Flash Player (Updated) - G1 Android Development

I have a T-mobile G1 With JF 1.5 And Apps on SD and linux Debian installed (none desktop one), I Want to know if threes a working flash player I could download/install? I want to be able to go on websites and watch videos that use flash.

to answer your questions in order:
1)Sure its possible to have an android. You make one like in all the sci-fi books. I like paranoid androids myself.
2)IF !(my G1) == 0 THEN return TRUE
3)You have to get the flux capacitor and dial in your dilithium crystals to the appropriate oscillation overthruster frequency.

cruel one wergeld
I think he meant if there is a flash player for his already 'created' G1
Still no support for Flash so far tanner2007
-Gus

for a player that plays FLV files there is a Flash player on the market called "Flash Player". As for flash for web browsing ADOBE is working on it.

Holy redundancy, Batman! Heh, just kidding, but no there aren't any web ones that work currently and there's no definite release schedule for adobe or bsquare's implementation, you'll just have to be patient like the rest of us

the word you're looking for is actually Phyllo. Filo is a bastardization of the real word. as for the flash player, there was actually a video some months back of an adobe rep with a working flash player on a dev phone and adobe had made an official announcement at the time that flash would be coming to android. as for when, who knows. i'm thinking Donut (android 2.0) which is scheduled for later on this year.

I saw we just enjoy our cupcake, and think donuts later

i dont think so
I want it all.
That's like flashing warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream in front a dude that's been in the desert for weeks.
Just can't do that.
Hey all her is cupcake...wait for it...wait for it...now here.
Ok and here is the Donut........drool for it!

Too true. But I do look forward to the day when I find the perfect ROM, even if I do actually have to start entering my serial numbers again.
Currently DCS1.5 (slightly modified to my taste) has been untouched on my device for just over a week, which is already some sort of world record.
I'm just looking forward to Firefox Mobile. But it's only supposed to be released soon after Firefox 3 for desktop, so still a bit of time to go...

Where did Johan come from!? This DCS 1.5 is quite the rom. I myself made small mods to it and have been running it since 1.3 and don't want to get rid of it. I'm almost hoping that duttys wont be as good but I will have to re flash when Duttys new rom come out. I would say it is the most fast and stable rom out right now.

Last time I checked, Flash video had the BEST compression/quality rates of all video codecs (!)
So why are also android guys falling for that steve crap?

lol but you don't get it if h264 can play without flash on a phone then why not slim it down and just get rid of the flash lol much easier then the companies getting permission etc. Not completely sure but it may mean phones coming out quicker cause they ain't gotta ask permission one good reasons is h264 gives developers more options doubt they will kill of flash though cause it's a platform and h264 is just a codec same with html5 lol this debate may last a long!!!! time so forget about it lol but if h264 is used we can use the html5 as the platform for websites and youtube is basically what apple are saying lol

why should companies offer lots of versions for every page if they can just include it in an flash app that plays on every os avaliable, no matter what player the system has- as long as it supports flash?

A competiting system, named html5 can't be bad for the end user aka me, but I would not say its better just because its open everything.

Nope... Google chrome has just started including flash natively...
also google android will include flash in future versions...
still google supports html5... but they are not that closed minded...

that reminds me... the best parts of the android os are closed source...
drivers, senseUI, market, maps, google sync, most of the apps out there...
stupid linux guys with this sourcecode attitude...
why should a company put hundreds of hours into developing something when anybody can rip it off as soon as they release it?
heck, they are in it... that's right... FOR THE MONEY!
so why not supporting adobe for example?
fairly enough, flash cs5 is not that cheap or anything... but it's an awsome piece of software and companies can earn a lot of money thanks to the appealing CROSS BROWSER, CROSS OS, webpages/ flash contents /games/ whatever they can build with it...

I remind you that Adobe is embracing HTML5 and that Flash is a complement to HTML. The resurrection of development around the HTML standard is good, and Adobe is committed to support it in their new tools, although the productivity and the expressiveness of the Flash Platform remain huge advantages for the Web community.

