Touch Pro2 International vs Xperia X1i vs Touch Pro1 International (Keyboard Contest) - General Topics

Let's vote for the best keyboard.

I voted for Touch Pro2 Keyboard.
The best for my big fingers.

I voted TP2, because I am not a fanboy. Touch Pro 2 has the best keyboard I have ever used in a mobile device.
Xperia is second and TP is third. I know many would not agree, but it is down to personal preference in this case. I don't like the TP keyboard.
P.S. TP =/= Toilet Paper

TP2 for size.
X1i is a little too small for my big fingers.

I dont know about the rest of the forum but i have only used the Xperia from that list and im sure most people havent used all 3 too - anywyas i'll still vote Xperia since its all i have

Touch Pro2 is hands down the best keyboard I have ever used on any handheld device. I love it.

I think you mayyyy find this vote a bit skewed, considering it is located in the TP2 section, and most of us are in love with the mobile, its screen, keyboard and its sheer shininess =)

That's why I create the same exact topic in 4 different forums. Haha go look for it if you're good at searching.

Yeah, I know it´s not on the list and device is old and bulky, etc but a fact is a fact:
The best keyboard in a device is this one:

Universal: A device from 2005, and to this date there is no better keyboard in the market!
Have a comparative pic:
p.s I voted for TP2 (As no Universal was included)
ps II to OP, you should include Universal on voting! also the other keyboard models as Dream, Blue Angel, Athena, etc. so this way your poll can reflect really the best one! just a sugestion

Should have also included the Universal in this poll.
The Uni was by far the best keyboard ever, that I have used.
The Rhodium comes second for me.

Got to agree about the Universal keyboard. It was fantastic, and remains one of the best IMO.

The same here. Never tried TP1 or 2.

Merged the 4 threads into one in the "general" forum.

right! no offset keys, no ctrl keys, no led indicators. Keyboard is subpar.

I've used all 3 and i really think the xperia keyboard is a piece of junk. I must say when i held the tp1 it just felt right where as the tp2's keyboard feels large. This might only be because i'm coming of the xperia but it feels strange in hand and not as comfortable as the tp1. I think the tp2 keyboard is better though. I just think my previous phones dictate my feelings towards the next. Kinda like presidents. Great ones always follow horrible ones.

I've only used the X1 and TP keyboards and I must say..i VERY much prefer the Touch pros...
as a side note I think the giant space bar on the X1 is a waste of space... and I dislike the lack of arrow keys/function keys etc

I think the giant space is very good, as I got a phone with a smaller space and it's annoying.

i-mate Ultimate 7150 Axed

Read about it here. Sad news. I was planning to replace my SE P990i with it. The Nokia E90 suddenly looks very nice. (I would pick the Kaiser but I have had enough of QVGA displays.)
Bad news. It only makes me want the HTC Omni even more
HTC Shift
Maybe the HTC Shift? Recent rumors about it being able to run Windows Mobile makes it an interesting machine. I've always wanted to look like a fool taking a call on a brick-like PDA.
I read on another site that this news is confirmed "NOT TRUE" as they are released at different times. Also there should be a 6th model.

Too big for a WinMo device, too small for a decent WinTel one.
I prefer a 4"-at-max PDA + a preferaby ~12" full-featured, lightweight (x61s, for example) subnotebook.
seems it was just a rumour

I can't wait for another clamshell PDA to come out. I do agree with Meinsys that the SHIFT is too big. It has nice features, but the size just turns me OFF from it. Plus on another site I saw, the reviewer said it has no phone application included, so basically it is just a PPC and Vista. I'd rather have the PPC and Phone with a decent camera in one device.
I am actually awaiting the release of the HTC Omni and the IMate 7150. Once they're both out, I'll wait a bit for the reviews to come out, before I decide which to choose.

7150 is not axed, but panned for next year that is 2008, may b early 2008.This is 100% true
I am using an ATHENA. I use my home PC (with RDP) as XP machine on-the-road, having all my files safely stored there (and NOT on-the-road )
It isn't my best phone, is my best SECOND phone, EXCALIBUR is in my shirt's pocket and ATHENA is the heavvy-duty device. Size doesn't matters but helps! and a PPC used with mouse, connected to a big display (4 in 1 cable is a must for ATHENA owners) is IMHO the best choice for business users
I will vote for a better ATHENA as next killer device for managers, bigger resolution, backlight for the keyboard, HSUPA
Two phones, same OS... I am still using my old laptop sometimes but my back and my right shoulder are really happier now!

