OK, we all know the problem with radio 1.65.17.10... DO NOT FLASH IT, IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE RADIOS!!!
I actually found a major benefit (for me) to use it.
I had been experiencing problems with ATT here in California, where my data connection would just stop working, despite showing it being connected. The fix would be easy, just disconnect the data session and reconnect and it would be fine again for awhile (anywhere from an hour to a day). The problem for me is that I use direct-push email for work, when the data connection would fail, there was no warning of a problem. Emails would go missing until I checked Activesync, noticed the failure, and reinitiated the data connection. Very annoying, and easy to miss important messages...
So after troubleshooting with ATT, to no avail, and numberous trys with various radios and ROMs here on XDA, I decided to try it.
My issue has been gone for 4 days now. It is possible that Dutty's new Hybrid v2 helped, but all of his previous ROMs had the problem. So, it was either the new radio, or the new ROM.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS RADIO, YOU CAN'T REMOVE IT CURRENTLY!!!! (but it worked well for me)

Just be sure that you're kaiser is "security unlockt" before installing 1.65.17.10, then there is no problem to change to another radio.

Com'on guys. This is a PUBLIC forum. As long as he follow the rules, and I think he is fine. lately I have see so many "police" wants ppl to follow he or her rules.
I understand how difficult to read the same post again and again.
His topic might not interest you, but here I am. I like to know what are the benefits from previous user.
Please do not judge people by your standard.
BTW, what I do not like to see is: "good job", "you the best", "Dutty, you did it again"...etc all the good words. That is what I call a waste of my time. But you see hundreds of posts like that. This is just an example. What I like to see is the "pro" and "con", so I can narrow down the actual benfit of flash to a new ROM. I have never see anyone here saying anthing about this. Everytime when a new ROM update, I probably have to read more than 50% on good words. Tell me about that!!

I'm doing everything you say but it shows me the three color screen without say "security unlocked" . What else can I do to unlock it?
Thank you
Being a chef, putting out a special rom for the public takes a great deal of time. They need the certain feedback from users on the rom. The first few posts are cluttered with the good jobs and great rom, but this is the thing to thank the chefs for their time and efforts.
As for this thread, I know its dug up in there, but people have stated the benefits in the 1.65.17.10 radio thread. The Kaiser ROM development forum is really cluttered with a lot of threads so having these redundent threads just makes the development forum more cluttered.

Motorcross,
Tq for yourfeedback. I face the same problem with what u had but mine is more serious!!! My EDGE connection (I am in Malaysia using DiGi) lasts only minutes. 50% of the time a reconnections do not get my connection back and the wait for the disconnection of "E" takes 2-3minutes too. So far as you had mention, all the ROMs and RADIOs i have tried did not solve this issue and no one here had any clue to this. I am really TEMPTED to test this radio from HELL but am worried I may get more hell should it not solve my problem.. Appreciate your input here

Feedback is far better thanks than just "thanks." If people are saying thanks, then they are probably using the ROM, and if they're using the ROM they should have something to say about it. Even if it's just a few things they like.

I have asked this in the Dutty's ROM section but no answer - so let me try here. I was wondering if this radio would solve a big problem I have had ever since I switched to Dutty's ROM. In HSDPA mode I have lost the feature of simultaneous data and voice. Before I flashed over from the AT&T stock ROM I was able to stream from my Slingbox or Sirius Radio applications and, when I got a phone call, the phone would ring and I could make the call. Post call, the data session would still be active.
With all the Dutty ROMs I have tried once the call comes in - or is placed - the data session ends. BTW - If I switch my SIM over to my Blackjack the simultaneous data/voice feature returns - the BJ has a cooked WM 6.1 ROM also.
Have you found that this radio resolves those issues??

