I have a Fuze with the stock AT&T rom, and I can't get the keyboard lag to go away. I've downloaded a couple keyboard fixes (RR Keyboard, Tilt Keyboard fix), but they haven't fixed the issue (RR worked for about a day, then the lag returned). As far as I can tell, I have all T9 and word suggestion turned off, and I've searched the forums quite extensively, but this is my first HTC/Winmo phone, and it's driving me nuts. I've only had the phone for about a month.

I'm having a strange issue with my HW keyboard.
The keyboard is working fine most of the time. But there are moments it doesn't respond (ones a week).
Example: When I open the keyboard and start writing a mail it's working fine. But after two rows text it's just not reacting anymore. Even the keyboard-backlight is turning off.
When I close and reopen the keyboard it's still not working. Even the keyboard-backlight stays off after pressing any hardware button.
Solution: Wait for 15minutes.
Tried fixes for HW keyboard lag without success.
This is what I have:
T-mobile NL rom
Rom: 1.69.114.6 NLD
Radio: 1.02.25.19
Is there anyone else experience this issue with a T-mobile ROM?
Or is there a fix for this.
Thanks in advance
Assume you have WiFi on? Go into the WiFi settings and the power mode of the WiFi, if it is set to best performance change it to best battery, or do the opposite. Not 100% sure why this works but its something to do with power and comms interferance.
Mmm have seen this fix before in other threads.
Somehow i'm losing network connection when I switch the energie bar to someting else then "Best performance". Think it have something to do with my old wireless router. Will test this today on my work. Thank Gav_
Hi there,
I have seen a simular issue on my Touch Pro as well - Keyboard is not responding as soon wifi is turned on manually.
I have encountered this first while using IM (Beejive and also QIP). Having data connections turned on and activating wifi while data connections are on will stop the keyboard from responding.
Solution for me is to turn off either the data connection after turning on wifi and / or switching wifi on/off two times.
I use the stock rom and wifi energy option is set to best battery. Is this a known issue that the keyboard has glitches with wifi?
Rom: 1.90.407.4 GER
Radio: 1.02.25.19
Performence bar
Changed the energie bar a few times yesterday. To test on which position this issue appears.
And guess what?
Keyboard stopped responding when the bar was placed on the "best performance" position.
I've configureerd it to "best battery" (think this is the name, I'm having the Dutch Rom )
Still don't understand what Wifi have to do with the keyboard. Is WM using the same driver to start / stop Wifi or keyboard?
Anyway I think/hope it's solved by setting the performance bar to "best battery".
Thanks guys
still have issues with hw keyboard
I have an unsolved Issue with the Hardware Keyboard of my HTC Fuze.
When i turn on the Wifi, the HQ keyboard becomes totally unresponsive and unusable. Keyboard lights turned off, and i have to Reset or turn off the Wifi in order to get the Keyboard back to function. (it back to life after couple of minutes)
I have searched for any possible solution in the forum and google without luck
i have tried all fixes i have found in this forum so far:
-modify the up/down repeat rate
-disabling t9/cleartype
-adjusting wifi to middle, better battery and better performance
-RR Keyboard Speed Increase.cab
After all this attempts, my Keyboard still tend to die. Anyway it works well with the Data Plan, with no Lag at all. So is definitely a Wifi Issue.
Hardware keyboard Not working for Htc touch pro
Hi, My HTC touch pro slid out keyboard was working fine but after updating ROM to English it had stop working. can anyone tell me what is the problem?
I've been having intermittent keyboard issues for a while. Sometimes it won't respond until a sort reset while other times it'll just suddenly start working again. I had no idea it was a WiFi related issue. My Kaiser did the same sometimes.
Now the damn spacebar is playing up. It either identifies a press as two spaces requiring the use of the delete key every time or it just won't recognise key presses. It's infuriating. Anyone come across this before or will it require a manual (warranty) fix?
keyboard issues
I had issues with my keyboard stopping intermittently it would work sometimes and not others. It would rotate screen when I popped it out then it wouldnt type and a few seconds later the backlight on the kbd would go out. I flashed to a different rom and that helped sometimes but not others. Then right before going to sprint and asking for a replacement I flashed back to their stock rom for a week, still no kbd. But magically when I re-locked the phone the keyboard is back to normal.. still had the phone swapped out just incase it was something else. I hardly ever use the wifi so I don't think that was my issue, it was off the whole time I had the issue. New phone works great.

