Wouldnt be easier to just drag them to your SD card?
If its only not heavy weight documents also you can send them to your email account and then download them on your pda
Sadly the Northwood trashcan i use at work doesn't have a card reader , And it still means reams of plugging and unplugging every day im looking for something like FTP or folder sharing for WinMo
buy a 15$ bluetooth dongle and plug it to your work pc.. then you can send whatever you want straight up.
oh.. and you can also set up an ftp connection on your ppc (you'll need to search in the forum to find support for ftp on ppc connection... which i've discussed just recently in the Q&A section).. if your work has wi-fi

you can get freeware ftp servers for your pc, that might get you transfering files, but as the others are saying, not sure its possible.
Yes, so it's not possible to transfers files other wifi without use of TFTP.

oh man i wish you were wrong
i guess the only solution left is by using some kind of a vnc server
though i am not sure on how to use one..
1. Establish adhoc connection between smartphone and laptop. I don't rnow how to do it exactly as I don't have another wi-fi enabled device.
2. Start ftp-server on smartphone. Only in russian http://board.riot.ru/27-smartfony/13312-smartftpserver-ftp-server-dlya-smartfonov.html
3. Acces it via ftp://smartphone's-ip:21
4. Profit
frankly that is pathetic! Microsoft is retarded! My ipaq 1945 could do that!
Sorry for my bad english. I see some posts in another forum where peoples get some dll from pocket pc firmware and put it in windows folder. And in explorer add folder Network Neiborhood. All works correct.

I'm specially interested in this issue. I really would like to make my device discoverable and able to share files with other systems, like other desktops do.
Hi All,
I'm trying to map network drive using the Resco Explorer, however Resco does not see the SAMBA (3.2.5) shares
There is nothing in sambas log suggesting the HD2 is trying to connect.
I had no problems with wm6.1 but on my 6.5.x it doesn't work.
I was searching the forum but couldn't find the answer. Anyone has an idea? Maybe someone managed to solve this?
maybe this?

instead of COMPUTER\DISK, try this: \\COMPUTER\SharedDocs (=name of the shared folder on my pc)
this works with me, good luck!

Yep, I did exactly this the other day.
Resco doesn't see samba shares directly (like a windows PC would see them in my network places or whatever), so you have to tell Resco the location.
I have an ubuntu server called "ubuntu", and my shares are "music", "photos" and so on. To get resco to see the shares I typed:
\\ubuntu\music
\\ubuntu\photos
etc...
Note, it wont work based on IP addresses (that was what originally caused my problem).
To find out your PC name (if you don't know it) on a windows machine, hold the windows key, hit pause break, and then click on computer name (this is for XP).
Cheers.
blog post about this very subject
I got it too sometimes. I dont know the reason tho.
But hey it is so easy to set it up manually.
It is longer but will work anyways. Try the method the guy 2 posts above me posted with \\COMPUTERNAME\SHAREDFOLDER
WIll work if you are in the same network.
Ah and make sure not to connect via mobile network but with WiFi as then you are not in the same net.
Thanks all of you!
It works at least partially...
Works for shares without password, doesn't work for password protected shares. When i put \\computer\myshare and then press ok then I'm asked for user name and password. As soon as I fill them in the application freezes (maybe it tries to connect?) I gave it 5 minutes and then I had to reset HD2
Strange problem
I reinstalled resco but no improvements.
Thanks again
Yeah i noticed that one too.
Do not use pass protection on shares.
It must be a bug in the Resco Explorer.
Before i thought i made a fault but i never tried it out again as i assume a freeze as not too good for the device LOL
I'm not sure where the problem is. I tried the same on P3600 (trinity) with wm6.5. It does not freeze, but is re-asking for credentials, so I guess there are two problems:
1) resco on hd2 freezes (probably when the resco cannot connect - bug)
2) authentication problem?
Probably I'll skip the password protection until someone will find the solution...
Works fine here. It sees the shares on my XP machine, but not on the 2 Win7 ones so I have to enter them manually for those. All 3 have password protection.
On one of the W7 machines it "freezes" for about 10 seconds the first time I access the share after a soft reset, for the others it comes instantly. But that particular volume is huge (a 80% full 1.5TB drive) so it might have to do with it if it lists the contents, the others only have like 30GB on them.
You might want to try menu->settings, if you have data active as well as wifi then uncheck autodetection, and delete the network entry (or entries) that aren't your local wifi.
It can happen that it finds nothing or hangs if it tries searching the cell provider's network (that can have tons of hosts) instead of your local one.

