Here's a weird one...
When I try and flash the RC7 image (FAT32 format microSD, copy DREAIMG.NBH over, boot with power / camera) the bootloader goes through the 'checking' process but then displays '00058002' in red text at the top and drops back to bootloader.
ARGH!
Any clues as to why it could be doing this? I've used the same process to root another G1 fine, and Google searches yield no clues.
:-(

Bootloader info:

Could this be the problem?

When Press Camera and Power Button the Phone Boot into HTC Bootloader and Immediately flashes error File not Found.
HTC SPL in other HTC Device allow us flashing by following two way.
1. Flashing using RUU But this Require Boot Loader USB Driver Mode which is not I think Present in Dream G1
2. Putting Some nb into SDCard and flash it.
In tricolor boot screen it Shows the Following Text
Code:
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.29

Serial0
unlike other HTC Devices Here it don't show SPL but it show CPLD. I think This device will look for DREAIMG.nbh to flash it.
Can we find some other way to Dump whole ROM Image and reflash it using Proprietary method we have used before.
yes it looks for DREAIMG.NBH however the NBH seems to be a different format
the first sign i guessed that from was:
format a card as fat32 and place some random file renamed as dreaimg.nbh as *first* file on it, then see what error code it will give you, 78002. normal HTC SPL will give you 68002
anyway, you need a hboot.img before doing anything at all =)
I have Stock RC30 should i make any Random File as DREAIMG.nbh and try flasing it using my 1gb fat32 card ?
This Thread is somewhat redundant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438072
but give DREAIMG.NBH another try i didn't check the headers
so this is a new magic, from the operator 3 (Sweden):

I tried to root it by following the 32A guide from http://theunlockr.com/2009/07/08/how-to-root-your-htc-magic/ - Everything seemed to go alright, but now I can not get passed the "HTC Magic" loading screen.. any ideas? :s