What type of "Re-lock"??
SIM Lock, Cid lock, security lock, pin lock??
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, so please bear with me if I have posted in the wrong section.
I am with T Mobile UK and I have the MDA Vario IV.
Recently, I have had a strange problem when using my slide out keyboard. When I use the onscreen keyboard, I can see the text as I type. However, when I use the slide out keyboard, I can see the cursor moving as I type, but I can't see the text being typed. This happens when composing an SMS, typing into Google's search box, entering log in details for Facebook, etc etc.
As I am Deaf, I obviously use SMS and emails a lot, so this is a problem, as I find the slide out keyboard MUCH easier to use than the onscreen one.
Hope you can help.
Wayne.
How fast do you begin typing after you slide out the keyboard? I know sometimes when I begin typing too quickly after sliding it out that the cursor will move while I'm typing but no letters will be displayed...but then they all pop up at once.
Have you used a tweaking tool or registry editor to turn on ClearType in Landscape?
There is a known issue with the font not displaying.

You are correct David....that WAS the problem!
Thanks - all working fine now
keyboard lag solved - possible software conflict
I had tried all the above fixes and they helped, but did not fully alleviate the lag. I was getting annoyed and wishing my hermes was still alive.
Then I remembered that the only real difference in my keyboard setups between the fuze and the 8525 was that I was using the iphone like full qwerty sip instead of the keyboard sip. i selected the finger unfriendly keyboard sip, and voila the slide ouy now has instantaneous response. no lag at all.
It seems to be that the full qwerty sip option forces a t9 function even when you have all that turned off.
Happy again except for the laggy shift between portrait and land scape.
now to find an iphone sip clone that doesnt affect the slideout. By the way this is with the recent stock att rom.
further issues with keyboard
The lagging keyboard issue continues to nag me. it seems to be related to the fuze having a difficuly time with switching to landscape mode. for instance in opera mini when i switched to landscape to type this there is no lag. if I am using messaging for text or email, when I switch to landscape, the lag occurs until I change the sip. it doesnt matter which sip i change to or from, just that it gets changed. i suspect that it has something to do with resetting the keyboard drivers. anyone else noting this problem. Anyone know of a fix? I have t9x turned off, cleartype turned off.
When im typing on my phone, it usually works fine for a little then starts to lag and some keys i press dont work... i dont know if this is a problem with the touchscreen or the software. if i lock the phone and unlock it, usually it will work. so im hoping it isnt the keyboard. is there a solution for this?

