Err.. Dude, only if you set to not vibrate. Push notifications, actually, vibrates a lot. And though I hate that, there is a sound too. The same sound to all apps, still, it is a sound.

If you're not aware of this, There is a setting under Setting -> ringtones+sounds -> All other notifications.
By checking this option, you can receive sound or/and vibrate for all apps notification accordingly.
Yes, of course most of the third party apps will have the option to select either sound/vibrate (like IM+). If they don't have, alert will be done according to your settings under ringtones+sounds.
I'm getting sound/vibrate alerts from my apps. Are you referring to this or something else??
oh, I have disabled this option because this results in sounds on pretty much anything. Error message -> Sound, I will give this a whirl maybe it's what I need to to :-/
EDIT: Indeed, enabling this setting makes toast notifications make a sound and vibrate, but it also makes system notifications make the annoying default.wav sound. I have, however, disabled this sound now using the registry so I have the best of both worlds.
That's great! But I've live with annoying system notification since my device is just dev unlocked.

Hi everyone.
One real nuisance I'm experiencing is that, whenever I change the ring or notification tone, after a short time they revert to the defaults that were set when I received the new phone. It makes no difference whether I choose an alternative built-in tone or an MP3 one of my own.
It's really annoying because the default ones are so soft and bland that I often don't hear them. Also, how infuriating is it that there seems to be no way to select an MP3 tone except by endlessly scrolling through every single music track I've got stored on the phone. Especially when I've gone to the trouble of storing them in the in-built 'Notifications' and 'Ringtone' folders.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Yes I agree the file system is so naive, it's not as intuitive as Samsung, Huawei, etc. The file system is half hearted at best.

Yes!! Highly annoying and not sure why it's happening or how to fix. I just want to change my ringtone and SMS sounds etc to different system sounds but they won't stick.
I have 2 apps installed, WhatsApp and Ring Doorbell that are not giving me sound notifications. For me the volume on this device is not very loud. I work in a noisy environment and need loud volume. My last phone (Note 5) I did that sound mod changing the volume xml file and used very loud notification sounds (mp3) and it was perfect. So I took those sound files from the Note and put them into the Mi 10 Ultra in Ringtones folder and set them. Since then I get no sound notifications.
I did some digging and found an app 'Hidden Settings for MIUI' and set it to 'play sounds', but that didn't fix the issue either. I'm completely new to MIUI and am all out of ideas. Its strange, but when I open the phone, the WhatsApp notification sound beeps to let me know I have a message, but I have to open the phone, if its sitting in my pocket I get no notification. Ring Doorbell is not working at all as far as notifications go. Nothing. If someone who knows MIUI could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: shouldn't have wasted my time
That's it for me. SIM out and back to my Note 5. Great phone but the software is atrocious, if I had of known the nightmare this would be I wouldn't have bought this phone. So now it goes back into its box where it will stay, 6 months 1 year I don't care, until there is an alternative to using this absolute mess that MIUI is. A real shame, but something as simple as a couple of apps really is the deal breaker for me. Maybe I'll sell it? Global ROM? Who knows ....but for now its a useless device that can't even run a couple of apps? That is as bad as it gets. Its privacy settings are the worst I have ever seen. Disguised as 'protecting you' but in reality its the other way around. If I wanted to be locked out and locked in and locked down I would have bought an Apple iPhone. Xiaomi makes good phones, but their MIUI software is the worst I have ever seen. I would not recommend anyone buy this device.
I actually was facing this problem and found out a fix. You just have to turn vibration on. For some reason some apps don't make a sound if it doesn't have vibration on for notifications.

I have Ring doorbell and Whatsapp working (sort of) as sometimes they are delayed.
I had to change settings/notifications/ring and set rules for notification as important and also make sure all notification settings are on
Then fo to settings/apps/manage apps/ring and make sure Autostart is on and set permissions to make sure the bottom 4 are set to green ticked. Then make sure restrict data usage set to WLAN and Mobile data and then set Battery Saver to No restrictions.
Hopefully it will work after that. Do similar things to other apps that may not be making notifications correctly.
PS I'm using China ROM
So I had this issue and figured out a sure way to get sound notifications working.
You just have to turn vibration on in the subtype of notification for said specific app. If you don't want vibration on all notifications for that specific app turn it off otherwise.
Here is the thing that helped me with the same notification issue! Just google "xiaomi mi 10 ultra notifications" and in the top 5 links you'll probably find an article from:
theunpopulartraveller. It explains the settings, and they need to be accessed by pressing and holding the app icon ^ app info.
Don't give up, try and you'll get the sounds from needed apps back. And ye, actually now I find the way Xiaomi did it much more convenient: I just turned on notifications for 2 apps, and all the rest are silent, while previously I had to turn off all the rest of the apps (much more than 2, definitely) not to get disturbed by all the bull****.
