Auto handsfree on stylus pull-out during call - General Questions and Answers

When I pull out the stylus during call to write down something, the screen wakes up and automatically opens the notepad. This is the default behavior of my HTC Touch Pro, and I'm glad it's there. But since I have to take the phone away from my ear in order to be able to write down anything, I can no longer hear the information I am being given. This is frustrating - for me and the person at the other end of the line - because I need to exit notepad, turn on handsfree speaker, and then return to the notepad. This takes some seconds. Is there a way to make the phone turn on the speaker automatically every time stylus is pulled out during call? Or bind this action to the "call answer" hardware key?

G-Profile...
Look into G-Profile. I'm pretty sure it will do what you're asking... at least partially.

Thanks, I'm going to try this app. Meanwhile, I discovered a quick way to turn the speaker on during a call. Simply press and hold "call answer".

Lol, my ear once accepted another incoming call from this girl that I was avoiding for ages... and I didn't even realise I was talking to her, thought it was my other mate.

Ouch!
If i'm not wrong, S2U2 can turn display off during a call. Great software!
I've tried two progs more: PhoneScreenLock and InesoftAddressBook.
Inesoft provide many features including display switch off during a call.
Phonescreenlock keep the display on showing info about the call, locking the screen.. but with long conversation you may frie your ear

Any updates on this one please? I have the same problem with running gazillion apps on my Polaris with my ear in call as benjb did.
Tried PhoneScreenLock - did not work well for me because its buggy (the lock screen pretty often appears somewhere BELOW the in-call buttons or start menu and needs to be switched to via closing in-call screen, which obviously renders it useless).
The InesoftAddressBook is not an option either, cause I already have other address book app and would like to stick with it (BTW my current address book has "slide-to-pick-up-call" feature, which makes me afraid that it would conflict with S2U2).
Sadly the Polaris doesn't have motion or light sensor... It would make my life sooooo easier with ZuinigeRijder's TouchLockPro...
So any ideas on what else I could use please? Thanks!
two things...
1) Are you aware that after you answer/make a call but before you put the phone up to your ear you can press the power button (not press & hold, just press & release) which will turn off the display, but not disconnect your call (or, turn off your phone)? No stray on-screen button pushing this way! With the screen off the "end call/hang up" button still functions and when you press it the screen will come back on immediately. If you need to access your address book or make a note etc during a call, press & release the power button and it will turn the screen back on and not effect your call in any way. If your phone is set up like mine and it returns to the home screen each time the screen is turned on, then simply press the green phone button and the dialer comes back to the top.
2) If #1 doesn't do it for you and you need software to accomplish this, then search this forum for MissedCallReminder (just like that - no spaces). Besides having an option to "lock screen on connect" it has a very handy feature (the main feature actually, as the name indicates) of being able to set up repeat reminders for missed calls and missed sms messages. Very handy. It can be setup to run automatically at startup so you don't have to remember to start it up manually. It also automatically unlocks the screen when you end your call.
Turned out I had bookmarked the app, so here's a link:

Disable call button on bluetooth headset (wm6.1)

My elderly mother-in-law has a wm6.1 smartphone (TMo Dash) and recently got a bluetooth headset. As with most headsets, a single click of the "call button" on it answers or initiates a new call. The problem is she continues to accidentally hit the very sensitive call button and makes call to the most recent number in her call list. Is there any way to prevent a single tap of the call button from automatically dialing the last caller on the phone end (perhaps via a registry edit). I dont know if this is specific to the Dash wm6.1 ROM, or a feature with wm6.1 in general.
BTW, click and hold of the call button activates voice command. It would be great if a single click would activate voice command.
Any suggestions?
Cyberon Voice Command usually takes 1 click to open voice dial and a long click to dial the last number.
I wanted to get rid of voice dial and i managed to do that but i still can't get rid of that "accidental dialing" thing you're talking about.. so i call people and they get to talk to my thigh once or twice a day
One click for Voice command would be OK for her, because VC would just wait for a command then give up. Unfortunately, her phone has one click for last number redial, and long click to activate Voice Command. She is always accidentially clicking the bluetooth button whenever she is handling it, and for some reason I'm the one it calls. When I answer, she usually has just put the thing in her ear and did not realize she called.
I wonder what controls the BT functions, and how these two phone have it differently.
look for Cyberon Voice Speed Dial.
that'll grant you what you wish for

