TF3D weather won't update, PLEASE help. - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi:
For months now, I have been unable to access the MediNet home page. I started searching the other day, and found a cab which installs the medianet settings. After installing it, I am now able to access MediaNet home, as well as Cellular Video (which I couldn't access before either).
Now, the problem is, TF3D weather will not update at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
I really don't want to lose any of the features I now have, but I do need weather to update.
Thanks so much!
PS: I will attach the cab I used to set medianet settings. I also tries changing the username to netx, which I found in another thread when seraching, but that had the same results.

did you change your opera about:config settings so that your phone is recognized ONLY as a pc and not as a mobile phone? I know that that is one reason for why you could not be able to access media net.

I have had the same problem occasionally.
I dont suggest you use that program. you should uninstall it and do the following
I called At&t customer support (i have a fuze) and they walked me through it, and oddly i remember it by heart...
from today screen or touch flo 3d
start>settings>connections tab>connections>advanced tab>select networks> make sure the top box says media net
click edit>there should be a profile called MEdia net select it and click edit
click next make sure the access point name is wap.cingular click next
make sure all three fields are empty if there is a username password or domain, you should take it out
click finish
then go back to the home screen
from the homescreen
click start>programs>tools>proxy manager>restore proxy>ok
now it should work without the glitch of the program you used

[A] Mapping Network Drives using HTC's Network Plugin

I've tried using Resco Explorer 7.05/Total Commander 2.5.1/HTC's Network Plugin
For some reason i can't seem to map network drives.
In resco when i try to connect to a drive it tells me it's not accessible
In Total Commander it just doesn't connect
In HTC's Network plugin it writes: "Map Drive Failed"
-I'm using Vista on the comp i want to share folders in.
-Sharing works fine on all comps other than in my PPC (not password protected)
-It seems as not only it doesn't map the drive but doesn't acknowledge as anything but the computers on the network exist. no folders inside those computers. Thought about changing my ppc's domain but i don't know how to do that.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Yeah, VISTA FILE SHARING is a bit tricky! You not only have to share that particular drive / folder; you also have to check the settings in the SHARING CENTER - in addition you might have to adjust the file permissions as well.
Everything is perfect on file settings. i have a network running 3 computers and 2 laptops all sharing folders no passwords all permissions set. only thing not able to read the folders is the PPC. It finds the comps on the network but doesn't show the folders.
Did you MOUNT the drives in RESCO? You can't just click on it in the FILE EXPLORER - tap and hold, then select MOUNT DRIVE or FOLDER (depending on what you're sharing).
What RESCO VERSION did you use?
dude... i can't see drives nor folders.
i'm using 7.05
for the record, i tried looking at a winxp comp instead of a vista one.. can't see anything.
tried accessing through ip and name.. both come out with nothing..
I wish someone would help with this also. I have two computers and 1 ppc on my home network. My ppc(HTC Titan) used to be able to access both computers. Then all of a sudden it stopped working for my main computer(bedroom) with all MY files on it, but it still accesses files on my second computer(upstairs). On the main computer(bedroom) I can access the shared folders of the second computer(upstairs), but the second computer can't access the files from the main computer.I dont know whats wrong, but it seems more like a computer issue. I operate Windows XP on a Dell. The network folder used to work perfectly for me and I can't put my fiinger on what's blocking it.
This might be the wrong thread to post this issue(maybe the wrong website) but I thought I would ask since the issues are similar. If it's a ppc program for accessing the shared folders on a computer, then someone should have a How-To or a check list of how to set both up for the program to work fluently. Can somebody please post what you need to do on the computers to ensure sharability of the file systems.
The reason why this is so important to me is because I have been hooking-up my Titan since may 2008 and I am near completion. I'm totally done adding app's and the functionality of the device is superb except for this issue. Just bought a 16gb micro sdhc card and that works great. My girlfriend just ordered a seido 3500mah extended battery with the door to fit and a rubberized hard case for extended battery fit. I'm so excited about have the best phone setup of my life but I everytime I go back to this issue I get pissed off. It was all good til about 4 months ago and I don't know why it suddenly stopped working. Please HELP!!!
If the HTC Network plugin is not locating your shared files on your network, this likely suggest that it is an issue with your network settings. I suggest playing around with your security settings; however, I just recently had a problem accessing any of my shared files over any of my computers between each other and between my HTC Device. It just suddenly stopped working. I knew that I didn't change any settings myself and had tried many things to try to resolve the problem without success. I then decided to run my anti-spyware programs and Anti-Virus programs and let them run overnight. In the morning, the Anti-spyware removed several things - One was labeled as high risk and the others were low and the Anti-Virus found two high risk viruses. Everything was taken care of automatically and voila - I had no problems connecting to my shared files with my computers or my HTC Device. I ran the spyware and virus check programs again and everyting was clean.
the problem is that i can't even map the drives. i can see the comps on the network using the HTC Network Plugin but can't do anything other than that. when i try mapping a drive it tells me that i can't.. for some reason.
i removed password protection...shared the drive... nothing works.
I am assuming you are trying to connect through WIFI -
Make sure that you are actually connected to your network. My device has on several occasions connected to my neighbours wifi rather then my own - results in not being able to access shared folders
Through HTC NEtwork plugin you are exploring the computer for the shared folders right? You say you can see the computers - when you click the plus next to the specified computer in the network plugin are you getting any results at all there.
Make sure you don't have (I don't know if this is what it is called) MAC address filter or password. One of my friends has an open WIFI Network but has MAC Address filter which stops you from actually being able to use the network. You can connect but that is it. You wouldn't be able to surf the internet at all through WIFI either if this was the problem.
If it is none of these, Maybe it is a Windows VIsta problem - I don't know, I have XP
Do you have trouble connecting to other shared folders on other peoples WIFI networks also? (people who have XP)
-XP doesn't work either.
-i can see the comps, so i'm obviously connected to the network.
-i have mac filtering - see previous statement
-wifi works - see previous previous statement
dunno what to do.
Maybe something with your WIFI Settings on your device then?
Maybe you can review your settings on your device - Anythign that you think might be causing the problem - Describe it here, I will check my device settings (even though different devices - should still be the same - and will let you know if there are any differences. I must go eat dinner right now, but will check back after supper and bathing my daughter and putting her to bed. in a hour and a half two hours from now...
Set your desktop to support NTLM instead of just NTLMv2.
That way I got shared folders working with the HTC Network Plugin and my Vista desktop. Unfortunately some HTC apps (like HTC Camera) only expect your device to have two drives (internal ROM and flash card) so when you mount a network drive, they can't access your flash card.
Well, i can start searching, but if you don't mind, could you tell me how to do that?

