Hi there everyone!
I went to TOKYO not so long ago (end of July). And GUESS what I saw??? :shock:
These marketers introduced me to a new Pocket PC.
They call it the FUTARON V27 :shock:
It's basicly a 812MHz Pocket PC, with a 3 Megapixel CCD video/photo cam. Its got a powerful graphics controller, similar to the one's in the PSP (Playstation Portable) and a strong 3G+GPRS built-in antenna. When they demonstated it to me, they wouldn't let me touch it
They put WM5 on one, and on another they put their own program which lacks similarities to the MW5 but it is, how do you say, more simplied and windows xp looking.
They run, the liberty city stories using a PSP emulator, which also runs other games like Mario and Pokemon. When I asked them about JAVA, they laughed , but yeah it does have it's own JAVA system.
He loaded the game from the pocket pc, itself so it was large file size. He told me it had a total of 5 Gb storage!!! :shock:
It's even got its own TV out, like the samsung d600 phone. They plugged it on a projector and showed me Pocket Powerpoint and also played the game via the projection. 8)
I should mention, though it was a bit bigger than my XDAII, the size was basicly the result of the fingerprint reader and all the other commercially available space consuming specialties. Basicly had more specifics than you can point with sticks!! But it was without a doubt, thinner, less rigid and smaller than the PSP.
There was special accessories made for it, like 3 different types of car holders for different holding ways. Optional: loudspeaker, charger, GPS holders. A weird case, but it is very protective, which you can tell by teh fact how the guy dropped and slammed it unto the ground a couple times which nothing happend. An expensive looking stylish cover. A durable plastic cover which you can go diving (i think) since its waterproof and you can press the buttons from the cover's buttons (what about taping the screen??) I guess that was designed for diving photography. A mini device wich you plug into the serial and the tv out and it shows a small (about 20" inch) projective for portable in-class presentations.A work station where its hooked up to speakers, where it can be charged and charge a battery, otherwise the spare battery (u connect) to the station is used, also has the projector, a note holder and couple of buttons which u can configure, i saw him use it like an office telephone with the hold button and all. And many other things which u connect like a powerful LED torch, forgot to mention the camera has it own LED torch and ca be used separately.
The whole pocket poket pc was very artistically designed, very comfortable, light and stylish. You could hold it in a digital camera type way, the PSP game kind of way, the stylus tapping sort of way and ofcourse the mobile type where you hold it on your ear.
When I asked them for a trade for my XDA II, the man nearly died of laughter. No racial offence, but I think these Japanese cannot hold their laughter. :roll: I asked for the price, he said it wasn't for sale. That they were merely introducing their devices to the tourists and hoping to get feedback and possibly order. Since I dont trust anyone with my money :wink: I didnt order anything, they basicly get your ID and credit card and contact you when they will release it.
This phone was not a phone, a pocket pc, a digital camera, a gameboy but it was something else. These nerds gathered their brains :?: and the wanted things/ideas :idea: from the public and made it real.
He said there is a slim chance these devices may come out until the end of 2007-mid 2008. I guess their holding off their stuff to profit more from previous products.?..
I've not pictures of this, it was a, as the sign read, "NO CAM TAKING" with guards about. :x
Anyways, I guess these people just rolled our dreams into one good fantasy which we can't have or touch and probably photograph until 3 or so more years.
I am thinking about buying a machine that packages (with an opening mini-parachute) a stored content when it fires. And it does fire, yes it does, so i can be like to the guy:
Why dont you try my SD card? Yoink grab the device
chuck it in the launcher. shoot the device into the air.
The parachute opens, it lands safely out of the secure zone.
My friend grabs it and disappears from TOKYO. And while the guards watch the device open its parachute, I run another direction and also escape. Next week, I'm home using my new whatever device. Lets face the facts, the name of the device is very bad. :?

