IF YOU WANT ANDROID ORIGINAL VIRTUAL KEYBOARD:
download THIS
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/HTC_IME.*
adb shell reboot
adb remount
adb push lib/libjni_latinime.so /system/lib
adb push lib/libjni_pinyinime.so /system/lib
adb push app/LatinIME.apk /system/app
adb push app/LatinIME.odex /system/app
adb shell reboot
after going through the above steps, you can't bring up a keyboard. By going to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Android Keyboard -> Clear Data -> Force Close... And presto, the ION Keyboard works! (thanks vladkor!)

Whats the difference between this one and the one posted at androidiani?
Some files in the archives don't match.

It's the same, nothing important, just added "Spare Parts" app
I'm using it and it rocks
it's a superfast rom !

hi great job on this one..would it be possible to get the camera from your hero package to this one?..i tried just installing the apk but no luck
thanks for all your work man

Thx a lot from france !!!
All work great's very fast.
Thanks you for your work

nk02, thanks a lot for this great rom, it runs so fast without problems.
Thanks
Regards,

Does exchange work?

love the rom but it doesn't work with GV app so had to go back to the normal ion 2 version.

what is the GV app.
In german means GV = Geschlechtsverkehr (sexual relation)

How does this rom compare to "Rogers ROM for Sapphire G2 Magic" ?

Hey thanks its fast smooth nice job , only one noob question how do i make it so it roams ?? thanks again great work

Works great for me.
But after flahing my userdata the onscreen keyboard doesnt work anymore.
I had the original google keyboard before the update.
Is there a way to use my old userdata with the new rom and any keyboard (I prefere the new one).

GV = GoogleVoice?
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.evancharlton.googlevoice

I've problem with this rom. It stays in the android logo and doesn't boot (10 minutes and counting....)
I've copied the update.zip inside memory card, after that i've make a nandroid backup and wipe user data. After that, apply update, and reboot.
I have haykuro's spl, phone with root access, and Rogers Rom...
Anyone with the same problem??
---Edit----
Solved!!!
Re-entering into boot mode, re-wiping, re-applying, and re-booting...
Only Re-peating all the process, worked ok!

My Apps 2 sdcard patch: (no ext2/ext3 partition required, it using your sdcard's vfat partition.)
It work for the apps you install from android market or by "adb install".
The "app2sdcard" patch will create a "app" folder in your sdcard. Then copy apps from /data/app to /sdcard/app and make a symbol link to there.
The "app2phone" patch will copy apps in the sdcard "app" folder back to your phone and delete from your sdcard.
Or you may want to do it yourself in recovery mode with following commands :
Code:
mount /sdcard
mount -o rw /data
mkdir /sdcard/app
cp -a /data/app/* /sdcard/app/
rm -rf /data/app
ln -s /sdcard/app /data/app

I never tried before an hero ROM due to many reports of issues. Since the I read the comments on the v0.0.8 I dig in on that. And is probably one of the only ROM's who has the HTC Sync running!
I'm at work and I'm downloading it as well.. I'll be waiting a bit longer as due to all the things slowing down the network here that I can do nothing about it
I CAN"T WAIT FOR TRYING IT!!!
Yet no "H" for HSDPA connectivity in the task bar.
So far the speed is still superb, wallpapers are selectable by default as Red already described.
Will be testing BT tomorrow otw to work, x-ing fingers that it works as well as in v0.1.0.
Java works.
Market enabler is on by default.
Footprints on by default.
Thanks a lot.

60MB? woah that's way small for Hero lol. like 1/3 i think. how's performance in this?
I would say its as fast if not faster than the modaco port, the system apps being on the internal memory will also help as there no longer sharing the sd card with the swap
will you do this with JACHERO v1.7r2and upload it sometime? I like runnning the hero ROMs w/out the BFS kernel and would really appreciate it
Thanks in advance
you can remove expinit from bin since it's not being called for anything anymore (it's only a few kb though) and the bts binary, that one is used for bluetooth debugging and other tools, but, since bluetooth doesn't work on any hero build, it's safe to remove.
you can also remove all WP_*.db files from etc and just keep WP_0409WWE.db to save space, this will still give you all the locations for location picker.
if you replace libicudata.so in lib from one in an ADP 1.5 build, it should give you back about 2mb more with (apparently) no adverse effects.
I'm working on a slim HTC_IME (I've whipped it down to 1.2 MB) that you could eventually work into this build too, plus I've shrunk other things too where I might be able to fit more of hero into my build. It's also allowed me to make a (mock right now, i'm wrestling the HTC Setup Wizard issue) Hero build that finally fits into the regular spl.
I see you included the DCS*.apk files in /app. I don't include them because they don't seem to do anything, what are they for? Also, did you manage to get the weather working on the clock widget? That's mainly the reason why I didn't include it in my own build.
Lastly, this is exactly the reason I made this build. I wanted to show Hero could be forced into /system and then more knowledgeable people could come and make it better.
just to make sure, the only way you can remove the compcache modules is by unsquashfs modules.sqf and then re mksquash them. Otherwise you're removing a lot of modules important to the function of the ROM, for example netfilter for tethering.

I would say its as fast if not faster than the modaco port, the system apps being on the internal memory will also help as there no longer sharing the sd card with the swap

That's a very ballsy thing to say. LOL
Faster or AS fast as MoDaCo????
And what about compared to Tiny??
Wouldn't this need slightly more more memory and require more resources since you've ADDED stuff to Tiny???
wow this thing is only 29 mb. this is really micro

haha chris, the modaco fanboy
has anyone used comp cache with this?
Wow first its just "tiny" now we have a "micro", so what's next? A "nano" ???
This is good. Keep them coming.

