Hi,
While I am waiting for my MDA Pro to arrive, I have been reading a lot in the Universal section (have a BA myself).
May I ask for some valid reasons why someone would want to use homebrewed WM6 releases instead of official/customized WM5?
I do understand the fun it is to try out new things, but is it really worth it? I did not find many posts that would clear this question.
Thanks,
vma
WM6.0...
The new look and a lot faster device...
Is there any feature that won't be available with WM6, that did work fine in WM5?
Thanks,
vma
Video call isn't working yet.

The way I see it, WM6 may or may not work for you and may or may not do it for you. Try it. You can always go back to WM5. Most people don't.....
Well .... the simple answer is that I did a lot of searching and reading, and finally tried it out for myself.
I asked this very question a while ago right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1130569&postcount=88
And came to the follwowing conclusion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1155497&postcount=89
In the conclusion, the thing about the Bluetooth Stack / Voice Command - it was actually Voice Command that was the problem and this issue was fixed in Jrwightmcps' 2.02.00 WWE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297256
Crossbow ONLY!
Tell you the truth... i see the new WM6 is better eye-catching GUI not to mention the enhancement in the functionality and other usability such as email related functions. I know that MS wont just upgrade for no obvious reason nor for desktop OS compatibility.
Yet i reckon i wont -never- go back to magento! Crossbow ONLY!
@nvatvani:
Indeed your posts where the only ones I read, that contained some usefull info about the subject.
No offense to all the other members of course!
I was simply wondering about what to do when my MDA Pro arrives: replace the German firmware with a WWE WM5 one or go straight ahead to WM6 without even looking at WM5.
Also, I had some problems with my Blue Angel, when I tried WM5 on it: it may have been a coincidence, but one day after the upgrade the screen went mad and totally messed up. Only 1 Hardreset in about 100 tries would bring it back to normal for some period of time and even reflashing it with WM5 or 2003SE would not make it work normal again. The screen would get messed up suddenly for no particular reason. At the end I had to send it in for repair, which was actually a good thing, as I complained about the loose stylo and bad working hardkeys, all within warranty. I got a new key-pcb, backside and they reflashed the device with 2003SE. I posted this issue in the BA forum, but got no usefull hint. This means I am a little scared of upgrading to unofficial releases.
Other than that, I have no problems with flashing, as I do that on my other hobby (satellite receivers) frequently, including JTAG-operations for repairing bricked devices. The same applies to games consoles. (Note: I do not sell or benefit commercially from that activity and my goal is not to get illegal software or TV - not that you guy's get the wrong idea about me).
Anyway, thanks for your replies!
Cheers,
vma
What Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU 2.0 has and Windows Mobile 6 (the cooked ones, having tried them all) doesn't have, according to my experiences:
1. Videocalling - at least not a proper one
2. Bluetooth Dial Up Networking (the DUN profile)
3. Wireless Modem (yet some WM6 ROM's have it, although without shortcut in the start menu)
4. Cyberon Voice Dial by default (some WM6 ROM's have it by default, others will need a 500kB CAB to activate it)
The reason why I went back to "good old" WM5 is mainly the reliability. Ok, the OS may be a bit slower here and there, but it has all the functionality (e.g. videocalls and Bluetooth DUN), and NEVER hangs. It just always works and that's what I desperately need right now.
---
The things Windows Mobile 6 has for me that 5.0 hasn't which I miss the most:
1. High resolution browsing in the normal Internet Explorer (I don't want to use alternatives)
2. HTML email support
3. The impressive speed of the OS
Applications like WM6's Windows Live and the superb Remote Desktop Client are also available for WM5, so I don't need to miss those, otherwise I sure would, and then I might have sticked with WM6.
The new sounds and GUI are great, but I don't really miss them, since that's not a true functional thing.
Having WM5 up and running again, without freezes and memory leaking and with full HTC Universal functionality, is enough for me to be happy with it and to stick with it. If there ever will be a ROM that actually ADDS Windows Mobile 6 on top of all of this (without a single registry tweak or CAB fix needed), then it's the time for me to upgrade again.