Thats quite impressive but not surprising for Japan the micro technology capital of the world, I think theres some big innovations in pocket technology on the way from pocket pc phones to UMPCs.
By 2007-2008 only imagination knows what could be coming out by then.
No its not a PPC. Its is a UMPC And they have already been release in America.
I've sold one at my warehouse for $880.
The other system running is Windows XP Media Center Portable Edition.
Samsung and Asus have released them in America

Uh, "a little bigger" is the whole issue. Don't get me wrong, I love gadgets but lets face it: a device this size really takes the "pocket" out of "Pocket PC".
Sure, it's a great replacement for a laptop, but not for PPC (specially phone edition devices).
I thought it might be interesting to hear some peoples ideas on what they would like to see in future HTC gadgets. The sublime to the ridiculous. FM transmitter, phone to phone direct, tb storage, ruggedised- dustproof, waterproof, silicone coating. Whatever floats your boat, please do tell.

Hi, you see on the west side of globe what is going on - fast food ruls, we need something like is it alredy in the F1 but for our body, then will be much eaiser or not?
Motion sensors, apart from the obvious wii type control mechanisms would be useful for precise measurements and could help take gps to the next level.
How about some proper AV connectors and some PVR software, like archos. Always thaught it would be cool to drop an sd card into my set top box and watch last nights TV in the morning on my phone.

I do agree on the AV connections though.
There is a project ongoing where they are attempting to use motion sensors as an anti-theft device. Apparently, the way people walk is unique; the phone can pick this up, and then determine if the phone is still in possession of the owner. Some problems ATM though: walking on ice masks the owner. (saw this on NGC, but can't seem to find a link)
Hardwarewise, I think current systems already have a lot. But it mostly is the OS or software - or lack thereof - that imposes limitations on the functionality (bridging connections, ...).
Other than that: more memory, AV connections, GPS and a slicker design are always welcome.

Ok, I know it sounds crazy but has anyone out there found a good way to mount one of these to a motorcycle?
I have a couple bikes but my new long distance bike is a Honda ST1300 and I am to a point where I am either going to install another Garmin mount for my Street Pilot 2730 on the ST1300 or come up with some way to mount my Nexus One. Basically all I am looking for is the ability to listen to music and hear the navigation. I have the music and nav working now because I have a J&M 2003 CB/Intercom/Aux input on the bike. I can plug my phone in and get sound. So far I have been putting my phone in my jacket pocket with a headphone extension jack run to it. I would rather mount it so it would be easier to charge off a powerlet jack on the bike. I thought about buying one of the Google Car Docks as I like how it seems to securely hold the phone but I fear there is too much built into the base for that to work for me. I was going to pull the base off and try and modify it to use a RAM mount.
My other option that I was considering was a RAM Aqua Box for PDAs. Anyone out there ever try them? I was thinking I might be able to modify one to have a headphone jack and power pass through some how. That would give me the added benefit of being water resistant. My original plan was to just take it down when it is raining.
Anyone out there try any of this?
I have been trying to find something similar. I have the car dock and think it should be sturdy enough to use on a bike if you have a large enough flat area to mount it to. The way the suction cup locks in seems very secure. I haven't tried it yet but intend to soon. A ram mount solution would be much better, however. Has anyone tried the Iphone Ram mount with the nexus one? I've heard that the nexus one fits many of those Iphone cradles so this could be a possible solution.
I can't mount the suction cut to the wind screen as it has an electric windscreen that moves up and down. It would be fine if I had the screen up all the way but in the lower positions it wouldn't work out. About the only other place I could stick it would be on the tank and I don't like that location that well. So I guess I will have to keep my eyes out for a RAM solution. While the iphone and the Nexus are close in size I don't know how well it would work. The Car dock would be the best option. I guess I should just buy one and see if I can modify it to suit my needs. the generic holders are fine in a car but on a motorcycle where they are subject to a lot more forces (wind) and if they fall they are toast means I really need a secure mount.

