G1 Keyboard - G1 Android Development

Hi, just saw attached keyboard on “New Cupcake, Original Frosting - Apps2SD Supported! (5/6/09 - 12:12AM EST)”
I’m currently using JF 1.5, I was wondering is it possible to download this keyboard as I am use to the layout on my WM6.1

found it but Force Closing
If anyone is interested, I found it (click on the link)
http://www.4shared.com/file/100244434/dffd1bc9/key.html
1- Install key.apk
2- Choose setting / locale&text, select Touch Input.
3- Open messaging, long press to text box, choose Input Method then choose Touch Input
4- Enjoy
I’m using JF 1.5 and it keeps on Force Closing so does anyone have any solution?

did you reboot? i would try that

Just installed “htc_cime_hr3_update.zip” and it works fine; however as I don’t need Chinese keyboard, just working KEY.APK would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

seems to work fine for me.

If you manage to get KEY.APK working (not Chinese keyboard), please do share where did you find the instruction and download link plus any other tips you may have?

when I tried key.apk on the JF build it caused an infinte force close loop...required me to work fast between force closes to uninstall touchinput...
there has to be a way as I too prefer key.apk to HTC_CIME.apk though they both work fine for my purposes.

It is possible to use the T9 keyboard with CIME. Open Settings>Locale>TouchInput Chinese>Phone keypad.

I downloaded the apk you gave in this thread and followed the instructions you gave in the thread also. I have recently changed to dudes 1.5 though and that could be why it works?

Phone keypad is what I’m using now. But I’m sure not having Chinese language option will save lots of space/memory.

I too am searching a solution to install the key.apk to the adp 1.5 builds. Mainly for the compact QWERTY.

key.apk on JF 1.5 anyone have working build

Been messing around with key.apk, but nothing but force close on JF 1.5
Anyone have a working method for this key board.
Or do we go with the CIME version, and just don't use Chinese if you're US based.
Thanks a lot.
Hope we can get key.apk working at some point. Anyone with key.apk and JF 1.5 please speak up, hopefully someone's working on a port of it.
I miss the HTC keyboard. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working on JF 1.5?
i think there was a thread called Chinese Input on JFv.5 or something close to it, same forum

just find (or extract) HTC_CIME.apk from any haykuro 5.0H build...
and install it as an apk.

It's not enough to just install the apk. It requires some libraries as well to run.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512530
I'm not sure that the key.apk needs those same libraries. The link in the previous post is for the CHINESE Input. The key.apk does not include Chinese character input.

I'm aware of that. If you read the text i quoted, the poster was referring to HTC_CIME, not key.apk.

Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting

You can now download "Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting" from HTC support site.
Has anybody tried it?
I've just put it on my phone, it's a better supported handwriting recognization, tried it, and i got less letter mistake than before. If you want to texting with your stylus, i think its a recommended upgrade...
It´s not working for me
ROM: 2.16.410.1 (67041) PTG
Radio: 4.49.25.17.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advance.

Same here.
Download it, installation was ok but no option for handwriting on my TD2.
Can somebody make it in CAB format ?
Thanks forward
Regards
i cannot install it i tried it out but it says it is not supported.. can anybody help Me...
same for me it wont install, i think setup check for oficial ROM and with cooked Roms gives the "non suport" error.

Successfully installed to my EnergyROM ;-)

I +1 on this, typing with fingers or stylus is now easier, you do to 99% hit the key you wanted to hit. Very nice hotfix.
Doesn't work for my UDK Rom! "not compatible with your device"
Any idea to solve this problem?
I have a same problem on my ROM
Same here, installed the hotfix, but no new option availible for handwriting.
Could somebody post a screen of the new function?
This is the Problem with Duttys R6 ROM:
Note: AP version control -> The criterion will pass if the Touch Input for Pocket is equal to Version 2.1 (Build1919.1320), or lower.

I successfully installed it on EnergyROM 28014 TOPAZ 15.Dec.2009 StandardM2.5 too but it does not work. Which EnergyROM do you have?
I've installed it on my stock ROM that you can get on htc.com
Didn't notice anything new. What does this hotfix do btw?
After installing I've deleted the .exe file, is that a problem?

If as I think, you are talking about the Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting, it should allow you to add handwriting to permit text input. If you click just to the right of the keyboard input icon, handwriting should be one of the options available to you.

