Hello,
Is it advisable to rerun hard-sl-v7- and ATT_lite before every change of the rom (att 8525).
First timer with a smartphone (or whatever it is), just picked up the thing and played with one cooked rom and would like to try others before I start loading it up with my own junk.
Regards, PK
Hi, you only have to flash hardspl once! then you can flash as many cooked roms as u like...
You don't have to flash the at&t official before every cooked rom. Unless u start having a lot of HR from a cooked rom, then the official rom will straighten the device out. See the Hermes forum section for more info & fun
Thanks Galaxys, great, I get it, straight forward enough.
Have a good weekend.

I agree. It is time to upgrade my friend... There are so many roms out there that are almost 100% stable with everything working and not all of them include all of the extra crap either... If you wanted to keep the same general look going on and not the touchflo if thats what you're trying to avoid, then look into some of the professional roms instead of the touch roms.
A good example is TNT5.0 Professional. It has all the amendaties of WM5 but also supports all of the WM6 software.
...Thats my opinion anyway
I have
I've updated to WM6 many times with multiple roms, but they tend to lag in performance. Though one rom looks promicing is this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331812
BUT! It's a Hermes rom and I have no Idea how to flash that onto a wizard. So instead of risking my Wizard to brick, I was hoping someone could possibly patch those cabs for WM5.
If anyone is looking for a little project, please patch those cabs on the first post.
Thank you
i use TNE with over clocking, with no problems. just as fast as wm5 if not faster.
touch no evil.
and dont flash a wm6 rom that wasnt built for the wizard.

give this rom a try. It was originally made by its right but I personally modified it to have a larger page pool and is quite fast.
It is a touchflo rom though... Not sure how fond you are of those style roms...

???????????
Well does anyone just have the base WM6 rom that I can flash? Nothing custom, just the standard, factory WM6 rom? Cuz that would be the only way I would be willing to upgrade. If not then I just want the cabs to work on WM5.

Well there is TNT Official... It's the closest to an actual OFFICIAL Wizard WM6 rom as you are going to get...
Install that(it is CLEAN, nothing on it really) and you can install anything you want if you're not interested in a custom rom.
You could also give this a once over...
*Updated 9/27/07 8:30am* BETA TESTERS NEEDED! The Real Official WM6 OS
Hello,
I have recently bought a AT&T Tilt, and would like to flash to the current Offcial HTC WM 6.1 ROM.
I have done alot of reading in the wiki here and various FAQ threads and what not. But i am still a bit confused with a few things.
I have read the ROM Flashing faq and Intro here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356895
And i understand all that.
I also undestand that i need the Key board fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334911
But thats not hard.
I went here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
I checked my device and the rom currently on it is the AT&T WM6.0 1.57.502.2 Original Shiped Rom.
I figured, being in Australia, i would need rom that had WWE as the country? So i downloaded the "RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship" rom. Is this an appropriete ROM for what i want?
BUT Its all this stuff about SPL's and what not that is confusing me.
My Tilt is SIM unlocked because i am using it on the Telstra network here in Australia. But im not sure if i have to change SPL's or not and if so, which spl i need and how to change it?
It would be greatly appreciated if someone was able to help me understand this SPL bussiness, because i really dont want to dive straight in a risk my device. I have done a fair bit of reading and i'm a fairly competent computer user so it won't take me long to learn.
Thanks in advance,
eMiller
you have to CID unlock it. this involves flashing the device with HardSPL then running a unlocker program. (this is what i know from Hermes, so i don't know if it is exactly the same on Tilt). It breaks the warranty though, so think first, then jump
by the way, you should try a cooked rom. in my experience, HTC roms are not that good, except for getting a stable radio. get the radio, then get a new OS rom, like hang.tuah or something.

Try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
Look for the Zip file at the very bottom of the screen this hard spl will let you flash any rom (follow the instructions the spl gives you exactly and dont get nervous if it appears stiuck for a bit), just make sure you know which ROM you really want to flash at the end
.
Again same stuff.
Guys, when you gonna learn to read everything which is realted to your device when you want to do something?
Everything is in Wiki, everything you need is posted in ROM threads.
Come on GUYS!
read the f**** wiki. you need hardspl. its not that hard to figure out if your not an imbisel
@joel2009: That is a little harsh. Also, if you're going to call someone an imbecile, you should probably spell it right.
@eMiller12 (fellow noob): I don't know if I would bother with the HTC ROM, I just flashed it and I am finding a few really annoying bugs... Read Jocky's STICKY post about the HardSPLs to learn how to flash one. It really is quite simple--and it's unlikely that you're going to brick your device, so no worries.
Hey FireMedic, thanks for understanding.
I have read through the Wiki a fair bit, i was just unsure which versions of hardSPL etc where best for the [email protected] Tilt inparicular. But i will just use this one that vorostatz recomended if that is the best one for the tilt.

We are not all senior members. I can fully understand the guys wish not to turn his expensive device into a paperweight. Ease up eh?
search forums using google (at top right)
yeah, exactly... I was pretty scared to hardspl when I first started.
Hardspl 3.29 seems to be the best one, check my signature after you've read the hardspl sticky.
From what I understand, a rom flash might try to write a different spl which is obviously bad. hardspl prevents this.
If you ever need to, you can undo it. Kyphur explains in the hardspl sticky how to change them, by running a program named jumpspl 1.56 (on your device) with your sim and sd cards out and then flashing the spl normally.
Just make sure you follow directions for your device and try different roms.
Good luck and feel free to ask questions, even if some of the people here have heard them way too often.

