Screen Display Program Needed

I tried search on a few sites (mostly broke links) for a small app that will turn off the display of my phone but have the device and everything still running. If I let the screen go off automatically it disconnects my wifi and programs that are currently running. I would like to have this as a program so I can enable it only when its needed.

Use S2U2, and set it to display off, instead of power off, if you wan't to keep wifi on.

S2U2 doesn't have a display off only feature atleast not in version 1.00. The coloset then was blank screen which doesn't help since it leaves the screen on still.

Not sure of anything else, except psShutXP, either way your going to drain your battry. Keeping the phone on with wifi prob isn't going to work very well, make sure you keep a few spare charged batteries, an AC charger, and car charger.

Yeah I know but working on a project here. Even with wifi constantly going it still gives me over 4 hrs of continous use. So with the display off I may be able to stretch it to close to 6hrs.

Ok, use psShutXP (it's a great little addition if you don't already have it installed), it replicates the XP shut down prompt, it also creates a link to only turn off the display in your start menu directory.

Phone "hangs" after hanging up?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i checked some performance related threads and nobody mentioned it.
After hanging up a call, why does the entire device hang for about 10-13 seconds before I can use any other function (including making another call) ??
Anything that can be done to fix this?

It seems to be an issue with some radios on some phones. I have a list of radios that I use that will crash the phone after so many calls.

No, no radio changing. In fact I don't even know what that means.
The phone doesn't crash, it just hangs after a phone call for about 13 seconds like it's trying to process something. Doesn't anyone else experience this?

have you downloaded a bunch of app to run in the background of your phone?
it does sound redundant, but if you take a look at your task manager it'll show you how much of your ram is being used up. if it's somewhere high like 75% then you need to close whatever program is taking up the most memory.
another possible thing might be active sync. I heard that when active sync tries to sync while not connected it can cause slow downs and that might happen during or when you hang up a call.

Just tested it. Active directory was not on, and neither was there any background processes working according to Task Manager, and it still took 10 secs after I hung up the call before I could reuse the phone.
How long is it supposed to take for the rest of you?

a second or less. Active sync is the usual culprit for bad battery life, but it looks like something is running in teh background and making your phone calls take longer to quit.

download and install advanced config, and look in one of the settings which is called "hangup delay" or something like that default is 1500 mS (1.5 seconds) change it to 500 mS or what ever you want and see if that makes a difference

I've done that now, and all I've done is improve the "hang time" by the number I've reduced the "hangup delay" by. The hang-up delay was originally 3000, and I reduced it to 1000, so my "hang time" is reduced by 2 seconds, but I still have to wait around 9-10 seconds before the phone is usable again.
How come no-one else is experiencing this? There's nothing special running on my phone.

I have the Telus device and have the ' hang' problem as well. I have seen updates on the HTC website for different carrier versions that may correct this problem. None for Telus yet though.

do you have any sort of battery meter running at the top of your screen? ie tnt battery meter?

Yes I have a battery meter at the top of the screen, but it's the stock one. I don't know what a "TNT" battery meter is. Should I disable it, and if so how? And after I do, how would I know how much power I have left? And are you saying that those of you who did not turn of the battery meter had performance problems when hanging up?

Thank-you! I am also with Telus! If anyone has any suggestions - please help! This is the number one problem with the phone, as well as dropped calls on occasion. I like all the non-phone (ie. PDA) functions though (except that all my outdoor photos turn blue)

Found this which seems to help:
Dealt with HTC for the same issue you're talking about. Turn the "Auto save contact" off and make sure you wipe you call history and the issue will go away.

im talking about a meter that runs across the very top of your screen so that if it's halfway across your screen you ahve 50% battery left. if you don't have any idea what i'm takling about then ignore this lol

Battery problem on Touch Pro - possible cause

Hi all,
My father bought an HTC Touch Pro some time ago; I think it was in 2008, as he needed a good phone, with the organization capability that WM has to offer.
The phone is in MINT conditions, really. It still has the original screen protector and no scratches can be found on it. He uses it a lot, but always has it in the leather case, and in a small pocket, which sometimes results in lost calls, as no one can really hear it ring . The battery is always fully charged, and after some testing I think it is still in good conditions.
The problem that he started getting is that after I installed some programs like GPS Tomtom and AGEPhone for SIP calling that he never uses (hehe), he started noticing the battery was discharging faster and that it would not last even 1 day, when before it would last about 3-4 days.
I uninstalled the programs, and the problem persists. Brightness is on 50%, wifi and any internet connection is turned off. No programs running in background, unless it's active sync that sometimes turns on itself.
POSSIBLE CAUSE - We noticed is that he has a lot of reminders, so the phone is constantly waking up. The problem is that it does not go to sleep afterwards. The touch screen is locked, so when a reminder pops up, the screen stays turned on, even if the backlight is not on, and just drains the battery completely.
Is there anything we can do, so that it (the reminders of meetings, birthdays and other stuff) would not wake the device up, or if it did, the phone would go to sleep after some seconds, so that it would not overheat and drain the battery in 1 day?
It is a quite annoying having to constantly look at the phone, dismissing reminders and turning the screen off, so the battery can last a bit longer.
I need to solve this problem, but my father will not agree with a custom ROM flash. Maximum I can do with it is upgrade it through the HTC tool, but I am not sure if it is worth it.
Here are the information:

Please help me with this issue.

Get tBattery and check to see the current draw under stead, idle conditions. With the backlight at 5, it should draw about 110 mA (there may be some spiking). Use the log feature, say for 10 min @ a time, with power-save options unchecked so the screen doesn't dim and it doesn't go to sleep. If the drain is high (constantly above 200 mA, let's say), then get a good task manager (hint: new dotfred's 3.3) and start killing processes, and see if that helps. If not, then try stopping some of ther services.

Thanks Farmer Ted for the reply, but I think I found the cause of the problem. I don't know why but after it wakes up, because of an appointment, it will not turn the screen off, even after 10 minutes and I have the power management set 30 sec off if not being used.
As the screen is locked, the appointment will not be dismissed by accident or pressed so it just stays like that, until the battery is dead.
Is there a hidden option to make the phone go back to sleep, or to prevent it from waking up, just making the led blink, as when you get new SMS messages and the screen is off, or when you get a missed call?
If there was I think it would solve the problem completely.

yes the problem is the screen it drains it faster than a hobo with a bottle of wiskey,
what you have to do it click on batter icon and get into the battery menu select advanced and elect turn back light off if device is not used for and select 10 second, then turn off device if not used for and slected 1 minute (its reffering to the screen)
then i use a program called touch pro tweak (its cooked into all energy roms) and there is a setting to wake up on call or text or notification and disable it by wake up it refers to turing the screen on

I have a simmilar problem.. I discovered what causes it... When I install certian programs, it changes the power settings.. namely, the power off when not plugged in setting... So, check out those settings... I have had this happen 3 or 4 times in as many months... then I notice the same issues with my battery.. after I go change the settigns back (for the 100th time) it goes back to pastign 2-3 days for me... (instead of less than 1)

Hi people, sorry to bring up this topic again, but I see no point in creating a new one.
I would like to ask if any of you would recommend me a good French ROM (as it comes with AZERTY keyboard) for this device that has good battery life?
Is it possible that a cooked WM 6.5 would use less battery then stock WM 6.1?
I have another problem, is there a way to turn up the ringing volume of the phone, in order to hear it even if it is in a small bag? It's already on max, but my father complaints the ringing volume is too low and he can not hear it.
And last but not least, how much does this battery normally last? Wifi off, bluetooth off, calling about 15 min a day, some SMS and a lot of reminders.
It can not go a day, max two days without recharging. It is always turned off when he goes to sleep, because if not, he will wake up with a dead device.

Need Help About Weird Battery Drain Issue

I just unlocked my phone by 'interop unlock method' and loaded a few homebrew apps on my samsung omnia w.
now ever since i've done that i'm getting wierd battery life.
battery life finishes very quickly and sometimes just switches off when i reach around the 20% mark directly going to zero.sometimes from full 70% available i becomes 10% within seconds. i am suspecting the battery status homebrew app and have also uninstalled it without any solution to my problem
anyway to fix this without having to reset my phone???

Battery: making it last
There's a lot you can do to make the battery in your Windows Phone last longer between charges. The easiest way is to use Battery Saver. You can set it so that it'll turn on any time your battery gets too low, or if you know in advance that you're going to need to make every bit count, you can turn it on to make sure your battery lasts as long as possible.

Turn off connections you're not using

Sync emails and contacts selectively

Choose which contacts are synchronised to your phone. If your email account doesn't include any contacts that you want to keep on your phone, you can choose to not have them synchronised to your phone. You can also keep your Facebook contacts separate from your other contacts too, which should help reduce the total number of contacts synchronised to your phone. Be aware that each time you visit What's New for People and Pictures, your phone uses extra power to sync and update.
Picture-taking tips
When you've finished taking a picture, press the Back Back hardware button button to exit the camera viewfinder. (You can also press the Power Power icon button to put your phone to sleep.) When the viewfinder is active, the screen stays on longer.
Also, when it's time to upload pictures, only upload the ones you want to keep and skip the ones that aren't so great. This saves power, and saves you time later when you want to sort your pics at your computer.
Warning
Do not remove or replace the battery when the phone is turned on. If you have a spare battery, turn off your phone, then replace the battery in your phone with the spare. This helps ensure that your data is saved properly. To turn off your phone, press and hold the Power Power icon button for three seconds until the goodbye message appears and the screen goes dark.

i know about these tips. but i have never followed them. phone functionality becomes limited.