Well, as of a few minutes ago, that google search gave two results. Of the two, the one intended as a bicycle mount looked like it'd hold the N1 more securely... but both of 'em leave the phone fairly exposed.
For both of the mounts shown, I'd have to say no. Bumps hit harder on a bike - instead of one wheel dipping down into a pothole out of three, you have one out of two. At speed, that's a serious jostle, and neither mount would give me confidence in the phone staying in place.
A ride started with the sun out, can turn rainy at the drop of a dime, and if you're out on the highway, it can take a minute to get off to the side to cover your phone - plenty of time for it to get soaked.
My helmets retain pristine appearance for roughly 20 minutes of ownership - there's a lot of stuff flying through the air on the highway which you'd barely notice (if at all) when riding a car; that tiny rock kicked 20' into the air by the truck 12 car lengths in front of you, could easily smack the back of the phone.
All in all, my recommendation is either a RAM case + mount (expensive! I've priced their stuff), or a small pelican case w/ DIY mounting (cheap, ugly, works - did this for a previous phone and GPS), or do more or less what you've been doing - jacket pocket, screen off. I'd switch over from Bluetooth to a wired connection to helmet speakers, as that'll save your battery - when running mine this way, I can get 5-6 hours of GPS nav from the N1 while riding. Bluetooth, I'd suspect cuts that down by a lot...
If you're doing longer rides (fun! But you shouldn't need GPS for that... I just tape some basic route instructions to my tank, and use the speakers for music), carry a charged-up second battery, and swap when you gas up. When you stop for the night, charge both.

Thanks, the one that resembles the Google mount where it wraps around the phone more might do the trick. While the bar mount included does me no good it looks like it has a ball on the end that may work with a RAM mount. If it doesn't I am only out $20. I think I will order one up.

Keep in mind there are many types of motorcycles out there. What you said is true on some. If I were riding a cruiser (Harley or one of the many clones) it would say I 100% agree. I don't think I would attempt this on that type of a bike. However the bike I am riding is a Honda ST1300. These bikes are very smooth. I have ridden Harleys and some of the many clones and the V4 with the counter balancers makes an engine buttery smooth and very quite. It is amazing how many of us complain about things you never hear people talk about on a motorcycle. Things like how loud the tires are. Yes, I don't like the tires I am running now because they are too loud.

The cowling and electrically adjustable windscreen on it offers lots of protection when needed. I just got back from a trip from Arizona to Minnesota and hit lots of rain from Kansas through to Iowa. I had my phone in my jacket pocket and it was fine. Now keep in mind that my suit is water resistant alone and I had another rain suit on top of it. This was easy to do though because the temps were pretty low. On my ST1100 I have mounted my Garmin 2730 behind the cowling in a similar location to where I would mount the phone and it has very rarely seen any moisture while on the move. I know many other riders on this same bike that use Garmin Nuvis that are not waterproof like my Garmin 2730 and they just put a zip lock bag over it if there is light rain. If it is heavy it goes in one of the many storage bins. I would do the same with the phone. Honestly the most I will use it in this mount is on short rides in good weather. If I am doing a long touring ride it will go in a zip lock in the clear map pouch of my tank bag. I just don't ride around with a tank bag other than when touring.
As for rocks and debris. I am not too worried about them. Again the bike is offers good protection. Sure my helmet takes a beating if I run the windscreen in the low position but with it bumped up again it is pretty much like being on a Goldwing. Potholes are the reason I wanted a mount that wrapped around the phone like what the Google Car Dock does rather than something generic or these simple ones that the phone slides into.
Also in case anyone else is interested in doing something like this in the future. The problem with using the phone like this is that you can't interface with the screen when you have gloves on. I found out that you can stitch some silver thread into the glove so that it conducts through to your skin and you will then be able to interface with the screen. I have also tested and discovered that this works through zip lock style bags as well as the zip lock/clear map case combo on the tank bag. While it should be mentioned it isn't a good idea to be setting up a new route while on the move it is handy to be able to say, route around a detour should you be stopped in traffic or start up the music player should it stop for some reason.
All well and good, but please don't accuse me of riding a cruiser! I ride a naked/standard/streetfighter, depending on who you ask (FWIW: 02 Triumph TB, with ZRX1100 front & rear, rearsets).