It hasn't worked for me either but I think eveyone sharing their experience here should indicate the ROM that they are using. This may provide some additional insight into where the problem may lie.

Is it wrong to the delete the .exe file after installing it?

htc IME mod vs android 2.1

hey!
im from germany and i dont have android 2.1 (officially) yet. but yesterday i used (http://www.boerse.bz/boerse/softwar...mini-x10-mini-pro-update-auf-2-1-deutsch.html) this method to update my device to 2.1. everything worked fine but after installing the htc ime mod keyboard (used the same installer cause its for >= 1.6) i could check the keyboard that android has to use it but it doesnt work. android does not use the new keyboard...it just uses the typical android keyboard, which i dont like^^.
any ideas to solve this problem?
thanks^^

Chinese input options

Hi there,
Got a Note locally here in Hong Kong and it came preinstalled with ZSKK1. I played around with it a bit and quite liked the DioPen Chinese IME that was built in.
I have since then flashed Sheep ROM, which is considerably smoother. However, I'd like to have the DioPen CIME.
Would it be possible to pull the DioPen apk from system/apps and the .SO file from system/lib from the HK rom and put them in their respective locations in my device? This is how it worked on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Or is there another way to get it on? Otherwise- any suggestions for handwriting Chinese input?
Thanks!

Download the files fm post one. It should helps you out.
Another alternative that I m using is Go keyboard fm Market. It's a good chinese writing input too.
With Go Keyboard, it is much easier to switch between Chinese and English keyboard (which is very tedious with the stock IMEs). However, I feel that the recognition is not as good. There are several words that I have to draw many times before I can get a hit.
Try TouchPal V5 Input which is free from market, work great and so far I found it is the best for both English and Chinese handwriting input.
Hi, I am from Hong Kong too, facing the same probelm.....

I installed the Touchpal keyboard. i found a strange problem. Every night I power off the phone. next morning, when I power it up, the touchPal settings will be lost. everyday I need to re-check the Traditional Chinese check box, or else it will start writing simplified characters. Very annoying.

Swype v3.26.92.38303.0 for Samsung Galaxy Note with ICS and Gingerbread

Mod Edit - sorry guys, but Swype as an independent app is a no-no, XDA was told to not allow these threads. Download has been remove.
Hey Guys!
Here comes the Swype for our Note with ICS.
You can install it as a normal app.
It is not necessary to push this as a system app.
If you have installed older versions of Swype, so please uninstall it first!
Q. OMG my old version of Swype is a system app and what should I do now? Can I uninstall it anyway?
A. Come on, root your phone, make a backup of the app with Titanium Backup and uninstall it e.g. with Titanium Backup!
Q. What languages are included?
A. In the stock app there are only two first! (English and Spanish)
Q. And whats with other languages?
A. Just download and install your language in the options of Swype. Still its possible! (pls look @ the pics)
Q. Oh I've changed my dpi and now?
A. I'm currently on 200dpi and Swype works and looks fine here!
Q. Ooops wait, I'm still on Gingerbread. I have now fallen into a panic?
A. Yes (I have not tried it with Gingerbread, so I'll need your feedback, ThX)
edit:
O.K. Thank you so much for the fast feedback. It works also on Gingerbread!
Time ago, I install it, running correctly!
THX
Hi Chris, been using that version for a couple of weeks now on your version 1.7 (Gingerbread) without any problems
I thank you both.
...hope there is not a thread already with this version?!
I have found nothing.
Greets
does not work on my notes with gingerbread, tips?
thanx alot...
fiat black please...
Thanks for the post. I had been looking for the correct version to fit my note. One was too thin, then too small and this one is just right. Thanks again.
Thanks Chris, works fine with no issues so far...

O.K. it seems there are server issues.
I'll upload my Titanium Backup files for my Swype ver. with all languages.
Hope it works.
ETA: 10min.
O.K. sorry for dp!
1. download and unzip the package with Swype incl. all languages
2. copy the 3 files to your TitaniumBackup folder on sdcard (internal or external)
3. open TB and find Swype to restore
4. restore Swype (app+data)
Let me know if it works!
Works great. Thanks OP.
Is it allowed to freely distribute the Swype APKs? I know they got upset about it in the past.
Server is working again!
Pls try it again to download your language.
I recommend to download all languages.
Pls make a Titanium Backup of Swype after the install of the languages.
If you try another roms you'll have a backup with your languages.
