Problem overwriting browser.dll WM6.1 - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I've searched the forum and tried most of the suggestions but nothing works, I am trying to overwrite the windows file browser.dll on a Trinity.
I have tried total commander, no go, I can't see the windows directory on my pc to try to replace it from there, I have ticked show all files but it keeps reverting to default setting.
Can it be because of the cooked ROM?
Has anyone had this problem and sorted it out?
Any help would be appreciated.

You most likely need to copy the nk.nbf file into the same directory as the romupdateutility.exe file.

Make sure the phone is in active sync mode. My diamond i had this problem then realized that i had it in disk drive mode. switched it back and i was fine.
hey.. problem solved for me.
Click that "View README" button right next to the llast button you click before you get the error.
Where is that file located on your computer? For me it didnt load, but it said "could not find file at c:\windows\system32\readme.doc".
I took the cue, and moved my *.nbh file into the system32 folder. Voila! It was weird because I was running the ruu.exe file from the desktop (on a vista PC). I guess for some reason it was looking in system32??
So give the above a try. Might work for ya
Hi,

I read up on the rom (Dark vısıon) and ıt warned of thıs and suggested ınstallıng a dıfferent rom then tryıng agaın.
I ınstalled the recomend rom but when ı went to try and ınstal dark vısıon agaın...

Help for the Hermes Group!

In this thread we are looking at getting SMS notification of VM on an Orange M3100 working for WM6. It is mentioned that SMS notification is working for Orange M5000s running WM6 and so we are lookng to "steal" a copy of SMS_providers.dll from one.
Can anyone help by attaching it to the thread? Thanks in advance.

Getting SMS_Providers.dll Onto The Device
Hi, I've recently upgraded my SPV M3100 to WM6 using the HTC official rom, I've manage to get everything working but the Voicemail notifications which I believe the sms_providers.dll fixes.
Please could someone let me know how to get this file into my \windows directory. Whenever I try it I just get the following error:
Cannot Copy 'sms_provider': Access is denied.
Be certain that the there is enough from storage memory (there is), that the destination is not write-protected and tha the file is not currently in use.
What I'm Doing:
1. Placed the sms_providers.dll onto my storage card.
2. Run 'File Explorer' on the device.
3. Performed a 'Cut' on the sms_providers.dll (on storage card).
4. Navigated to \windows & performed a paste.
5. Clicked Yes to overwrite the current file.
6. Error as described above
Well it means that sms_providers.dll already exists in your \windows directory, and it is currently read only/write protected. You might want to try another File Manager program like Total Commander or Resco Explorer to work around it. But if it is part of the ROM, then there is no way you can over write it. You will have to include sms_providers.dll in your WM6 ROM via kitchen then reflash again.
Many thanks DaVince, Total Commander did its magic and moved the sms_providers.dll without winging, rebooted the phone and wallaaa, workin.
Here's a link for Total Commander if anyone else needs it.
Many thanks
Nice to hear you got your problems fixed.

unmodified shellres.192.dll from windows folder [solved !!]

Hello.
I want to change my windows start logo and only that one, so I wanted to modify the shellres.192.dll
But I am unable to copy it out of my windows folder. I used Resco Explorer and Total Commander and even some rom dump tools I found, but I can't access it. I also tried over active sync.
Moreover I tried to extract one out of a ROM Update, but I failed at extracting it at some point. I found some shellres.192.dlls but they were not for Leo or even WM 6.5.
How can I get a stock shellres.192.dll from the HD2?
Thank you very much!
EDIT: I managed to do it.
Used Rom Extractor: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335540
I tried before, but seems I made an error. This picture showed me how to do it right:

(Resolved) Not possible to overwrite Manilla files

After a reset of the Leo (Dutch-148) I'm not able to overwrite Manilla files. I've reset the Leo several times but still no joy. The message I get is: not sufficient rights or the file is read only or memory is low.
I have a completely clean Leo, nothing installed. I try to write the Manilla files to windows where all the manilla files are.
Now I'm convinced I do something wrong (or maybe stupid) but are not able to figure out what. Before the reset I was able to overwrite Manilla files.
Suggestions anybody?
