Japanese regional settings, font and input - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

Based on the work of Asukal and Sven Groot I created a cab file for WWE devices.
The cab file will enable Japan in the regional settings, install a font and make the necessary registry settings to use them and installs the Japanese Input system Ooki from Sven Groot.
It corrects a small bug in Asukals cab file which messed up the keyboard if it was not a japanese one.
You can download the cab file and a Windows installation file from my website.

Greetings BG! I was just wondering, is there any way to get japanes input to work on a hardware keyboard? I've installed your cab to my Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium) and it works a treat, as I was led here by another post in the forums in the TP2 section.

I gave it a try but the japanese input did not work. It is listed but when I select and press ok the default touch input kicks in and does not save my japanese input selection. I another words, I coudn't get to select the Japanese input.

@oizumi
I found this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550
It works for me and gives me a romaji ->hiragana/katakana/kanji input hardware keyboard as well as several other SIPs.

Question about Bultin Keyboard

Hi,
I would like to ask if someone knows which dll's needed in order to work the builtin keyboard?
Actually i have the original Greek rom which support to write greek letters in 160 charct. SMS and also in general with keyboard.i suppose that some custom specific dll's are used for this and now i needed to import in WM6.
Thanks
I don't understand, are you looking to change your keyboard layout? In this case, you just need to edit a registry key. I can't remember the exact key so you'll have to do a small search; one of those contains a list of values for the various layouts with it stating that the UK keyboards hava a "locale" value of 0809...
Hi,
Not the layout of keyboard.
I am looking to change the character of each english letter of keyboard
hardware of software keyboard?
Hardware keyboard.
Edit \Windows\sym.txt
Or just install AEKMap and put the Greek Keyboard .aek file. There is also one for 160 chars sms. Pm me if you want it

How to edit the unlock screen?

I've just noticed that the unlock screen clock doesn't work with some rom's if the language is changed to something else than what the cooker set as standard. E.g. if I'm using the WM6 HTC Edition with the US English lang., the clock is there. If I set the lang. to German (yes, installed all the localisation files I could find), the clock is not on the unlock screen.
I've found some registry settings for the clock under HKLM\Software\HTC\clock however, none of the settings there indicate more of a language dependance than as for the text what's written on the "Unlock" button.
I've searched quite a bit now but can't find out how to edit that unlock screen so the clock/date works for my/any language.
Can someone help me with that please? Thanks!
copy ClockControlPanel.dll.0409.mui to ClockControlPanel.dll.0407.mui (for german) . From \Windows
aditionally, you can translate the strings from that file into german with Resource Hacker.
Thank you for the answer DSF, unfortunatelly those .mui files are the wrong ones. ClockControlPanel.dll is the panel you can access through Settings-more-Unlock Screen Clock. That's the panel where you can enable/disable the clock. That file's already present and translated and removing/replacing it has no influence, the clock just won't appear in the unlock screen as long as german is the active language.
You have to add this to the registry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\clock\Lang0407\
Add a string parameter "Unlock" with your translation as a value.
That value is already there. Besides, the lack of button translation is NOT the issue. The problem is that if I set the phone to use the german localisation THERE IS NO CLOCK OR DATE on the unlock page.
If it's set to english, I can see the clock and date, if I set it to german, all there is is the "how to unlock" info and the "unlock" button.
But thanks anyway.
Maybe some HTC mui file is missing then. I made czech localization based on Vox files and unlock clock is working when using it (I just have to add that key to the registry - not necessary in the latest Andot's version as it was already included). There are three HTC mui files in Vox rom: HtcColdBoot.exe.XXXX.MUI, HTCMessage.exe.XXX.mui, HTCSettings.dll.XXXX.mui.
I've got all those HTC files for the german version. Checked them with Resource Hacker, none have anything to do with the clock (coldboot is something about configuration and reboot, settings is for the WLAN and message contains a few translated warning messages).
The idea aint too wrong though as that unlock screen clock seems to be an HTC feature (non htc wm phones lack it afaik).
Weirdest thing is that (iirc) I had the clock when using a manually german localized version of Andot's "WM6.for.C600.chs.eng.cleartype" rom. And I had used the same localisation files I use now.

