Putthe java app "google mail" on front page of wm6.1 - HTC Vox

I have the HTC Vox running WM6.1.
Each time I access the java google mail app I have to push all sorts of navigation buttons, then start java then choose the google mail app.
It would be far easiear to have the java google application accessiable from the wm6.1 front screen. How can I do this ?

You could make a shortcut to the Java-App. And then Use CHomeConfig to add the Link to a sliding panel! I'll attach a example link. You have to figure out which one the Gmail applet is!

[Question] How to make Profimail the default email app?

Hey ladies,
recently I got sick and tired that everytime I click an email address, the default system emailer is opened (pocket outlook). Is there any way, how to make Profimail (or any 3rd emailer) the default email client? Ie. I want to send email to a developer of some application from his own application (lets say Resco). I click the email in his application and I would like to Profimail get opened. I tried to search in here, but didn't find anything..

Gmail on WM

Gents,

Anyone has the same problem?
How to sort it out?

Why not configure the outlook on your PDA to connect whith IMAP to the gmail server?
could be a solution
but i like the "gmail" inbox format to manage mails.
in any case i will try also imap
There are apps for the threaded view in outlook for WM6, and if I remember correctly WM 6.1 supports it natively...
i don't want to be boring but i can't understand why this f.... htc could not download this aplet:
Could some one try?
Just open this link from the mobile gmail.com/app
Answer: HTC products aren't simple phones that need ****ty JAVA apps to access services... And I'm sure as hell I wouldn't want to use a JAVA app for checking my mail, when the Pocket Outlook does a great job. Also there was no JAVA enviroment included until WM6 came (and some WM5 distributions).
btw, it is working for me....
gmail java app => solution
Hello, i'm french, so sorry for my english.
I had a problem with gmail too, but i tried a solution and it was a success.
I downloaded "opera mini" (java app).
i launched "opera mini" and used it to download gmail app.
The default file that is downloaded from the gmail site is a *.jad file, this file contains information about the the actual program file (*.jar), like where is it found, size, author,...
If you open the *.jad file whith the included JAVA enviroment, it should automatically download the *.jar file and install it. Through the installation it should ask about internet connections, and about access priviliges.
Also applets that use the web connection need to be confirmed each time they want to connect.
The method of how do you download the *.jad file shouldn't matter, because the JAVA enviroment App handles it, not the browser....
SORTED OUT
the problem is the Italian version of the Applet Java.
I have tried the english version and works fine.
VERY GOOD!!!
I don't understand why people go with Java apps when there's an alternative PPC app that will do the same thing.
For example users in the US/UK that install Google Maps over Microsoft Live Search. I'm all for Google products, but credit is given where credit's due, and Live Search absolutely kills Google Maps.
I've tried using GMail through my WM device before and the reason why i don't use it is that when I send an E-Mail to someone I always get a copy of what i just sent arriving in my inbox again. it's annoying, the Java Client is much better.
Then leave the POP3 configuration and use IMAP

It has only advantages over the POP3, more secure, more functions,...
GMail WM Push & SFR...
Hi guys !
Has anyone found a solution to create a "Push mode" on GMAIL mobile ? My problem is that with the SFR contract (Illimythics), the web can only be accessed on http (wap SFR) => & therefore, you can't setup a classic Outlook/Pop mailbox.
You're then obliged to use a GMAIL app. but :
1) with the standard configuration, each time GMAIL connects to the Internet, you'll need to allow it (first message "MIDIet Gmail pas fiable needs to send & receive..." bla bla; and then ""Yes, but ask me at next session")
2) You have each time to refresh your mailbox manually...
So many clicks simply to get your e-mails..
Thanks for your help !

There isn't a Push Mail option for GMAIL (like whith exchange mail servers), also I'm not form France, but are you sure about neither POP3 nor IMAP protocolls available for you, only HTTP/HTTPS?
Gmail and Push
Hi,
I´ve been using Gmail push with seven (community.seven.com) and also with mobipush.com
Both work very well for me. And push is in real time.
I just thought it could be interesting to let you know.
I, for one, don't like to use a 3rd party for syncing my emails...
I use GMAILs IMAP whith SSL (can't even use it otherwise...), whith a 5 minut check interval... works like a dream....
How long does the battery last with a constant data connection?
1,2-1,5 days

how to modifie htc action screen?

i use the htc action screen on my tilt.
two questions regarding htc action screen:
1) when i use the action screen to write a new email, the device always starts a new email using the pre-installed outlook account. however, i use a newly created account to send and receive mails (gmx.de). is there any way, so that htc action screen uses the gmx account instead? maybe i can set gmx as standard account? i cannot delet the outlook account since it is used if you sync with your computers outlook
2) is there any way to change the shortcuts in the action screen program? i use IPSMS to send sms via internet. so when i select new sms, i would like to IPSMS to start and not the default new sms screen. can i change that? or delete new tast option and insert something new?
how?
nevermind, fixed it with the help of this thread:

FlexMail 4 and TouchFlo 2d (scrolling, email tab, etc.,)

So, I have a FlexMail 4 for my HTC TyTN II (actually AT&T Tilt, if that makes a difference), and I was wondering if it could be integrated with TouchFlo, TouchFlo 2d or Manila.
My issues:
1) There's no way to do TouchFlo scrolling in FlexMail. Is there a registry tweak that can fix this?
2) Currently, TouchFlo 2d still uses Pocket Outlook. Would there be a way to change it to use FlexMail?
GMail, Hotmail, Exchange, Newsgroups, and RSS all on the same Windows Mobile (WM5 and up) reader, with HTML, links, & attachments all working.
It is not a new reader- it’s qmail (qmail3) version 3.0.7. I am not an expert, and don’t have a clue as to all of the filter settings and crap that you can do with it, but I did figure out how to get all of the above working in ONE PROGRAM! Below are the workarounds and settings that I discovered.
I previously used Qusnetsoft reader for NNTP and RSS and Flexmail 4 for email. I was unhappy with the Flexmail viewer (no touch scrolling; scroll bar with stylus only) and email navigation from open mail to folders a bit of a pain. Qusnetsoft took too long to sync (nice interface though). I had used QMail3 before and liked it, but still use Hotmail and was bummed by MSN no longer supporting POP.
First… Download QMail (http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/Email/QMAIL-8837.shtml) for WM.
Then, for each account, In QMail, <Menu<Tool<Account<Add Account
GMAIL
Name=Gmail (or whatever)
Class=mail
Incoming=POP3 (or IMAP, but I’ll cover POP3 settings)
Outgoing=SMTP Then tap “OK”
In General Tab…

Outgoing=smtp.gmail.com

In Details Tab…

Outgoing mail Port=465

All other Settings are fine or adjust at your discretion.
HOTMAIL
First off, if you are not living in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, or the Netherlands (Where MSN has made POP for hotmail available again) you’ll need to change your location in Windows Live or Hotmail to reflect that you now live in one of those places. The site I used for these settings is http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/...and-smtp-support-instantly-for-all-countries/ Once this is done, the Qmail settings are as follows…
Name=Hotmail (or whatever)
Class=mail
Incoming=POP3
Outgoing=SMTP Then tap “OK”
In General Tab…
Incoming=pop3.live.com
Outgoing=smtp.live.com

Exchange
Not all exchange servers will work this way- your admin must have access enabled. I work for a school district and they have a web interface. Here are the QMail settings that get me in.
Name=Work (or whatever)
Class=mail
Incoming=POP3
Outgoing=SMTP Then tap “OK”

I use an HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt) w/cooked diamond rom 6.1 and I don’t have a data plan- I have WIFI at home @ work, so I needed something that could load everything onto my device for offline viewing when out-n-about. If you open a message then tap ok, then <Menu<Edit<Select All then tap-and-hold any off the messages, select <Mark<Mark Download, then do a Sync or Roundup again (you can find these by tapping and holding icons on the bottom toolbar) you can download full emails/news articles/etc. Hope this helps someone

Default email account/SPB Mobile Shell?

So in the SPB Mobile Shell there is an icon at the top for email. When I click on it, it opens "Outlook Email" for some reason. I then have to hit the D Pad over to "Hotmail."
How can I make it automatically open to Hotmail? I don't even use Outlook email (don't even use Outlook at all on the pc). I have Windows Live installed, which puts a Hotmail account in Pocket Outlook, and that is the only email account I have on my phone. The "Outlook Email" that it is opening up to is empty.
This is on an AT&T Tilt running NATF AT&T loaded 5 final ROM.
HTC Home appears to open the Hotmail when I hit the email icon, so it appears this is just an issue in SPB Mobile Shell...
i wanna know the same thing, but for spbmobile 3
Yes, here same thing... searched entire PDA... is this possible?
yes...i'm having the same problem in v3. TouchFlo seemed to default to the email box properly but spb doesn't...anyone figure this out?
Same problem here,
Is there a possible edit so it opens the right default email client?I use hotmail too.
*bump
I'm having the same problem, has anyone found a solution to this yet?
Try removing the email widget and then create a new one. It asks you what account you want it to monitor. If you are using the widget that shows email, sms and missed calls together, you will need to replace this with the 3 individual widgets.

thanks for that i can confirm it works

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I'm not sure if this has been solved or not but I was having same problem on 3.5.5 when trying to view my gmail. Playing around I find the widget itself has a setting to "Open messaging client" or "Open 3D viewer" I chose the 3d viewer and Viola.
How I got to this was basically getting into the widget settings, usually by just holding down on the widget icon and choosing "Default Action"
I hope this helps some people. Not sure how this would work with earlier versions though. I assume it would be the same. SPB Shell is still very much the same in a lot of ways.
Next question is how to manually tell SPB to receive emails from the server.