The Sedna may not be interesting enough for the major audience simply because it is more of a plain business tool than the "usual" HTC cell phone/PDA gadget.
Yes, the Sedna has a fingerprint scanner and yes, the display is outdoor proof and can be used in bright sunlight. Yes, the Sedna plays video files without stuttering, even from a memory card. BUT: the Sedna is HUGE, like a PDA on steroids and the great outdoor display is horrible for watching videos since it looks somehow dull and the colors look washed-out.
To make it short: the Sedna may be a very interesting product from HTC but it can't do anything perfect and it definetely isn't usable for multimedia stuff, not even watching pictures. So why would people spend so much money for it if it is actually useless to them?!
With a better(more vivid) display and an extractable keyboard, the Sedna could have been a real hit. Right now it is probably exactly what HTC made it to be: a business tool for specialized applications.

So clean watchable video on a big but slightly dull screen or an irritating experience on a stuttering, slightly brighter smaller one. Not a no-brainer I'd have thought.
The WM6 keyboard is a real turn-off though. is there any chance that the finger-friendly keyboard from the Touch could be ported to the Sedna? (awful name incidentally).
And a question that's been asked elsewhere - can us poor schmucks who are stuck with sim-locked Sednas solve that problem by substituting the generic HTC roms that generous members have posted to the forum? Incidentally, the Orange UK rom (ver 1.10.61.2) seems to be a lot earlier than the generic one.
And my thanks to notisz! The p6500 may be a bit of a minority sport, but it does have real assets including a pretty good camera.
Oli told me that soon there will be a section for sedna and dont worry people oli managed to sim and cid unlock mine and now im using the rom i have found on wiki. Contact him and im sure he will help you. Also im using the pocket cm keyboard with iphone skin...much better
Yes!!
Yes it's clunky
Yes it's heavy
Yes it's Industrial
Yes it's Expensive
But I think it's Cool!
Just got mine two weeks ago and can't live without it
I carried a Blue Angel for almost 3 years and this is everything and more (except for the sliding keyboard I really didn't use that much)
It's a Blue Angel plus not 1 but 2 SDHC slots!
Add GPS, a 3MP camera and a sweet belt case from Piel Frama and I couldn't be happier
Not a perfect device as someone has said, but it's close!
Its by far the best htc model if you dont mind the size and NO VIDEO PROBLEMS. The only thing i miss now is a nice wm6.1 rom like those beautiful i use with my polaris.....Please Bepe and all other rom makers something for our sedna!!!

Excellent that a forum/thread is being created! I do not own the Sedna, but I saw one in the flesh today for the first time, and although large it fits in the normal mobile phone pocket of my suit. It's got better dimensions and is lighter than the Advantage, which I've also considered. It's got a five way scroll wheel. I liked it.

[Photos] When you REALLY want to show off...

So I've decided that, as I've gotten a few comments already, I wanted to start a thread related to showing off your device. Take a moment, grab a camera, and take a shot or two of your device(s). Right now, I've only got my phones and primary phone accessories included (I count my GSM Datacards as part of the accessories). Not sure how many of you will throw your list in, but I'm welcoming you all to it. Hopefully, I haven't missed this somewhere else...
As you can no doubt tell, I've got some wear and tear on my devices...

None of them slide without me telling them to, if that's what you're asking. Each one will go to its regular sliding spot, stop, and hold until pressure (I'd say regular pressure, not just a tap, but actual pressure) is applied to push it back. I didn't have the Wizards when I started, so I can't speak for them. The Tytn and Kaiser I had from day one, both work just as well as they did then.. I do notice a bit more of an overhang to the opposite side (i.e. when it's in, it hangs a bit more than it should, but nothing overly noticeable).
Heres' my set:

HTC Leo Specs Leaked!?!?

From HTCPedia:
http://htcpedia.com/news/rumor-alert-new-image-of-htc-leo-slider-phone.html
We have a new image that may show that the HTC Leo could turn out to be a slider phone instead of the popular rumor floating around about the return of the clamshell design.