I wish it worked for me too, but when I get to the "Group Policy Object Editor" I'm getting lost. I don't see that anywhere. Is my computer missing important files? I'm using windows xp. I hope I don't have to restore the whole computer to get the file sharing working. But if I gotta do it I will.the phone see's the computer, but no file sharing. It is that important to me to share files between my phone and computer. My home setup is sweet, and my phone is an extension of it.
Any Other Ideas
So, I have gone through and done everything suggested here. Lan Authentication, created private network, reconnect, everything I can think of...nothing seems to work
Does anyone have any further ideas about what could possibly work to create a LAN over WIFI?
Hardware:
Vista Business, Mogul 6.1 stock ROM 5.2.19208 and Folder Plugin build 30468.
DONE SO FAR:
Have created an adhock private network...connected to it on my device no problem. But when i go to search for my computer in network plugin under the browse menu it thinks about it and in the end doesn't see anything...
so, at wits end...I know I am new but most of the info over is fairly beyond my level I am certinaly a lurker and no info over at PPC Geeks with solutions...either way alot of the stuff over there comes from over here so thought I would see if anyone had some suggestions.

[Q] Need APN Settings Galaxy S 4G

Would someone be able to supply me with the APN settings for my Galaxy S 4g? This idiot just deleted his. I thought something was wrong with my phone because I had lost all ability to use packet data over anything but Wi-Fi. So while troubleshooting I deleted the default without backing it up. I did figure out why I lost data though. Did you know T-Mobile expects you to pay them EVERY month? The wife thought I paid it and I thought she had.
It's paid now, but I can't find anything here or on google that references that they are specifically for SGS4G. Does it matter? Can I use any?
BTW, if anyone knows any alternate config for APN that claims improved speeds I may as well use those. Never wanted to before because I'm satisfied with my speed, but since I'm adding them back....
Have you tried reseting APN to defaults?
Press the Menu Key
Tap on Settings
Tap on Wireless and network
Tap on Mobile networks
Tap on Access point names
Press the Menu Key and tap on Reset to Default
Don't know if that will work for ya... but other than that you have to call tmobile/yourmobilecarrier to get the settings.