Yes - no problem for windows, I'm struggling with SAMBA (linux) shares.
Fixed freezing/credential issues when mapping drives on my HD2
Hi guys,
I had the same problem of my HTC HD2 freezing in the Network Log On dialogue when trying to map a drive, and also the issue where I was repeatedly asked for credentials which would never save. I managed to solve this issue, though in my case the problem was actually due to the network share settings on my NAS device (which is a QNAP TS-109).
What I did to remedy my problem was:
Go to the Administration page through the web-based interface for my TS-109.
Go to the Access Right Management menu.
Go to the Share Folders section.
Click on the Access Control icon for the folder I wanted to map.
Under the Guest Access Right drop-down menu I changed Deny Access to Read Only.
After that I was able to log in with my admin username and password, and to save the mapped drive on my HTC HD2 (I mapped drives successfully using both Resco File Explorer 2010 and HTC Network Plugin 1.0).
Hopefully this will work for anyone else experiencing this problem with a QNAP NAS, or if not then hopefully following similar steps on your NAS will yield favourable results.
Kate.
I am using HD2 with a Qnap NAS . Initially , got problem mapping drive as described by previous post . I did not do any changes on NAS . But , in the resco password page , i uncheck permanent login . Seems did the trick . Able to mapped folder on the NAS , even Hidden folders also . Hope this helps .

I've post this in Resco Explorer Forum, just yesterday:
Re: File Explorer hangs when mapping Network Drive on WM 6.5
First, excuse me for my bad english (I'm italian).
I think to be solved the bug in this mode (I've a Netgear STORA NAS):
- select "Work" instead of "Internet settings" in wi-fi network adapter
- select "Work" instead of "Internet settings" in your wi-fi connection
Now, I can succesfully map all my shared resources and add them in "My Network", but I can't use wi-fi to connect in Internet.
So I've revert both the above settings to "Internet settings" ad all it's ok, browsing in Internet and accessing to my network folder on NAS.
I think that the bug is present only when we try to map a network folder the first time.
I hope to be useful to solve our problem.
Bye
Although last post is long time ago, and mine is too recent. yet I hope it would be useful to somebody, and be able to repay the great advantages I myself got from XDA forum.
HardwareC with Win7 Home Prem, HTC HD2 with RescoExplorer v.8, Wifi Connection
first, as most of the posts, I can see PC while mapping in RescoExplorer.
yet when expanding the +, I had to enter username and password, then I get an error.
well, what I did is that I shared a folder with everyone full access on my PC.
then on resco mapping I typed the full path, i.e. \\computername\sharedfolder
then, I got it...
NOTE: when exiting Resco, and accessing the mapped folder, I still had to enter my windows username and password to access my PC shared folder that has no password...
Thus, I think when sharing a folder with a password, Resco goes nuts. for two passwords must be applied...
Anyone know of a good remote file transfer app? I have logmein and whatnot, but i'd rather have the option of just dragging and dropping or copy/pasting files from my home pc to my phone without having to use a remote view.