This rumor comes hot off the presses, direct from a PM sent to me through our forum, from HTCPedia member Football. Though the member hasn't posted anything on our forum, they have sent over some specs on the HTC Leo that match what we've heard through the rumor mill.
The photo, however; is in stark contrast to the images we've seen showing the Leo as a clamshell phone. Since we have no other information matching this claim, we can't prove this true or false, so you'll have to be the judge on this one. Below is the message I received from our member:
Hello,
I have got HTC Leo real photo:
That will be nice if you post that at news page
Here also spec:
Snapdragon MSM 8250 1Ghz
Display 4,3" 480*800 capacitance touch-screen
512 ROM and 320 RAM
Camera 8mp with autofocus
Wi-Fi, A-GPS Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, support GSM/EDGE, HSDPA

I hope those are really the specs because if so its gonna be one hell of a phone.
Please please give us a CDMA version on Sprint!
It sounds awesome if the specs are correct...hopefully we don't have to wait until 2010 or 2011
Even if true, it will be Q4 2010 until its out on at&t in the US.
Just add a hardware keyboard and it´s the ultimate upgrade!
If necessary I can wait till 1st Q 2010 to grab one, even without American continent 3G
Add the Touch Pro 2 keyboard pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!
I have a strong feeling it will not have any keyboard though and I would still get it. On my HTC Advantage, SPB 4.1 soft keyboard fills the screen and has me hardly carrying my hardware keyboard.
it rumored to be some kinda slider which is possible if u look at the dimensions. wish we can more renderings of it or possibly a pic

in theory WM6.5 has support for capacitive screens. if the actual benefits of capacitive screens are used (multi touch) remain to be seen.
but that is one dam sexy device. basically a HTC version of the TG01 though.
A Slider Phone?? Please no, I hate slider phones (that includes hardware keyboard). Such things aren't necessary nowadays, especially with that 4.3" Screen, putting a good/spacious touch-screen keyboard should be no problem.

I also verily agree with this.
Guys,
Anything bigger than a 3.8" screen and I'm not getting it. This is ridiculous, how big do they want cellphones to be?
Why are we going BACKWARDS with technology? I feel like it's back to the old days of those prehistoric club-phones with a red led screen. It's also already apparent that when resistive screens get too big (TouchHD), the digitizer does not work at equal capacity across the screen.
Cheers.
yea 4.3 is kinda big and its said to have winmo 7 so it wont b out 4 a while but that screen would be great 4 a lot of business things since htcs phone usually are aimed at the ppl in suits

from what i googled its a typical slider (not if its left or right).67 thick so its quite big but really powerful. i would imagine its a full qwerty (5 rows at least) and pretty spacious

Hmm... Maybe there will be no more gap (or a very small one) between the screen and edges of the device. Then this monster screen could easily fit into the HD as well

[Q] Build quality?

For the lucky few who have their transformers, how is the build quality? I'm actually typing this up from my Motorola Xoom right now and really like it. But the transformers IPS screen is really drawing me. Also some of the other features like the dock, and front facing speakers. But the larger size is scaring me away. The bezel looks alot bigger the on the xoom especially length wise. Is it noticeable \ bothersome? I really like the xooms design and build quality
. How do you guys feel about Asus's? anyone with experience with both who can comment?
I have a few more days to return the xoom so I need decide if waiting for the transformer to come to the us is worth it.
Also is the transformers bootloader going to be unlocked for sure?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
its very nice build, does not feel cheep. there is a little movement on the back if you press it in the right place. but apart from that its perfect in my opinion. im using swiftkey tablet beta. which is perfect and makes typing on it super easy. and in portrait its super easy to type. im finding everything on it much easier to do than on my girlfriends ipad. i've always like asus since i got a eee 4g surf(one of the first netbooks). and a eee pc 1001ha(netbook). and always been impressed with there build quality and design.
cant say about the bootloader. but im sure people will try. i know paul from modaco. has a eeepad. and has all ready rooted and optimize it. just waiting for honeycomb source so they can deodexed the system allowing. custom kernels, roms, mods ect
You've been watching videos, but haven't actually seen one ?
The bezel looks big in the videos becasue you can't see the very nice old gold casing that surrounds the device, i may be a bit larger than the xoom or galaxy tab, but after you've picked it up twice you don't notice it.
the main unit, pad, is solid built, and most of the unit is metal, i will consider it heavy, especially if you combine the keyboard, as both unit has built in battery, but you do get over 14-16 hours of use, comment from asus rep, and it's very thin.

On real keyboards I type with all 10 fingers, so I wonder how it works on a touch screen. Probably not at all.

It's just a name man... It has a layout very similar to the swiftkey beta split layout(just works a hell of a lot better). There are actually 4 or 5 different layouts in the the paid version and you can have different layouts based on landscape or portrait .

Yeah you can. The point is to be able to hold the device and type at the same time. With a tablet, it is kinda hard if the keyboard isn't split because it is physically hard to reach the center part of the keyboard.