I'll credit you for naming it
a2sd
Hi, i do not partition my sd card, thus if i want to test out this rom, i would need to go partition my sd card? If i don't i would face a boot loop right? Thanks
the idea behind these is to not necessitate your sd card, though, if you wish to have two partitions (swap and a2sd), these roms will make use of them as you expect them
I flashed it but it got stuck on the g1 screen so I had to go back to the JacxRom. Do I need to partition my sd to get past this? It flashed successfully but it got stuck at the g1 screen.

But isn't this technically BIGGER than Tiny since there's MORE stuff in this??
Anybody???
Will the "Nano" ADD even MORE stuff but somehow imply being smaller too?? LOL
Just curious... =p
how do you install this anyways? is there any requirements or what? can we just flash straight from cm 4.0.4 or need wipe or wha?
Great, very fast rom but unable to start wifi
It almost seems like i'm hijacking this thread, but i'll just answer to this last one and go back to my own . The wlan.ko module is in the wrong place, it has to be in /lib/modules. Open up a command prompt, then type:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
# cd system/lib
# mkdir modules
# mv wlan.ko modules
# exit
exit
Now reboot your phone and try to enable wlan again, it should work (at least i think it should, been busy finishing the last version of my rom and I havent tested this one)

HOW TO INSTALL
* If you had signal loss problems with previous builds, make sure you follow the steps from 1 to 9 , the rest of you can also do this as it will bring you to the latest radio, but you do not have to. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO INSTALL THE NEW RADIO PROCEED TO READ FROM STEP 9(including this step)
1)If upgrading from some other 6.35 radio, make sure you have 1.76.2007 engineering SPL installed
2)Make sure you have fastboot working
3)Download the radio.img file from HERE
4)Place the radio.img file in the folder where your fastboot is located(usually tools folder)
5)Connect your phone to pc using USB
6)Reboot the phone to bootloader(fastboot)
-You can do this by typing "adb reboot bootloader" in terminal
-You can do this by shutting the phone down completely and then boot it up by holding the POWER button and BACK button at the same time
7)Type in terminal console or command prompt console
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
8)Now type
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and make sure you now have radio 6.35.16.19
9)Extract the already downloaded EXTRACT ME FINAL SMOKI X zip and place both newly extracted files onto the root of your sdcard fat32 partition(files have names Smoki_X.zip and Partition_layout_fixed.zip)
10)Reboot the phone to recovery.
11)Wipe data
12)Flash Partition_layout_Fixed.zip and wait for it to reboot back into recovery
13)Flash Smoki_X.zip
14)Flash Smoki_X.1.zip
15)Reboot the phone and wait for the setupwizard to appear
16)IF YOU GET FC ON FIRST BOOT BEFORE SETUPWIZARD(it's mostly FCing because of com.android.settings), REMOVE THE SIMCARD AND FINISH THE SETUPWIZARD LIKE YOU WOULD NORMALLY DO, LET THE SENSEUI LOAD AND PUT THE SIMCARD BACK
17)After you've passed setup wizard and after senseui has loaded, install whatever the apps you want from the market and do a REBOOT or else there are BIG chances you'll have sense reloading by itself for no reason on returning to homescreen
18)Double check to make sure you did a reboot like I told you in the step above
19)Go get me some Heineken
20)AAAAAAND yo're done
HOW TO REVERT PARTITIONING BACK TO STOCK
Partitioning reverts back in two occasions
*First one being getting back on old radio and thus flashing different radio, spl, recovery and erasing system
*Second being a manual one and includes staying with this radio and spl.
TO REVERT BACK AND STAY WITH THE NEW RADIO FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING STEPS
1)Download AmonRA 1.6.2 recovery patched by cursordroid from > HERE
2)Make sure you have fastboot working
3)Place the recovery image downloaded from the above link into the folder with fastboot (usually the tools folder) and rename it(basically just shorten the name) to recovery.img
4)Reboot the phone into the bootloader(fastboot)
5)Type from terminal or command prompt
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase userdata -w
fastboot erase cache -w
6)Reboot into recovery
7)Flash whatever the rom you like(except smoki from 0.7.7 and up that needs partition layout)
8)Get me a double cheeseburger from Mcdonalds
-----Changelog-----

-Because of the above, no more need for charging fix
-Because of the above, max freq is 528Mhz

THIS ROM IS FOR NEW RADIO FOR 32A HTC SAPPHIRE(6.35.x.x) WITH ENG SPL 1.76 ONLY !!!
First of all thanks goes to Amon_Ra for his recovery, MoDaCo for finding the 1.76.2007 SPL for HERO that works on Magic too and of course special thanks goes to all developers here who are working or have worked and developed for our magic devices
This ROM is based on Official 2.1 WWE Hero OTA and with this we are just one step away from the official thing !
This is SenseUI 2.1 ROM with newest 2.6.32 kernel for new radio by sanpei(BIG THANKS to you too bro for helping me with rom and for making a kernel that is currently more than usable for everyday use).
Thanks to capychimp for multilanguage.
Thanks to Taknarosh to his bootanimation which I have modified to make it work here.
Thanks to VillainTeam from Hero section for their work on friendstream and newswidget which I have used in 0.7 and up builds.
So to get to the point >>>>
Working :
-Pretty much everything usual +
-HTC_CIME
-MMS - From the box.....setup your apn for mms and data connection and you're good to go.
-Live Wallpapers - use with included ADW launcher or with some other launcher or the market that can use LWP (like launcher pro). I have not included any live wallpapers with rom as there was no space left, but you can download them from the market or pull out from some other roms that use more live wallpapers. Also note that some "high end" livewallpapers won't work properly and will die on screen off. No way for me to solve it for now, but there are plenty lwps that are working perfectly
-Multilanguage(thx capychimp)
-Optional JIT (find it below on this page)
-USB tethering
-LED charging light
-All HTC widgets
-Friendstream(thx villainteam)
-Newswidget(thx villainteam)
-290MB data partition
-EVO-like settings widgets
-Old-school green loading spinner
-Zipalign installed apps on every boot
-640x480 video recording (thx capychimp)
-Removal of cache on every boot(if you wish to have 100% clean phone from cache leftovers, take a look at app CacheMate)
-And more
Not working/Missing :
-LED notifications only in green (install HeroLED from Market if you wish to have all leds, but you're doing it on your own - I won't give support if it breaks something)
Languages supported :
-Czech
-Danish
-German
-English
-Spanish
-France
-Italian
-Netherlands
-Norwegian
-Polish
-Portuguese(Brazil)
-Portuguese(Portugal)
-Swedish
-Greek
-Russian
-Chinese(later coming)
Before flashing this, DO A WIPE AND DELETE ALL ANDROID FILES ON YOUR SDCARD(files which aren't yours like Android, rosie_scroll and etc ; leave music, DCIM and stuff like that)
READ THIS BELOW !!!
If you get missing HTC Widgets at any point, go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > HTC Sense > Clear Data > press home button > wait for SenseUI to load up
Please people, read additional info to see if your problem is mentioned there or some no wipe update for something before posting a question. Thank you
Check up on logcat from time to time either via pc or using quick system info that's included and look for any signs of bluetooth getting stuck on reading databases as that is a known issue with this latest kernel
IF YOU GET FC WHILE BOOTING FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN TYPING IN YOUR PIN CODE, REMOVE YOUR SIM CARD AND BOOT AGAIN, SETUP EVERYTHING, LET IT LOAD AND THEN PUT BACK YOUR SIM CARD

