Hi,
Hoping someone can offer me a little advice. I live in the UK and had an 18 month contract with T-Mobile which ended at the end of March 2009. I have been on a rolling contract ever since waiting for T-Mobile to release a decent phone worthy of upgrade.
I deceided to buy a HTC Touch Pro 2 from Mobilephonesdirect a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying the phone for £25 together with a new contract with T-Mobile on a new number for the next 18 months. I was told if would be much cheaper for me to do it this way that try and arrange an upgrade on my existing number.
So as for my old number I deceided to get a PAC code and go to Vodaphone to keep the number available. What I wanted to ask is can I now get a PAC code from Vodaphone and go back to T-Mobile and try and get my old number transferred. Is this a possible loop hole to try out. Has anyone done this before.
I wanted to ask your advice before proceeding as I don't want any trouble with T-Mobile. Will they try and charge me anything for this and will it look suspicious. Should I wait a month before doing so or is there a law to say you can't bring a number back.
Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

I am looking to buy a touch diamond 2 in the next 3 weeks and have a general question regarding contacts and keeping my current phone number.
In order to get the TD2 for an affordable price I need to take out a new contract with the same provider (t-mobile) am currently with. An upgrade is out of the question as the phone would cost more than the new contract. I would like to keep the same number, so is it possible to transfer my current number to a pay as you go sim then transfer the number from the pay as you go sim to the new contract?
If so can someone give me an idea on the timescales involved and timings to avoid as little phone downtime as possible. Anyone done this? or any advice regarding the procedure is most welcome.

Hey,
Ok I'm looking for a little help from someone who knows about upgrades at Phones 4 U.
I used to know someone who worked at phones 4 U and know that they will let you "upgrade" early by buying out the remainder of your contract and placing you on a new one instead of giving you cashback or accessory incentives.
My Question is, Does anyone know how early they will let you get an upgrade?
I got my G1 in February 2009 on an 18 month contract. If P4U Will let me upgrade on 12 months I will get the Nexus One (assuming it's out here by then). If they wont, I'd wait for the HTC Bravo. My contract cost's £35 a month and therefore on 12 months it would cost £210 to buyout.
Anyone?
I don't know the answer to this, but I know someone who had a contract with 9mths remaining bought out by Phones4u as they were going onto a new 18mth contract of £35 per month. The previous contract was £30 per month (if I remember correctly).
I think it would depend on the new contract you take out as in is it a big contract (£30+ per month), is it with a handset they're struggling to shift stock of? And also, what's the commission for them like from the operator for getting a new customer on board?
I'd guess that you wouldn't be able to keep your existing number but I could be completely wrong.
Best thing to do would be to go into the store, and make an enquiry at first - test the water. If you hover around the handset stands and they come to you quickly, that'd usually mean they're pushing for sales which is likely as people will be spending less after Christmas!
Given the problems Voda users seem to be experiencing im a little wary of upgrading to this phone first thing, especially as im a longstanding WinMo user jumping ship... The question I'm asking is more directed at those of you UK TMO that have upgraded in the past.
I have the opportunity to get one of these (assumedly uk) simfree for the 15th preordering from an online retailer (yes, the big 'A'.co.uk) for £500. I rang 150 today and natch they were tight lipped about my options as my upgrade isnt for a coupla weeks, but seeing as im on their flext 40 tariff that gives me virtually unlimited everything with no overcharges for data and a FUP of a Gig, I would like to hang on to that. It was however an 18mth contract that let me get the HD2 last Jan. so if i can save ~£20 a month from commiting to a phoneless upgrade then over 2yrs it more or less pays for itself, running by the math.
But just how likely is that saving?
Also they have nothing on their radar yet for this phone in their upgrade dept so it may be a while before they can even offer it to their customers and theres no guarantee I will get it without forking out some towards the handset or maybe even having to go for a new tariff entirely, hence why im leaning towards ordering online to get it sooner.
As i tend to stick with stock roms is a simfree option going to cause issues if i want to use say the online video stream services with the TMO sim, or get upgrades from htc.com in the future for example? Does the rom brand not matter much these days?
Seeing as my upgrade option is before the online store will deliver I will know one way or the other but forwarned is forarmed and I would like to phone TMO up with a bit of an idea of how they play beforehand...
Thanks guys!

I thought that this phone was coming out on T-Mobile in the UK next month but I could be mistaken.
If you are on T-Mobile and you don't see the phone you want now, they should be able to give you a discount down to £20 or less for up to 6 months. This discount will disappear once you upgrade.
ROMS do make a difference. Often the telephone companies will be slow to updated their ROMS or you may never get an update that is available for stock ROM options. IF the phone is fully unlocked by HTC then you will be able to remove the T-Mobile ROM and upgrade via this site in the future if you aver need to.
Hi everyone. I have a slightly awkward situation which I'm sure someone has been in - and I'm hoping for some advice.
I've preordered the HTC One in black on Three. Problem is, their delivery estimate is end of April. So let's say 30th April at the latest. Now, I want to port my existing number from O2 - no problem, I know how to arrange all that.
So here is where I'm less sure. My current O2 contract ends on 27th April, i.e. just before I might get the new phone. So, will my PAC code remain valid after I go out of contract with O2? Will I have to keep with O2 and take out a pay and go or month to month just to hold onto the number?
Thanks for the advice.
Hello friends. My Sprint account is going to be cancelled on the 5th of next month. I was with sprint last 10 years and I wanted to leave and see some other networks. So yesterday I received an email from sprint and it says plz come back and we'll give you $300 each line you reconnect! I just shocked because that's huge offer. I have 10 lines so 10 X 300 =3000?? So my question is what they mean reconnect because I'm still with sprint. One more week left until my account completely canceled. Do I ahve to still leave and then port the numbers back? Sorry if I asked wrong question but I need your opinions. Thank you!
You asked the right question, but you need to ask a sprint representative. If you can't get what you want with support/sales call, ask to be escalated to retentions department. That's the way I've always gotten the best deal, when at the end of a contract. I usually take whatever I can get at that time, because Sprint is still killing the competition.
Consider Project Fi
It's a good way to get Sprint's network (and T Mobile's too) for much cheaper monthly rates, if you don't use tons of data.
Also a good way to get a discount on a Nexus phone if you want one.
