you are using non-modified recovery then. to access menu here you should press home+power one more time. and in order to boot with other recovery image you have to boot in fastboot, starting up your device with back+power and executing on computer fastboot command "fastboot boot <recovery file name>.img", after that you will see menue where you can backup, wipe, apply custom update, and restart

hello yes i have it, but whem i like flash it cames :

Summary:
1) Download Paul's Visionary+ tool (I have used version r12) (google removed this app from market) so You will have to download it from Paul's website.
This tools enables root and removes new HTC protection.
2) Install engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off (HTC bootloader, something like BIOS for Your PC)
This step is optional and it's not required in order to flash custom ROM's on Your DHD but gives You more freedom with Your device.
3) Install custom recovery image (recovery is special program which is invoked from HBOOT
in order to flash ROM onto Your device.
Detailed description:
1) Download Paul's Visionary+ tool
1.1) Click here to download http://android.modaco.com/content/h...722/10-nov-r12-test-visionary-one-click-root/ or download it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=447543&d=1290501865
1.2) Install Visionary+ on Your DHD
1.3) Run it, enable "Set system r/w after root
1.4) Click "Temproot Now!" - Wait until it's finished
1.5) Click Attempt Permroot Now!
1.6) DHD automatically reboot's
To test that everything went fine download from market application "terminal emulator"
run it, type su
If You get after that sign # it mean's that everything went fine.
Time for next step!
2) Install engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off
2.1) Download sfjuocekr DHD script for flashing HBOOT from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835746
2.2) Unzip it and copy it to Your SDCard (It's important that You have on Your SDCard root directory with name DHD and all files inside this directory. Rename DHD-smart folder on Your SDCARD to DHD.
2.3) Run Terminal Emulator
2.4) Type su
2.5) Type "sh /sdcard/DHD/check
(Please be aware that You have to type "sh" in front of command)
2.6) If everything went OK type
sh /sdcard/DHD/backup
2.7) If this also went OK proceed with
sh /sdcard/DHD/hboot
This command will install engineering hboot which have S-Off turned off.
3) Install custom recovery image
3.1) Since ROM manager now officially support's Desire HD, we will use it to download and install custom clockwork image.
3.2) Run android market app on Your DHD and download and install ROM Manager app from market.
3.3) Download and install ROM manager.
3.4) Run ROM manager and select first option (Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery).

3.7) DHD should reboot in clockwork recovery manager.
Enjoy.
This afternoon I've done what you describe in your guide and can say that everything works fine on my DHD !
Another Desire HD free from chains
Alright this probably sounds disgustingly noob but my phone isn't going into bootloader mode x_x. I've rooted the phone and followed the S-OFF procedure and no luck... Any ideas?
EDIT: Don't worry issue resolved. I had to end up using adb shell reboot bootloader. It's still a bit weird though, as to why I can't do this without adb...
Did You manage to install clockwork successfully?

(I hade run into the strange problem for which I'm not sure is it problem with my PC or DHD, each time when I connected my DHD via USB cable my SDCard was automatically mounted as Disk Drive instead of just being in "Charge only" mode. I resolved this by removing back cover and ejecting SDCard and inserting it again while phone was operational, which is very unsafe thing to do!).

known issue : can't remember the app, double-twist I think, it auto mounts SD card. Do you have that? Deselect or uninstall.
Yup looks like it. It's saying ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.2. The only issue is, I can't select any of the options lol
EDIT: don't worry also solved that
Just another question though, using NANDROID am I able to backup my current ROM? I'm with Vodafone australia and I want to be able to restore this ROM (for warranty purposes).

[How-to] OpenRecovery,Root,Nandroid & other features.