If such a ROM will ever see the daylight, since it won't be officially available for the Universal, I don't know. I think the HTC X7500 (Athena) will be there sooner (April 2007 over here), and that one will have a official WM6 upgrade for sure. That'll be my next one, so until then: WM5 for my Universal!
So far for my opinion.
why do I use WM6

To be honest, I used them all and later delteted them after 5 2 hours. They leak a lot, ram is at minimum and useless third party applications, and a lot fo thing sodn't really work or missing (I just want a vanill aone without 3rd party applications).
Except for one rom, Darkforce, it is fast and furious, and so far I have using it for two days; battery usage is good, and no leaks. However, no video calling, and no way to set com ports for bluetooth devices. any1 has this problem?
However, common to all ROMS, no video calling, old calculator, speed dial messed up (some work and some don't), wireless connection bubble missing (yes you can install a cab but I don't want to do that).
<Mind you, contrary to other reports, I never had any freezes with any rom.
The thing that attracts me is HTML in email, High resolution mode in explorer, better remote desktop connectivity.
So I thhink I am sticking with DarkForce ROM, so far so good.
Thx
Question might be better fared here...
Allegedly, my employer does not support BBConnect, only Blackberry Only devices.
If I was to run BBConnect on the HTCFuze - would it work? I'm not familiar with the BES interface and settings... so I figured you all may be a bit more knowledgeable on this.
Any help is appreciated...
As a BES admin i can say that the BES does support BBConnect but it is quite possible that this functionality has been disabled at the BES itself.
For it to work, and i am assuming that you are looking for full two way synch of mail/calendar/address book, then you are going to need the co-operation of the BES admin. If he says no dice then i am afraid it is no dice.
Also BBC is never going to give you the full BB experience, i had two BBC users, one of whose handsets broke and after two days with a real BB he said to not bother replacing the dead handset.
Are the company going to be paying for any part of this?
Thanks for the responce...
They are not paying or any part of this- as I'm a 3rd party consultant. I've previously used my blackberry that has since died. I'd assume the information I got was their general dismallal of useage of the blackberry connect.
All I really need is my mail useability on a WM6 platform- so I can utilize the phone for my consulatant company needs, as well as my employer (blackberry) needs right now. This would mean a WM6 platform letting meuse webmail- and a secure BBconnect app on the WM6 to let me just check my mail- thats all I need from the BES.
Im just trying to avoid carrying 2 phones with me... that's really all. I'm not trying to compromise security- they are interfering with my productivity!
do they allow OWA access to your email? if so look at setting it up as a BIS connection. never done it and we don't run Exchange so it's not an option for us but it may do what you want without impacting anything else.

Jason B Nelson
Hello!
I have got the Xda Diamond (~HTC Diamond from o2 Germany) with Windows mobile 6.1
I´m studying at the Technological University of Berlin. To log on the local area network (eduroam) of the university, I need a VPN client. But there is no version working with WM6.1, I tried about three different clients (it always says, that ... is no win32-application)
For example that one (as recommended by the network administration of the TU Berlin):
http://www.tubit.tu-berlin.de/filea.../Windows_Mobile/SecureW2_EAP_Suite_112_CE.zip
Does anybody which client I should take?
Thank You for answering and greetings from Germany
Network storage application
I would like to have an application that could convert my micro-sd card into a network storage, being able to access this folder through my home lan. It would be similar to WM5torage but for WiFi (not usb).
Please note that I'm NOT asking for a way to access a network folder in my PDA (the usual reply I get). I already know how to do this with total commander. What I want is a way to create a shared folder inside Windos Mobile, that I can access from my computer through my home network.
TIA.
Visual Voicemail
I think that Visual Voicemail is a place where Windows Mobile is lacking compared to the iPhone.
It would function by receiving emails with mp3/wav attachments from online voicemail services such as Youmail. It would cypher the information from the email and provide information for that voicemail.