Actually the WWE (World Wide English) one seems to be used more in Europe and this side of the world. For down-under, they use SEA South East Asia versions. There are issues with ROM compatibility in Australia specifically (at least in the WM 6.0 days) so if you want to know the best official WM 6.0 and 6.1 ROMs, short of searching for what setups Australian xda-dev forum members are using, you could look at the devices on sale in the shops. If you're wanting WM 6.1 just to have the latest and greatest, think again and have a look at the Windows Mobile 6 vs. Windows Mobile 6.1 thread.
***Edit*** Also note that there are two Australian specific ROMs in the WM 6.0 section of the Kaiser HTC ROM wiki
I followed the instructions Kaiser ROM Kitchen Tutorial in the wiki.
Cooked a few ROMs, flashed it couple of times. Tried making own packages.
Now while experimenting I tried some more recent ROMs and fetched the most recent (Kaiser_HTC_ASIA_HK_WWE_3.34.721.2) of the HTC Kaiser ROM from the wiki.
While screwing around with it, I couldn't help noticing that if I flash the ROM I cooked it always shows an old version of WM. Now it shows WM6 but I am sure I flashed WM6.1 . Did I do something wrong while cooking? Is this just the version shown or is it really an old version? I do not have a clue.
bone
BTW: First post. Hi guys. Thanks for everything until now.

I would start with cooking by dumping and cooking off this base dude.
I wonder if you are making some simple mistake like flashing the wrong image , have the wrong file in the Base ROM or maybe having a WM6 rom dumped in the kitchen.
To be sure...
Clear out your kitchen so you only have the tools needed. Then put the 3.34 in the Base ROM and dump it. Add an OEM package (a simple non HTC app i.e. S2U2), cook and flash and see what happens
Ta
Dave
k, I'll give it a try.
thanks
edit: Seems like reusing a kitchen isn't such a good idea. I think this just cleared up. Thanks guys.
hi all
well where do i start i've got 3.29hspl and what ever rom (and i've tried a few) i put on my phone it seems to be ok for a day or 2 and then it all goes wrong everything from screen freeze, sound probs and crash.
then it won't boot just keeps going through boot cycle sometimes it just freezes on the splash screen then all of a sudden it'll boot it's all just v random
I've seen that behavior on the Hermes. I know it's a pain in the rear but you should flash the stock WM6.1 ROM before you flash a ROM from here. And make sure you flash a compatible radio BEFORE flashing a ROM from here. The steps I follow are:
HardSPL 3.29 (only have to do this once for the Kaiser)
flash stock ROM
flash radio (I use 1.70.18.02)
flash ROM
Just a note,
You should specify which roms you used so this way we can narrow it down to the specific problem you're having. If you're using 6.1 roms, you should post the problems in the specific rom thread; same if you're using 6.5 roms. There are many issues and bugs that the wonderful cooks are fixing in their respected time. No rom is perfect, but the majority of them are stable and there are plenty of knowledgeable people in this forum that will be happy to help you as well as information posted.
Mod please close this thread!!!
aye sorry never thought o doing that. i'm using the v20 diamond rom at the moment i think it is a wm6.1
after reading one or 2 threads on freezing i upgraded to cmonex's 3.29hard 2 spl i'll try if for a few days to see if it works.
the funny thing is i have a spare back up kaiser and it runs the v10 diamond using 3.28hardspl it came that way and it works fine
just a quick note you lot ROCK i think this is the friendliest forum ever
well i've tried reflashing with diamon rom, htc stock rom and a few others and still getting some probs is there such a thing as a hardware diagnostic program something like sisoft sanrda i'm wondering if it is a hardware issue
What kind of phone are you using?
diamond?
This is the Kaiser, Tytn II forum.
Just out of the blur, could it be you ve mistaken the diamond with this one.
If you want diamond forum, here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=428
sorry it's the ultimate v19 and v20 ma bad
NO no, i'm not asking what kind of rom are you using, i'm asking what kind of phone do you have? I mean do you have a Diamond, a Kaiser or a Tytn, A T-mobile Wing?
soz it's a tytn ii using spl3.29hard2 and ultimate x.v2 rom at the moment seems stable
but i'm still wondering if there is such a thing as sisoft sandra for pda
Hi folks - I have just got an XDA Exec which is presently running WM5 with all the O2 (UK) firmware and apps loaded
I want to upgrade and have been trawling the posts here for clues to the latest/best ROM to use - WM6.1 or WM6.5
And.. I'm confused - too many posts and too many ROM versions..
The one that seems to stand out is Tomal's ROMs but again - which is best?
Also, how do I install the ROM? (I will re-read the forum in case I missed it!)
My head's like mush (not surprising with having a hyperactive 2 year old to contend with as well!! )
Good Rom
Hi There
It is difficult to say which is the best ROM as they all meet different needs for different users, but if you want a fast, stable and all round good ROM, then go for TOMAL's 8.2.
I have flashed many roms but always seem to come back to this one.
I mean no disrespect to the other great chefs it's just my personal opinion and long may thier excellent work continue.
To learn about flashing go to the Universal WIKI page and have a deep read, you can find it at the top of the Universal page.
And just to say congrats on choosing a decent phone
Thanks Dixiesmu, I'll take a look at the wiki page and search for Tomal's 8.2 ROM...
You can try also VNint WM6.1 rom, it's fast and stable
Thanks Win_XP..
Trying to download the Vista USB Driver (Running Win7) but stupid Rapidshare wont let me :~(
There is no such "best ROM"
What is best for me could be not for you
Try several till you get your personal best and let us know!