Well, I wish I could provide you some good advice on that one, but your problem is quite different than mine. Have you tried changing the GPRS authendication menthod? PAP vs CHAP?
Odd - I have tried a bunch of the Kaiser, Sena and Niki radios with the same issues. Once I go back to the stock AT&T ROM all is well. Definitely not worth running the AT&T ROM for the feature; I may try one of the Non-Dutty ROMs just for a test.
First of all thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me.
A while back I installed Alex.v52.ATT.162.Cube.ROM located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363865 and all was working as expected. I decided to install Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2_1_64.08.21_CubeV2_ ROM located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388947 but upon completion all I got was the boot screen. Rebooting did not help so I reinstalled the Alex rom. Upon completion of the installation process of the Alex rom, the phone tried to reboot but nothing happened. It just stayed off. I tried to hard reset and nothing. When connecting to the computer and the power adapter, the charging light does not come on. I tried to change the battery and nothing helps. At this point I am out of things to try so I am posting in hopes someone has had this issue and was able to recover the phone.
Please note that I created a separate thread for this since the Alex rom thread was discontinue and Dutty is no longer supporting the Kaiser.
Thanks!!!!
[edit] sorry, my advice wount deffently not help you here. Just saw that I adviced on another issue.
Did you at all revert from HardSPL? b/c i assume you had it at one time since you flashed alex's rom earlier.

zeezee: The phone had HardSPL v1 and I did not do anything to update or change it.
One thing I did notice when I removed the battery and used a friend's phone to test if it was working was that it was at 40% and I know that when installing a ROM it calls for the battery to over over 50%. Could this have caused the issue. I did charge it to 100% afterwards and put it back on the phone with no success.

Unplug the device, remove the battery, take a nap (longer the better), replace the battery, then try powering it again, i had the same thing happen to me when i tried to cooking a ROM, scared the crap out of me. Thought i bricked my phone. but it came back to life after the cycle. You have to make sure that all the juice is gone from the unit, just changing the battery may not have enough time to discharge it, also make sure that the sim door is close and there is no SD card installed, after i got it to turn on i had to flash my device with a SD card cause the USB didn't work.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck
No luck!
Thanks everyone for your input but none of the suggestions worked. I guess next step is to put it up on ebay for parts

Try This
Holding the 2 soft keys and pressing the reset button. If not that try holding the camera button and pressing the reset button.
Happened to me too last night. Similar anyway. I was using skype and charging my phone from the charger then it just stopped charging. I soft reset and it still didn't work. Hard reset and that didn't work. The USB port is dead. I'm going to try flashing from the SD card. Maybe that will flash I'm sure but we'll see if it fixes my problem.
Hey wonderful community!
I am having some serious problems with my GPS. Everything was good until I flashed Android Revolution 3.2 from Android Revo 1.6. Luckily I had a backup so I flashed back to that through clockwork and all was well for a while. Then I got curious about LeeDroid so I flashed that and seemed good but the other night, after confirming a GPS lock the first night I flashed it, couldn't get a signal. I haven't flashed anything since my GPS was working but I still thought it had to be software related. So I flashed my backup expecting it to work just like it did before, but I got nothing. I get AGPS but no actual sats. Even if I leave GPS test open for an hour it never even sees even one satelite, let alone using any. This is on the same rom, same kernel, **** the same backup. So I flashed a few roms, and even did a full factory reset and have had no luck. I searched a couple threads looking for solutions but everything I have tried has not helped at all. Just so you know what I have tried that hasn't worked is as follows: the GPS.zip file thread extracted and pasted into system/xx/xx/hw, reinstalling locations, clearing map data, and installing faster fix.
I know this was a lot to read but I try to help anyone as much as I can and would really appreciate some help on this. LETS PAY IT FORWARD PEOPLE LOL.
Thanks in Advance.
EDIT: Ok so still don't know what the culprit was but with a lot of help from Kirk I redid step 5 from the Hack Kit, which flashes the stock radio, and WOOT WOOT! GPS back to it's mean self.
You need to re-flash the radio. You can flash it using HBOOT.
Try stock rooted and faster fix from the market.

