Taskmanager problem - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello all!
I got a Raphael (Touch pro) for like 1½ month now... and since I have it, I have the feeling that none of the programs is being exited, but when I take a look at the task manager, I don't see any program...
I got the feeling the taskmanager doesn't see the running programs... It's kinda enoying, because for example when I have to write an sms while I'm browsing on internet, I can't switch between those...
I hope someone here has a solution for this!
Many thanks!

HTCHomePlug and task manager app for 750?

Afternoon everyone. I'm a long time HTC Hermes user but have always missed the one-hand of my old Treo 650. So yesterday I picked up a used 750 ($150 not bad). It had WM5 on it so I promptly upgraded it to WM6 with the stock ATT rom.
What I didn't realize is that everything that ran on my Hermes isn't going to run on my Treo. I have two big irritations that I hope someone can clear up for me.
First is with the HTC Home Plugin. The plugin installs and runs fine (along with the HTCCustomize). However its the problem is with the Today screen item called Dialpad Lookup. If I uncheck this item then I lose button functionality, for example hitting the red button to lock and turn off the screen. The only thing I have seen for this is some registry tweaks to let you move the Dialpad Lookup up or down. Any ideas what to do about this?
Second is there is no Task Manager / X to Close instead of Hide program. I tried to install HTC Task Manager a couple times and each time had to Hard reset to defaults. I also tried SPB Pocket Plus, which is what I used on my Hermes, and every time that resulted in neverending lockups and hard resets.
What app are you using to make the X a close (OK button to minimize) and to Task Manage?
Thanks!
I use SPB Pocket Plus on Treo 750v WM6 without any problem...sorry, not much help.
Possible Answers
Hey d00d,
Just got my Treo and been playing with it a bit.
As for HTC Home i use and recommend Touch Commander which simulate the Home Screen and adds some HTC cube capabilities. it's nice though it costs money.
As for the Dial Lookup issue, What i did is Hide the Lookup (Menu --- Preferences --- Hide Lookup field) BUT you have to leave the dial lookup plugin enabled on the today Settings.
Now you will have the Red Button feature without the lookup field on the today screen.
Last thing regarding the task manager, i use tman - the best i've used so far.
You may also like Task Manager in Battery Status plugin - good as well
Hope i helped
qbout task manager
I used magic button and it is free and I think that it is the best.
task manager
I use the 1.5 version of vp3g x button which works on my wife treo. and I have oxios to keep it clean, I however haven't managed to get the htc home going like the one on my hermes
Try WKTask
I've tried all kinds of task managers over the last couple of years that I've had my 750 and the best one I've found is called WKTask. I highly recommend it because not only does it give the X in the corner, but it also gives you the equivalent of a task tray across the top of the screen which allows you to quickly switch from one application to another. It also has a nifty launcher utility. Go to the site and check it out:

I am in no way associated or affiliated with the product, I just really dig it and it's free too. It may seem a little complicated at first, but it's easier than you think and worth the effort to learn the capabilities.

If you upgrade to WM6.1 it finally includes a task manager and all you have to do is hold down the "ok" button and the task manager appears.
The task manager is included since WM5 and if I remember it correct since WM2003, new is that it is available from the ok-button (I think this is palm-specific).
I use wisbar lite, not free, but easy to use and also with the buttons of all apps on top and You can configure it to close every app with the "X" instead of minimizing it.

I'm glad it works on square screen, because it's truly the most important utility on my TyTN.

Slow, always having to soft reset..

Hi all,
I am really disappointed with the performance of my Orbit 2. At least once a day, it slows down and eventually grinds to a halt - a problem I never had with the Artemis.
In particular he seems to hang when using the RSS Hub program (although I have tried numerous alternatives including News Gator and the SPB Insight). Sometimes accessing the Internet, or even creating an SMS causes the hang.
I have read through the tips in the forums here and recently upgraded the ROM to Bepe's 0.66, but still have the issues.
Is anyone else suffering from these problems? Any ideas for possible fixes?
Tim
Nope. I have over 30 apps installed a couple of today screen plug-ins and the TC runs just fine. Perhaps you were not closing your applications (just minimizing)? Or maybe you needed to use a tool like MemMaid to clean your device?
I am using the stock rom.
On the stock ROM and use RSS Hub a lot. Can't say I ever had those problems either.
cant say i have a problem either
use quite a bit of software on a regular basis and i dont ever shut mine off or restart unless i want to escape my wife.....
NetFront is the culprit
OK following some further research (read "tearing hair out"), I believe I have found the culprit to be NetFront. This otherwise fantastic browser appears to hog CPU at around 99%.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour with NetFront? Its a real shame as its by far the best browser I have found. Opera would be great but doesn't work with the HTC keypad. So next task is to find a decent browser!!