I'm not at my computer right now. But go to the vibrant section and look for the think tank removing data throttle thread. Or Google T-Mobile apn settings and manually enter them on the phone.

Thanks to golmar n blackphnx for the reply, I had googled and found some before posting, but wasn't sure if I it was one size fits all. I tried what you suggested Golmar and it worked except I needed to take a couple more steps beyond your post. You got me in the right direction though. If any other boneheads ever does the same as me, follow the below:
1. Follow steps given by Golmar in post 2 to get to your APN settings but you won't have restore defaults when selecting menu (system won't let you if you do not have any APN. Only can choose to create a new one or cancel from the pop up)
2. What you will see if you have no APN stored is it goes directly to a dialogue asking if you want to create a new one or cancel. Say yes and you get a full form asking for all the detailed APN info (If you say no/cancel it exits back to the previous menu).
3. Enter Name (doesn't matter what) and then epc.tmobile.com in the APN field don't know if you need APN, but I put it in.
4. Now, when you select menu you will have option to Save or Discard. Select Save.
5. Saving brings you to the screen you normally would see to select default APN or another one if you had created. (If you just went through these steps you should see just 1 named whatever you entered in step 3.)
6. At this point you can select menu and choose to restore defaults. Your default APN will return and the dummy just created will be removed.
Good to know!

[MOD] How to: Remove "attwifi" from your AT&T One X

EDIT: This is meant to resolve the following issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...tomatically-connecting-att-wifi-hotspots.html
For this your phone needs to be rooted and you need Root Explorer from the Market:
1) Open root explorer
2) Tap on "Mount R/W" to mount the file system
3) Navigate to /data/misc/wifi
4) Press and hold on wpa_supplicant.conf and select "Open in Text Editor"
5) Delete the following lines from the file:
network={
ssid="attwifi"
key_mgmt=NONE
priority=1
}
6) Once deleted tap on the 3 dot's in the top right hand corner of the app
7) Tap on "Save and Exit"
8) Reboot
After that you will no longer be forced to connect to "attwifi"
good for security, seems stupid to auto connect to those!
When you open the Hot Spot app, the above code to remove does the following:
- Instead of the ssid being "HTC Portable Hotspot" - default; it's "attwifi"
- Instead of using WPA2 (AES Encryption), it sets it use none instead.
These can be changed even without editing the above, before turning on the hotspot ability.
Again, it doesn't remove anything, simply doesnt preset anything.
Cheers Though.. Keep tinkering

Not on AT&T's version you can't. They force you to connect to it so you don't have to use their sucky network. It has nothing to do with changing the hotspots name.
Can't we just freeze it with TiB?

Edit in regards to my first post: It doesnt remove it, it simply stops the forced connection to the AT&T wifi hotspot instead of your saved personal wifi points (the prority=1 entry).
I was incorrect, but you're still incorrect at saying it removes it. Sorry.
Edit 2: "Remove "attwifi" from your AT&T One X"
nothing is being' removed'. the hot spot is still there, though forced connection to it is not longer occuring. nothing hard to grasp.
Cheers.
Look if you are having an issue grasping the concept of what this does then please move on.
The whole point of it is -> TO STOP THE FORCED CONNECTION TO AT&T <-. NOT instead of, it FORCES you to connect to these wifi spots at&t has all around the US. They do this so you utilize attwifi's bandwidth and it eases their network congestion.
IIRC Rogers doesn't do this type of garbage to manage their network congestion. So, I am not wrong. You are the one who is having a hard time grasping this concept. Cheers, keep tinkering though.

I saved a backup of the file just in case anything went wrong, and then deleted those lines. Is there a way to just comment out the lines instead of deleting them?
I also noticed that the keys for all my wifi connections are stored as plain text in this file, including some corporate ones that use my network credentials to log in. Seems a tad insecure to me.

Yeah that's one of the security issues they don't seem intent on fixing. I would assume malware could just snatch that file off our phones.
I'm pretty sure because its a .conf file and its not actual code we can't comment them out. I could be wrong though.
Does this mod work for anyone? Granted I tried it on the HTC One X+ phone and if I remove that entry I can no longer enable wifi, it shows "Error". Any other changes that need to be made? I also found /etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, made the same change there and still no luck.
Does it work reliably on the HOX phone?
Ah, ES File Explorer screwed me! First time I use it to edit a file and what it did it saved the original file as a .bak and created a new file with my changes. The problem is that the new file is owned by root and rw by root only, but the original conf file is owned by system:wifi and 660 perms. Once I fixed ownership and perms, wifi starts even without the attwifi entry.
So yes, we can remove the attwifi entry, but there's still a problem: once you manually connect to attwifi once, the entry is put back in and cannot be removed via the UI, you have to edit the file all over again. It seems that we need a proper fix from a ROM developer to allow the UI to forget the attwifi entry, it must be hard-coded that the attwifi entry is not editable.