****0.8****
-Fixed Weather Animations (or Weather Wallpapers, how HTC calls them...you know...the thing that animates your weather when you unlock your phone ? The thing most of you got all excited when 2.1 came out first ?)
-Changed the way init.d script executed to allow zipaligning of apps on ext partition(thanks to mrsaccess for making a point )
-Governor changed to ondemand again and disabled one more sched function
-Fixed sleep death bug (I hope)
-Maybe fixed fc on first boot for some users(that's just a maybe, so don't take my word for it...either way, you should wipe to test this)
-Brought HTC wallpapers back to system partition and linked them back to their place in HTC Wallpapers sub-menu(when selecting a wallpaper). You are free to remove smoki htc wallpaper folder from your sdcard
-Optimized compcache and memory management and I think it's now for good - I DO NOT SUPPORT TASK KILLERS** OR APPS THAT CHANGE INTERNAL ANDROID TASK KILLER SETTINGS
-Faster, smoother....and yeah, I am saying that for most my versions, but yeah, it is like it, it's just all those other problems make it look awful....now, I hope that's not gonna happen
-Possibly better battery life
-Placed some important stuff directly into RAM(still experimental, but just so that I am not completely sure what should be directly placed there, functionality remains the same)
-Because of the above, you get faster starting browser, faster loading pages in browser(those are most noticeable)
-Because of the above, freed 7.3MB from data partition (the added twitter app and droidx keyboard is gonna make it up for it, but as that's uninstallable, you can reclaim that space )
-Added Hebrew, japanese and more languages(thanks capy) - flash the appropriate font pack to get hebrew working properly
-Removed Peep(HtcTwitter) - HTC forgot that Twitter announced last December that it was changing the API;so now it's basically useless to us - when HTC fixes it, I'll bring it back
-Added official Twitter app as a replacement for the above - you can uninstall it as it's being placed on data partition
-Removed ADW launcher as it can be easily found on the market
-Added Samsung TouchWiz3 Launcher (thanks to kenshin for making it for mdpi devices)
-Added DroidX multitouch keyboard - it is placed in data partition, so you can easily uninstall it
-Updated brut.all maps to build v16 (it is uninstallable)
-Maybe something else....I really cannot think of anything currently lol
** if you have some app stuck or you know that app drains your battery, then you can use task killer to kill it, what I meant above is that I do not support constant killing of normal apps and most of all...automatic killing of them
****0.7.8****
-Fixed extreme battery drain
-Fixed extreme slowdowns and FCs overtime(it might be even more snapier a bit because of this)
****0.7.7****
-Partition layout changed to get us 290MB data partition
-Fixed slow market upon first boot
-Fixed total freeze when installing apps
-Bluetooth should behave a bit better
-Lowered the slowdown when listening to music and doing other stuff
-Changed the governor back to performance and also disabled some scheduler features
-Changed memory settings and lowered swappiness
-Reverted dalvik cache to data partition again as there is no more need for it to be on /cache
-Because of the above, first boot will be slightly faster
-Added script to delete cache files upon every boot (thanks dominukk for initial script and the idea - use CacheMate from the market if you wish to clear ALL of your caches and keep your phone clean 100% clean )
-Fixed long first boot senseui loading screen
-Changed HTC_IME with the one with voice input(english only voice) which is a bit more responsive (yeah, you can change the language on that one again)
-Updated MarketAccess app to latest build
-Updated Brut.all Maps app to latest build (v15)
-Most apps should open as fast as they can and process as fast as they can
-Hopefully fixed rosie reloading with friendstream and newswidget on home
-Added eStrongs file explorer app latest version as per requests of a lot of people
-Brought back the good old green loading spinner like in 1.5 sense roms (it might not be the absolute same color, but it's pretty close - thanks to my friend Milos )
-Popup messages won't take forever to load and unload anymore
-Replaced battery icon with the one with bars(the one Binary had in his 4.xx CM theme and the same one as in cursorsense)
-This build *might* be a bit more stable with JIT, but that's just a guess - please use the new JIT zip to activate it
-Added 640x480 video recording (tested on both JIT and normal version) - thanks capychimp for being the first to implement this in his roms
-Fixed FC for Jbed.apk(it is found in addition apps pack as it runs most of the time in background even if not in use)
-Removed Jbed.apk, Stock.apk(and the apps widget)(it was syncing even if you don't even use it), Teeter.apk and Footprints.apk(and the apps widget) - all of those apps can be found in app pack
****0.7.6****
-Smoother UI with friendstream and newswidget placed on home(note that these two widgets do a lot of work in the background when you go to them, so it can be a bit choppy at times, but a lot less now)
-Should have fixed Rosie reloading when newswidget and friendstream placed on home OR at least lowered the possibility for it to happen (I tested this on JIT only, so if it's not working with no JIT, tell me)
-Some apps will open faster and react faster
-Tweaked memory settings
-Tweaked compcache settings
-Tweaked some other stuff
-Added legend browser
-Added transparent lockscreen - big thanks to user seo
-Fixed loud minimum media volume
-Updated JIT to v9 (if you wish to continue using JIT, do flash newer, it should be more stable - also note that I've fixed jit disable
-Added charging problem fix - see down below for download link (it is separate from the base update)
-Maybe something more...it's been a long time since I started this update lol
****0.7.5****
-Added chinese support(thx capy)
-A bit smoother/faster UI
-Removed weather animations because of the memory leak
