This is my first post here in XDA...
I'm trying to make changes to some dll files in WM6.5 (for example the syncres.dll.0409.mui), but I can't find a way to edit and save the changes.
For example:
I wish to make changes to syncres.dll.0409.mui\html\notificatioons.htm.
I rename the file into syncres.dll and open it in a resource editor, like PE Explorer, edit the string and then I save the file, rename back to syncres.dll.0409.mui, and copy it into windows directory.
In WM6.1, this worked without a problem, but when I try to make the same changes in syncres.dll.0409.mui from WM6.5, the process fails. I can't make changes to HTML files.
I've tried several resource editors like PE Explorer, VS, Restoractor and some others I don't remember their name, but none of them was able to make changes to the syncres.dll\html\*.htm resources.
Can you help me please?
Do you know how to edit the syncres.dll\html\*.htm resources in WM6.5?

what program do you use to edit/create themes for wm6?
A .tsk is just a special type of .cab. Any program that can pull apart and put together a cab can do this. Inside you have stwater.bmp and maybe tdywater.bmp graphic images (possibly multiple versions for different screen resolutions) and registry entries for font color and stuff.
Search here and on google for stwater tdywater and you'll find more info.
can you point me in the right direction to change the image of the unlock screen?

I believe that is the BatteryStatus screen lock. Try asking Ikarus over in the BS thread and he could tell you how to edit that screen.
There is Opera which can download any file from web and maybe other tools & regedit that can edit file association but I havent found anything fast, easy, and free to do that. Hope it helps someone.
FEADIE helps when Internet Explorer keeps telling "Error: This file cannot be viewed on the device". Setting this file extension in FEADIE should solve this error message.
In case you want to download some file and it is displayed as text, go to "\Windows\Profiles\guest\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5" and find the file by its filename. (This problem often relates CAB files because many web servers are missing Content-Type for this extension.)

well i got tired of looking around for text icons to my exact specifications so i made my own. maybe someone else already made some just like mine in that case credits to them i could care less for recognition for this. 10 minutes in photoshop and this is what i came up with...

i included a zip with the icons and the source psd file. simply unzip somewhere onto your sd card and use launcher pro or some other icon manager to change your stuff out.

I was struggling to create clear folder structure for maintaining reverse-engineering projects. Also doing everything manually took that much time I preferred not to compile app and read .java files of cracked application just to check that I didn't break anything while working with Smali. That's why I created this project. The code is mostly uncommented but I have made it pretty easy to read if you know basics of Ruby though I'm thinking about commenting it soon.
The software is Linux only at this moment since I'm lazy, I don't like Windows and there is no good reason to prefer Windows over Linux while reverse-engineering.