This is why every developer insists on backing up ur device before unlocking or using any of their apps..
Even I was getting around a full day of battery backup time on browsing for half an hour,playing xblive games for half an hour, music for half an hour, calling on 3G for half an hour a day when my omnia w was new..now i get some 15hours..
Anyway most probable cause may be u have left the bluetooth turned on unnecessarily..or may be too many background apps are running..if this is the cause, goto settings, flick left/right, goto background tasks and turn off all unnecessary apps running in the background..and dont forget to turnoff bluetooth after usage..And dont overcharge ur battery, stop charging after it reaches 90-92%..

I experienced a big decrease in battery life when using a certain custom ROM, a different ROM was a little better, but I returned to stock, which was quite normal again

I have reseted my phone twice from Settings>about Phone.
i have already looked at the background settings and turned all of them off. i even turned it off in heathcliff's root tool(used interop unlock).
bluetooth was never on in the settings menu (though the option for "audio via bluetooth was toggled on in wp7root tools". but i assume it doesnt keep the bluetooth on)
-What happens is my battery shows a charge of @ 50-60% few hrs after removing from charger and then suddenly the sound for low battery plays and it "goodbyes". and doesn't turn on again. it directly goes to 1% charge and turns off!!!
-yesterday when i rebooted my phone: at the moment i switched off my phone it had 80% charge, but when i booted back on it became 1% and turned off by itself !!
something is messed up
what should i do?
EDIT: going to hard reset using *2767*3855#
after first reset
all i did was use custom accent colour after heathcliff unlock in his tool itself.
still the problem persisted
quite a few tweaks like audio via bluetooth and 3g toggle,etc don't work at all in the wp7root tools for me. they get resetted back whenever i change them and reopen the app

Just take a look at the battery terminals..i think ur battery is out..just check if any of ur frnds have a samsung exhibit 4g/exhibit 2/focus flash/transform ultra/conquer 4g..their battery fits perfectly into ur phone..just to check if culprit is the battery..if inserting their battery solves the problem, ditch ur battery and get a new one..on ebay u can get a 2500mah battery for 10USD instead of samsung's 1500mah one..As far as windows phone devices are concerned,that to 2nd gen samsung devices a hard reset(from settings>about) should solve problems like freezing on app launch, not connecting to marketplace AT ALL, etc.

none of my friends here have those phones . i live in india and am currently looking for the 2500 mah one. it looks cooool. hope new battery solves the problems.
Any other way i can test the faulty battery??

- The phone doesn't seem to be reading my battery properly. are you sure its not a registry issue? Because sometimes it turns off at 50% charge but when i plug the charger it says 50% remaining. the battery is just being read wrong. is this because i unlocked my phone?

if the seller saysit fits into omnia w, it should fit..and if it doesnt, u can file a complaint against the seller on ebay..theyll resolve ur issues..all third party batteries dont last as long as ur samsung original battery..what i mean is samsung promises around 800 recharge cycles for omnia w's batteries..these 'made in china' batteries last for around 400 or 500 max but they offer better backup time per charge cuz, u know, capacity is more:1500mah vs 2200mah..the life of the battery is not as much as the samsung's battery, i mean the no. of recharge cycles..hope this helps..

I'm 100% sure that wave 2's battery wouldn't fit into Omnia w..
And neither do I think putting your battery in freezer solves the problem..oh is ur battery swollen??one of the reason is overnight overcharging..my old phone has a swollen battery bcoz I used to overcharge it..stop overcharging and ur problems easily come down..in this situation, if I were u, I would have got the battery which u posted the link for..

I'm going to buy that one but I don't trust the seller yet. I'm looking for alternatives. I'm in touch with the seller and I am currently corresponding with him. this is the last correspondence with him
"sir. for electronics.. I generally don't accept returns because I don't see how the product was handled after the purchase. some ppl ask for returns after they have mishandled the product. hence I cannot take returns .sorry. but if you receive a dead product then certainly you can send it back.
also please note there will not be any product packaging for this just a polythene bag to avoid any damage during transit.