There is a discussion on the topic right now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
A developer has started toying with it but NEEDS help!
Thanks everyone!
Hi
Im using Imate Jam (Magician).
I want a software which turns my ppc into an answering machine i-e it can automatically reply/block sms and accept/reject/hang/answer calls based on predetermined rules. The software should also have the capablity of scheduling text messages and then sending them out smoothly.
Ill be extremely grateful if you help me out and provide such software.
If such software already exists please pardon me and tell me where to get it.
Mod Edit: Grab a copy of "Call Firewall + Sms Blocker" here
MOD EDIT 2: User is looking for something that supports wm 2003
i think my request would be somewhat easy to accomplish, but as im not so technically inclined (and somewhat too lazy to really try), ill ask here....
....what im looking for is a way to have area code matching on my Kaiser, or on Windows Mobile phones in general.....what i mean is like, when i receive or place a call, once the number is dialed, it shows the state corresponding to the area code i've dialed.....i know my old Samsung A920 did this, along with some other Samsung and Sanyo phones, and i think it would be great for WinMo....
Yet another think XDA's lack is a Myspace app. Maybe we can get something rolling like this facebook app that is being created???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455263
Please back me up if you would like to see an app like this.
A "visual voicemail" app for diamond and other ppc phones that can record phone calls
as some of you may already know the diamond can record both sides of a conversation during a phone call using the notes application.
I read in another forum where someone was asking about visual voicemail and since sprint charges for forwarding calls there is no good option.
I was thinking maybe if there was a developer willing to give it a go to develop a "visual voicemail" application that would answer the phone after a user defined amount of rings,
Record the message while muting the phone's mic of course that way you don't get background noise from your own phone and then save it in mp3 or wav.
Then have it give you the phone number the time, date and the option to listen to the message either with a built-in player or with windows media.
To give you a visual of what i'm talking about if you've seen the visual voicemail app on the samsung instinct something like that but everything is done on the phone side.
Hopefully someone will agree that this would be a useful program and give it a shot.
Attention Required to upgrade my fone !!!
Hi All,
I juss found the update with HD elements in the forum which seems to have a good impact.
Let me start of with my problem. i'm using HTC Touch(might be ELF) and i keep visiting xda forums for new apps., for my fone. I installed Manila 2D earlier which made the fone very very very slow. I'm giving you my details of the fone below.
Rom Version : 2.20.720.2B WWE
Rom Date : 10/02/07
Radio Version : 03.07.90
Protocol Version : 4.1.13.51
ExtRom Version : 2.20.720.103
RAM Version : 128MB
Flash Size : 256MB
Storage Size : 144.23MB
Model No : ELF0100
My Fone is working on WM 6.0
Now what is require is i would like to have to install WM6.1 on my fone with the new Touch VIVA Interface. Is this possible ? if so please cud some one assist me how to install for the same. As earlier i written Manila 2D made the fone completely slower. So i would like to upgrade my ROM (what ever) as i not much aware of this installations or upgrades.
Please some one assist me with the same for the complete new look like TOUCH VIVA fone for my existing TOUCH.
I would pretty happy and thankful who can assist me for this entire process.

Jags....

I need Voda V2 Dual Card configurations
Does anyone know where to find the configurations for the Voda V2 Dual Card Quad Band FM Cell Phone. It is suppose to be unlocked and I am a AT&T user but don't have the setup to use my phone.