1. Download this file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BX5GV1CJ
2. Place the PD98IMG.zip radio file on the root of your SD card.
3. Power the phone off, remove and reinsert the battery.
4. Hold the volume button down and press power on.
5. The phone will boot into Hboot then Bootloader, It should see the PD98IMG.zip and ask if you want to apply the zip.
6. Use the volume up button to select "yes"
7. Once its done flashing, reboot the phone and you should have flashed the radio.
8. Finally, turn on GPS and run google maps and you should see the GPS icon start to flash.

Same issue as laxwillsch...
I am running 3.3 as of 2 hours ago - only issue was GPS. Performance is phenomenal on 3.3. I ran through your instructions. In step 6, mine quickly flashed up the screen that says it couldn't find any files to update, then returned to the HBOOT screen. There was nothing apparently for me to do, so I simply rebooted the device.
Guess what? GPS now works. I am certain the update didn't happen but something did! When I launched Google Maps, I immediately saw the satellite icon. I haven't seen that in awhile... Not waiting on Google Maps, I launched Compass (I like that app) and it locked 7 satellites in a fraction of a second. I returned to Google Maps and it works flawlessly.
My Radio version is 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M.
My speed test performance floats between 3.8 - 2.1 Mbps down and 1656 - 1200 Mbps up...
Thanks again!

Ok did it and it didnt find a radio to flash. I think this is because it is supposed to be renamed to PD98IMG.zip but I could be wrong. I will try that but I don't know if this will help because I actually already get the flashing GPS indicator it just fails to see any sats. Like absolutely none. Even if I keep GPS test up for an hour. It doesn't do anything. I dont understand this because I don't see anyone with the same problem. I think I am just going to exchange it tomorrow because I have a feeling something happened hardware wise because I didn't even flash anything to make this happen. The GPS worked one day and the next it didnt. And I didnt change anything, no themes, no roms, no nothing.

You need to rename the file as stated in my previous reply. Try that before you give up.
If you decide to exchange the phone, make sure you are within the 30 days when you bought it, and also s-off needs to be s-on and then install the stock ROM that came with the phone. Otherwise they will see you tinkered with the phone and altering your phone like that voids the warranty.
EDIT: Are you outside when you are looking for a GPS signal? The phone needs to be outdoors to grab a GPS signal. From what you said about leaving it on for an hour to look for GPS signal, sounds like you are indoors cause I wouldn't wanna stay outside for an hour in cold weather just to look for a GPS signal.

I tried it the way you posted with no avail. Then I just renamed it PD98IMG.zip and it updated this time but still no change. And yes I have been outside and on my deck, both places where I got perfect GPS signal a couple days ago. I really think it is something weird, because I have done everything I could think of software related with no change. I have probably flashed 5-6 roms and it is the same with all of them. I got excited when you suggested the radio but after it not changing anything I got to thinking that I never flashed a radio, I don't even have ENG-S-OFF so it wouldnt really make sense that it is radio related. I am open to more suggestions but I have tried everything I have learned about android in the last year with no avail. My next step is flashing the stock RUU and seeing if that fixes it and if not just taking it back to radio shack. I am over my 30 days but they said they can replace after 30 if the device is defective and I have a screen issue where if I press lightly on the search button it makes a clicking noise and plurs the corner of the LCD. Plus I am getting AGPS but literally my actual GPS is like totally borked. Not seeing any satelites at all, before even inside I would see like 7-9. Something is seriously wrong and I don't even know where to start.

And yes I have been outside and on my deck, both places where I got perfect GPS signal a couple days ago. That would be my next suggestion, to flash the stock untouched ROM. Hopefully that makes it work and then you can go from there. Either way, you need to install the stock ROM before you return it.
Also, did the phone show the update completed successfully or did it give an error?
KIRK I LOVE YOU MAN!
So I was thinking more about reflashing the radio, and I read in some other threads about redoing step 5 in the hack kit, so I took your advise and improvised a little and BAM! I got a lock. I had to install faster fix to get it working good but I am back to seeing satellites in mi casa! I can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me, it's nice to see another fellow XDA'er who cares about the community. I am about to thank every post in this thread and any others I can find!!! I LOVE YOU MAN I CANT TELL YOU HOW MUCH!!!

