Ok. I have been a Windows Mobile user since the original Cassiopeia (1998). I currently have the fuze and my wife has an iPhone. The iphone has a lot of cool apps that I would like to see on the Windows Mobile platform. However, i cannot find anything that come even close. I don't know if I am not looking well enough.
Some Apps:
Sportacular, iSports, MLB at bat on iPhone - For windows mobile we have GetSportz which is pretty rudimentary.
eBay on iphone - all we have for Windows mobile is the formatted web page?
iFareFinder, Flight tracker on iPhone - ? Windows mobile.
I am not an iPhone fanboy. I need Windows mobile, but where are all the cool apps?
I go to Fuze Mobility. they have cool links there
Looky here...

We’ve all been hearing rumors about Windows Mobile 7. You’ve probably seen the leaked screenshots, and I go over some of them here. We don’t really know if those represent the Standard/Smartphone version or the Professional/Pocket PC version of the operating system, or if there are even going to be multiple versions of Windows Mobile 7. Most of the screen shots indicate a move towards the Windows Mobile Standard style interface. You can even see that one of these mockups for a home screen has already made it into Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition.
So now that we’ve seen Windows Mobile 6.1, what kind of features are on your wish list for Windows Mobile 7? What do you really want to see?

can anyone help me? I've been looking for a dictionary app for the hd2 and haven't had any luck! ino there is tons for the iphone so just woundering if there is any for this, thanks.
I am using "Langenscheidt Dictionary for Windows Mobile".
But I guess it's only available in german...
Install Microsoft Reader and then download the free Encarta Pocket Dictionary. I have used it for ages with other Windows Mobile devices. Actually can read various books with pocket Microsoft Reader. Ed
Edit.... Not sure Microsoft Reader will work with 6.5.... It appears the available app is for wm 6.1 maybe you could try it for us and report back. Regards

As a matter of fact I do think that there are lots of really good softs for windows mobile and they definitely can compete with Iphone ... and without the need to jailbreak or hack your own phone to be able to customize it a little bit !
But it is also a fact that it is more difficult to find the softs as there is no softaware catalog that could compete with the centralized AppStore : you have to search with google with a lots of keywords : Pocket PC, wm5, wm6, wm6.1, wm6.5, windows mobile and so on ...
<OFF TOPIC>
Yet the biggest enemy of Window Mobile in the ability to compete with Iphone is from my point of view ... Microsoft :
- With the aberrant conditions to entry MarketPlace for developers,
- And with their crappy windows phone 7 series that is maybe the biggest step backward in computer industry that I've ever seen,
they will totally kill Window Mobile and commit suicide to their mobile department !

Apart from "Encarta Pocket Dictionary" it is available the "Oxford English Dictionay" in .lit format for free some where in the net, and if you have a dictionary in .doc format (with hypertextual links) you can convert it to .lit format using the appropriate mirosoft word patch, all links will work in .lit too.
my colleague has an Android HTC and found a tricorder app for it
NO WAY Android is better than windows, so anyone has a nice tricorder app for WinMo?
/tnx
I had one in 2002. that's long before android ;-) You might tell this your friend... hd2 is far beyond that stuff, hehe

lol....if it is nice or not dunno...if it works on leo dunno but you can try this one:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Science/Entertainment/Tricorder-for-Pocket-PC-14575.shtml
Tricorder
A mate of mine has this for his Android phone (HTC Desire).
It is brilliant all the sensors actually work.
The only windows mobile apps I can find are about 10 years old and so lame and outdated they are not worth the waste of time. They were written when all the sensors my HD2 has did not exist on things like Compaq handhelds.
Its time someone wrote one for the modern Winmo devices. Shame my programming skills don't stretch to that. Nor does my development environment ( the free Microsoft lite IDE wont program for the mobile environment desktop only sadly).

I would like a tricorder app for WinMo on HD2
I would like a tricorder app for WinMo on HD2. Is there a app?
Thanks for the help
Hello all,
With the flurry of Android and WinCE tablets that seem to have appeared, is it possible to install a WinMo image on these or is anyone working on a cheap tablet with WinMo installed?
Although the CE6 ones look ok it would be great to have a proper Office mobile installed rather than the Softmaker suite.
cheers
Try a smartq v5 or v7, no winmo, but it has android, ce, and some other form of linux and 1080p out. i know ownta.com has a Chinese ''tablet' with windows', but i don't know how reliable they are. honestly you're better off getting a real tablet PC with windows. you can get a hp tc1100 for cheap right now, and its a great tablet.
I saw about "Windows Tablets" news.
Microsoft announced the WP7 only used for cellphone, and windows tablets recommended for use windows 7.
Maybe ms consider windows mobile only a OS for smartphone...
"Chinese ''tablet' with windows'"is touchpad? It looks like a ipad...
As it sounds like WinMo maybe out of the question, can Cabs be installed/ported to CE6? Mainly trying to get Office mobile
htc shift