Buttons pressed while calling

When I'm on a call on my Elfin, obviously the phone is pressed against my cheek. Because of that, random things get touched on the screen, which sometimes causes the caller being put on hold, call being disconnected etc. I'm okay with that, I should take care of that. But sometimes the whole call windows gets closed, which is very irritating. I have to open it all over again to hold/disconnect etc. a call.
Is there a way out of this? Possible solution: While on call, one must unlock the screen to use it, (eg. slide unlock, or a simple button press like the camera button or any other). Another solution, don't lock the screen, just lock the call windows, so that it doesn't get closed.
Maybe simple press the power button to put the screen off ? =)

tweak to go to voice mail when resting on screen?

I read somewhere that TP2 can automatically go to voice mail / not ring when you put it on a flat surface face down. Sorry if I missed this anywhere but is there a tweak or setting to do this in Raphael. Thx
bump, anyone?
Just spent 2 mins searching for you... It would apear that you can mute the phone by turning it face down when it starts ringing, but leaving it face down doesnt mute it (ie the act of turning it over silences it). To do this you need to change the registry, you can find the right key to change with a quick search.

[REQ] Call Confirm on Bluetooth

it's been a while I really wanted a special app, but now it's time, two days ago i bought a new BT headset a Samsung bhs3000, the problem lies in the answer button press (read by mistake) redials the latest dialed number. with a call confirm app like Call Confirm so it stops the redialing, BUT I want it either just started when bt hedsetet is connected or/and between certain hours. Is anyone having any suggestions?
only thing I've found is just the reverse of what i want, it turns the call confirm off on bluetooth connect.
I would like to see in the app:
dialog box with something like "would you call?" buddy picture, Number , buttons: call and cancel.
maybe 2-3 simple themes say dark, light, and anything else? (not necessary)
opportunity to have it running regular, on/off at BT connect, between certain hours and on/off bt connect AND times.
do not know right away if I got everything so input is warmly welcomed.
I've been looking for something like this for a while as well. The best advice I can find is, buy a Bluetooth earpiece (headset in your case) where you don't accidentally press the button. I was directed to one with a slider that keeps the button inaccessible. But I don't want to buy a whole new earpiece, and I suspect you don't, either.
Now there is an app in the market, for free, and I forget the name (sorry) that changes what happens when you tap the Bluetooth device's main button. Default is voice command. You can set it to anything you like (or nothing). But I emailed the dev, and they have no control over the long-press of the Bluetooth's main button (seems to be universally redial).
Call confirmation would be a good feature overall. When you call (with Contapps, for example, it's easy to accidentally call if you forget long-pressing a contact calls them, you might think it would bring up a menu) you should be presented with the contact's picture, name, phone number, and maybe other details, with a "swipe to call" and a cancel button.
If something like that were especially elegant, it would even be worth laying down some coin for.

I think we are on the same track here, as for buying a new headset it's not a big deal but the thing is that the Samsung one supports apt-x for better sound quality as do my upcoming sgs3 and changeable ear prices. Long press is fine for voice dial well for me it is. But the single press redial is not
Was searching for that app you mentioned but came up with nothing im afraid :-(
I don't need call confirm all the time only when i have the bt hs connected which I have from 08:00 to 17:00 but to appeal to a broader audience the app could work with that too.

one way to handle this on a rooted system would be to remap the key in /usr/keylayout/avrcp.kl, you could even comment the line out so it doesn't respond to it at all.
Yeah been talking to a guy on a big swedish android forum, he told me the same thing as you but not much more like how and what I should edit.
So any ideas? Is it the same on all phones? Got a xperia play Samsung has F ed up the shipment of pebble blue sgs3 to Sweden.
My file well on the play anyway looks like this :
key 200 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE WAKE
key 201 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE WAKE
key 166 MEDIA_STOP WAKE
key 163 MEDIA_NEXT WAKE
key 165 MEDIA_PREVIOUS WAKE
key 168 MEDIA_REWIND WAKE
key 208 MEDIA_FAST_FORWARD WAKE