Jeyo Mobile Companion alternative and HTC Phone pad Upgrade
Well my request wouldnt be new anymore but i still want to pursue it if ever a developer would make it,
a jeyo mobiler software like, that can manage your text messages from the pc, send, recieve and read text messages from the pc and lastly a decent back up process that could backup even if ur message is over 160 characters (1 message line) jeyo has a screw up on the back up process coz, it shortens a text message fixed to 160, so if your text message is 165, if jeyo is to back it up it will only store a 160 char message back up. you lost the data. I need to back up morethan 5000 messages and most of which are over 160 character.
another request would be a newer version for HTC phone pad input..
this input application ROCKS! its like using a cellphone keypad over your pocket pc. so texting wouldnt be so much of a problem if your walking or something. the modification i would like to ask is character deletion from 2 character to one and higher WM version compatibility, as I tried it before, phone pad had issues with WM6.1.
alarm sound on vibrate/silent?
in some ROM's there is an option under "more" in clock & alarms that allows you to enable the alarm sounding when on silent or vibrate. does anyone know of a CAB that you can install that will add this feature without downloading the whole ROM'?
VGA Backgrounds
Looking for a VGA background using orange & blue and/or the Florida Gators, University of Florida, UF, Gators... you get the idea. If not familiar with what shades of orange & blue... see examples of the latter.
I use TF3D, so I'm not looking for full out themes- no TSK files please.
Is there an application to delete a file && is there an application to run commands like dos batch??? my target is to make an installing cab that on the next startup start an application and then delete the file started or the link to the started application
PLZ coul you help me?!?!?

I read from this article:http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/31/apple-to-release-fix-for-iphone-sms-vulnerability-on-saturday/
It says the vulnerability impacts our WM phone as well. Anyone has checked that and if fix is available? Tried using Google to search our beloved forum but didn't pop up anything yet ..
I read about this too and if it can be patched that quickly on Android then I'd hope it should also be a quick patch on WinMo, especially as the SMS functionality is implemented in pretty much the same way apparently.
Plus XDA has people who are working with Android so maybe they can share what changes Google have made?
I am fairly surprised this hasn't been picked up by the technical bods here as it is quite a major vulnerability and Apple and Google have patched their OS's so WinMo is trailing behind... unless someone knows of a patch thats already been done?
I'm going to PM some mods I know ..
Any response from them yet?
Our good Dave is going to check with some resident expert.. and hopefully some lights to be shed.
From the info I gathered, it actually result in DOS for iPhone and Android, but no news/confirmation on WM yet. So we don't know. However, given the method explored by the author, it's likely at minimum resulting the same (DOS, phone hung, etc.). I think, for phone user, this is critical, as you can't spend your day checking the phone always just to make sure it's still connecting to network/operators.
From what I read the vulnerability could allow for remote code execution including reading your phone's storage and activating cameras and gps. So someone could write an app that send this information back via the data connection and that person could be watched and tracked without knowing that there were compromised.
This is obviously worst case scenario but I for one would sit on the paranoia side of the fence and get it plugged. If we can.
From what I got and discussion, it's mostly DOS.
However, IMO, it still scary. You can't be contacted nor SMS-ed without you realizing until you need to initiate call/ connection.
For someone most of the time on receiving side (doctors, etc) it's really a danger. I do hope our resident expert can find out something, as I don't think MS will be doing it.
You may want to read this article where they interview one of the guys that found the vuln...

Charlie: Collin's framework also works on Android and WinMobile. We found some denial of service bugs in Android (which we reported and are fixed) and a pretty bad bug in the way HTC WinMobile phones handle SMS messages containing the format specifier %n. That's a fun one because you don't need any special tools to send the malicious message, just use your phone to text your buddy with %n and their TouchFlo (application manager) will crash and won't come back up.

I believe the current HTC handsets come with WM6.1 now as standard, either HTC or Operator flavoured. As this is a forum for all HTC devices on WM5.0/6.0/6.1/6.5 can we have some testing done on stock ROM's on stock devices please?
I'm going to send a %n text to my buddy's phone and see.
At least now the thread is getting some attention. My concern is for people (like me) that rely more on receiving call/SMS than making call/sending SMS. A crashed network connection will result in no phone at all.
How'd the testing go and any movement on patching?
Just sent myself a %n message but nothing happened. On TPC v10.9 on M2D (Mega's M2D)
My friend is now using custom ROM .. so no try there. I don't have OEM that has M2D ..