I have noticed this bug on sense 2.1 roms. If you rotate the screen it will switch keyboards and fix it and you can just rotate it back. I have never experienced this on 3.0 and higher sense roms. I think its just a bug on 2.1.
Also it has been a reported bug on CM7 roms, I believe its CM7 roms or maybe older versions too. There is no current fix. Some users just use a keyboard from the market like swiftkey or something like that. Its an app you have to pay for, but seems to get rid of the issue.
I ran into a similar issue last night when I was typing a post on another forum. My keyboard lagged greatly and then just stop responding for a few seconds. However it seemed to only happen when I was in my browser typing on the forum page. It was happening on Dolphin Browser and the stock browser. I tested it with three different keyboards (Swiftkey X, Gingerbread Keyboard, and stock Sense keyboard). All lagged. Restarting didn't resolve. The lag did not happen with other apps like GO SMS, Twitter, or Facebook. Nor did it happen on a couple other websites I tested on. I noticed when I turned off the vibration, or lowered the vibrate time, the lag lessened. I'm thinking it's an issue with memory or processing speed, but I have no idea how I would test or resolve something like that.
I'm running ARHD 6.1.5, only slightly OC'd.
Now that I think about it. It sounds like all 2.3.3 based roms have this bug, aosp or sense.
Not sure I've seen this before. I'm fully stock with an unlocked bootloader and when writing an email or a post of any lenght, my keyboard begins to slow down to a crawl and is almost unresponsive at times. Anyone has similar experience or how can I solve this problem.
I've had this problem for a while now, completely stock through all of the point releases. Restarting helps for a little bit. Now I swipe everything I type to cut down on the lag. I rarely turn my phone sideways to type anymore. That's one way to fix it, lol.
Only seen this happening since the last Google Keyboard update, myself. A reboot fixed it up though.
Hello guys,
I have tried with default Samsung Keyboard and tried with Swiftkey and noticed that when I am typing certain words like "Allergy" or "Where" for example, it suddenly interrupts the swipe pattern and changes the word to "All" with space next to it as if there was an error registering the touch gesture as I touch each key on the keyboard. It seems that this happens a lot near the letter G.
This does not happen on my S21 ultra. Tried without screen protector, and same issue so its not the protector. Tried *#0*# and did a display Touch test and it registered everything perfectly. Tried clearing cache/data no luck. Tried disabling/enabling auto correct and no luck either.
Does anyone have this erratic typing issue?
Hello mate, yes I also have this issue, on any of the keyboard, I tried Samsung stock keyboard, gboard, microsoft keyboard, some other mates are also experiencing this issue in Yandex keyboard.
maybe you can use google translate, but this is russian forum https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1029360&st=4120#entry114129735 here is the example
also another mate already reported the problem to the samsung members and they acknowledged it

It is a feature, the new text prediction is by GRAMMARLY, but like in this forum, doesn't work well and the cursor goes crazy.
Solution, TURN OFF PREDICTIVE TEXT.
nah, disabling predictive text does not help.
Exactly same issue on S22U exynos! Very, very annoying.
Any other better alternative keyboard ?
the only solution here is not to use swipe feature of the keyboard, as this issue appears on ANY keyboards (personally tested).
I would suggest Fleksy, as it is designed to type manually, and wait for a fix of this problem.
personally, it is one of the serious reasons to sell this phone (sadly)...
There's a thread in the Samsung members app about the same exact thing, it started with the April update. I haven't gotten the May update yet, I'm hoping it will fix it but I don't have that high of hopes. It's definitely a software bug though.
Did anyone try to rollback to a March firmware?
Also, if someone received May update, could someone confirm that issue is resolved?
Thanks
it is NOT fixed, yet...
UP.
Seems like swype is fixed with the newest update S908BXXU2AVEH.
I'm currently on it and checking that everything is good.
Can someone confirm that?
I've experienced the same wonkiness described by the OP with SwiftKey on both my S22 Ultra and Tab S7. In fact it happened while typing this on my Tab S7. I'm not able to consistently replicate it though. Or at least not able to purposely replicate it.
Okay so I've been experiencing this same issue and this is everything I've found so far.
The issue is when swype typing on any keyboard. I enabled touch pointer in dev options to see exactly what was going on the screen and what's happening is for example when swype typing the word "everything" the screen recognizes when touch the E and begin moving towards the V but it loses the touch and detects it again so it thinks you finished typing a word and started again therefore the word EV is put on the screen and a new word is started. This is very aggravating. I've noticed that it happens a lot with words starting with E, A, W, S and if you notice those are all in the same area of the keyboard.
What I've done to fix it. I use film screen protectors instead of glass. I thought the SP were too thick and it was messing with the touch sensitivity but i tried several and nothing changed. I tried various settings in the phone especially the touch sensitivity option for screen protectors and turning it on definitely helped but the issue remained.
What i did was take the screen protector off completely, leave the touch sensitivity option enabled in settings and the issue is completely gone. So the issue lies somewhere with the sensitivity of the screen and screen protectors limiting the touch sensitivity.
This is all I've got so maybe this info will help anyone having the same issues. Hopefully Samsung will adjust the sensitivity in upcoming updates.
No worries, mates
This issue was fixed with June update
I have already installed it, running for 3 days, everything is working great, no problems with swipe typing
S908BXXU2AVEH
I can confirm also that the issue was fixed in the latest update.