i would worry about vibration and moisture without a water resistant box. i've traveled with only a tomtom suction cupped to the tank, and it was secure. would i put my nexus there, certainly not. i also wouldn't put my nexus in the open air. or ANY PHONE that i might rely on in an accident....
when i ride here is what i do:
UNLOCK THE PHONE
PUT "ICE" contract on the main screen, then "WIFE", "PARENTS" with direct dial on the MIDDLE screen
... then just ride sanely as ever, and hope no one has to use my shortcuts. remember, they'll have a much harder time alerting your loved ones if the phone is locked !
also, print an address label, bright orange, with "ICE PHONE IN XYZ COMPARTMENT!!!" on whatever part of your bars / screen/ lid is visible. they're cheap, easy to print/change, and can save a life if your buddy/wife/whatever has fallen and you are unconsciouse.

I've lost faith in ICE contacts ever since I asked a few EMT's whether they check the phone for tagged entries of that nature, and they'd never even heard of the convention. So instead, I just keep a card with contact info in my front breast pocket, in case the wallet gets torn away.
BMW: sure, they'll be helpful, but a large part of the ego there seems to be how much your farkles cost you - velvet-lined, custom machined from aluminum recovered from the space shuttle crash, hand-delivered by the German Prime Minister. I'd check sv650 (or similar, tiger, whatever) forums, since they seem to care more about making something which works, but cheaply.
I may be a bit biased against BMW's. And Harleys.
The small-sized Pelican case (iphone sized) will hold the nexus quite nicely, and the overpressure valve can be made to accomodate cabling in & out of the case in a water-tight fashion. 's what I used for a few years, until I decided I ended up spending too much time looking at lcd's instead of the road.

I didn't mean that you were riding a cruiser, just that I would see it being an issue on that type of bike. Where I really have never been hit by anything other than that hands and helmet. Most people have no idea what a ST is because not many are imported so I wasn't sure if you knew what it looked like.

Yeah, while not as easy to put up on one wheel as a sport bike (it is 723lbs wet), it will lift in 1st and 2nd without much effort.
That is a good point about needing a phone after an accident. Although after an accident hard enough where I might damage it in a mount, I probably wouldn't be calling anyone. I know a few people that wear custom dog tags when riding with contact info.
I guess the other point of view is that if something were to happen to my phone, I do have insurance on it. I think they replacement deductible was $150 or so. That is less than a lot of GPS devices. Well at least the ones that are worth a darn.
I really wanted to go with the aqua box but I don't know if I can get power and audio jacks in there.

What are you using the rivet gun for? It looks like you posted photos to a bar mount as well. A bar mount doesn't do me any good on the ST1300. It doesn't use traditional round bars like your bike.

Rivet gun is for the Brodit Holder I ordered -
I was thinking just to rivet this holder on the left side of the dash.
Since seeing the bike mount, I will wait and see if that can do the job for me before I go drilling holes in things!

I am leaning more towards a holder that holds the top of the phone as well. The other option that I am thinking about is the pelican case. I will drill a hole in it to feed a USB cable with a right angle micro USB plug through and seal it up. That way I can power. Then I might add Bluetooth to the intercom system so I don't have to mess with the audio jack.
I don't really want a case round it myself, but definitely I'm wondering about some kind of clip to go on the top to hold it in.
Definitely I want an A2DP BT headset, so I can patch all sound, music, podcasts and calls through the helmet wireless-ly. I do this in my car now and it's awesome!