Touch Keyboard + Keypad working for Kaiser

Enjoy!
Fixed to remove predictiveness when using the hardware keyboard.
it works good, but its a little bit laggy..
I really like the simple qwerty keyboard without XT9. How do I keep this one? When I select a text area, it defaults to the 20 key pad with T9 and I don't like it.
any screenshots?
Good stuff TLR - works very nicely on my device. Cheers
When i switch to german the keyboard and pad are not working. couldt somebody make this version to support german language
Works great but I noticed that when using the 20 key keyboard the keys don't light up.
figured out the problem. the files L20-map_down.png and P20-map_down.png included in the posted cab are corrupt that's why the keys don't light up when you select them. In order to fix this problem, you have to download the OEM version of the keyboard and replace the files I listed above with the one located in the OEM version. Copy the files to the \windows directory and overwrite the corrupt files.
when installed, i can not use predefined symbols (ď, ť, č, š, í, ...) on hardware kbd (fn + spacer). any solution for fix?
I have the same problem. Help

Keyboard layout, install additional dlls?

hello,
i know the keyboard layout problem has been discussed a few times already, and i know the solutions, but it seems like i need an additional dll / registry "hack" to get it to work. ive installed the Lite rom v1.4.5. by luca15thebig, it's an english rom with qwerty keyboard layout, but i'd need the german layout. so i've tried the hints given on other threads on wizard forum but they didnt change anything. so ive looked into the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\] key in the registry, but theres only the layout code for US keyboard layout (*0409) theres only two entries with 0409 at the end but none like *0407. so, is there a cab / registry hack to get it back working? thanks in advance

[Q] Import dictionary into stock keyboard

I always used swiftkey on my N1. Now I have a Nexus S and I really like the stock keyboard, but there is no Dutch dictionary on the Nexus S.
Is it possible to import a custon(Dutch) dictionary into the stock keyboard? That would be really nice
You could try this package I created from CyanogenMOD 7 for Nexus S. It can however be installed on ModacoROM as I have and probably also stock nexus s.
It has the dutch keyboard/autocorrect hidden under 'Italian'. I didn't know how to get it under its own language. So I abused the Italian language for that.
I'm not sure if you need root either to install, anyway good luck with it.
If you have successfully installed it, you'll get another Android keyboard in your language and keyboard menu. Select the languages you want and Italian for the dutch dictionary. Please be aware you need to set them in both settings when you click "Input Languages" (it asks you to complete action using).
Should be fairly safe, you can remove it under manage applications and then choosing "Android keyboard". The stock keyboard that ships with the device itself and can't be removed afaik.
good luck.

Is it possible to add custom keyboard languages (that are defined in the SDK) without root?
I think you would need to build/compile it from AOSP. What I'm doing is probably quick and dirty but it works (I'm still new to this android development). Think you need root though to install this.
If you like I could try and make another APK with Swedish keyboard/autocorrect hidden under the Italian language.

That would be awesome!
Oke. Here is the Swedish APK. Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action).
Might need a reboot to have it work, didn't need it here. Also I'm on a rooted nexus s and haven't tested it without root.
I'v tried removing it from application management, which works. After that you are back to the stock keyboard. Looks safe so far
have fun..
note: I used adb install LatinIME.apk to install this.

Thanks, I've tried but can't get it to work. What do you mean with: Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action)?
EDIT: Okay, understood. Still doesn't work. Unrooted also.
Hmm.. So it installs and you get another android keyboard in your settings menu right?
What might help is installing another keyboard (free from market). set that as default (select it as input method in browser for instance). go to settings and select the recently installed android keyboard i gave you. deselect all languages in the input languages menu (once for each action popup). close settings, open it up again. select english and italian in input languages (once for each action popup) and close settings.
now open text messaging or anything else that uses the keyboard. select the android keyboard as input method. hold the spacebar and select italian. it should now give you swedish predictions.
i'v seen it here also that it at times didn't give me dutch, but after redoing all the settings it fixed it.
just make sure you have enabled the keyboard in the settings menu and set the settings for it like i said. if it doesn't work i don't know.
Is there any other way to get, for example, the Dutch dictionary in the Gingerbread keyboard, without having to abuse one of the existing languages? Can't you just add additional languages?
I'm using a Nexus S, and I heard that there are versions of the phone that download additional keyboards during the initial setup, based on the location of the phone (network, country, ...), if they have an internet connection available, see for example this screenshot: h~t~t~p~:~/~/~plixi~.~com~/~p~/~67798426 (can't post a link, so just delete all ~ chars).
I'm also wondering if this method won't cause problems when you get an OTA upgrade (e.g. to 2.3.3). Will you need to do it all over again? :-s
Thanks!
Has there been any progress on this? I don't know why android doesn't just include all languages possible. If an iPhone can do it, surely our phone should!
I heard that Android 2.3.3 adds support for a lot more languages, also on the US/UK Nexus S, including Dutch ...