-Because of the above, you'll no longer have any slowing down or lagging or sluggishness after some period of using the phone
-Added zipalign of apps on data partition on boot
-Brought back compcache
-Tweaked around memory stuff
-Battery should be better
-Fixed problem of protected apps not showing
-Fixed problem with Rogers cutting off data when using this ROM
-Added powertop for viewing battery usage
-Updated SuperUser from ChainsDD to newest, 2.2, version
-Added shell reboot
-Should have fixed the problem of apps reloading themselves when they are in use(market app, people app and etc)
-Rosie (Sense Home) should not reload anymore that often
-Changed apn list - there could be some apns missing here, so if your apn is one of them, contact me via pm and I'll add them
-Maybe something more, I really don't remember
****0.7****
-New base, smoother base
-Changed bootscreen animation
-Added Friendstream
-Added Newsreader
-Added Today in History widget
-Added HTC Navi panel as per requests
-Brought back weather animations
-Left normal maps app and added brut.all maps v14 (uninstallable)(thx brut)
-Updated ADW Launcher
-Replaced lockscreen with desire like one
-Speed tweaks
-In sense with this above change, *everything* is faster
-Improved 3D performance
-HTC wallpapers have been removed from phone, but they are copied over to your SDCARD in a folder named "HTC_Wallpapers_Smoki" - watch out when reflashing multiple times, be sure to delete this folder before reflash
-Fixed problem with the missing ringtones and bootanimation when doing a nandroid restore
-Fully deodexed and optimized build
Smoki 0.8
DOWNLOAD - I recommend a wipe, but you *could* do a no wipe if coming from 0.7.x although you might loose some stuff from changelog and you also might have other problems If you had twitter account setup in previous builds of smoki and you're doing a no wipe update, please remove the twitter account FIRST(before flashing 0.8)
MD5 : c524e069d84a35af377936864b36e5d8
**********Charging FIX**********
DOWNLOAD
-This is the kernel build from 0.6.8 with all the tweaks from 0.8. Do note that you might experience slightly faster battery drain or some other weird stuff that the original 0.8 does not have. Also note that this kernel is not overclocked.
**********App Pack**********
DOWNLOAD APP PACK - Will install Stocks app, Jbed.apk (Java app), Teeter.apk and Footprints.apk
**********Hebrew Font**********
DOWNLOAD Hebrew Font + Keyboard - thanks capy
IMPORTANT!!! READ BELOW
Proper Install Guide for 0.8
-Extract the zip file you have downloaded
-Place the two newly found zips on your sdcard
-Reboot into recovery
-WIPE DATA
-Flash Partition_Layout.zip and wait for it to reboot back to recovery
-Flash Smoki_0.8_FINAL.zip
-Reboot
I really hope that developers will adopt this partitioning, but until that happens, IF YOU WISH TO FLASH SOME OTHER ROM AFTER FLASHING 0.7.7(other rom in means previous builds of Smoki or some other custom rom made by other devs), DOWNLOAD THE FILE BELOW AND FLASH IT RIGHT AFTER FLASHING NEW ROM(that applies to updates to that rom as well)
DOWNLOAD BOOT PATCH
IF you wish to revert back to the default partition layout(which is not needed unless you're taking a phone for a repair or you're just unsecure) do this :
Code:
-Wipe data through recovery
-while still in recovery, type adb shell reboot bootloader
-Download some new radio compatible recovery and place it in tools folder and rename it to recovery.img
-fastboot erase system -w
-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
For older releases of Full ROMs and Updates, find them on >>> SOURCEFORGE
IF YOU GET GSM SIGNAL PROBLEMS, FLASH >>>>> THIS
***I, sanpei, xda or anyone else here for that matter, am/is/are not responsible for damage done to your phone while flashing this.
Testing now : )
I would like to thank you for your work, i'm looking forward to it and downloading as I'm writing it!
Regards!
Sorry I'm green I'm d/ling now rom from first link - how must I partition my sd card ? because you wrote something about cache and data partition ?
The good thing about it is that you don't have to partition anything really...unless you want apps2sd, which I presume you weren't asking about
So I don't need to do something with my sd card ? I can just flash this rom with one fat32 partition on sd card ?
Yup. That's how I'm using it
Ok, so I'm flashing now and testing
Great work ... It seams very stable and fast .. I'll update you if a find anything that is not reported yet!!! Thanks so much for all the work!!
First impressions are very nice. It's very very fast rom :O I will continue testing when Magic will boot up because when I try to dial a number he hang up :/
I've to update all people of this:
- This is the first ever 2.1 ROM that I can put ALL application that I was using in the 1.5 working without any FC or reboot required.
- My WLAN connection is able to download without making any timeout.
- Lost of space for app's
- Fast and responsive
- Exchange also working with no issues
Things I haven't test:
- Make phone calls Is 4:55 AM
- HTC Sync (I don't use it, ADB works great)
Once again I would like to thank for this wonderful work!
I can totaly agree with #ricardomega - rom working great. Smoothly, fast and looks stable (ony one crash for me). If battery performance will good I will leave this rom for 24/7 usieng
great work!
BTW is there any possibility to make some additional languages ? (polish for ex)
Gonna give this a try! Thanks!
Works really well! Nice and fast and because you can choose between sense ui and launcher 1 & 2 u get the best of both... well of all three worlds!
My only complaint is that I can't seem to get Friend Stream to work. Any ideas?
Also, would be really awesome if the launcher2 could have the apps 'wrap around' at the top and bottom of the list instead of just disappearing? But that is just a minor request to make it look better
Will be using this one as my daily rom for the time being until the next awesome rom comes along
I got the 4gb sdcard fat32 with no partition. Which one can I download?