I have been looking into buying another kit J&M Kit for my bike that would let me do this. For all the parts that I want it is going to add another $500 in parts. That would give me A2DP BT connection to the phone for all sound, music and phone calls. It would also add GMRS/FRS radio for two way communication with other bikes that I ride with in addition to the CB 2 way radio that I have right now. At that point I might as well hook up my Garmin GPS as well because it will give me another input that I won't be using. I already have over $1000 sunk into the communications on my bike to get me intercom, CB and all the other stuff needed to make it work such as noise filters and antenna. I would probably want to add another antenna for the GMRS/FRS radio then to boost my range as not everyone has the ability to talk on both bands. That is kind of the problem I have now. Half of use are on CB and half on GMRS/FRS. With the setup I have now I can pull my aux input and loose music and connect into a GMRS/FRS radio and listen. I just can't talk as I don't have all then necessary parts yet.
Eventually all this stuff gets to the point where it is too easy to get a hold of me. Right now I like it that I can't be reached by cell when I am out riding. It lets me get away from work and all the interruptions in life. Besides talking on the phone and juggling all those radios and GPS is a distraction that can be dangerous on a bike.

Today I would like to ask you about your opinion on my self-developed Nexus 4 Dock. First, I wanted to develop the station just for me, because I couldn’t find a Nexus 4 docking station that really fits my needs. Now I’m thinking about starting my own crowd funding campaign with this station. I already got some positive feedback on the German website android-hilfe.de.
The features of my docking station are:
- SlimPort included
- Active cooling by a fan to prevent the usual CPU throttling
- Display in widescreen format unlike the usual docking stations
- NFC-Tag
- cube shape design
- Docking Station is weighted to provide more stability

What do you think? Would you be interested in such a station? Thank you for your opinion.

1) Frankly, the prototype looks terrible, especially when placed next to the Apple mouse and keyboard with their curves. Hopefully that's not what the final product will look like. Some round corners might help.
2) Take the LED away. It's not going to do jack if it's behind the phone. You won't be able to see it from the front.
3) Consider making the thickness of the "gap" around the micro usb adjustable so as to accomodate a larger range of phones. One way to do that is to make the gap wider, but provide plastic pieces that can be slipped into the gap to make it narrower. Think ipod dock adapters.
4) You need a better looking power button. It looks like something from the 70s, in which case you should make the dock out of wood. (In that case, disregard point 1 about rounded corners).
5) If possible, the dock should be powered by a micro usb.

1) Personally I am not a friend of the “apple curves “ and I especially don’t want to get sued. I wanted to create my own design. But everyone has a different opinion about design and that’s why I asked about your feedback.
2) You can also see the LEDs on the other side

Well I like it!
Does it charge the phone fast enough to gain a charge when outputting it to a TV? How about with Bluetooth on also for controllers and the like?
I agree that it would be nice to have it adjustable to fit other phones (and cases/bumpers). This might be the only phone with a Slimport, but who's to say other phones won't have them soon?
I agree the whole thing does look a little old school, but as long as its functional.
I would also prefer no LED light, but I might in the minority. I hate how everything in my home has a glow to it LOL.
Ultimately the biggest determining factor for me in buying something like this would be price.

As an N4 owner I'm excited to see any development of nice quality support h/w.
One doubt I have is for the fan cooling. I don't think the case of the N4 is really designed to dissipate much heat to the surrounding air (like most phones) with no fins and a pretty poor thermal conductivity (glass and plastic). I can't imagine that an external fan would help much, and just drive up cost and annoying noise of the dock.

You can switch the fan on and off. Besides I got good results in tests with the fan on. If you run a lot of benchmarks in a row (especially while the Nexus 4 is charging and connected to a TV via bluetooth), you’ll experience a decrease of the benchmark score. The fan definitely reduces this issue. I will post some results in the next days.
I want to make the price as low as possible without any quality restrictions. It will be under 100 Euro.
Great to see people developing unique accessories for the Nexus 4, but for me this dock is just awkward.
The power switch should be replaced with something more modern, and the design should maybe better match the N4. Maybe a glossy black plastic and an led mounted under a more transparent plastic like the led on the N4 is mounted under the glass. Over all, I love the idea and would probably buy it even in its current state.

