Hi all,
I just started with Android. I downloaded the latest polaris bundle from androidonhtc.com, copied everything to my htc touch cruise, and started haret. What do you know, everything worked out-of-the-box! (Well, I didn't have a keyboard, but it's a start). However, after rebooting to windows mobile, and starting haret again, it hangs when the "Loading Linux" progressbar is at 100%. The only way to get out of there is to remove the battery, the power button does nothing anymore.
I already removed the installed files, and copied the originals again, but that didn't help, so I assume that something has changed.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi all, just found the site, it's excelent.
Anyway, I'm an orbit 2 newbie, but got stuck straight into customising mine, and found some great apps on here.
I installed Ultimatelaunch and it was all working great with weatherpanel and looking good.
Yesterday it just sudednely stopped, now even with unlitmatelaunch off it still won't always display what's on my today screen and ultimatelaunch just isn't there at ll.
I've tried reinstalling it but no joy.
I'm guessing ai'll have to reset everything? How do I do that, and is there anything else I can try before I do?

Soft Reset (by gently poking the stylus into the small hole to the left of the USB connector is always the best first option for a Windows Mobile device. This dosen't lose any data, but does ensure that all running programs (and any memory leaks etc.) get cleared down properly, just like restarting windows on your PC.

right, thanks, I've done that and it seemed to work.
I got ultimatelaunch working again, but when I added weatherpanel to it, it all went pear shaped again.
It worked for a few minutes, then I got an error saying could not load dll then ultimatelaunch packed in again.
Is there a problem using ultimate launch and weatherpanel together ?

My phone shows strange behavior now 2 times in a row: After some time, i suddenly get an error, that some exe wasnt found and i cannot start any application, the start menu gets empty, etc.
It's like he cannot access the hard-drive ( ) anymore, just like what happens if you turn your hard-disk off while xp is still running (try it, its fun!)
Afterwards, i cannot get past bootscreen if i soft-reset. ONLY a hard-reset or reflashing works.
I remember, that i didn't always did a hard-reset after flashing a new rom, could this MAYBE be the issue? I flashed my phone after the first incident and now did a hard reset after the second one.
I'm going through this problem for almost 4 weeks, just when I was away of a computer by 1 mile..
I was getting problems to connect to internet with my PDA, and nothing worked.
Then some apps stopped working (like Messenger, Internet Explorer, and such included apps) and I decided to format my phone by using the HardSPL method. Installed everything again, and then everything was working fine.
After a few days, the buttons stopped working: Couldn't answer calls, or use D-Pad, couldn't get off standby mode and so on. Every time I needed to use my phone, I got to hardreset the PDA, wait it to power on, and use it. It was VERY annoying. So, formatted again and installed a new ROM. Everything worked fine and after a few days, again.. Couldn't get off standby mode.
I read somewhere that it happens when the SD card becomes faulty. It was. I formatted the SD and copied all the contents again. Formatted again the phone, and installed everything again. After a few minutes (yes, minutes), the phone wasn't responding again. I got to plug the headphones and press the HF key and sometimes it got back from standby.
When phone is kind of.. "null", I can't receive calls. SMS are rejected. But the power, Bluetooth and Wifi light keeps blinking as it was active.
I'm using a temporary phone right now. I can't handle it anymore. But I miss my PDA :S
A bit more info: I'm using Spanish NiAX WM6.5.3 ROM. And first ROM was Spanish NiAX WM6.5.1. Maybe it's a ROM fault. I don't know :S

PS: Read some other threads about this. Switched 3G/2G, changed SIMCARD and SDCard and still not working

The problem is my Polaris has a couple bad blocks on its NAND.
In traditional english: The support of the OS (AKA Windows Mobile, or Android, for example) is damaged, so in certain points the data written becomes inaccessible or has trash data. That's the reason the phone doesn't wake up.
I can happen too if you have a faulty SDCard. The point is: Some data couldn't be read.
Currently I'm researching about how to live with this. There's nothing to do with Windows Mobile as far as I know, but we can make it work by using some custom set-up of Android.
I'll let you all know if I get some news, or see HERE where I'll post everything I find

That could be your problem(corrupted files) Check for viruses too(Not too careful)

I think that can't be the problem, since I formatted the SD card and put all the fresh content again (music an cabs from my home PC).
I found out that a new fresh installed rom works fine, until I install any cab.
The cabs I have, are stored on SDcard and installed to Phone Memory.
Maybe CABS are faulty. Or it's not recommendend to install from the SDCard.
I'll try installing the new rom again, and Installing all cabs from Activesync.
I'll publish any news.

Still not working.
I read somewhere that this is caused by SRS WOW with Security off patch.
tomorrow I'll reinstall the rom again, and all the software without that cab.
Worked fine for 3 minutes, SDCard wasn't plugged and failed once installed Simcard.
What comes into my mind, try downgrading everything to official HTC ROM, by everything i mean also radio(unplug sdcard and simcard when flashing)
Then check if it works, if not maybe there's hardware fault.
Try different simcard too.
What software are you using?
I suggest you follow pcarvalhos or alexander-voigt instructions on how to flash (basically you have to flash official wm6.1 before flashing a ROM if you observe stability issues) and then flash pcarvalho, alexander voigt (or mines). It should work if you follow the instructions exactly. Then try again Niax' rom

Hi,
today I decided to test Android on my HTC Topaz. I decided to test this one on a copy of my SD-Card, just to be sure that I could revert to the original one in case something goes wrong.
After starting HaRET.exe everything seemed to go as excpected. After calibrating the screen I saw a few times the "XDANDROID" logo flying around. But suddenly after that, the Smartphone booted back to Windows Mobile.
Since then, I am no longer able to start any Windows Mobile app that is located on SD-Card. This is not only true for the copied card but also for the original one!
So it seems, that HaRET.exe has done something to my Windows system.
Can anybody help me?

further investigation showed me, that probably the windows file system got corrupted after HaRET stopped windows mobile. I had to hard reset the phone

hey guys, i really need some help here. i bought the Kyros MID8127 a couple of weeks ago from CL, and it was ok except there was no google play store or any other google apps like appslib, maps, calendar, contacts, etc. i installed them all, but the play store kept crashing. i looked up online for a resolution, and someone suggested that i cleared the user data for google.framework.services or whatever its called. the tablet immediately crashed, tried to reboot. the tablet loaded up from the Coby logo, then to the android logo, then it crashed again and now i can't get past the coby logo! I can't even turn it off, once it turns on it freezes. i have to let the battery die to turn it off, and plug it in to turn it on. fortunately, the device has a reset button. i can boot in fastboot and fwdn mode, but i don't really know where to go from here. i downloaded the adt bundle with sdk manager. installed everything, but when i try to run the found new hardware wizard, it can't find the driver anywhere. i've tried to look it up, but every site says to install it from sdk. i've already done that but it still doesn't work! interesting note, when i plug in the tablet it doesn't register with my pc at all, when i run it as fwdn mode it says storage device, and when i run it as fastboot mode it recognizes it as an android. so i guess what i'm asking is; where do i go from here? thanks for the help in advance!