I concur. Pretty much the only use my cable gets is to charge my phone thanks to this
My favorite method is using the PirateBox method as posted here.
NOTE* I am not rooted so there will be know adhoc but once you start it on the phone it gives you an ipaddress:8080 to go to. do that on you computer and youll be golden
For me, I wanted to not only transfer files remotely, but also 'sync' automatically and found this program: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.pcfilesync. I'm using an SMB profile that automatically sync's my shared directory '\users\mywindowsprofile\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Podcasts' every 3600 seconds (1hr). Works well since when I delete the Podcast in iTunes, that deletion is replicated to my Android's '/sdcard/Music/Podcasts' folder. I really like this set and ignore automation.
Thanks for the feedback so far everyone. I found:

Which seems to do justice.
I have dropbox, but i guess i should have explained better. I wanted remote access to all drives / files on my computer at any given point, without a full desktop display.
nice app you found , personally i dont like dropbox myself
does it have to be remote remote or are you just trying to find a way to transfer files without plugging a cable in.
SMB filesharing in the Play shop
with one click the whole of your sd is available on your pc as a shared network drive, and it doesnt dismount the sd card on your phone while its on.
I am curious to know what ways you members here go about doing this: transferring files to and from the phone to the computer and vice versa.
The only way I've discovered right now is to use the SwiFTP Android app which sets up an FTP Server on the phone using your home network, and then I setup a network location in Windows 7 using the provided address from SwiFTP.
You talking wired or wireless?
Wirelessly.
Although I'm open to hearing how everyone else transfers their files. I wanted to basically do it wirelessly to avoid the constant wear and tear of either a) using the usb cable on the phone, or b) removing the microSD card time and time again wearing down the contact points.

Absolutely...Dropbox is the best!
ES File Explorer. You can transfer files directly, manage your SD card, use Bluetooth, FTP servers and even setup your Dropbox. It's quite handy.
Sent to a tower near you using Cleardroid and XDA app.
WiFi File Explorer works really well also.
I like Box. I like their interface a lot better than Dropbox and until 3/23, Android users get 50 GB free for life. They do limit upload size to 100 MB, but for stuff I upload, it's fine.
That said, I use both.
I use WiFi File Explorer if I'm working primarily on my computer and want to send something to my phone. Now that ES File Explorer fixed the SMB password issue, I'll use it if I'm in a different room than my computer and want to grab a file.
Airdroid is rather nice for the limited wireless file stuff I do.
It is also nice for managing contacts OR sending text messages (or getting them) and what not without having to constantly pick up your phone)
Yes it does file management to boot
I connect my device several times every day via USB and have seen no sign of wearing it out. I wouldn't worry about that too much as they are made to last to enable charging.
I use USB transfer quite a bit.
Wirelessly I like Airdroid. I have used WiFi Explorer successfully. Box and Dropbox work very well, too. So, nothing new in my reply but there you go.
Call me old fashioned, but I like using USB and Windows Explorer. I'm pumped to see what you can do over WiFi, once I finally get it
AirDroid. So nice and easy to use
Swiftp quick ftp server setup.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
I use Box.net for continuous use files. For simply moving a file Awesome Drop can't be beat. You install the app and drag and drop the file onto your web browser to transfer it via the net.
Omnia 7 contacts BACK to PC
Hi ;
Trying to find a relative thread .... think this one is close ?? -
1. I am no techno genius ; have aquired an Omnia 7/windows phone only as my daughter told me I should get one !
2. Recently had to reinstall windows on the home PC.
3. I have all my contacts/email address's on my Omnia 7 -
4. Have lost the majority of those email address's from my PC windows live contacts/address's.
5. Have installed both KIES and also ZUNE on my home computer/pc
6. Although I can find a path to send contact list from PC to my phone on KIES,
I can not find a way to do the reverse ?
So ... what is the best/simplest way for me to transfer all the contacts, or particularly their email address's,
from my OMNIA 7 back into my list of Windows live contacts on my PC -
thanks.

This is the forum for the HTC Inspire 4G, an Android phone. You should ask on a Windows forum for your phone.
oforoub way
I used to use SMB (Samba Filesharing) but I switched to airdroid. The best app ever in my opinion as you can not only transfer but send sms, install apps and a lot more. You should give it a try