100euros would be a bit steep imo. I can already get a dock for cheap.
Your slot should come with a way to accommodate cases too... atleast the bumper

Your dock is interesting, but, unless you're a developer that needs a cable connection (in my opinion) it makes a lot more sense just to buy an Orb and be done with it. File transfers can be done with AirDroid (for example). Wireless charging on the Orb is just as fast as trough cable (I have one) and it doesn't have the hassle of connecting/disconnecting the cable itself.
For someone that really wants the cable connection, it's useful. The design, if you want to really produce it, I'd recommend you to make it in a way that you can plug-in most android phones with the usb dock on the bottom. Make it simpler, why leds, buttons and fan (sorry, but I really don't think you need a fan in it)? Otherwise, good work.
Hi, I don't own a nexus 4 but I'm intrigued with ur project. To me, the concept is nice: something minimalistic, able to cool down the phone and provide connectivity to another device (or computer). It'd be a good idea if u can make the cube have a glossy texture, like white or black because it will still look nice even if u don't want to smooth out the edges. Also, it would be nice if it can accommodate phones that have a screen size of 5" or more (perhaps a slightly bigger cube). Also, I think led is fine but the switch for the fan should be smaller, maybe something rounded like the buttons of the iPhone 5 or a power button of any android phone and can also disguise with the cube's color. I believe something like that would look really nice on any desk.

Seems cool but for the same price I could get an Ouya and keep my phone for phone stuff.
I'm intrigued. If this went to market I would be very tempted to buy. Could set it on my desk, hook up sixaxis controller and jam out a few games easily.

It's beta/developer hardware right now, the retail stuff will have to be better (they are planning on selling at BB/Amazon.) The software on the other hand...I already went through that once with the boxee box (solid hardware + crap software.)
Introduction
With every Android device, accessory availability is one of my biggest concerns. Having been with the Nexus and HTC lines for a long time, this was an intimate, but expected pain. That’s why when I saw Zerolemon put out an extended battery case for the 6P, I was both excited and amused. The thought of adding 8,000+mah of battery to a 5.7” device with such a large footprint due to the front facing speakers was going to be a disaster. But Zerolemon did it, and in what I believe is the most elegant way possible. Sturdy tpu, and clever cutouts for the camera, fingerprint sensor, and ports. Enough intro, let's dive into what’s happening with Version 2.0 of Zerolemon’s Nexus 6P battery case.
This review is going to be mostly a response to the famous AndroidPolice article that infamously bashed this case, and rightly so! You can view that here.
While I didn’t get to test the first version, there’s a reason (or many) they pulled it, and while correcting the fatal camera issue, they fixed a few more. It’s baffling that they released the original case so late in the 6P’s lifetime, and Version 2 just leaves me scratching my head (but admittedly grateful).