Wish I had seen this first. I did the exact same thing. I also need help……
Seems like it wont save the image at all, after reboot the memory seems wiped with nothing to load.
did you wipe before flashing new rom?
Easy instructions is to:
1. fastboot into Amon_RAs 1.2.0 recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img
2. Nandroid backup (although i suspect it might be a bit late for that now for you)
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Apply sd card: choose zip
5. select the rom you want to load onto your phone
6. reboot once finished and enjoy root.
I didn't wipe the first time (it didnt say in the guide that I had to), but all the other times I dod wipe the memory. I followed your instructions now, booted from Amon_RAs 1.2.0 recovery, wiped, installed, still no go.. any ideas?
Try to change your SPL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019
Go for the "Engineering" one..
Double check if you are installing the correct ROM for your phone. A ROM for 32A in your case. I got the same problem and it came out that I was installing a ROM for 32B while my phone is 32A.
GOOD NEWS!
Got it sorted out!
Some good news for you too, mererid!
1. 1. fastboot into Amon_RAs 1.2.0 recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 (as stated above from MontAlbert)
2. type in CMD:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
exit
3. Push up your ROM of choise (I used Amon_RAs Hybrid Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538645 ) using command: adb push update.zip /sdcard/update.zip
4. Wipe memory/reset factory defaults
5. flash update.zip
6. Boot and enjoy!
edit: It was command number 2 (mounting before pushing) that screwed with me...
Step #2 is not needed - you just need to be patient
The recovery rom presents the boot menu before a lot of the system has finished loading. In particular the sdcard isn't mounted at that point.
If you get errors trying to mount mbmblk then wait 10 seconds and try it again.
I've had the same problem.
The experts said that my device need another kernel. I've tried several ROMs but with flashing dalroid image I was successful.
I have instructions how to patch any ROM with my kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4038589&postcount=8. But I haven't tried it yet.
Hello everyone,
I've read all the topics how to root the my touch. I've downloaded different kinds of img recovery but still unable to root this "naughty" phone.
I want to explain what I did...
First of all, when I push Home button and power button, I'm not able to get in recovery mode because there appeared a big triangle with " ! ". I left it for a while but it kept showing that image. So I cannot use recovery mode some how
Then I downloaded
flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2.apk
flashrec-20090815.apk
I used Linda Manager to open those files.
One was successful installed but after that when I push button Backup Recovery Image it didn't work (Backup FAILED: could not run command )
Other ones just kept showing :"Parse Error"
Not giving up, I tried to use Fast boot to change recovery img. When I was in commander it showed:" c:\sdk\tools>fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img
downloading 'recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img' . . . FAILED (remote: not allow )
And then I tried to do again and again but => Failed
I spent 6 hours doing these things (( and I got nothing. Can anyone explain me how to root it in my case pleaseeeeeeee.
P/S: when I am in fastboot mode, it showed that my device is 32A but in G ?_?, I cannot understand when people say that 32A is H and 32B is G. Is my model is unique =))????
Thank you in advance !!
"(remote: not allow )" means you have a perfected SPL, means you have to downgrade the SPL to a non-perfected SPL (such as an engineering one), and in some cases you need to make a gold card out of an SD card in order to make it accept the downgrade.
And that's something you can easily find riddled on almost every page of this site.
Sounds like you failed to downgrade back to cupcake. Anyhow I followed to below guide when I first did my mytouch.
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/29/how-to-root-the-htc-magic-in-one-click/
I tried to downgrade back to cupcake . I downloaded the file nbh( ~9x MBs) and then pushed Volume down and power button. Then track the ball down but it failed too >"<..........................................
@kbeezie: do you know which topic explain carefully about the process to do that ? ?
Tell us what info you see when you enter fastboot please.
all right, here's the way to upgrade spl 1.76.0007 to the eng spl 1.76.2007, which post by cadetnudt on a chinese android forum. i'm not sure whether it worked for t-mobile or rogers...
here's how:
1.make a goldcard.
2.download [RUU][32A][CONTAIN SU] 3.04.401.2 Official RUU Sapphire HTC Europe AT test signed. and use it to flash your phone to the 3.04.401.2. you should now have a 1.76.0008 spl.
3.install a app named BETTER TERMINAL
4.get the Amon_RA's recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
5. flash the recovery in BETTER TERMINAL by typing these:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
6.you can now reboot to the new Amon_RA's recovery. feel free to flash the 1.76.2007 spl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, but i can't add those address in this post, just google those things you need as i mention
I tried the gold card method.
but when I tried to update in Volume Down + Power mode the file sappimg , it tried to instal, the blue bare on the right filled up but after that nothing happened, there were no even any notification. Then I tried to open recovery img file with hope in Fastboot mode, but it still update "boot.img" ... Failed >"<!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the third day I'm messing up with it (((.
Ok...Problem...
I was following forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672992, Cyanogen's thread to install 5.0.7-DS-test1. I had the latest CM stable build before.
Since it was my first time flashing the CM5 I followed step 3 in the installation post and jumped to wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/DangerSPL, the installation of DangerSPL. I followed the instruction, downloaded and fastbooted the G1-radio-2_22_23_02 (fastboot flash radio radio.img) with my Magic in Fastboot (back+power). It was loaded to the Magic ok, installed ok.
Rebooted the device to begin to install CM5-, GAPPS- and 32A-kernelzips in recovery mode... But I only got the htc magic-logo (home+power).
Fastboot (back+power) works, but my computer can't connect to my device via adb/fastboot (error:device not found).
On screen:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-2.22.23.02
If I start normally (power) I get the htc magic-logo and a red box in the upper left corner of the screen saying "FASTBOOT USB". Nothing else happens...
I tried to flash the DangerSPL by just powering up the device getting "htc magic" and red box. From console (fastbbot boot hboot.img) loaded ok (white vertical "load"-bar in right screen corner), but then I get "booting... FAILED (remote: reproduce boot image with on-flash ramdisk error)" in the console?!?!
HELP! Is it a brick? Then I have to cry...my magic...
Ok so here it is i have a mytouch 1.2 and in a sleep deprived stooper i was rooting my phone using the wrong guide (pre 1.2) doing so i got the sappimg file flashed went to boot it and got stuck at a htc magic boot screen with no ability to enter recovery nore will it boot. Frustrated i went back re read the guide DER top of the thread in bold red letters NOT FOR 1.2/Fender. GREAT so i reboot into fastboot mode try to unroot my phone with a original tmobile sappimg which is the only other sappimg ive been able to find that will even try to flash get to recovery and get a fail-pu error boot loader fail-pu then system hangs on unzipping, ive tried a ruu which got my invalid model id error and several different spl's im stuck ive been reading for the last three days and haven't found anything to cure it hoping someone can please help me figure this out if at all possible.
