same msm7200 they found a way to make camera work without lag, read this (they ported a part of newest diamond rom to make it work)

a good friend of mine bought a Touch Cruise couple of days ago... i just wasn't aware its aka Polaris...

Any Updates
well .... it seems that htc didit again, most of the opinions are that is no good, i am wondering now if the ported diamond rom has improvements on camera frames?
does any body knows someting about that

Hello all,
I'm totally new to this so please be a little patient with me.
Last week I bought a second hand HTC Touch Cruise. After playing a while and learning hoe to use I noticed some discrepancies between the software and the manual.
In ROM settings I found:

My questions:
1. So this is not an original Windows Mobile 6.1?
2. Should I upgrade this, if yes: how?
3. I'm missing the Windows Live Messenger
4. I totally do not like the Opera Browser, but this seams fixed and automatically being used
5. Windows Update is gone; do I miss something there
6. Is it possible to go back to the original Windows? And what would I miss with that?

Yes, you have a custom version of Windows Mobile installed on your device. HTC has not yet released a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for the Touch Cruise yet. From factory, they all come with Windows Mobile 6.0 installed. The factory version has Pocket IE setup as the default browser, along with Opera 8.65 installed. Also, the factory version does not have threaded SMS and zooming in IE, since those are features of WM6.1, not WM6.0. If I were in your shoes, I'd keep the Bepe ROM just a little while longer as the official HTC WM6.1 release should (fingers crossed) be here any day now. I'd upgrade to that, instead of going back the the official WM6.0 ROM at this point only to upgrade to the official ROM when its released shortly.

Also, you might want to go to Opera.com and download the Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta. Its a much improved browser akin to the iPhone Safari experience.

I installed the Opera 9.5beta, but I still get the problem of extreme miniaturized webpages, so I will stick to IE for now.
What about Live Messenger? I cannot get int from the Microsoft site. Is it available here?

Do some browsing around these forums and you'll discover a lot. A search for Live messenger cab will reveal some download links. Double tapping on the screen will zoom in when using Opera Mobile 9.5. Double tapping again will zoom you back out.

I'm running WM6 from Cotulla and I like it, but I have to recharge the Magician every night while with WM2003 I recharge it every 3 days..
Do you have the same issue? Is there a fix for the "inefficient stanby"?

sadly windows mobile 6 uses alot more resources, it wasnt expected by the developers of the the phones for it to be used with anything but wm2003. i think its a cross we simply have to bear for us to have up to date phones.

Honestly speaking, I don't see major difference between WWE 3.02 and 3.03, maybe somebody can enlighten me here. Though with WWE 3.03 some said certain SDIO will malfunction, so I dare not to try.
By the way, I have scheduled a well installed Sprite backup to backup my data every night 03:00 am which Cotulla told me never restore when upgrading his rom, so why should I try WWE 3.03?

If you have $, SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 is a definite better choice from my point of view.
PointUI came in free, and has been excellent since 1.0 when I use Taxist's 2.03tx rom (2.0 is even better if you choose well programmed applets)

Honestly, my old magician with WWE-O3 (run @416+ MHz) works faster than my Universal (run @624MHz) for resized HD movie playback..
Now, I'm using my Gene and it's stuck @265MHz..
God, I missed that speed, that HD video playing capability, & that transparent top & bottom bar...

Cotulla's R1 WM 6.5 is the best

I'm bata, from Indonesia. I bought 2nd hand Dopod 900 since last year, with installed windows mobile 5.0.
Since i know this forum last month, i took a chance to try Tomal recent ROM for my HTC Uni. I already try WM 6.5 D.09.00 TML WWE. and now, my device seems running slowly, and it happen so often, when i try to write a message or reply message from previous thread, suddenly the pointer active but i couldn't write any letter. but if i press start button, sliding menu still working well. This is very disturbing, so if i want to write a message i must do a soft reset.
Now i try to downgrade my Uni with windows mobile 6.1, i saw in this forum, there is alot version of WM 6.1, could any one of you tell which is faster for performance ? my often activity only related to reply sms, connect to internet through wifi connection, making and receiving a call.
1. Which is better for faster performance WM6.1 build 21028 or 21048?
2. When i'm using WM 5.0 there is Midlet Manager for running Java application (opera mini, ebuddy, bolt, etc) in Windows Mobile. Is there any such midlet manager in WM 6?

you should try and play for knowing the best one for your dailly use.
for me, i totaly agree with al_3sjad, Tomal v8.9 is great!
if you want to play with 6.5, maybe you should try luca15thebig WM6.5 WWE v2.0.5 (regular/vanilla), right now i used "regular" and everything running as it should be.

I do agree with Indrastrid, Tomal 8.9 (8.91& 8.71)is one of the Best Roms, i moved to luca15thebig and i am using the light version for more than a month and it is fast. However i left Tomal rom just becuase it didnt support my multilanguage keyboard. i would recomend you try both and decide what is better for you.

There is no such as "best" ROM
I can recommend Tomal ROM´s as the more stable and the best for me, but the best way is to test several till you get to your best, that not necessary has to be my best...

I'm fairly new to this and I have a lot of things stored to my internal memory on my palm treo 750, (I thought this was where there were supposed to be installed).
Maybe I have some overlaps or unnecessary items, this is whats installed:
Microsoft .Net configuration
mskip MS301 Widgets Pro Plus Ultimate
volDeus MS3 Config
Spb Mobile Shell
Mskip ProPlus WP7 V3.1 WQVGA

What OS version are you running (WM6, WM6.1, WM6.5)? That can be checked in the Settings->System->About.
Seems like you do the same things I do, I install to internal memory for necessary stuff, that needs to be in the internal storage, and I don't like installing to external cards.
In a few days I will be releasing a WM6.5 version that will grant more memory, and if there is much demand, I can do the same for WM6, for those that prefer WM6 (and maybe 6.1)