Yep....it's a known issue. The problem is when Netfront is put into the background. If you continue to use it, just make sure you close (not minimize) it before leaving to go to another app or even your today screen.

Better alternatives to OZim v 2? Any suggestions on what plays nicest with WM6?

OZim seems to be acting weird on me. While my device is sleeping, the IM will wake it up. A few weeks ago it would not do this. I am playing with roms and this was a CAB install rather than the embedded OZim in my ATT Fuze rom.
Any suggestions for IM clients?
Is OZ considered the best?
Thanks!
[bioshock mode]would you kindly use the search function, though granted this is Q&A[/bioshockmode]
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1150324
personally I really like palringo but I don't remember if it wakes when an IM is received.

Best calender/task manager

hey, i like touchflo,, i guess. probably cuz im a little too nervous and inexperienced to start seriously messing around with my phone, but i do hate how the calender on touchflo works. I cant see specific says without clicking on them, and the whole thing just seems a little elementary.
is there anything you can suggest that will work with touch flo, and required just a simply installation, because im not quite sure what most of the tech abbreviations mean, and how to manually configure settings.
So from your experience, what is the most intuitive program.
would it also be too much to ask to see some screenshots of the programs.
thanks a lot....consider it my christmas present
just a side note,
if you have a program on the phone, and then update the framework, must you reinstall the initial program...the reason i ask is , i have a program to prevent the screen from being responsive when i call came in, but after a few updates, ie. framework and advance config, the screen blocker program isnt working
any suggestion?
i believe there is already a post about this and to the best of my knowledge the answer to your second question is no
SBSH Touch Calendar looks awesome. I haven't tried it yet as it costs $25 but I'm thinking about buying it. Give it a shot and post up here!

Also there is a 12-day trial.

hey, sorry for the repost, but ive been searching, and really havent been able to find what im looking for. It may just be that i dont know if the mentioned programs im looking for are compatible with the touch pro. Im not looking to mod my task bar, or anything concerning manilla files. Just a program that allows me to see into the future a little better. is this spd diary program compatible with touch pro and free?
thanks for putting up with me
Try thumbcal, i's great. Version 0,5 is free after that it gets a little better but it's not free anymore, 12
Have a look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381588
This solved my problem - if this is installed, you switch the screen off, then on again - all appointments as well as current date/time is displayed.
Ive used Thumbcal and only just installed the SBSH touch cal, have to admit looks and operates great. So much more features and ability to manage apts etc. First impressions i think its alot more comprehensive then Thumbcal, but just my opinion.

[QUES] - Multitasking no longer works!?

Phone : HTC Universal (unmodded, 64MB)
ROM : Tomal 8.50
Not sure why, could be a free ram issue, but lately it seems to have stopped multitasking in an odd way. E.g. I'm in internet explorer, select some text, copy, open notes, new note, paste, ok. But IE has magically closed itself in the background by the time i've done this and i can't switch back! Most apps seem to do it, e.g. google maps, opera too, as soon as i use one app for more than a few seconds any others that are not in focus close silently.
Dont think i have any aggressive demons running, the rom is pretty much as is apart from a couple of today plugins!
I had the same problem, but only after I installed Opera. I don't know whether it's really Opera that's the culprit or not, but since I want to use it anyway, I searched for solution and this little app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5711787 seems to do the trick - no more programs closing in the background.
Thanks, only installed opera a few days ago, must be doing odd things to my system, will give AutoClose patch a try tho, thanks!
Just FYI, though it may not be the reason for the OP, I have heard this being said about Opera a lot of times, I've not checked but my gut feeling really is it has something to do with it.
Moved to Q&A as not dev.
