Been messing around with key.apk, but nothing but force close on JF 1.5
Anyone have a working method for this key board.
Or do we go with the CIME version, and just don't use Chinese if you're US based.
Thanks a lot.
Hope we can get key.apk working at some point. Anyone with key.apk and JF 1.5 please speak up, hopefully someone's working on a port of it.
I miss the HTC keyboard. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working on JF 1.5?
i think there was a thread called Chinese Input on JFv.5 or something close to it, same forum

I just use the cime version. It works pretty well, never had a problem. And it works in the Email app!!
just find (or extract) HTC_CIME.apk from any haykuro 5.0H build...
and install it as an apk.

It's not enough to just install the apk. It requires some libraries as well to run.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512530
I'm not sure that the key.apk needs those same libraries. The link in the previous post is for the CHINESE Input. The key.apk does not include Chinese character input.

I'm aware of that. If you read the text i quoted, the poster was referring to HTC_CIME, not key.apk.

I love all you chefs but I can see who is using what kitchens based off the packages and the outcome of the Rom. Nothing against you guys or the guys who made the kitchens possible. Here is my dilema, I want to make a clean rom. To me a clean rom is one that has the apps I want without extra files, or extra reg keys. To do this I need actual cabs. Anyone know where i can get the actual cabs for such applications as ArcSoft 3.x or 4.x? Maybe even the latest intent MIDlet manager?

here you are
if there is anything missed on mms tell me, because i extracted it as quick as i can
java tested and worked (unless the registries, you have to apply them after flashing the rom, otherwise you can edit default.hv)
oh oh many wait for them, ok if you use them don't forget to write extracter name
NTS, there are no factory cabs for MMS, camera, etc. HTC jumbled the packages up so that the DRM registry settings are in the camera package and the streaming media registry settings are in the MMS package. Getting rid of extra reg. entries is a pain, but it's best done by analyzing the OEM packages and removing them. Also, installing these apps as cabs would eat up so much storage memory, it's really impractical to install them as such. Hence, the kitchen craze.

Hi NTS
I Honestly admire your work and here is some info you requested. I took this MMS 4.0 out of trinity rom and without making any change I just copied these two folder in SYS folder during rom cooking using pandora ROM Kitchen. .....And results were superb......and now we got working MMS 4.0 in 5.2.318 and 5.2.1413.

if you tried, did you open mms confg.??
See, you all use kitchens, but im old school. nothing like hardwork to make it right. So, I use my own tools. Thats why I want just the needed files. I have what I like to call the perfect rom, but MMS was the issue. Now with these Java and MMS will correct the issues I have been having. Thanks.

just dumping everything into windows, I suppose. I'm curious if there's any file size / overall space savings / or performance gain using this vs what's already in the kitchen. (I'm not on my lt so I can't see my schtuff)

Cool. I like to try and keep all of the latest fixes and patches in one place and publically available. It's a pain in the arse to do, but I'd like to think it's helping the big picture...
Ok, the only issue i have with 4.x version of mms is that it replaces the Text Messages box and merges sms and mms into one folder. then you have to select new and select either sms or mms. Any way to fix this? Also, when you choose the option to try and setup the mms server it does not come up unless you are in a blank mms. hmm, more fun configs to figure out.

Hi, just saw attached keyboard on “New Cupcake, Original Frosting - Apps2SD Supported! (5/6/09 - 12:12AM EST)”
I’m currently using JF 1.5, I was wondering is it possible to download this keyboard as I am use to the layout on my WM6.1
found it but Force Closing
If anyone is interested, I found it (click on the link)
http://www.4shared.com/file/100244434/dffd1bc9/key.html
1- Install key.apk
2- Choose setting / locale&text, select Touch Input.
3- Open messaging, long press to text box, choose Input Method then choose Touch Input
4- Enjoy
I’m using JF 1.5 and it keeps on Force Closing so does anyone have any solution?
did you reboot? i would try that

If you manage to get KEY.APK working (not Chinese keyboard), please do share where did you find the instruction and download link plus any other tips you may have?
when I tried key.apk on the JF build it caused an infinte force close loop...required me to work fast between force closes to uninstall touchinput...
there has to be a way as I too prefer key.apk to HTC_CIME.apk though they both work fine for my purposes.