Official AOSP 2.2 OTA -- [Installable on All Dream/Sapphire] (12/01/2010 PartsB)

Here is a flash image for the dream of the MT3G ASOP (T-mobile OTA) 2.2 release. Including the most recent security update!!!
[SIZE=+2]MT3G-test3_S.zip[/SIZE]
(MD5: efff33db482ea3b6da3b247516be6a7f .. last updated 11/21/2010)
Please note this includes my 20101106 - 2708 ported kernel, for those requiring other kernels see addons
Requires:
* [Size=+2]1.33.0013d or 1.33.0013 SPLs with recommend 2.22.28.25 radio[/size]
(32b devices only) details on this post..
If you refuse to upgrade or can't upgrade because you have a 32a (1.2 or classic) device: you will need an alternative kernel as described in step 4.b 4.c or the phone will not boot
Note: 2.22.27.08 will also work but is not how the ota was shipped
* Uesrs of other SPLs can either use Danger (dream only), any sapphire SPL on the magic/sapphire/MT3G or alternatively Custom MTD I recommend "87 2" (system/cache) {as of test3 06bindcache will work if you install the parts package, thus if you use CustomMTD parts is mandatory to avoid market issues}
To install:
1) Wipe with 'fastboot erase system -w' (A no-wipe upgrade from test-2 will probably work)
2) flash MT3G-test3_S.zip
3) You will be prompted if you wish to install AmazonMP3 (answer yes/no)
4) You will be prompted if you want to set gprsclass set to 12 (you probably wish to answer yes)
4.b) If you have a 32a or 32a 1.2 magic install the ebi1, ebi0 kernel respectively from here: http://goo.gl/qFJO
4.c) If you have a 32b dream/sapphire without the new 2708 spl/radio install the ebi0 kernel if your radio starts with 2.22, or the ebi1 radio if it starts with 3.22 here: http://goo.gl/qFJO
5) Optional flash "DroidX keyboard" add-on
6) Optional flash "parts" add-on
Alternatively the rom is now available in RomManager; and will install the rom and correct version of the 20110222 kernel; also will allow you to choose between the components parts, droidX keyboard, and language packs.
Whats included:
1) su/superuser from CM6
2) my cm6 optimized pershoot based kernel described here
3) wifi working
4) bluetooth working (fixed inv2)
5) keyboard working (fixed in v2)
6) Rom contains English/Spanish only (Other languages available as language pack addons)
7) No sim card required (fixed with v2 market fix)
Many additional packages included in the parts addon.
To see information on the original Test2 release vist This Post
What not working:
* CM6 potential USB power issue (its not horrible on 2.6.34.7 but if you notice it reboot, or plug in a wall adapter)
* Sound Recorder shortcut missing, this looks like a bug in the OTA not the port a workaround
What to do if it bootloops
Before posting that the rom will not boot; please verify the following:
1) Check that if you don't have the newest radio SPLs *OR* don't have a 32B phone; that you install the correct kernel as mentioned in step 4b/4c in the installation instructions
2) Please use Super Wipe immediately before installing (ie. flash super wipe; restart back to recovery; then install the rom)
3) If you did not install it; install partsB; this will fix some date related bootloops that happens after flashing some of the radios. (after you can login and set the date correctly feel free to re-install without parts if you really don't want it)
4) If your phone is still bootlooping; after a clean install make sure you run 'adb logcat > logcat.txt' on your computer just after rebooting into the rom. Then paste the logcat contents into pastebin copying the link to this thread.
This may sound overkill but its the easiest way to make sure its not your error during install.

A|| Kernels:
The set of kernels used with this rom can be found: http://goo.gl/qFJO
> MT3G 1.2 (fender users) please use the EBI0 kernel
> 32A magic users (and rogers dreams who have not updated to a 2708 radio) please use the EBI1 port
> Dream/Sapphire users with older EBI0 radios may also use the EBI0 kernel with this rom.

MT3G-test3-partsB_S.zip
MD5: 58b80345db33c95a92f9be77ee67cc43 (update 12/01/2010)
What is it you ask.. It adds support for many things on top of the base rom
(note if you are upgrading from the original Test3-parts this is a no-wipe update)
1) Add support for init.d scripts
2) Add support for 'adb remount'
3) Add support for live wallpapers (apk kanged from CM nightly 238, and odex by myself)
4) Add busybox in a squashfs (binaries kanged form CM nightly 238; and repacked since I didn't want all of them) Note test3-partsB restores the toolbox netstat link to correctly display netstat information again.
5) Add LWP fix (fixes various 3D) via init.rc permissions (based on firerats work) updated in test3-partsB to fix slow performance in many games.
6) Added fix_permissions script (this one kanged from biffmod 2.1)
7) Load ipv6 on boot
8) apn list from CM238 nightly (new for test3)
9) flash_image from CM238 nightly (new for test3)
10) date verification; if year is < 2010 set the date to a more recent date (prevents initial boot boot loops for some users) added in test3-partsB
11) And Last but not least:
Added "Froyo Parts" apk custom menu interface to (this is my work k, thanks.. but certainty has ideas from pre-eclair apps2sd and firerats scripts):
internal -> /sd-ext
a. dex2sd (/data/dalvik-cache)
b. data2sd (/data/data)
c. apps2sd (/data/app & /data/app-private)
d. Keep Home in Ram (thanks to raven_raven's idea) [new test3]
e. Compcache 18MB (based of CM's script) [new test3]
f. Restrict /dev/hw3dc most games run better with this disabled; however some work better with it enabled (no reboot required) added in test3-partsB
Check the one or more to gain additional space; allow the app root permissions and reboot; the files will be moved accordingly.
All options only apply on next reboot, so if you make a mistake just revert

