Hey all, first of all I want to say how great this site has been. I've been around for awhile and have learned alot.
My question is that awhile ago my text messages were shown threaded with the person's contact picture next to the message. I can't remember if it was how the phone originally came or one of the many ROMs I've tried. I think it was a separate program that was linked to TF3D, it looked very clean and alittle more fancy then the regular WinMo threaded interface. I'm now using SPB Mobile Shell 3 most of the time but wouldn't mind switching back to TF3D.
I tried searching for text icons, text avatars, SMS pictures, and other things but haven't really found what I'm looking for. Anyone know what I'm talking about and how to get it?
you where using tf3d2 ported from rhodium wherent you.

hey not sure if you've guys have seen what apple have done with their iphone SMS, but i'm in love with that. does anyone know if theres an app that does something similar? i mean right now all my SMS's are just randomly organized by date, would love something where your given a 'instant messenger' kind of approach.
You're a senior member, you should know to search. There is a threaded sms cab here that works - I prefer to use the native Inbox application and will wait until 6.1 cooked which has threaded capabilities.

is windows 6.1 release date still in april? was hoping they'd release something soon.

Does this work with the Vox (since it is for PPC)? Did anyone try it?

i tried it, didnt' work for me....
when i started this thread i was hoping to find something that will organise the SMS in this fashion:
http://www.iphon.fr/public/periode2/iphone-sms.jpg
does anyone actually know if there is an app out there that does this?
I have used it with the Vox, it's not very stable and key presses do not match up properly, thus I don't use it.
There is no application that will do what you have posted in your screen shot. Wait until 6.1 is released out and perhaps it can be pulled out of the ROM and retro fitted.
ya thats what i'm hoping for. is the release date for 6.1 still april? or have they announced an earlier date?
There is an application and is called Extreme Text here is the link
"Extreme Text is the premier Threaded SMS Texting application. It allows you to view all of your Texts as separate conversations for each contact you SMS, much like an Instant Message Conversation. It also adds great features including emoticons, following links in the text, User Defined Text Support, Photo Contact Support, and more..."

ya thats what i'm looking for, but 15 bucks is a hefty price for a small app like that. I just read that WM6.1 will incoporate the iphone sms bubble 'chat' layout, just wondering when the release date for an official release is expected
The PPC guys have already began cooking 6.1 rom from a leaked Kaiser upgrade. We just have to wait for a smartphone upgrade and then we should be able to adapt it to the Vox
Hi,
Is there any sms/mms app for polaris that is like the iphone's one? or similar atleast.
Thank you.
You want threaded view, or just an iCrap look in general?
To tell you the truth I have no idea what is a 'threaded view'. I just need one which I can see both sent and received messages and have a touch interface so it can be comfortable to be used with my thumb.
Can you help?
The threaded view is basically is the same as forum threads, or like chats... do you use gmail? If you do, than there isn't a better example...
There's a program for that, but WM 6.1 uses it as default, so I think it's better to upgrade it...
About the usability... am I the only one who can use it whith a thumb? (if you wan't i can make a video for proof)
Well.. Yes, i need a threaded view application.
Isn't there any third party application with a threaded view.
If you know any please do tell
There should be CAB file lurking around the forum, check in development... or just do a google search... something is bound to turn up...
BTW, I don't recomend 3rd party apps for things like this... they only take space, and program memory... also I don't like overlays for existing programs...
I've been searching for a cab file with the wm 6.1 threaded SMS app for the Polaris and haven't been able to find one anywhere. I've tried third party apps for threaded SMS and they all have their floors - if I don't find a cab I might get tempted to just flash mine with a WM6.1 rom...
Anyone able to think of a way to have it so that messages would be marked as read when previewed in TF3D (similar to text messages)? Sometimes I've already read an email, or it's short, or it's not something I care about and would rather not have to open the message to mark it as read.
Thanks.
use flex mail it is much better than the standard outlook and you can mark mail's sms's as read or unread...you'll never go back to outlook again
I've actually heard good things about FlexMail before. My only concern is that I really do like TF3D, can FlexMail replace Outlook for the mail tab and still work with the fancy (lol) previews and such?
you can try Samapa programe to change the default tmail.exe to flexmail i never tried it..but i tried and changed successfuly the all contacts soft key in touch flo to open icontact and the calender button on the home tab to thumbcal ..so try it and let me know what happens
I'm sorry... Samapa? Google'd to no avail (well, as far as phone-relevant things go).

I think I am going to chicken out and not try it. Other than sounding a bit complicated (maybe just because I am a noob on my first WInMo device), but I also don't see anything where it would be able to maintain the preview functionality (and allow that preview to mark the message as read, which is my actual "issue" or whatever).
Thanks though!
I'd also love to be able to mark emails as read from the TouchFlo preview pane, without opening up the mail app (whether that's Outlook or something else). I do like the idea of the preview, but it would make a significant difference if I could use it to mark unimportant and short emails as read in one step.
Anyone?
I searched all through the new tael rom thread and was unable to find a solution to my problem.
I love the look of sense 2.5 but I am having two issues with text messaging.
One, If I am on the text messaging tab and create a new message It doesn't auto fill the recipient name and doesn't seem to grab any info from my contact list. If I select add receipient it takes me to a blank search people field with none of my contacts listed. The only way I can send a text message is to go phone>contacts>send msg or reply to one that is sent to me.
Two, when I am in landscape mode trying to reply to an sms the send button is off the screen. This I can live with as I know not everything has been ported over the VGA but the first complaint is really an issue.
Thanks in advance.
Ben

1. Texting is weird and a pain. This is due to the new, stupid, built in htc messaging app Jataayu made for HTC. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil with Manila 2.5. Either use the 'disable' cab found in this thread to disable it and use the built in WinMo pocket outlook to SMS (ink in post #1) or use Pyrorob's Contact Picker and Shared Resource CABs.

I know, the post was a half year ago. But thanks, today you solved my problem
htc touch pro
can anyone tell me how to configure my mobile so that my contact name appear when receiving text message from my contact.for htc touch pro can we upgrade the windows or change it to android and if we can increase the camera pixels
thanks for all waiting for reply
I was wondering if there was a way to change the built in messages tab in touchflo. Instead of it's own way of displaying messaging, I just want the good ol' windows messaging app to come up and list all messages when I go to messages, instead of hitting "All Messages" first.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Shaun
I haven't heard of anyone actually doing this. TFlo3d does this because it's an easier way to do it, and i'm almost certain it's hard coded into tf3d.
check out spb mobile shell 3.5 if you want something that'll take you straight to messaging.