About 4MB.
I too am searching a solution to install the key.apk to the adp 1.5 builds. Mainly for the compact QWERTY.
Ever since Hero was released there was one app that I absolutely loved, The music player. Since that time I have been trying to port it over to a regular build such as JF1.5, however, I knew I would have to wait for JF to finish his greatest and latest project.
I am happy to say that none of this would have been possible without JF's new tool, which can disassemble and reassemble dex files.
With JF new tool, which can be found Here I was able to disassemble everything and put it back together HtcMusic ready...
So, the end result is that HtcMusic is now working on JF1.5adp
While this is a first step I will be working on the music widget next and then other Htc apps to follow.
For those that follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Stericson
You got to try it out first and will always get to try my releases first as a beta version. Thanks for the support.
Now, moving on to the good stuff...This is an old fashion update for JF1.51 adp, just put it on your sdcard and update it as normal.
Known issues:
Yes its slow to open, give it time, be patient.
You might have to wipe if you have acore force close errors.
Force closes if you open the keyboard while screen is off and music up is up. (Unresolved)
Be on the lookout for more bugs.
For advanced and brave users
If you want this working on cyanogens or dudes build, this is how it must be done for now.
If you want to push the files needed for this on your own then this is for you. However, I do not offer any support for other builds at this time, if it doesnt work on other builds I will try to help in my free time but cannot gaurantee direct and immediate assistance.
Here are the names of the files and where they go:
/system/framework
framework.jar
com.htc.framework.jar
com.htc.resources.apk
com.htc.android.easopen.jar
com.htc.android.pimlib.jar
/system/etc/permissions
com.htc.framework.xml
/system/app
HtcMusic.apk
You do all of this at your own risk and as always I assume no liability if you damage your phone by applying this update or by pushing these files.
The update below will move all of the needed files to your phone...No more full JF update, although it still uses JF's framework that I modified.
Here's the update for JF1.51: www.FightForthePits.com/Androidstuff/update.zip
Beagz is now making the updates for this to continue to work with cyanogens newest builds, hats off to him.
Look at the end of this thread for links to the latest verisons....

** just one thing it got rid of my hero theme :[
I had to reinstall the theme.. and everything works fine now :]
I wish HTC wouldn't have polluted the core framework with their stuff. I don't want to replace framework.jar with theirs
You can now download "Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting" from HTC support site.
Has anybody tried it?
I've just put it on my phone, it's a better supported handwriting recognization, tried it, and i got less letter mistake than before. If you want to texting with your stylus, i think its a recommended upgrade...
It´s not working for me
ROM: 2.16.410.1 (67041) PTG
Radio: 4.49.25.17.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advance.

Same here.
Download it, installation was ok but no option for handwriting on my TD2.
Can somebody make it in CAB format ?
Thanks forward

same for me it wont install, i think setup check for oficial ROM and with cooked Roms gives the "non suport" error.
At the moment i use |NOV 28||Duttys Sense 2.5 H-Grail R6||5.2.21882

I +1 on this, typing with fingers or stylus is now easier, you do to 99% hit the key you wanted to hit. Very nice hotfix.
Doesn't work for my UDK Rom! "not compatible with your device"
Any idea to solve this problem?
I have a same problem on my ROM
Same here, installed the hotfix, but no new option availible for handwriting.
Could somebody post a screen of the new function?

I've installed it on my stock ROM that you can get on htc.com
Didn't notice anything new. What does this hotfix do btw?
After installing I've deleted the .exe file, is that a problem?

If as I think, you are talking about the Update for HTC Touch Diamond2 Handwriting, it should allow you to add handwriting to permit text input. If you click just to the right of the keyboard input icon, handwriting should be one of the options available to you.

If you are a tester, just download the installer and run. This works on cm7 but is untested on cm6.