These are for test3 only and provide the options to add [fr,pl,de] or [ja,zh] or [it,ru,nb] or [cs,ko,tr] to the existing en,es rom.
F|| Disable Menu Unlock:
No this is not a bug fix; the Rom has a feature coded in to allow the menu key to unlock the screen as could be done on the phone before the update.
However for those that don't like this feature here is a hacked version of the framework to disable the menu unlock, and enable the "H" notification.

FAQ:
* Installing Titanium + Root Fails: You require BusyBox for Titanium to work; this can be installed via You can either install the parts package or install via titanium its self
* I need ipv6 loaded on boot to run goggles or other app: This is included in the parts package; if you wish not to use the parts package see this trick
* adb remount doesn't work and this rom doesn't have root.. yes 'adb remount' fails because this is a stock rom.. however NO just because that fails doesn't mean there is no root. see this post in short modify /system in recovery its safer than adb remount anyway. Also ADB remount has been added to the parts package
* I want to revert from the DroidX keyboard to stock: re-flash test-3 followed by parts if you flashed parts. (do not wipe)
(In short if you are having issues with advanced features try out the parts package )
Note:
This is only a quick hack of the official MT3G rom; please don't expect me to make major changes to it (If I'm doing that I'll build from ASOP source)
(Changes: version 2 fixes bluetooth and the keyboard + audio levels for dream + removes OTA key so it won't ask for any future updates)
(Changes: Market-fix; applies the updated files from the OTA fix; in addition to allowing you to signon [or skip signon] without a simcard)
(Changes: Test-3 parts improvements + security update included)
thanks for this fast port. i will give feedback =)
EDIT: wo mtd its working smooth. just one faves fc and otherwise no issues. maybe you could say that gapps are included and working ^^
Currently flashing too, many thanks! Was gonna have an early night, cant see that happening now!
Update: Flash went well, booted up nice and quick. Upon setup screen I left it sit for a few mins after the screen turned off. I then proceded to set up passed the initial screens but it failed to connect and stated "you dont have a network connection". It found my router fine, carried on with the set up and synced. So for me so far I have no mobile data connection. Overall it seems nippy and responsive, will keep testing it out...
What did you do!?!?!?!? this is perfect!!!!
Browser, Gallery, Search, Calculator, Phone, Messages, etc ALL OPEN AT THE SAME TIME, no swap, no compcache (i think, free/busybox is broken) SUPERFAST FROYO
Thanks man.
Quick question... is this insane speed due to that i haven't logged in to google yet? or is it due to your awesome kernel? or neither? What's different between the EXACT kernel used in here and the pershoot ones?
Thanks.
James Carr
I desperately want to flash this, but I'm slightly nervous because my MyTouch3G (or HT-03A, in my case) was bought in Japan and subsequently unlocked for use in another country. I see that SU was implemented, so I'm not worried about losing root. Basically, besides the normal risks of flashing custom roms, is this going to create a danger zone for me?
Update: gave it a shot. Installs and boots like a race horse, but sadly it's not a phone. I keep getting the phone itself FCing (com.android.phone) and thus it kind of loses it's functionality. Going to give it another wipe and flash, see if that helps.
Second edit: no love. I know this is going to be huge, and I already can feel/see the amazing speeds present here. BUt if I can't make phone calls, it really can't help me right now. Good luck man, I'll be rooting for you!

I kept it stock; stock has no busybox but you can push it from somewhere else if you wish
The compcache module is included if desired; also setcpu will allow upto a 595oc with this kernel; (a safe 576 max by default)
Very little injected my kernel+modules; and su/superuser.apk from a cm6 build so you keep root.. and copied init.sapphire.rc to init.trout.rc (removed the radio+recovery components of course since I assume you wish to keep the custom recovery)
Without bluetooth this is like a one engine jet plane .
No PAN , no can.
i have a funny feeling t-mobile, google and htc are dicking us around, yawn.

This is absolutely amazing, the speed is as fast as donut, unbelievable!! What is needed to get root access? Im in no position to be ale to help unfortunately as I lack the tech-knowledge! Also any ideas on the bluetooth issue?
May many many thanks!!!
How does this compare to Biffmod for you? I remember the original stock Donut was typically faster than AOSP based Donut roms, does it apply to this case?

For me my friend, this is probably the best rom ever! My reasons, theres been no lag, installation was smooth and fast, not a single force close. Bluetooth and mobile data isnt working for me (is it because I am in the UK, perhaps I just need to sort out my APN.....) nor is there root yet but theyll come in time. Ive installed LauncherPro and it runs smooth as anything, I am VERY VERY pleased that I have a super fast Froyo on my G1, I am never going back!!!
PS: I personally experienced random reboots on Biffmod and other Froyo roms, none on this rom so far!

Um.. root is working for me.. I added that to the zip (if you are in adb you will need to run 'su' then accept it on the phone.. so make sure the phone is unlocked the first time)
Sorry to be stupid, will this work with Magic 32B version? I dont care for Bluetooth at all, I care for wifi, 3g and gps.
Heading home right now to go and flash this on my G1.