What about just trying it on a bog standard WM6.1 OEM ROM from an operator.
Can do .. later perhaps when I'm changing ROM again. I thought it only crashes M2D? No OEM for Kaiser has M2D ..
Reviving this thread because iPhone is vulnerable. Not sure if IE also on our Kaiser? Opera?

Once again Microsoft has made the decision to scale back features for Windows Mobile users.
I received an email from Microsoft today indicating that they would be ending the service of two more Windows Mobile FEATURES.
The first service to be cut this time isn't too bad. Microsoft is terminating the Marketplace website within a few months. The site is scheduled to go offline forever on July 15, 2011. You will still be able to utilize the Marketplace mobile application to buy and download applications. No big deal right???
Then comes the decision that really chaps my hyde.
Microsoft is also discontinuing the MyPhone service ALL TOGETHER!
I don't know about you, but that was one of the features that I use frequently & even influenced my decision to use Windows Mobile instead of Android or the iPhone.
Microsoft heavily touted this feature in their information and marketing materials. One of the things I PAID FOR was the ability to backup ans sync my device information and it's location on a daily basis. Many cooks use the MyPhone service & I don't know anbody that hasn't had to use it a time or two.
Microsoft is terminating completely, the MyPhone service, both the website & the mobile device application on August 7, 2011.
This is an absolute tragedy & a terrible decision in my opinion & the opinions of all the users I personally interact with.
This was a great service & something that really set Microsoft apart from many other platforms. Say your phone died, you are out of town on business & need your contact, out came the old backup device 7 wham, minutes later you had your texts, contacts, email & documents back in your hands.
What is even more saddening, Microsoft is trying to sell us on the fact that SkyDrive is the superior product, that they are somehow helping us out & giving us a better solution to use. Where is SkyDrive mobile? Does it help me find my lost device? Can SMS & email messages be backed up & downloaded straight to my device through a neat & nicely integrated application? THE ANSWER IS NO!!! MyPhone is great for road warriors & is used by so many people I know. Not just the app, but the website that also saved this information from my previous device as well.
All I can say is that this is a MAJOR disappointment!
So, why do I buy Microsoft when they kill everything a year or two later?
Well, before this it was because I was a loyal user since the days of CE. Microsoft had a great development platform & was innovative. They really were first on the scene with barcode scanning though Elure, (Remember the stick-on magnifying glass?) It was great, but they let it die.
How about the promise of a great speach to text and search application? Tell me? No, really, TellMe. Microsoft bought TellMe & promised us this great application that first was developed for Blackberry & then never followed through with the application for Windows Mobile users.
Why is it that Microsoft develops competing technologies & then always dumps one without regard for what user want & actually use? I just can't understand why they never integrate the popular features of one service into it's successor. Why should you go out & buy WP7, The OS that took forever to come out & that they are already replacing? In my opinion you shouldn't That should tell you something, because I have been an avid supporter of Windows Mobile from the start, before the start. (Can you say Pocket PC 2002).
I am looking more & more at Android & will most likely be making a new acquisition soon.
I got the same email and althought my phone still has a till is cut off completely (the start of the move to sky drive is on the date you stated) and i also have been an avid supporter of window mobile since the early days, a user since windows CE 2002 and now a developer of applications for the platform, I suddenly feel i am presneted with a choice. Go with windows mobile or android. This presents me with 3 problems. Firstly, i have a little less than a year on my contract before i can upgrade (i can't afford to go out and just buy a new phone right now) and, secondly, i hate android with a passion. Don't get me wrong, it suits most people and i'm not a MS fanboy (boy used loosely since i'm alomst 30) but i just don't like the UI and i miss the feature set CHT brought to my windows mobile device and before that how easy it was to get around the stock windows user interface. Last of all i've not seen anything on windows Phone 7 that would sway me. I'm not an xbox user, i use copy and paste alot (i know there is an update for that coming/out) and most of all, from my reading, i need to go and buy a new WP7 HTC device to get the most out of it and most of them suck!