I saw your other post too, but quoting this one.
This is a very old thread and this method is dated. Root your phone, get a proper ROM, and then try.. I just tested with a One X+ using Viper XL+ ROM and it works no issues.

I tried this on my SGN2 and had the same problem. .. My wifi would no longer work and I had to restore the phone from a backup as even restoring a backup of the file wouldn't enable wifi.
Wow, I looked inside that file and lo and behold the password for my home network is stored there as unencrypted ascii text. How stupid is that... The moment my phone is compromised so is my home network.

You could encrypt your phone and set a PIN/password. If someone steals your phone I'm sure they would be more interested in wiping it clean so they can sell it than in your data, so they would not bother to get past your PIN. If you are thinking of a different type of compromise, e.g. someone remotely connecting to your phone while you are using your phone, or a rogue app/virus, then the encryption won't help.

Samsung Stratosphere 2 - Verizon

Hello,
I want to buy Samsung Stratosphere 2 SCH-i415 from someone who got it from Verizon.
I don't live in US and I want to use it in other country. If I unlock it - can I use it with any mobile carrier?
Thanks
Hey, was looking around the forum for something else and stumbled onto this thread.
Maybe you've already solved this, but here's the answer is anyone else are looking;
First off, if the phone has been activated first time with a verizon sim card in the US already, it should be unlocked and ready for calling and sms. Verizon doesn't sim lock the phone, only lock APN's for GPRS/3G traffic (solution for that below)
Just bought this phone off ebay, got it to Norway and set about using it with a norwegian sim card.
First thing I needed to do was bypass the verizon setup wizard, as it just kept saying "non-verizon sim" and asking me to reboot.
The solution for this was remarkably simple, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=36lfn9sBo70
"1. Make sure you are on the select language screen.
2. Tap bottom left, Tap bottom right, Tap bottom left, Tap bottom right, Press Volume Up Key in that exact same order. Watch video if you are confused.
3. All Done. "
Next is rooting, need to do this for the next steps;
Depending on what software you have (4.0.4 or 4.1.2), grab the system image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078615 (page 8 for 4.0.4, page 7 for 4.1.2)
Then we want to remove the annoying "non-verizon sim" notification;
Use Titanium Backup pro to freeze the app called "Setup Wizard 1.0" (the one with verizon logo on it, not the version 1.3 one)
Job done. Now you can freely use any sim card anywhere for calling and sms (afaik)
For GPRS/3G traffic you will need to add your APN settings, but Verizon has locked this menu, so we need another way in.
I used "APN Manager Pro" to add my carriers APN data, the app found it in the database and did everything for me.
There are probably other, free ways to do this (editing apn xml file manually and so on) but I found this app well worth the few bucks they charge for it.
If you want to do it manually there are some other guides around here, and googling will get you some hints too.
The only problem I have left now is trying to get mine updated to Jelly Bean, as Verizon only uses OTA update, and won't let me do it from Norway with a non-verizon sim card, but I have faith we will find a solution for this too.
Otherwise a great phone for the full-qwerty addicts out there :good:
Hey I in sweden using a swedish sim card and I got the gprs/3g to work somehow without rooting. I managed to upgrade the firmware via wifi, and I think that opened the apn settings. but my main question is if its possible to open the 4G cause it only has gprs/3G now. and I wonder if u also just get gprs/3g or do get 4g also?
It can't be this easy can it?