Sorry yes my fault there. The problem I faced was I tried Titanium Backup but it complained of not having root and/or BusyBox. I went in to Terminal, typed SU, allowed it, downloaded BusyBox through Titanium and all is well!
Your. Are. A. Genius!!
PS: Keys arent mapped correctly e.g. the 'M' key which should give me a '>' gives me a '!'

About RELEASE
This is a custom ROM based on the Japanese Softbank 003Z ROM.
IMPORTANT! Everyone must wipe data/cache when updating to RLS8. Even if you tried RLS7.5 (sorry but I signed some more stuff after RLS7.5 so a wipe is needed)

Installation
Use Clockwork Recovery 2.5.0.9 or 2.5.1.3 or 2.5.1.8 to install the ROM and addons. Remember to Wipe data/cache when installing the ROM. No wipe, no whine...
It also works to use the RA_Recovery as an alternative to Clockwork.
LCD and/or Apps2SD user may want to try this Clockwork version where I replaced the kernel with my custom kernel so it supports EXT3 and the new displays: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1501261
Changing system partition size to 128Mb and data to 286Mb(FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY ON THEIR OWN RISK!)
Download the image version of the ROM and extract the "image" folder to the the SD-card.
Power off the phone and when powering on hold Menu and Volume-up
When some green text shows up saying it's installing a bunch of .mbn and .img files you may release the buttons and wait for it to reboot. (NOTE: I tried this on a TFT Blade and no green text was shown, just a black screen but after a while it rebooted and everything had worked like it was supposed to. Not sure if it was a coincidence or if TFT Blades doesn't show the green text)
NOTE! This also installs a bunch of firmware files from the Hungarian 256->512Mb update. It works fine on my OSF but do NOT blame me if it bricks your phone. You do not NEED to change partition sizes to use the "lite" version. It's just for advanced users who want to get more space for apps in /data. If this sounds confusing, then it's not for you.
Don't forget to rename or remove the "image" folder on the SD-card when you are done so that you do not reinstall your phone by mistake later on. Sometimes it enters the "image" install when you try to boot into bootloader mode if the image folder still exists on the card.
Go back to standard partition sizes
Repeat the above but with this "image" folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?xtckadj09b7sxt2 MD5: C8010D841AF463F3CB1FDEDFFAFA3B1E. After this you will have Clockwork Recovery as both boot and recovery image so you'll need to put a ROM on your SD-card and install.
RLS8 - 2011-01-18
Added VoiceSearch as it is not available in Market for some.
Added CIFS support to kernel.
Added a non-renamed Gingerbread keyboard (stolen from a Nexus AOSP build) so it's now called "AndroidKeyboard".
Signed everthing connected to framework-res.apk, Contacts.apk and Mms.apk with AOSP platform certs. This makes life eaiser for themers.
Enabled standard Dialer in Contacts.
Removed SmartDialer.apk.
Updated Mms.apk with the version from the now released Chinese V880 ROM (previously used Mms.apk from leaked V880 ROM).
Disabled AGPS by default. Not sure it makes a difference to turn it on and it seems to provoke some "Connection cannot be made" if enabled.
SmartDialer and RLS7 version of Contacts.apk (without dialer) as an addon.
Blue-ish Gingerbread keyboard as addon (using a selected part of modifications found here.
Updated RA recovery.img in "image" install (TPT) to Sebastian404s latest version.
Post RLS7 fixes (attached)
Facebook sync fixed
RLS7 - 2011-01-13
gps.conf back to pre-RLS6 version
resolv.conf removed (don't think it was used anyway and have only seen it in CM releases)
VPN menus enabled in Settings.
Automatic time setting enabled in Settings.
Signal indicators fixed (using same levels as in ZTE 2.1 ROMs)
Original Alarm clock back (has more options) but can be replaced with Desk Clock through addon if DeskClock is preferred.
Stock Filer app back as it can be good to have a simple file manager in place.
Removed lots of lib connected to the iwnnime (japanese IME) that was removed erlier. (Size of system is now below 120Mb)
Changed HH.MM time display to HH:MM in Danish, Norwegian and Finnish language files.
Added more PPP options in kernel (for VPN).
Circle battery indicator is no longer the default but can be added as an addon.
Added Sebastians RA recovery (with CM colors) to the "image" install as it supports EXT4 and also the addons needs a recovery image.
I'm sorry but it is NOT resigned with test keys as I promised it would be. I'm afraid resigning everything with testkeys can lead to problems when updates to "stock" apps like Gmail and Market arrives. This needs to be investigated further before testsigning the release.
Post RLS6 fixes (attached)
Fixed gps.conf
RIL libs for Saunalahti users to stop it from appearing to be roaming when it's not.
RLS6
Added Gmail back as it seems to missing in Market for some people.
Replaced AlarmClock.apk with DeskClock.apk.
Added resolv.conf with Googles public DNS-servers.
Added Googles SUPL host in gps.conf.
Disabled hardware GUI as eat seems to eat battery (enable with addon if you want it)
Changed wifi scan interval from 15 to 180 seconds (saves battery).
Updated apns-conf.xml with some changes found in CM 6.1.
Enabled EXT4 and PPP in kernel and changed kernel to use LZMA compressed initrd.
Removed the built in Japanese voicemail numbers.
Removed recovery.img from "image" install so that it doesn't overwrite any previously installed recovery images.
Removed the hacked "stock" FM Radio and updated Andorko's version to 0.5.
RLS5
No more bloating, only one super-slimmed version that fits on 128Mb system partition (more info and instructions will come later)
New kernel with overclocking support (Use SetCPU)
Added swap and compcache support.
Compiled and added tun.ko for the new kernel.
Re-added Google Search box.
Replaced MMS app with version from the chinese leaked ROM which supports adding multiple recipients.
Replaced libril-qc-1.so and libcm.so with versions from the Swedish Comviq ROM (previously used versions from the Finnish Saunlahti ROM).
(Saunalahti users should use the attached update so that it doens't look like it's roaming)[/url]
RLS4
Now also works without SIM cards (thanks to MDCFan)
No bootlogo, keeps Splash screen until bootanimation starts. Saves space in ramdisk and splash is rather easy to replace yourself compared to replacing the bootlogo.
Removed Nexus bootanimation and uses the default Android flashing logo.
Added ADW Launcher
Added Emulator ROMs
Added VM Heap tool (and changed VM Heap size back to the default 24Mb as you can now easily change it yourselves)
Turned off Stagefright. Stagefright are a new set of media decoders in 2.2 but they are broken in our release which is why it doubles the Quadrant Scores. It doesn't make the phone faster, just the benchmarks and it's just a illusion.
Changed default wallpaper.
Made a super-slim lite version that fits well within a 128Mb system partition (see "Partition layout change" thread and this post for more info.)
RLS3b
Removed libOmxAacDec.so and libOmxMp3Dec.so as suggested by Flibb to get rid of the random mp3 playing issues.
Put the new Settings.apk and SettingsProvider.apk into the right place so this time Tethering and Assisted GPS controls should be there.
RLS3
(native)Wifi Hotspot
USB tethering (mobile data or Wifi)
Enabled AGPS and the checkbox to control it.
Replaced Home Switcher with Froyo version
Included both working Radio apps (thanks to MDCFan and Andorko
Jellyfish got missing after a tragic misunderstanding at a sushi bar and have been replaced with green android and nexus bootanimation.
Updated Linpack to latest version.
IMPORTANT! The themes likely needs to be updated to support RLS3 or they will disable Wifi hotspot and usb tethering through wifi. Usb tethering over through mobile data should still work though.Frankish! The file that is chaned in framework-res.apk is res/values/arrays.xml. You can propably just get the whole resources.rsc from my framework-res.apk and put it into your framework-res.apk files. Just remeber to NOT use compression on the resources.rsc. Use WinRAR and choose "Store" when you add it.
RLS2
The USIM error on unlocked phones is now gone (thansk to MDCFan)
The Japanese extra call dialogue that some people experienced is gone.
Circle battery indicator
Removed APNDroid as it is obsolete with the new Power control widget.
Updated Titanium Backup
Removed the CKPD-daemon
Added Spare Parts
RLS1
Cleaned ROM from branding, custom contacts, bookmarks etc...
Added most of the extra stuff from Finnish Fillyjonk (Launcher Pro etc...)
Upgraded several Google apps and Market.
Unlocked all languages
Added Gingerbread Keyboard and made it the default IME.
Added Wifi tethering app as this kernel, as opposed to the 2.1 kernel, seems to have the needed netfilter stuff enabled.
Enabled hardware GUI accelleration, stagefright etc...
Known issues
Sometimes when an app request root permissions it just "hangs". Resolved by restarting phone or just kill all tasks with a Task killer.
Some phone companies "borrows" other companies networks and will show as roaming when it didn't with the stock ROM. In this case you need to replace libcm.so and libril-qc-1.so with the versions from your stock 2.1 ROM. Updates attached for Saunalahti and Yesss.

