Does anyone have access to the official HTC diagnostic tools? I have recently been given a defective HTC Magic and have sent it back and am awaiting a replacement.
I'd like to have these tools just in case I discover another handset problem in the future. Does anybody have these tools? I think they would be an invaluable resource.
I have not seen these available to the general public but I too would be very interested.
there are some #* .... *# codes but i cant remember where i found them, and i didnt bookmarked it.
The diagnostic tools I am talking about are android applications that are put onto the SD cards and are used on Fastboot. You can see Fastboot checking for these on startup.

Has anyone produced a diagnostic tool yet that allows me to interrogate my phone from my laptop to get a memory table of all apps (not user data texts contacts etc) running on the phone to clean up unused apps without having to go into tthe phone menu all the time. If there is a cost for the app, please let me know.
Thank you

What do you mean, to do remote task killing etc?
Check out the Visual Studio remote tools. They are available free in the earlier versions.

Yes I have four devices and two were mine and two given to me for work. Two given to me are fully of apps that I do not want but I want to find out about them before I delete. I know its lazy, but to be able to have
to delete these apps from a single list on my laptop rather than having to do delete each time in the device. Also I can manage my devices better so I can use one for SIM/USIM development work and the business and keep my Wife's and my personal one seperate from business.
Thanks I will google now to find the program.
Many thanks vijay555. If there any SIM/USIM questions I can answer for you just ask.

Actually I might be able to save you some googling:
Just go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and search there.
Unfortunately if I remember correctly, you cannot install remote tools without the studio it self (maybe I am wrong).
Also if you are already working with some IDE for windows mobile like eVC check out 'Remote process viewer' in the tools menu.
Also look for a user called itsme on this form. He created a remote task manager (don't remember if it's just to show tasks or kill them as well).
Check the WiKi for itsmeutils or something like that.

Thanks "levenum" I have taken a note of what you have said and hope I can return the same help to you sometime.
It could be when I've done the research and got the tools that I may have to develop an app. Perhaps I can post here (like I have seen others do) and see if you would be willing to beta test a work in progress.
When complete would be happy to share the final work with the forum.
Thanks again

Hi,
I've just bought my new O2 XDA IQ. (Tornado). I thought I'd try and deploy an application to it but I'm getting the following error:
Error 1 The device security configuration disallowed the connection. Ensure that you have the appropriate certificates on your device for development. Review your SDK documentation for proper security settings for connecting to this device. Device Connectivity Component.
Has anyone got any ideas for what I need to do?
Sorry for replying to own topic.
I found this link:

Just what I needed. Hope this helps if anyone else has the same problem.
Actually, it will be a good idea to use device emulator rather than your real device to debug your app. Unless you want your phone really mess up.
On the other hand, if your app use some device specific features, than you should pray every time before deploying.
That's my experience.
It seems like there is possibilities to receive ANT+ signals on htc legend.
Read more here, http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2010/07/behind-scenes-of-team-htc-columbia-and.html
Anyone know more about this?
Would it be possible to enable without waiting for htc software?
It would be great to use the phone as computer instead of buying a new device for my ANT+ devices.
Found out some more information.
Perhaps someone good developer can solve it

Hi,
As per the subject, I have been given a Windows Phone 7 device and been tasked to see if a root/user certificate can be extracted from the phone.
We install certificates onto mobile devices such as iPhones, to allow IPSEC VPN tunnels and secure access to exchange servers.
Using the tools I found on this site, I have managed to unlock my test WP7 device, installed the root and user certificates on my WP7 (I downloaded it from our test site) and I also install Advanced File Explorer on WP7 phone.
Based on my rudimentary research, the Certificate Store is not accessible on a WP7 device and the only to remove a certificate from the store is to reset the phone to factory settings.
In the root of the WP7 phone, there is a file called drmstore.dat. I have used Advanced File Explorer to copy this file to my desktop and using NotePad++ see that it does have some MS root certicates in there. But is this the file that would contain the user installed certificates?
My WP7 experience is limited to 3 days so far, so was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction wrt to file location. From what I've read, the OS does seem to be designed really well, so I am hoping that it is indeed impossible to extract the certificate from the device.
The only reason we are doing this test is to work out if the new phone is secure as it is getting difficult to get hold of Windows mobile 6.5 phones as the days progress. The problem is that WP7 phone dont support disk encryption yet (or so I believe) hence the worry ...
Many thanks in advance for your help and pointers.
if the phone is locked then it is really impossible to get it off the phone.
after the update from MS we aren't able to unlock the phone again so I think it is pretty save.
maybe you could look at a dump of a rom to find out where the serts are stored.
Thanks for your reply.
There are interesting times ahead.
The Chevron WP7 exploit will be closed but hte Touchxplorer developer claims that his solution will still allow full file access to system, so I am waiting with bated breadth to see how it all pans out. And who knows, we may have Nokia announcing that they will be using WP7 as an OS for their Nokia hardware on Friday.
Since I am not to au fait with the structure of WP7 phone (and I don't even know why I was given this job considering my hacking skills are about 5%) would you have an inkling as to where they sort of could be kept or how to read or even create a dump of the ROM?
Many thanks. I will search on the forums to see if I can get more information.
Thanks again.
Good evening,
After weeks of troubleshooting and searching I ended up here hoping to find a specialist who can help me out.
This is a very special case,
I got an intel FT410 Tablet PC from ebay.
I repaired the charging controller circuit and now it works. The thing is, this tablet does actually not even exist. It has never been sold anywhere. What I got here is an original intel engineering example especially manufactured for development. It has 6 different modems in it, 2 sim trays, 2 usb ports (usb c and usb a mini) and a debugging connector at the back. It's equipped with an intel atom cpu and 2gb ram.
I can enter a special intel bios with more settings you've ever seen in a bios before I can even set the threshold voltage of the battery.
Beside the intel bios i can boot into a fastboot mode like menu. from there i have the option to enter fastboot mode, recovery mode, crash mode and normal boot of course. Recovery mode leads to a black screen as there's no recovery image flashed. no rom flashed as well this thing is empty. I managed to detect it with adb using the common adb driver package. But the adb shell in this tablet is very limited I can not even do a sideload. I can only pull I can't push. I can enter fastbood mode or crash mode which appears to be the same in windows device manager at least. It detects an "Cherry Trail FFD" device. But i can't find any drivers. When I go back into this menu I can adb it. It also shows an "Cherry Trail FFD" device under usb devices in devman. But the fastboot device won't work as I can not find any drivers for it. I tried many, i tried the intel usb driver package. nothing.
I'm losing hope in getting this thing flashed somehow but you are my last chance here otherwise i'll just salvage the flash chips, screen and the battery. But maybe someone has had the same tablet which seems to be unlikely as Google literally knows nothing at all about this tablet 0 informations.
here are some photos attached:
Hello! It sounds like you have a very unique device on your hands. Unfortunately, since it is a development unit and not a consumer device, finding resources and support for it may be difficult.
Based on what you've described, it seems like you may need to find and install the appropriate drivers for the "Cherry Trail FFD" device in order to use fastboot. You mentioned that you have tried many drivers already, but have you tried contacting Intel support directly? They may be able to provide you with the necessary drivers or offer other assistance.
Additionally, you may want to try posting on forums or discussion boards focused on development or hacking of Intel-based devices. You may find other individuals who have experience with similar devices or who can offer guidance on how to proceed.
Good luck with your device!

I'm not sure if that's a good idea contacting intel. i'm not even sure if this is legal as it says it's intel property and a top secret. And yeah I actually thought xda would be the best place for that topic.
