Help! Garbled sound quality via microphone. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Since I have upgraded to wm6 on either of my xda exec people are complaining that I sound garbled or distorted. I have tried several roms, several radio ver and at 1.09 currently. Nothing seems to help. I am on the T-Mobile network in the USA. Has anyone else experienced this or have suggestions to try?
Thanks.

Hmm... I'm also on T-Mobile in the USA and have a similar problem. I'm getting a bluetooth headset soon; maybe I'll discover that it's just my phone's microphone. It seems to be very sensitive to rubbing/moving the phone at all.
Edit: I just realized that you have a Universal, not a Wizard. Have you tried posting in the Universal forum?

terrible echo during calls

Hi,
I got the XDA Diamond Pro (Touch Pro O2 germany) yesterday.
During a call, the phone generates a terrible, slightly timeshifted echo of the own voice. The voice of the other person is normal and the other person doesnt hear an echo. I have tried it several times with different persons and networks (mobile + landline)...always the same phenomenon...sometimes more or less.
Is this normal with the Touch Pro? Do you also have this echo while making a call?
regards
10mabo
(sorry, my english is probably not the best)
Nobody with the same problem? Are your Touch Pros without echos?
No prob for me. Never heard something similar. What about your signal strength? Do you have good reception?
No problem here aswell.
tried a hard-reset already? I noticed that my TP worked better after I did a hard-reset (more stable and quicker), dunno why though.
Thank you for the replys!
So it seems that my device is not working properly :-(
It´s already on the way back to the provider.
regards
Holy crap! I just got another exchanged fuze and it's having the same issue. I'll try flashing to a new rom and see if that works.
When I first got the phone I noticed that my voice would echo but it stopped happening on its own. I think it was occurring because of bad reception. At that time my phone was having major problems with the data connection also and I figured it had something to do with ATT's towers.
I have experienced this echo, too, but considered it to come from reception problems as it does not happen on a regular basis. I.e. some calls are experiencing this echo, some do not.

I assume you mean flashing another radio rom, right? I have this issue on my Fuze as well. I flashed to NATF's rom, but am still running the stock radio rom that came with my phone: 1.02.25.32.
Did a different radio rom help you??

I changed my radio to 1.08.25.20, but I still have the echo. Do you think this is a hardware or software issue? Thanks!

I had the same problem I think with mine. It went away after a while when I was using NATF v2.2 but then when I flashed to v2.3 it came back. This was because the incall volume went down. So increase the volume when you're in a call and that should fix it.
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but the same thing has happened to me with both the Fuze and the Tilt. What I think the issue was though was that there was a slight lag between the time I said something and the time the sound came out of the earpiece on the other phone. The other phone's mic would pickup the sound of my voice and send it back to me. Very annoying. The problem was always solved when the person I was talking to switched to headset.
Same issue
I am experiencing the same issue, but it does seem to come and go depending on the in-call volume settings.
Obviously, no problems on speakerphone, which I use frequently.

Stock Radio, Stock Rom, no bloat
I just switched away from NATF v2.3 to aruppenthal's ver2 final ROM and the echo has cleared up! Thought I'd share in case others want to try...

Nobody there...

Hello everyone,
I have the latest AT&T 6.1 ROM, downloaded from the HTC site for the Tilt. Here's a couple of problems that I have, that I can't get search results for.
1. VERY often, when a person calls me and I answer, I can't hear anyone on the other end! The same results when I make an outbound call as well. The device says that I'm connected to the other party, but I can't hear that.
2. When I AM actively connected, VERY often my bluetooth headset will just DECIDE to disconnect! Now, the DEVICE is still connected, but I have to either quickly put it to my ear to not miss what the other party is saying, or, I've noticed that if I push the multifunction button on the earpiece (Jawbone), it will reconnect.
Any help with these two issues would be appreciated. This has ONLY begun since I've installed the newest AT&T 6.1 ROM, which is supposed to be for the Tilt... which I have.
I'm REALLY frustrated...
Maybe try the original 6.0 rom and see if it still happens. If it does, and your phone is under a year, I would definitely send your phone in for warranty.
Jason
i have 3 words for you,
1-radio
2-radio
3-radio..................
try changing your radio and see if the problem persists, but i smell a radio problem behind all of this

did you do a hard reset? if not try that and see if that helps
Without a doubt an issue with your radio version. I had the same issues when I switched from WM6 to 6.1 - turned out my radio only worked w/ version 6 and caused my phone to only work half of the time.

