Since the threads are becoming too long to keep an overview on everything I would like to start a poll on which Radio ROM ist providing the best results.
Specifically there seem to be issues reported for the following:
ROM 1.13: Issues with data network reconnect ("modem not responding")
ROM 1.15: Bluetooth stops working
ROM 1.09: Seemingly stable
Please provide your experiences
BTW: I'm using 1.13 richt now and have the reported issues with the data network not reconnecting.
I use 1.14.10 as 1.15 place where I live cannot provide normal reception. At 1.14.10 there are some problems
1. Suddenly disconnected GPRS
2. 2 second pause at a raising of a tube
3. 2 second pause a release
i moved back to 1.09 wich so far is the most stable without having calls missed.
Radio 1.17.00...?
i saw Mamaich use Radio 1.17 in the Signature....
is that True...?
HTC Universal (PU10, SuperCID)

Using 1.13 data problems
i'm using 1.13 since it passed all test run by jwrightmcps while its rom 2.02.00 WWE.
1st Problemon the whole i do not get low signal problem nor there is any data disconnection while on pda but when using usb modem on pc; it does disconnect data.
2nd problem i feel is that i am unable signin to my Windows Live Messenger till now. it says synchronization error. you may be in low coverage area. ---> and my signals are always full.
3rd Problem i cannot send or receive mms since i stacked my universal with 1.13. it reaches 99% and suddenly the baloon disappears and the message stays in the outbox (unsent) with the status of PENDING on its envelop icon
farehmani
Using 1.15 and use the bluetooth headset. have yet to experience the not working problem, yet.
however, if bluetooth is not left on, and i were to beam a file using Resco, sometime bluetooth will freeze and a soft reset is required to regain functionality.
hope someone would post the link to radio 1.17 for me to try out
The problem here is that the choice is rather limited in the poll.
I'm using 1.15 but to be honest I don't notice any difference between that or 1.13 or 1.14.1.
I'm based in England, but don't use GPRS or pushemail; maybe that means I'm not au fait with the subtle differences between the versions?
I just think there are too many variables and it is a personal preference?
1.09 is very stable
Hi,
I have tried them all and I get back to 1.09.00
It was the most stable and functional one for me.
Tried the following
1.08
1.09
1.10.03
1.11
1.12 (fixed)
1.13
1.14.10
1.15
So far, I've had problems with all of them, but hell that's just how the uni works
with 1.15 and 1.14.10 I have loss in BT connection along with hanging 3G and missing calls when the device is on.
1.12 is a bit better
Have to try 1.13 again and also 1.10.03
1.09 Still gives me the best result basicaly
haven't tried 1.08 because 1.09 is mostly used and 1.08 seems like a step back
mamaich! Post 1.17 Radio here please
I have used 1.13, 1.14.10 and 1.15 and at the beginning 1.09 but I have one big Problem but don't know if it's with the radio:
I can hear some people very hard (they are too quiet) and the same the other way around. They hear me very hard. Have tried it with the PDAVIET/Darkforce WM6 and Radio 1.14.10 and 1.15. But once I had a WM6 ROM (Think it was Helmi's 1.1) which was VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. Is there an option to turn up the Volume or do I have to try every RADIO backwards?
I agree.
Radio 1.15 is no good. Very unstable. I've lost reception many times, mainly from going in a place with no reception and then back outside. It'll search and search and search and it'll find NOTHING. i have to do a soft reboot in order to get reception again.
I'm gonna try out 1.09, my jasjar came with 1.13

No similar problems with my Radio 1.15, using O2 in the UK. When I'm on the train or the underground and lose the connection, it quickly reconnects once reception is available.

