3G Connection LOST - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I managed to root my Rogers phone and install the HERO Rom by Fatal1ty modded by hotweiss for Rogers...
and ever since it's installed, i can't seem to get my 3G connection working
whenever i need data, i have to rely on using Wi-Fi...
do anyone else with the ROM have the same problem? any way to fix it?
thanks

i've the same problem after flash hero rom. It seems the 3G settings can't retrieved from the provider automatically. The solution is to configure the 3G settings manually and then your 3G connection will work.

These should be the manual settings for rogers:
Internet:
* Name: Rogers
* APN: internet.com
* Username: wapuser1
* Password: wap
* MCC: 302 - should be preset correctly
* MNC: 72 - should be preset correctly
MMS:
* Name: Rogers MMS
* APN: media.com
* Username: media
* Password: mda01
* Server: 172.25.0.107
* MMSC: mms.gprs.rogers.com
* APN type: mms
You can enter these settings in: settings>wireless controls>mobile networks>access point names

i tried those, but still didn't work... i called rogers.. *of course, i didn't say anything about modding a new ROM but they weren't much of a help neither*
then i decided to restore my nandroid backup and copy down the APN settings i had before
so i did:
(for anyone who needs, to see if it works... in Montreal area)
Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
and i re-installed the new ROM
and NOW IT WORKS!!!
YAY!

Hi,
Thanks for the tip, I tried almost everything I could find on forums... but this one doesn't work neither.
I'm using a HTC Desire under Froyo 2.2, what phone are you using ?
Thanks !
Blimmeh that was a while back !
I was using an HTC Kaiser running android, now I've got a Galaxy S
Here's the mobile data APN details
Name: Vodafone
APN: isp.vodafone.ie

Username: vodafone (lower case)
Password: vodafone (lower case)
Server: 0.0.0.0
MMSC: <Not Set>
MMS Proxy: <Not Set>
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 272
MNC: 01
APN Type: default
just be careful, isp.vodafone.ie is not included in your data bundle, you'll be charged for that. use live.vodafone.com instead

Oddly I just checked my last bill and both isp and live fall into my data allowance.
Also if you take the proxy out then you don't get any of Voda's ads on screen

Are you using a fido sim card? It's weird that it works without unlocking the phone. First thing I suggest is to download the sgs unlock app and unlock the phone. There's no reason not to really.
Dont't use the wap apn. Explains why the browser only works.
This works with mine:
Internet
Name: Fido Internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Proxy: 205.151.11.11
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
MMS
Name: Fido MMS
APN: mms.fido.ca
MMSC: htp://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 8080
Username: fido
Password: fido
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
APN Type: mms
I just combine it as internet + mms to make things simpler.
Try this one first though:
Internet
Name: Fido 3G+ + MMS
APN: fido-core-appl1.apn
Proxy: none
Username: none
Password: none
MMSC: htp://mms.fido.ca
MMS Proxy: 205.151.11.13
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MCN: 370
APN Type: internet + mms
Update me on which works please!
I'm using internet.fido.ca and it works fine for me. I haven't tried the .apn one yet. I'll give it a try once I finish calibrating the battery.

Hey,
I thought the "sgs unlock app" only works on the at&t branded captivate... is that not the one click program?

Hi guys,
I'm also using this but I DO have to leave it on romaing for data. (Why? - Are they charging me data roaming fees even tho im a Fido sub?)
My setup:
Rogers captivate with froyo update using att release.
Fido Sim Card.

I called fido and read forums and I've been informed that you will not get extra charges. Not sure why you have to check roaming for rogers captivate though.
On a different note I'd like to share my experience with 2 different internet apns provided. "Fido 3G+ +MMS" gave me about 2k/0.3k for speed test while "fido internet" gave me 5k/2k in dl/upload speeds. I'm running axura beta 2. Can anyone confirm?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
Awesome. Very nice to know.
Will try and post my findings on speed as soon as i get to test the different APNs.
[EDIT]
I'm also getting similar speeds from "Fido 3G+ +MMS" (2.8k/0.35k).
From fido internet : 4.5k/0.2k
Also checked with a colleague here who is on rogers on an x10: he's getting around 3.5k down and 1k up!!! crazy upload speed.
tested with speedtest.net's app
same here,
tried use both 1)mms + internet, and 2) internet only, seems internet only can get better result on both upload and download speed, using speedtest.net app
Hey im in the exact same boat, got a rogers captivate and tryin to use it on the fido network. the sgs unlock pro app (available in market for $5, but worth it imo) worked perfectly for me and is very user friendly, it requires root tho, i used the z4root.apk to root my phone. here's the thread for it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
I was just trying to connect thru the fido auto find XD data did not work at all... txt and calling did tho, even before i unlocked it.
thanks a billion yungster89, that was exactly what i needed to get her working
i noticed when i use that APN tho, that the 3G data transfer icon will stay up, but if i try to use any data it will switch to an H logo, i assume this is for HSPA? but when i did a speedtest using the speedtest app, i only got 1.5 mbps while on my iphone 3gs (which had the exact same data plan/sim card on it) i got ~3.0 mbps down rate. any idea what would cause that? i thought HSPA was quite a bit faster than 3g?

Just add your Access Point Names (APNs).
Go to Settings -->Wireless and Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names --> Menu button --> New APN --> add:

Port: < not set>
Username: < not set>

Server: < not set>
MMSC: < not set>

MMS Port: < not set>
MMC: 310 (correct for cell one/chinook wireless)
MNC: 570 (correct for cell one/chinook wireless)
APN Type: < not set>
and second APN for MMS:
Name: Cellular One MMS
APN: wapgw.chinookwireless.net
Proxy: < not set>
Port: < not set>
Username: < not set>
Password: < not set>
Server: < not set>
MMSC: http://mms.cellonenation.net/mms/

MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 310 (correct for cell one/chinook wireless)
MNC: 570 (correct for cell one/chinook wireless)