You are Switching from a 6.0 to 6.1...it probably is a radio issue...just go to the ultimate radio thread in my signature and download a 6.1 radio and try it....it will only take a few seconds
the stock wm6.1 at&t rom that he loaded comes with a functional radio made for that rom so unless he flashed a radio that is for wm6 after he updated then yes its the radio
looks like Radio problem.. but if you install the ATT official rom you have allready one for 6.1 windows.. Like already say MSD24200
but try one from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
i prefer the 1.65.24.36 NIKI Radio
you must select one of 1.65.xx.xx or 1.70.xx.xx
Comm Manager?

Bob,
I using the eOS 4.888 ROM on AT&T and I have the "silent call" issue too. It seems to have come up only in the past month or so. I'm on my 4th radio, currently a Polaris 1.59.42.23. The Polaris Radio seems to make the problem less frequent, but it is still there. My first though was this is an AT&T issue but there is a thread in the Kaiser General section about this, and posts in the Ultimate Radio thread that indicate the issue is occurring outside of the AT&T network as well.
The issue has been blamed on radios, ROM, and bluetooth, but in my experience with it, I'm thinking it might be Comm Manager related, but I don't know enough to know how the Comm Manager interacts with the radio/ROM to really be helpful.
I do know that the person who figures out the answer to this problem will make quite a few folks on this board very happy!!

Same Issue
I am having the same issue. I have the official 6.1 ROM from HTC on the att tilt. I flashed it on a friday and did not notice issues with not hearing the person on the other end when connected until a few days later. I looked at the ultimate radio thread according to that, I have the correct radio for my rom version:
ROM version: 3.57.502.2 WWE
ROM date: 07/17/08
Radio version: 1.65.21.18
Protocol version: 25.88.40.05H
Could it still be a radio issue? Or something else?

It is not Comm mgr related as I have tried several to no avail, Also several 6.1 roms and several radios . No luck.
Hopefully a mod can combine this thread with this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438457 so we can all work on this together.
Can't hear other party......
Did anyone find a solution to this yet? I have flashed all the compatable rabios with the tilt running the official wm6.1 from htc. And I am still making and receiving calls with not being able to hear the other party(as well as them not being able to hear me).
The main function of the tilt is a PHONE!
Hard reset after flash maybe?

It has to do with 6.1 . We are trying to pool all our information on one thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438457
Nika has reflashed to a 6.0 rom, and that appears to have eliminated the problem.
Again, if a Mod could merge these threads, we could all work togther on this.
Thanks.

If it is not radio, then it is a connection issue with your USB port. I had this happen to me and frustrated the heck out of me until I discovered that the tether that is inside the USB port on the device was loose, as if it was cracked. I must have done that while jabbing the stylus in it without using my glasses to soft reset. I discovered the issue by accident when the phone was plugged to be charged and i received a phone call. every time i wiggled the phone the conversation sound would get muted or interrupted. I ended up returning the Tilt to AT&T as a defective device and got a refurbished one that works. Test it and let us know.

HTC HD2 Bluetooth Carkit hang up bug...