Hello, everybody.
It's my first post-guide, so sorry if I make some mistakes
BEFORE STARTING UP I HAVE TO SAY THAT ME AND THE FORUM ADMINISTRATORS DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE ON YOUR DEVICE.
BE SURE THAT YOU WILL LOSE THE WARRANTY OF YOUR PHONE WHILE DOING ILLEGAL ACTIONS.
So....LET'S START!!!
(If the links are broken PM me to fix it, thank you.)
Required things that you need:
1.) Motorola Milestone with stock 2.1firmware (Eclair)
2.) Motorola USB Drivers files
3.) Vulnerable sbf Recovery File
4.) RSD Lite (v4.9)
5.) G.O.T. OpenRecovery (v2.01) or Androidiani OpenRecovery (v3.3)
(INFO ABOUT ANDROIDIANI COMMING SOON. THANKS TO greglord ABOUT HIS REQUEST)
Rar pass:
Code:
[B][COLOR="Red"]mhnx[/COLOR][/B]
How to enter the G.O.T. or the Androidiani OpenRecovery Menu:
Due the motorola limmitations we have to flash a vulnerable recovery file to run unofficial zip files on our devices.
Step One:
Power off your device, after open the hardware keyboard and press both the D-pad UP key and the power key and let the device power up.
The bootloader will be oppened. Now connect your phone with the usb cable on your pc and let it install the drivers properly.
Bootloader seems like this:
Code:
Bootloader 90.78
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
THIS IS ONLY FOR MILESTONE WITH BOOTLOADER v90.78
If you want to update your BOOTLOADER go here and flash the sbf file like I explain you from below.
Step Two:
After completing the driver installation start the RSD Lite on your pc,
press the "..." button on the program and navigate to find the sbf file you downloaded before and click on the start button.
If the "Start" button will be gray you might rename the .sbf file to a shorter name like: "bootloader.sbf".
Step Three:
Now you must power on your mobile phone and connect it on your computer,
after this you must copy the update.zip and OpenRecovery for Androidiani OpenRecovery or update.zip,Openrecovery and OpenRecovery-CFG folders on the root of your SDCARD.
After this steps you must power off your device.
Now there are two ways to enter the Recovery mode on your phone,
1.) Long press both the camera button and the power keys until the /!\ image appears on your phone and
2.) Open the hardware keyboard and long press both the "x" and the power button until the /!\ image appears on your phone.
after this image you have to release the previous keys and press the Volume + button and the camera button.
You are now on the Recovery menu,
navigate down with the D-pad hardware keyboard and select "apply sdcard:update.zip"
after this you are on the G.O.T. or the Androidiani OpenRecovery menu.
How to ROOT your Milestone with G.O.T. OpenRecovery:
(You must be in the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu)
Navigate on the "Root Phone" selection with the D-pad or the Volume keys and press it either with the D-pad center key or the Camera
Button
This is it! Your device is now rooted.
(Easy eh? )
How to undo ROOT
Use this commands with the ADB-Shell to undo the root on your phone.
Code:
mount system
rm /system/bin/su
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
umount system
How to Nandroid Backup & Restore your device:
(You must be in the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu)
Recommendation: Charge your phone 50%+ before Backup/Restore
Navigate on the "Nandroid" selection.
Enter the "New Nandroid System (1.45)".
Now, enter the "Open Nandroid Menu" and hit "Backup"
You are now to select the items you want to backup, if you want to backup everything just select "Backup All", if you don't want to backup everything navigate down and select the items you want to backup and press "Backup Selected".
If you want to Restore a Nandroid Backup, in the nandroid menu you have to press "Restore", a menu will appear with the backups you have done so far, select that you want from the backups and in the menu that will appear hit "Restore All" or select theese you want and press "Restore Selected".
THE BACKUP AND THE RESTORE MIGHT TAKE SOME MINUTES TO COMPLETE.
How to Install Memhack,BusyBox,Flac-Support,Just in Time (beta) and change the Screen Density (Resolution)
On the main G.O.T. OpenRecovery Menu navigate down and select "Launch 2.1 Menu"
After this navigate again down and select "Hacks & Mods Menu"
A menu will appear.
Theese are very easy to install.
Just navigate at the thing you want to install and press "Install"
If you want to Uninstall just press "Deinstall"
Little strange is Busybox.
To install Busybox select:
Code:
[ ] /system/sbin
[ ] /system/xbin
[ ] /data/busybox
and after selecting theese hit "Install" down of theese selections.
To change density navigate down again and press "Open Menu"
Again a menu will appear with some selections from 190 to 280
there are some tips in there about the screen size:
(smallest, original, biggest). I think that you will understand the sizes .
How to Wipe & Clean your Milestone:
If you want to make a Wipe with the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu,
open the menu navigate down and select "Wipe & Cleaning Menu"
After the menu is loaded select:
Code:
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Data / Factory Reset
and Wipe Cache Partition
You are done! You have wiped your phone.
To make a Full-Wipe you must format and the SD-Card.
WARNING! You will lose all of your data except the files on SD-Card.
If you don't want to lose your data make a Nandroid Backup before wiping!!
How to change the baseband on your phone:
Open the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu navigate down and select the "Stock GOT Features Menu".
Navigate again down and select the "Baseband Menu", after this you are ready to select the baseband you need to run on your phone.
If I have some mistakes, please correct me
THIS FOR NOW, IF YOU NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO ADD JUST PM ME.
UPDATES COMMING!!!
for future..