Many sellers send such third party items which are small in volume in a polythene bags..that is tragic..but u can't help..according to my experience, a nice thick polythene bag is enough to support the battery against simple damages like scratches..leave alone battery..i had got a screen protector in a polythene bag..which is really heartbreaking..so cheer up and pray god ur battery won't get mishandled..

Many sellers send such third party items which are small in volume in a polythene bags..that is tragic..but u can't help..according to my experience, a nice thick polythene bag is enough to support the battery against simple damages like scratches..leave alone battery..i had got a screen protector in a polythene bag..which is really heartbreaking..so cheer up and pray god ur battery won't get mishandled..

New Battery Has solved my problems.
Now the back panel of omnia w being metallic just over the area of the battery causes my battery to be overly heated.
can anyone give any tips as to reduce heating coz of the metallic plate?? i've started to charge my battery after removing my back panel from now on. any way to prevent heating because of using 3g?? (can't remove back panel while using the phone of course )

why does my alarm clock work while the phone is turned out? What is the name of this function and how can I turn it off?
I think it uses battery, because I charged my old phone (switched off, emergency phone) a week ago and now its empty.

I remember this was an issue for certain phones (but that was 6 years ago lol). Your phone must be really old !
And about the battery life when shut down, how long does it last usually?
Now for the upfront solutions:
Delete the alarm you sat up.
And if you have a removable battery on this phone, removing it would have a very good effect on battery life.

Its an Elephone P7000. I want to charge it and use it as a secondary phone. I turn it only on when my main phone has no battery. Last month I bought a new battery for this phone, on the battery is written "production date 2015". The battery last a whole day when the phone is turned on.
I'm really interested what is running the whole time in the background when Android is turned off. Is it some kind of BIOS? Is it the bootloader? Can you give me the name of this "program"?
PS: When my Xiaomi phone if turned of, the alarm does not work.

This App analyses the energy consumption of Android and the Apps, but that is not my problem. My problem is that the charged phone loses energy while it is turned off.
And secondly I'm really interested what is running in the background while the phone is turned off. Is is a firmeware from Elephone? I removed the original Elephone rom and switched to Cyagenomod and then to Rublix. But original Bootloader and other Elephone stuff my still be there.
I asked in a german Android forum and they said it is the fastboot function. But I think this is only a possibility of Android to boot fast when is is wakened from the watchdog I'm searching. (That the alarm clock starts immediately and not minutes after the targeted wakeup time.)

Yes, when you flash a custom ROM, all you are really changing is the system partition itself and maybe the kernel, everything else from your original firmware is still there: e.g. bootloader, modem, etc, etc..
Fastboot has nothing to do with how quickly the device boots, fastboot is a bootable function/mode used to flash/manage the device using the adb/fastboot software while booted into fastboot mode. Some devices have a feature that allows for fast booting, but that is a different animal than fastboot.
Your device has an internal clock the same as a PC does, that is how a PC keeps correct time even when the system is powered off and still shows the correct time when you boot the system. As for what is causing the battery to die even turned off, that may be a different issue than the power used by the internal clock.
All of my old devices lose charge after sitting in a draw for some time without being used, it isn't really an "issue" or problem, it is just the nature of the beast. Batteries do not store power indefinitely.

Are you rooted? running Magisk?

The smartphone is rooted with SuperSU.
This watchdog is more than a Bios clock. It wakes the smartphone at a given time. So the android system configures this background watchdog somehow. Maybe there are more things that it can do?
My Motorola Moto E (LineageOS) starts always with a wrong time. (WhatsApp is complaining about it at the start) So there seems to be no watchdog.

OK, if you are rooted, I would try running a boot-script that logs what is running on your phone every X minutes. If your lucky, the boot-script will log while the phone is "OFF".
something like the following maybe:

You may need to find a path that is actually mounted in your "OFF" state.
Also, I wouldn't keep this as a permanent thing, simply a test.

It does sound like android is not running on your phone for the phone-off-alarms, since it has a real time clock (I didnt read it, sorry).
As for the charging animation, all my phones have that too, but I think that is only the bootloader and ONLY while charging. ie connected to power, so discharging isn't an issue.
I suggested the above, as waaaay back when I modified my first phone, when I added a bunch of boot scripts that logged heavily, I *think* i was surprised when I noticed once (its back in gingerbread days) that I had logs from the start up of when I turned it off. But that was now many moons ago. It was just an idea, that shouldn't be too hard to test, even though all you have said points to it failing. And now that I think of it, the charging animation on that first phone I had, was actually PNG images (as animation frames) sitting on the android file system path; but again, that was during charging, not completely off.