So what do i do? get a nokia and screw up my work rate when i'm out of the office? Go android and hate every second of my life to the point i wish i'd bought a nokia? or go with windows phone 7 for my hd2 and suffer the pain of all the bugs of porting an OS to a phone it was never designed to run on?
The way i see it, right now, after having a few beers and being on the wrong side of sober, i might as well have been pushed off a building with the words "F**k you, A**hole!"
it seems we are really few users. only 16 posts about this ridiculous decision. see thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115987&page=2
Well as you see I'm a total noob and I claim the title proudly. So while I skewed your poll a little I did find this post to be very informative. I had actually never heard of MyPhone but after reading the passionate thread that sounds exactly like what I could have been using for quite some time now. Though this may be a long shot, if you do come across a program that is comparable to MyPhone would you be willing to share? As being able to easily sync and transfer my data from phone to phone has always been my largest/ chief complaint with any phone carrier.
and MyPhone is one of the key points to WHY I have a wm6.5 phone after all.. this, and compatibility with older mobile software.
If someone finds a replacement app, I would be glad to know it too.
I'm disappointed that Microsoft is getting rid of the service. It really helped with flashing ROMs and such things. Definitely not getting a WP7 phone when I upgrade.
First of all half of this article is confusing. The part regarding the Marketplace shut down is misleading. The only thing that is being discontinued from the marketplace is the website that we can access from our browsers. According to Microsoft's own website (link is in the email, I was confused at first as well).
Next, the MyPhone service is a pretty novel idea, but it's almost one way, you can only sync to the servers, but the servers only sync to your phone, why not just use PPCBackup then if it's going to be synced to one place anyways. It makes better sense now with Hotmails ActiveSync support to use that instead, the only downside being is some data isn't synced (text messages for example, but at least contacts (primary), calendar, email, and tasks are supported). I tried MyPhone before, but the limitation of it being stuck on the MyPhone server and not being able to share it anywhere else was the reason I never used it regularly. I wish they'd upgrade the service to use Windows Live, which would be an improvement over the current syncing.
probably it's not much people knowing this.... i myself never check my live mail mail box and only know microsoft decision right now.....
Cleary this is not as big a travesty as you think it is, not to take anything away from you but WIN MO is a dead platform. People always have a hard time admitting this but there are about 12 posts on this subject so I am pretty sure MSFT is not really feeling the heat about there decision. It like seeing someone who lived a full and happy life die, you are sad but know that there time has come, much like everything WIN MO related. I recommend you pick up an Android phone and move on.
Well MS are full of broken promises and dreams, they are keen to kill WM one way or another.
They brought out Visual Studio 2010 and spouted about how you can develop for mobile platforms using Express for free... and didn't mention that not only does Express not include WM in any form, but not even the pro version supports it. (It was even pushed from 2005 standard into 2008 pro only previously).
It's ok, because they promised they'd bring out an SDK...which is..oh nevermind, broken promise. You can't even use it to port your app on to windows phone or try to develop for both...dev friendly or what!
As for the app market...just closing the website...how long before they kill the app store too for WM, you know it will come soon after. They clearly want to push any WM user kicking and screaming on to windows phone, they are trying to do that to the devs too. Imagine if you've developed an app which is on the market for WM, well MS doesn't care anymore.
What form is the transfer to SkyDrive going to take? As of now, there is no support for sms messages/contacts data (oh please don't import them into my hotmail/live account...I never use the contacts there since they were always hacked). Do I have to port them into outlook or something, because for the same reason, I don't want to keep them there either. Let me guess, you will be able to import them into your windows phone 7 device without too many problems using the nice shiny app, and there will be a WM SkyDrive app erm...never (at least from MS). Still you get 20Gb of space which you can access on the move (from a device you don't have...).
For me, I see Windows Phone 7 a bit like Vista, with WM being XP. Yes it has fancy graphics and bells, but if you aren't using the latest hardware, XP does a half-decent job in the mean time.