The good stuff:
Capacity: With 8,500mAh of juice, this case will keep your Nexus 6P ticking for almost 2.5 times as long. I don’t know why people say almost three, but let's break it down. 8500/3450= 2.463768. We’ll round that to 2.46, and then generously bump that up to 2.5. What’s the big deal? Like 7100mah, which is larger than the battery in an iPhone 6s. Yikes. Regardless, this case is going to be great for travelling, being out and about all day and night, and or a camping trip.
Protection: The multi-layer design offers ample plastic/TPU(in fairly large quantities) to protect your device. There is a front lip (insert picture), that should have the surface area and depth to save your phone from drops.
LED charge indicators: Four LEDs on the back of the case show the current battery level. A pretty standard feature, but useful nonetheless.
The Not So Good Stuff:
Weight: A naked 6P, without a screen protector or case, weighs 179 grams. The combined weight of the ZeroLemon case and the phone itself pushes that up to about 430 grams, which is more than twice as heavy! When a phone weighs nearly a pound, it makes it cumbersome and tiring to hold or use for long periods of time, and that’s definitely at play here.
Bulk: I’m going to heavily borrow some stats here, but here we go. Putting this case on your phone makes it ridiculously large. So large you’ll not want to carry it around, and it will definitely draw looks. It adds 23mm to the length of the phone, 10mm to its width and 14mm the thickness. It triples the thickness of the phone, destroying every design and engineering feat of the phone.
You’ll be using this thing with two hands at all times, and probably be wishing you had a third to help balance this thing.
Here’s where things really start to differ though. Remember those improvements I was talking about at the beginning of this article?
Charging speed: ~~Neither the input or output of the battery pack supports any sort of quick charging. Charging the case, and charging the phone with the case, is slow. It takes several hours to charge the case from empty, so you better not forget to plug it in overnight, because you aren't going to add much juice to it during your 30 minute commute to work.~~ Both the input and output of the device support quick charging over USB C! Admittedly charging both the case and phone from empty will take 7-8 hours, but you can definitely plug it in and top up in thirty minutes.
Camera issues: We've already established that the rear of the ZeroLemon case is thick.~~ In order to accommodate the camera, a deep canal cuts through the back of the case, exposing the lens, LED flash and other sensors. However, the canal is not quite wide enough, leading to an unintentional vignette on the left side of all pictures and video. The shiny plastic on the sides of the cutaway also reflects light, which adds further artifacts to images. As a photography enthusiast, this drives me absolutely insane. How did no one notice this when the product was tested!?!~~ This was the reason the case was discontinued for a bit, and I’m happy to report there are no camera issues here! Snap away on that weekend camping trip
Unfortunately the fingerprint reader problems are still very much an issue. Unless you initially trained your phone to recognize your finger tip, you will have to go into your settings and re add your fingers, or repeatedly press them to the sensor in hopes it trains them on that part of your finger (unsuccessful for me).
NFC is no longer blocked! I can confirm it does in fact work now. Android Pay your way to the future!
Assembly: It is a tad confusing, but basically you slide your phone down onto the brick part, place the plastic ring on top of your device and the battery pack, and then slip that into the TPU part. Not super easy, but you should get the hang of it without too much trouble.
Build Quality: The plastic ring looks and feels cheap; I’d definitely handle it with care. The TPU part does very much have those injection molding nibs, but their placement makes them unnoticeable unless you're searching for them. The TPU feels sturdy, and I haven’t noticed any flexing or creaking. The cutout around the headphone jack can hinder the use of certain cables though, due to its shape.
Conclusion:
One day I was going about my business. Using my phone from 7am 6pm. Then I spontaneously agreed to go to a concert. I was tired, but I made it through! My Nexus 6P did not. That night I started looking for a battery case for my 6P, and saw the Android Police review of it. I was willing to even accept the camera issues! I followed the Amazon link, and saw it was discontinued. I then found out why, and heard they would be releasing a newer, tweaked version. So I held out.
My patience rewarded me with a gigantic, but significantly less flawed case than I had anticipated. I can slap this case on and not have to be near a charger for 3-4 days, but make no mistake- I swap to my TechArmor bumper otherwise.
No more NFC blockage, camera artifacts, and the addition of quick charging make this case a buy for anyone who might find themselves in a situation where they’re using their phone excessively, or in a remote area (me). Or people who dislike external battery packs (also me). The only showstopper: the $60 price tag. You be the judge, but I don’t think it’ll disappoint!

Got mine two days ago. It is very big, but that is expected. I was wondering if you could use the USB C port for data on the case. I wanted to buy a USB C flash drive and load it with songs, movies, and TV shows for an upcoming airplane trip, and was wondering if it was possible to use the USB C port on the device for the flash drive, and still have it charge the device too. I would test it myself, but I don't have a USB C flash drive, and don't want to buy one unless this works.

Using the USB to USB C adapter that came with my note 7, and using a sandisk flash drive with it, it does NOT work. I put the drive in the adapter and adapter directly to the 6p, it recognized, formated it, and transferred a file to the drive. Then I put the case on, then, inserted the drive, and nothing. Turned the case on to charge, reinsert the drive, nothing. So in my testing, no, it doesn't work. I have no reason to believe a specific usb C flash drive would be any different

Chances are the connector only has the power pins connected, with no data pins actually connected.

I can confirm as much with different drives and also using different usb settings in dev. options no luck with data transfer.