Hey Guys, i'm hoping you can help me.
I have searched this forum and couldnt find anyone that has the same bug as me. I apologize in advance if there is a thread already that discusses this.
I have a Ford Mondeo Titanium X 58plate. Bluetooth syncs up and sends/receives calls great, however When I try to hang up the call it crashes. Is anyone having the same problem?
I upgraded my o2 HTC phone to the latest 1.66 rom and I still get the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.
I too have the same issue. I have a Mondeo Zetec and suffer from the same issue. After hanging up, the phone continually tries to connect and disconnect and the only way to stop it is to turn off bluetooth completely. I logged the problem with HTC and they were trying working on the problem howver I havent heard anything from them for 3 weeks. Im considering changing the bluetooth stack on the phone but arent sure how and with which stack.
I heard that changing the stack to the Microsoft default causes other issues. Let me know if you get a response from HTC regarding a fix. I dont even bother connecting the phone to the car anymore because it just crashes everytime i get a call, its so frustrating.
This is the response I got from HTC:
We can never guarantee that our products will be compatible with car kits or bluetooth headsets.
There are different ROM versions of Windows Mobile 6.5.
It might be that this product is not 100% compatible with this specific car kit.
When it comes to upgrades and updates then you will have to contact O2 for them to provide the upgrades for you.
Best regards,
Jozefine M

Probably a generic answer to everyone.
Same issue/possible fix
I have a Titanium X sport exactly the same issue.
I was told a couple of days ago if you switch off Data connection in Wireless controls in Settings it helps and I have tested a few times and this does seem to work.
I have not had an opertunity to test thoroughly and would be interested to here if it helps you

Random AutoRedial with HD2 with Headphones plugged in.

The current FM Radio App is really bad on the HD2 and it does not help that the FM hardware within the HD2 is so bad also.
In my case for some bizzare reason the FM Radio randomly when i am listening to the radio will start to dial the last dialed number.
However does anybody know of any other FM Radio software for the HD2? PowerRadio does not work with HD2.
Thanks,
Rishi
Hey, the 'randomly dials last number' bug is posted here on the forums and is known. What model earphones are you using when this happens? From what I gather from another thread this is due to 'bad' contact on the 3.5mm plug which has said to happen especially with certain brands of earphones.
I, however, had this bug when I had the HD2 plugged into my car's stereo via a simple 3.5 to 3.5mm aux cable. I haven't had this since upgrading my rom from stock, though.
(this happens with any audio btw, in my case Sense Music player, not FM radio)
Would you be able to state which ROM and earphones/headset you're using?
EDIT: Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637502&highlight=HD25 .
I am using the 24th April 2010 219XX EnergyROM. It has also happened in all other Energy ROMs
However the headfones are very cheap quality and this could be the problem. Will change them across for another set of headfones and get back. Thanks for your help.
Any other good FM Radio Apps for the HD2?
From what i see on other threads, different ROMs and different headfones does not seem to make the problem go away 100%... its a bit of a hit and miss.

I spoke to an HTC UK Escalations Manager (Mike B) today who claims that HTC UK have never head of this and as he was the escalation's manager he would be the first to know.
Its clear that many people have reported this to HTC UK via the website but HTC simply chooses to ignore it.
I have forwarded this Thread's link to him so that he understands that there are a lot of people with this problem and hence simply claiming not to know about it is not the answer.
I have this problem on the Stock Rom too.
If you have reported this to HTC, can you kindly paste your Ticket Number here. This way the Escalation manager will know that there are a number of calls into HTC that he as the escalations manager has somehow missed. And that his statement of HTC has not had any such reports is incorrect.

help pls, some advice, My speakerphone works, but not my normal one

I've recently installed a different ROM on my HTC and I can't hear through the ear-phone, the speakerphone works though. I've tried 4 other ROMS, on only one does the ear-phone actually work (the Raphael O2 UK 5.12.206.1 with Radio Sign 52.63.25.34 1.14.25.05), but on that one my wifi is disabled. Did anyone else experienced the problem, and if so, did he solve it?
Please reply, I've searched the forum, didn't find anything about this.
Thank you.
so you need to turn on the speaker to talk with somebody on the phone?