I agree - I'm on T-Mobile, and 1.15 is the BEST of the available ROMs for me (I'm using Helmi's v1.1). The older ROMs generally seem to have better data handling, but poorer voice facilities. v1.15 is fine for voice, and has the most stable data of all the ROMs I've tried (and I've tried them all).
I think it's been said before, but is probably worth repeating; the different radio ROMs seem to give differing results in different territories. The best option is to try them out for yourself, and pick the best one. At least with a radio upgrade there's no hard reset, so you shouldn't lose any data. (Having said this, I tend to get some minor settings changed when I flash, but it's not a big deal to reset them - worth taking a backup if you have the facility).
Cheers,
Steve.

hi there,
I have a polaris rom: 3.13.405.0 WWE, radio: 1.59.42.15 25.85.30.07H
my regular nokia phone is broken so after some time I need to use polaris again
I have a issue with bluetooth - starting from within comm manager doesn't work at all ..
when I turn on bluetooth, after few seconds of "working", it switch ON for a short moment and then back OFF
is this a hardware issue? or is this a software issue? how can I check it? do I need to try to reinstall with another rom?
btw: wifi works, data over mobile works
any idea would be appreciated
cheers
Got same problem, rom M.Amine 2.0
It's ROM problem. I have simillar problems now, which were NOT present in previous ROM.
Probably Radio part is guilty...
Hey Guys,
I have been browsing the forum and I had my GPS working for awhile with google maps but now with GPStest I can't get past the gps is starting up point. I had installed ATT navigator, but then I uninstalled it. I have Quickgps updated but i'm not getting an accurate reading on google. I have it set to com4 4800 and on gps test i have it set to com4 38400. I've tried altering setting but to no avail. What should I do?

I used the com4 38400 setting for all, and that did the trick. It still takes a little while for the first fix, but then it works fine until a soft reset when you have to do it all again. Are you using stock ROM, what radio are you using? These might me part of the problem.
Yea i have it set to those setting but i never get a lock it just stays on GPS starting up and never gets past that. I have the [ROM][WWE][3.8.2009][5.2.20771 1.4.6]Just Perfect FUZE ROM[1.1 Released] flashed. I'm not familiar with radio maybe thats the problem. There is fm radio installed but i've never used it...
ROM
Windows Mobile 6.1
CE OS: 5.2.20771
Build: 20771.1.4.6

Talking about a different type of radio, you can find out more info here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Raphael_ExtractedRadioRoms
I highly recommend radio: 1.12.25.19 my GPS improved greatly after flashing that one. Works even better if you have the AT&T test ROM or one based off it, like NATF's 4.5
You can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439566
Follow this great guide if you decide to flash a new radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Follow steps 1, 2 (if you have not flashed HardSPL) and 5
I have a DHD, rooted with ENG S-Off and Radio S-Off. I have the latest MIUI Android 1.7.1 installed (beautiful ROM ).
However since install I am showing roaming all the time and my data connection is non existent. My BT and Wifi are good with no issues noted and my call signal is fine for calls, no drops noticed.
I can see that my signal is with my own carrier (3 UK) and as such the roaming indicator is obviously untrue.....
Other than roaming the only other issue is a very noticable delay during calls, however this may be totally unrelated.
I have spent days looking to try and find the best radio / RIL combination both here and on MIUI Android foruns without success, but have read all sorts of comments regarding both.
My current radio is 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_m2
My RIL is HTC-RIL 2.2.0018G (Mar 24 2011,20:20:09)
Do you think my issue is due to radio / RIL combo or something else.....
I have just tried the following RIL's without sucess, i.e. still showing roaming while on home network:
HTC-RIL_2.2.0099HM
HTC-RIL_2.2.0131HM
HTC-RIL_2.2.1003G
HTC_RIL_2.2.1001G-signed
RIL_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2
I have a few more to try.....
Could it not just be a ROM issue? Have you tried to flash a different ROM and see if the same persists?
Thanks stylez, I have tried MIUI UK 1.6.24 and now 1.7.1 and i have also tried MIUI US 1.6.24 and all have shown the same issue.
My stock Sense ROM was fine as was LEEDROID and Android Revolution.
So I am assuming this is a MIUI / Radio / RIL issue....
Have only boshed MIUI on once and didn't enjoy the setup, i was using the Radio Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 didn't change RIL but can't remember having issue u mention, but as said was only a short run.
Interesting with new ROM
Google navigation crashes on CM10. Is there some sort of fix for this?
I know this is a old problem, but trying to grave dig a solution just provides me with nothing.
My setup
hBoot: 1.09
Radio: TMUS 1.08ts
This happens to me as well. Regardless of ROM (Sense/CM). And it happens to lots of other people as well. No solution in sight.