The plus side, well there isn't much else which MS supply, unless they start to pull SDKs and other files off their sites (I noticed a while back they've removed most of the developer info and videos etc for WM - not just moved, but totally gone).
It's not like they were updating the OS apart from through leaked builds and besides compact .net 3.5 was getting messed up more and more by the poor updates anyway. Oh yeah they promised silverlight and compact .net 4 for wm too at one point, now we know that is a pipe dream. There was talk of keeping WM in some form as a business phone device which would live alongside WP.
Really inspires me to follow them with WP7, as a user and as a dev.
Android is a good option, but I still feel there are too many unknowns with it at the moment, since it is trying to support the latest hardware it is (and needs to) keep up. It's a moving target at the moment and it's not quite landed somewhere. Of course I'll play with it, but pointless investing too deeply in it quite yet, unless you've got spare cash of course.
iOS...it's solid, but it is still due for a big shake up me-thinks (I half expected iOS5 to do that), plus I don't want an iDevice.
@bradgog
Travesty? I think you mean tragedy. ;-)
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I really do not want to move on from WinMo. I know it's impending, but I really do not like what I see from wp7. Android looks like the better alternative at this point I guess.
Becoming so accustomed to my device with all the programs and tweaks is just going to suck to have to give up. I knew this was coming, but it doesn;t make it any easier. Hell, only 5% of devices even have physical keyboards now. Seems that nothing is tailored for my likes.
It's very a sad news !!
I don't like WP7 and i don't want WP7 !
WM with HCT OEM Apps are a very good solutions....the HD2 is actually a best seller with a lot of possibility...
Just a question.....what about professionnal ? What about the "Windows Embedded Handeld" aka WM6.5.3 ?
The professionnal never want to use this WP7, and Microsoft said after the launch of WP7 that they would to continu a branch of WM for the pro ( WEH).
So what about this ???
Maybe we could contact Microsoft
What on earth are they thinking? surely MyPhone and Marketplace can't take up too much space on |Microsofts Servers!
I have had too move to Android, not liking Windows phone at all even including the Mango 7.5 update.
Mind you i have been through this before with Windows CE, Windows 2000 Profesesional, so it doesnt really come as much of a suprise.
Im still very unhappy though
Guys guys guys ...
Did you not hear MS telling all it's existing and previously most loyal customers to go f&%k themselves when they went down the WP7 route? They're into competing with Nokia and Apple now for children's phones.
We're all gonna have to get used to Android sooner or later. Just a bit sooner than expected for some that's all.
Come on into the Windows Phone pool, water's fine over here!
It's sad that they want to kill their older system so badly.
When I bought a phone a year ago, I chose Windows Mobile over others as it fit my preferences the best. According to the sales data I saw, I wasn't the only one. Last year a lot more people bought a Windows Mobile phone than a Windows Phone one. If it is true, Microsoft's decision strikes me as strange. They still support Windows XP that is two generations behind the current OS, while they refuse to support WM that is WP's direct predecessor.
well, learn about the news yesterday and i went out to find some replacement.... it turn out that google sync is a much better option for contact sync and calendar. But still, i haven't found others online backup services that's good for text messange backup.
still, it's a shock that microsoft turn down support in less than 2 years after discontinue winmo, there are still lots of people on contract with their winmo devices.
It is indeed a travesty!!
I have a car that is 7 years old, can still get parts easily for that?
There’s Apple with their new cloud, well if you think about it we all had part of that before apple ever thought about it in myphone.
I hear they are moving some of our files / pictures etc to Microsofts cloud, then why can’t they make that function like myphone for us???
I am sure they could, but NO they want us to move on to WM7.
Why would we want to move to a service that is SO VERY CLOSED DOWN before we start.
Microsoft will push our share of their market “US” probably over to Adroid!
Shame on you Microsoft, will you listen to loyal folk.
Paul.
P.S. See you all on the other Side maybe.
who cares ?
Microsoft is dead!