What is "Extended Controls"? I'm now trying to setup native USB tethering on Modaco Paul's last 2.2 ROM and have no succes.
With this new ROM on what system your USB tethering works? I have Windows XP only at this moment, could it work on it?

until now we only have the kernel for the 3.2mp's camera
Confirmed 3G - USB tethering
3G tethering works in 3b release. Also standard "Modem" menu returned on its place in Settings. And great newest app for Radio already included in 3beta firmware. I think it's the best firmware now for Blade.
Occasional screen freeze
Hi there Mannas,
I got a ZTE blade for christmas and I put this rom on it and it is very good. I however am seeing the occasional screen freeze where, when I wake the phone up cannot use the screen. Now the buttons still work and I can press the power button and it responds giving the options but I cannot press any of them.
I am running this rom with SetCPU and Advanced Task Manager which I shall switch off to see if it makes a difference.
Any thoughts on how to capture this issue would be appreciated as its a good phone.. just a little frustrated why the screen input disapears occasionally forcing a reset with the battery.

Any thoughts on how to capture this issue would be appreciated as its a good phone.. just a little frustrated why the screen input disapears occasionally forcing a reset with the battery.

Changing system partition size to 128Mb and data to 286Mb(FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY ON THEIR OWN RISK!)
* Download the image version of the ROM and extract the "image" folder to the the SD-card.
* Power off the phone and when powering on hold Menu and Volume-up
* When some green text shows up saying it's installing a bunch of .mbn and .img files you may release the buttons and wait for it to reboot.
Post RLS7 fixes (attached)
* Facebook sync fixed
RLS7 - 2011-01-13
* gps.conf back to pre-RLS6 version
* resolv.conf removed (don't think it was used anyway and have only seen it in CM releases)
* VPN menus enabled in Settings.
* Automatic time setting enabled in Settings.
* Signal indicators fixed (using same levels as in ZTE 2.1 ROMs)
* Original Alarm clock back (has more options) but can be replaced with Desk Clock through addon if DeskClock is preferred.
* Stock Filer app back as it can be good to have a simple file manager in place.
* Removed lots of lib connected to the iwnnime (japanese IME) that was removed erlier. (Size of system is now below 120Mb)
* Changed HH.MM time display to HH:MM in Danish, Norwegian and Finnish language files.
* Added more PPP options in kernel (for VPN).
* Circle battery indicator is no longer the default but can be added as an addon.
* Added Sebastians RA recovery (with CM colors) to the "image" install as it supports EXT4 and also the addons needs a recovery image.
* I'm sorry but it is NOT resigned with test keys as I promised it would be. I'm afraid resigning everything with testkeys can lead to problems when updates to "stock" apps like Gmail and Market arrives. This needs to be investigated further before testsigning the release.
Which kernel version is in RLS7?