I'm not sure if this news has reached XDA yet. I'm excited, but I know the G1 will never get any of the 2.0/2.1 updates officially, so I will have to wait until the 2.2 update is ported and at least has a working camera, blue tooth, etc. *Deep sigh* Hopefully, by the time these devices come out, I will have the Droid Incredible unlocked...

apple likes html5 because it uses one of their patents...
for normal webpages, html5 is better. Nobody doubts that. Even for videos in webpages it may become standart quite soon. but anything with a lot of animations, cool transitions, maybe even games, are just... well... harder to do in an texteditor than on a full featured development platform whatsoever
Yeah dreamviewer is gonna support html5, so yeah also full featured whatsoever... but it's just not the same I guess... well we'll see.
And my next phone willl support html5 AND flash, so I couldn't care less what, if any, succeeds...

Flash Player update 3

Flash Player just updated.
Another step closer to Froyo.
And the build unit for this player "happens to be"...
10.1.72.7
I'm willing to speculate that 72.7 is a reference build towards FRF72-77.

Yup, I'm downloading it now too.
Okay, the first thing I did was to check if the new flash can play some flash games (restaurant city) and it can!!!

Just went on kongregate. Seems to be much smoother than the initial release for sure. And also faster, might be placebo though on the faster. But definitely smoother.
Anyone tried hulu?
PS EDIT: Oops. Guess hulu still not working. Bet they don't like us. Lol.
I didn't like the jerky scrolling and pinch to zoom i got from the previous releases. This one is making these things a lot better. Definitely getting closer to a final release. The video playback is better but i sill can't hit the buttons for full screen and volume, even when i'm zoomed in a lot.
A step in the right direction, but these steps seem to be too small. We still don't know if the new beta uses hardware acceleration or not.
UPDATE: I also noticed that the flash element only loads when you are watching that part of the website which is a good thing because it helps the general navigation. Maybe this is why i feel like i can scroll better.
UPDATE 2: Switching from portrait to landscape while watching a flash video is seamless now. This is what i'm talking about! +1 for Adobe!
anyone got a direct link for us droid 2.2 users?

Seems kinda like a waste of effort. The 2.2 AOSP just came out and we've already got 2 roms that work, albeit very early and limited ones.
It's only a matter of time before a proper 2.2 rom comes out and developers with talent should focus on getting 2.2 out there rather than trying to optimize 2.1 to run flash
would a attempt for this on dount be possible? the speed on that with out old g1's with flash would be great
At this point, it's definitely easier to just port Froyo. And that's already in progress anyway.
Sent from my Nexus One
Try the skyfire browser. It loads up flash videos and tranlates it to something our g1's can read. As far as I understand it, the flash player on the nexus has tons of hardware specific stuff that stop it from working on other builds (processor, screen size, etc). Besides, skyfire loads up futurama episodes perfectly=p

That's Great.
You're not going to make flash 10 work on an arm7 device because it's compiled for arm8.
What you could try is pulling the flashlite plugin from a hero build (made for msm7k) and try to get it plugged to the new browser, since it accepts plugins.
There's coding required, though, and I've no idea about browser plugins.
I don't think this is a good idea for a number of reasons. Processing power, lack of ram, lack of storage space, small screen, etc...

Yes, I completely agree. If you simply want flash so much just buy the damn phone, you have to take in consideration what our devices are capable of. You can only push it to some point, until it goes poof. Just please, enough with the whole flash topic it's giving me a headache.
I used the flash 10 port for the evo. On kings legend. .. worked...ish. got a Facebook game to load and videos
But it was horribly slow.

Sounds great for the possibility of porting flash 10 to g1 theoretically... thought this wasnt possible. Could you go to http://www.whatismyflash.com/ with the browser to check if its using the flash 10 and not the flash lite built in in kings legend2g1 rom? :> thanks in advance
Anyone else get the impression that the OP has no idea about the technical roadblocks involved in this?

I've always wondered, are half of you stuck in some black hole with no PCs with nothing to do but watch videos all day? If you want your phone to be a laptop... go buy a damn laptop! You can get a very nice one for the same price as a Nexus One. Sheesh.
Don't start a "think-tank" thread if you, the OP, aren't going to do any thinking to begin with.

I dont think it is possible with 2.1 .....but g1 can handle 2.2 and might be able to handle flash too