confirmation
hey guys,
i can confirm i got this working on china mobile with some changes.
didnt find a database option in apn manager. i found the manual data here: (pm for link. not enough posts to make links apparently)
also found in order to get apn manager to save a new apn i needed to make it a system app with titanium.
also found, you dont need apn manager at all. if you go to settings ->more settings->mobile networks->access point names and then hit the "menue" button (three vertical dots at the bottom right of the phone), you get an option to add access point. fill out your info, and hit that button again, and you will see an option to save.
hope that helps someone else.
Look at the thread [Q] Rooting the Samsung Stratosphere II? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078615&page=27) at page 27 post #262 how to get a rooted image of MF1.
And in the same thread at page 31 post #305 how to get a rooted image of MJ2 which is currently (feb 2014) the latest ROM version for Stratosphere II.
Thanks to kado01 for his work.
I has been confirmed that the Stratosphere II can be rooted by the saferoot method.
Look in the above link at page 26 post #257.
Since version MF1 you can easily access the APN settings. So, no need to install any APN manager.
I have simply added the APN settings for my network provider manually and it works great.
And finally please take a look at the above thread at page 31 post #308 and the following to help kado01 get an unbrick file for his problem?
I can't do it because I am unable to upgrade my phone to MJ2 with the MJ2 bootloader because I don't live in the US and my phone is not activated on Verizons network. I can only install kado01's MJ2 rooted image.
Thanks.
Add new APN possible
How to add apn to verizon samasung galaxy stratosphere 2 i415 (Root required)
(I found this from some forum while I was searching for how to add APN for my brothers Verizon S3. It worked 100%. All credits go to the guy who posted it there. I didn't remember the address. And sorry for my bad english.)
Go to market install BuildProp Editor
Once installed find and open Build Prop Editor
Hit the menu button and select Edit
Scroll to the bottom of screen and add the following lines
ril.sales_code=LOL
ro.csc.sales_code=LOL
Hit the save button at the top right hand corner of the screen(looks like a disk)
Once this is done saving restart the phone
After restarting go to Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>Menu Button>+ New APN
Add desired carriers APN info, when finished hit menu button and save
Power down and change to your desired SIM card if you hadn't already done so
Power back on and go to Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks> Access Point Names (if done properly you should see the APN data you entered for your respective carrier).
Select the respective APN listing and then you should have working data
Congrats you can now natively add in any APN desired.

(SOLVED)How to bypass grp:google reset protection alcatel fierce xl 5054n.

So you fell into the grp trap, well, I have figured out a working way to bypass grp on an alcatel fierce xl 5054n. Go to the wifi page, make sure you are connected to internet, select a secured hotspot and type in anything as a password, then highlight the password. Then swype from swype symbol to s, it will open a browser, clear everything then type access settings, enter, bang then you should be in the phones settings, select add account, select imap account, outlook.com is a good one to use, so make one of those first. Back out from there and select factory reset, now after reset you can add a google account of your choice.
Just curious
Does this still work? Or do you know any new ways

Help
My key board doesn't have the swipe either. I done everything I can to change the keyboard please someone help me
Finally,a thread that shows that I'm not going as crazy as I thought I was
I have the same problem with the FRP for the 5044r. I knew nothing about the phone since I have an S6 S7 and S8 plus and buying a Google pixel xl 2 today. Allmy phones are bought for the purpose of a development hobby and I try to get deals. there's a local pawn shop where i the Alcatel I paid 40 bucks not knowing anything about a phone. But I can't get by the frp. I watched five different YouTube videos with the swipe trick and I was wondering why I couldn't do it I didn't realize that on a keyboard I can't change. So small, replies are very helpful. thanks to this thread
I looked at forums on rooting the 5044r. That looks like a full military project. I'm sure someone's going to run into a simple tool that can do it off the PC in a months. And what's even more frustrating is what work last week does not necessarily word this week because of the security patch. And as much as those boxes with dongles seem to be a great technology you're better off buying it waiting for shipping than getting a cracked version it's less consuming and time. Let's keep looking for a good ideas boys it took me about three days to figure out the name so f so far I'm at Alcatel A3 series IdealXCITE (5044R). So often looking for answers to problems is getting the name of the phone correctly so the search engine can find it. I have an S8 plus which is a Snapdragon Qualcomm chip and it took me two months to find out that the "F" Exynos variant version was a no-no for any type of mods except the US and where I live which is Canada.
This works, no keyboard tricks, kind of PITA but who cares. I am too new to post links but go to youtube and use this after .com/ watch?v=iFpT66ML-uE
ps your welcome

I'm in a similar position to jthibault27, I managed to get into my Alcatel Verso 5044c through the TalkBack>Help>YouTube>Privacy exploit (which now appears closed) but adding an outlook and resetting just set my GRP/FRP to permanent "Try again in 24 hours".
got into my settings finally and factory reset my alcatel one touch phone but after rebooting it still asks for the previous google account. Also tried opening the developer options by going into phone settings and tapping the build number 6 times but unfortunately that option isnt working for me either. If anyone can help please reply. I also tried adding a imap account but it says it cant validate my server settings. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IF POSSIBLE!!!