1. its Eclair, not Enclair
2. I also suggest you mention Androidiani OpenRecovery as alternative to GOT OpenRecovery.

You have just to open the default and select the update.zip (the second choice)..

Dear graphitepearl03,
I followed the instructions contained @ android.doshaska.net/rootable i.e.
[...] 2. "E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD E:signature verification failed" error after you apply the update.zip in recovery means that you do not have the vulnerable recovery on your phone.
If you applied an OTA update before, there is a script run at every system boot that checks and re-flashes the recovery when its checksum doesn't match. In such case, you have to avoid booting to android after the vulnerable recovery flash. Boot directly to recovery when RSD Lite restarts the phone (hold camera button) and from there remove the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh file.[... go on reading ...]
This helped me.
Best,
bb

In the first clockwork 3 releases there was also this problem with boot. i cant remember if it was the same error, but its fixed now so that it works correct. I also flashed FolioMod from clockwork iwth out any problems. Really nice work

I don't try backup / restore (nandroid) with stock rom maybe it work, but when i try to flash stock rom it skip the different part and don't write anything.
However, what could be interesting if backup / restore work is to make a backup of a fresh install stock rom with the last update include.

Hi,
Based on the positive response i started to install the ClockworkMod recovery. As i got the error message that there was no space on the device i did a factory reset (i have 1.3c). Now the installation of the ClockworkMod looked ok. But after i rebooted the device nothing happened (blank screen). Only the initial screen shows (with pressing the on/off-vol+ buttons) after this just a blank screen. Also if i press within the 3 sec the on/off and vol+ the screen goes blank. So i guess i have now a bricked folio and i will start to read up how to unbrick.
BTW i do not know if i did something wrong or there is/was some particularities with my configuartion or that the clockworkmod still needs some work..

Not sure you bricked it, you can use the fastboot method to flash the recovery again, then you can use the recovery to flash a full rom.
Btw, where do we have fastboot access? I thought what we have is the tegra bootloader which is quite risky to enter? (heard of the story of ppl getting stuck in the bootloader with no way to get out)

you can access fastboot by pressing POWER x 3 ( attention : 3 times only not 4) then VOL UP when the folio start. I use it everyday to flash recovery.img or boot.img with no problems.
Usage :
place the recovery.img or boot.img in the same directory as fastboot then from a shell navigate to your fastboot directory and us the following command :
for recovery:
Code:
./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
for boot:
Code:
./fastboot flash linux boot.img
you can use the -w option to wipe data and cache
for reboot :
Code:
./fastboot reboot

Thanks for all the responses but i go step by step (hopefully "unbricking" my folio).
I was able to get to the display of the line "Starting Fastboot USB download protocol, please execute 'fastboot' command" (by pressing 3times the power button).
I connected the folio with USB to my PC (Win7) but the needed driver could not be found in the PC.
So i have a couple questions.
-Is the PC-driver part of the SDK? or how can i get the driver?
-I guess that with the PC i can copy via USB the recovery image to the fastboot directory. Is this correct? How else can i get the recovery image to the fastboot directory?
-Is the recovery image the "Folio stock image for full restore to stock rom" Dexters thread
Hope i can get some more help with restoring my system.

Rom manager don't work with this recovery for now, official support must be added by Koush in rom manager before. I will commit the source to him when recovery is finalized.

For driver :
- Download the android SDK here
- Edit "<your-android-sdk-folder>/usb_driver/android_winusb.inf"
- Add the following after [Google.NTx86] (or [Google.NTamd64] if 64 bits windows)
Code:
;NVIDIA Tegra
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0955&PID_7000
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0955&PID_7100&MI_01
- start your folio in fastboot mode and plug in. Win will not find the right driver to use
- Force driver installation : click update driver -> have disk -> point to "<your-android-sdk-folder>/usb_driver/android_winusb.inf"
- Choose bootloader driver
After this you normally can use fastboot place in : <your-android-sdk-folder>/tools
For the recovery.img you can use the one include in the update.zip or one from FolioMod.
Hope it can help you
I am still not there...
Again thanks for all the help and support
OK I installed the SDK (and the JRE as it was also a requirement). But i did not find the USB driver so far (which is strange because i had connected the folio with the PC earlier).
While doing all that i discovered that somehow the ClockworkMod Recovery was installed correct. I could get the expanded ClockworkMod menu. (Using the power button and simulteaneous the Vol+ button within the 3 sec. And whatever i selected update or recovery, i got to the ClockworkMod menu.) This looked promissing.
So i put an update.zip on the sdcard (dextermod 1.3b).
In the menu i selected 'apply sdcard:update.zip'. After this i got the screen (white text) Confirm install? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE and (yellow text) 7 lines with '-No', one line with '-Yes - install /sdcard/update.zip' and 3 more lines with '-No'.
After selecting the 'Yes' line i got the following messages:
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Strange enough, even after the update was aborted, the system started again after i selected to reboot in the ClockworkMod menu. Wow. Who knows what happened may explain this. But nice for me the system works again (till the next time).
Looking very nice. Just flashed it and made a backup

You need a custom recovery like 4EXTrecovery to flash your rom, it will not work with stock recovery.

[Guide] How to Flash The Downloaded OTA File [ HTC One Mini 4.2.2 to 4.3]

Greeting from Vietnam, and sorry for my English
So, you dont want to wait the official-update from your carier/country, you got the OTA file from somewhere else, i'm gonna show you how to flash it, step by step with some stricks
This might works with other phones (I think), but in this guide we'll doing stuffs with HTC One Mini Android 4.2.2, flashing 4.3 OTA file
Before you do anything, i suggest you should do a nandroid backup, so you can get back your official rom any time. This is very important, please google for it
(For those who dont know: to do this, you'll need Unlock bootloader, then installing a custom recovery, i recommend TWRP instead of CWM, i've got error with cwm once -> Get into Recovery Mode -> Backup -> Save it to your computer)
I've googled and tried some other ways to upgrade the phone, but it was not work, like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573479
Flash another 4.2.2 ROM -> [Settings > About > Software update] -> Download (only) the OTA file -> Flash the stock recovery file -> Then the phone will alert "the update is downloaded and ready"
Click to collapse
Well, that's the idea. But right after your download is done (in your phone), it turns out error: "Variant system version", saying your phone has been modified, and end up by delete the OTA file
Let's get started
1. Requirement, Your phone must be:
Disabled Fast Boot:
Settings > Power > Untick Fast boot
Click to collapse
Enabled USB Debugging:
Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging
If you do not see "Developer Options", Go to Settings > About phone > Software > More > click on build number 7 times. This should enable that section
Click to collapse
Unlocked Bootloader
Got the S-Off (For HTC phones, to: be able to write to /system)
Installed a custom recovery (recommend TWRP)
The guide can be found at here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
2. Download the OTA file
You can use any OTA files, like the EU, the international,...
For HTC One mini, 4.3 OTA file can use this: OTA_M4_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_2.12.401.1-1.32.401.2_release_342200vz5jcl35ysxswchv.zip by http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48404636&postcount=1
3. Flash the firmware
Extract the OTA file you'll get firmware.zip
Make sure you already got the fastboot.exe, adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, ... files -> Move all these files + the firmware, the OTA file into a folder like: D:\htc
Reboot your phone into Fastboot USB Mode
Power off > Hold the both Volume Down key + Power key several seconds > Fast Boot
(Use the Volume key to change the selection, the Power key to chose/enter)
Click to collapse
Make sure your phone is recognized by fastboot and adb, to check:
fastboot devices
- and:
adb devices
Click to collapse
In case you got error "Device not found" with adb: turn the phone into Recovery Mode, it will fix this, so you can do adb push, shell...
Relock the bootloader, so we can flash the firmware update:
fastboot oem lock
The phone will reboot
Click to collapse
Reboot to OEM update mode:
adb reboot oem-78
The phone will show the white-text HTC
Click to collapse
Flash the firmware.zip:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You'll see a green progressbar on the screen, if not: do the command again
Click to collapse
Unlock Bootloader from http://htcdev.com, install the TWRP Recovery again
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_Code.bin
fastboot flash recovery Twrp-2.6.0.0.img
You might need to get the new Unlock_Code.bin from htcdev
Click to collapse
Now your phone is wiped, the /sdcard/ folder is empty
4. Make the OTA Flash-able file
Download the sample.zip file at here, we'll rename it to: OTA-4.3.zip, see How to make a flashable zip at here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163974
Open OTA-4.3.zip with winrar or 7zip, you'll see 2 folders: META-INF/ and system/ . We're going to put data from the OTA file into this zip file (Notice that the system/ folder is empty)
From the extracted OTA file that you've downloaded (OTA_M4_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_2.12.401.1-1.32.401.2_release_342200vz5jcl35ysxswchv.zip) copy 2 folders: system/ and patch/ into OTA-4.3.zip, just drag and drop them to opened OTA-4.3.zip (by winrar), hit OK in the winrar popup
--> You might wonder why we're doing this: Why we put 2 folders from OTA_M4_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_2.12.401.1-1.32.401.2_release_342200vz5jcl35ysxswchv.zip to the new, almost empty OTA-4.3.zip; instead of delete all other files, folders from OTA_M4_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_2.12.401.1-1.32.401.2_release_342200vz5jcl35ysxswchv.zip
--> The anwser is: i have no idea, the second way just doesn't work, i tried
5. Flash the OTA Flash-able file
Copy the OTA Flash-able file (OTA-4.3.zip) into your phone, your phone can not boot up now, so we'll use adb push command
adb push OTA-4.3.zip /sdcard/
It may takes few minutes
Click to collapse
Now simply Install Zip from recovery:
Boot into Recovery Mode > Install Zip > select OTA-4.3.zip
Click to collapse
Reboot the phone, if everything goes well, it's showing a progressbar of the Apps installing
You're now in 4.3
Thank you for this information but unfortunately it didnt work for me.
windovv said:

I do see the green progress bar and it moves to the right but....
the Fastboot/DOS window finishes the flash firmware command successfully but the green progress bar shown on the phone does not go to the very end.....
so at this point I reboot back to fastboot on the phone and then unlock the bootloader then follow the rest of your instructions....
Everything appears to be successful but when i boot the phone it displays the boot animation to the end then just stays there....The phone never goes past the boot animation
Ive managed to restore a backup so thats not a problem but im really struggling to install the 4.3 and sense 5.5 update using the other method shown at the beginning of your post and your method here
anyhow, looks my radio, HBOOT etc is updated now ive flashed the "firmware.zip" from my OTA

I think this step is just fine, i've noticed that the progress bar was near to the end, not full of the bar. If you not sure about this, you can do this step (run this command) twice:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You'll see a green progressbar on the screen, if not: do the command again
Click to collapse
Everything appears to be successful but when i boot the phone it displays the boot animation to the end then just stays there....The phone never goes past the boot animation
Click to collapse
It seems like you have just flashed the firmware.zip only, the rest of the OTA file has not been flashed successfully yet. The phone is now wiped, so it can't boot up
Reboot the phone, if everything goes well, it's showing a progressbar of the Apps installing
Click to collapse
Notice that in some cases, there's no progressbar showing, but the phone still configuring itself, and it can takes about 5-10 miniutes
so at this point I reboot back to fastboot on the phone and then unlock the bootloader then follow the rest of your instructions....
Click to collapse
At this step, pls install a custom recovery ~> goto recovery mode ~> File Management, you'll see that there're system folders, like /sdcard/, check out if they're empty or not...
Bottom line: make sure firmware.zip has been flashed (do the flash command twice), verify step 4 and step 5 in #1
Hello,
Many thanks for your reply.
I did flash the OTA zip after modifying it. I can only think that I did not wait long enough after the boot animation, although i did wait approx 5 minutes or more.
Since posting here I have managed to install the OTA update but I used the alternative method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573479
I already had an unlocked bootloader and S-OFF so I skipped that part of the tutorial...
But I was unsuccessful the first time because I did not SUPERCID, as I read passed it..