Ya thanks. I can't promise anything though, I will probably be flashing something new tomorrow! Plus I still am a little confused as to why this happened. The last thing I flashed was LeeDroid 2.2.2 and I coulda swore that the GPS got a lock after I flashed because that is one of the first things I always check because it is something I use everyday, but I could be wrong. Anyway thanks for the help again.

No problem, anytime!
I've experienced the same thing also when flashing different ROMs. I finally followed the same instructions you followed and works every time for me and for a few others.
A new thread just popped up in the Inspire 4G General section with someone that has the same problem you had.
I'm completely lost. I have tried everything I have found on the forums and nothing had restored my GPS. I've flashed fixes, flashed new radios, new roms, formatted everything and started over with a brand new rom install. Can somebody please help me.

Have you tried using Hboot to flash the radio? Follow the instructions on post 5 in this thread. Might work for you.
After about one day of this GB update, what can we tell? Still any issues? Some people bricked their phones, so is there any idea why? Can we recap on what has been achieved this far? Are there any flashable ROMs with all good stuff?
The phone is still buggy. I have been having issue with BT and the phone locked up on a call once.
Basically, sometimes when I turn my BT headset off, it will still say it is connected on the phone. I will need to turn the BT off and then back on to get it to work correctly again.
As for the phone locking up. I was on BT and switched over to the speaker phone and the phone just died. I had to do a battery pull to get it to turn back on.
So it really just sounds like they need to work on BT more because I never had these issues on Froyo.

Did you update the baseband?
I'm curious about this too! I was about to start a tread, but this one shall do.
Questions -
1. (People having reboots before update)
*Did it fix the reboot issue?
2. (People with signal problems before update)
*Did the new baseband fix this/ do you get better signal now??
3. Another problem I have is that wifi and 4G constantly battle each other to see which one gets the signal. So I have to turn wifi on and off until 2G/4G go away.
(For people that have this)
*Did this get solved?
4. * Does GPS lock faster/work better?
I've had three different phones and I've had same issues with all three and even trying different roms. A different rom might fix one issue, but not the others for me.
My main concern is the reboot and signal issues!
These are questions for people that have same or similar issues.
NOT for people with no issues before update.
So please NO "There is nothing wrong with my phone!" People.
Thanks!!
....
For those who are still having problems after the update it might be wise just to do a factory reset because froyo and gbread is very different...
* GPS locks much faster now, often instantly, and indoors.
* Switching between 2G/4G seems to be smoother; doesn't lose the connection for a few seconds like it used to

I had reboot issues before and so far haven't had any, but to make a proper conclusion I'll have to wait, as even before the update sometimes I would make it days between reboots/shut offs and sometimes only hours.
GPS appears to be very good now, as for wifi/4g/2g I always turn off 2g and use only wcdma setting, and haven't had any issues with it, I leave my wifi and BT on at all times too even when not connected and don't have too bad battery strain.
some things I noticed, in the gallery now when I hit share I don't see the gmail option, the camera reverted back to stock, which is a shame because I loved the things the LG cam app had, but there are a lot of camera apps (I love vignette) so that's not a huge issue, if anyone has the lg app I would love it back though.
I did have some sluggishness especially this morning, I downloaded some widgets though so it might be more of what I added than the update itself.
one surprise was that I thought it was supposed to wipe all data etc. from the phone, but everything was set up the same as I had it before with launcher pro, so I was happy I didn't have to start from scratch. Also I have been getting occasional force closes with launcher pro that I didn't have before.
as far as quadrant scores go I'm getting consistant 2600+ so that is good, I had Faux's kernal and OC to 1300 w/ pimpmycpu and was getting 2800-3000 so without OC I'm more than happy with 2600. Now if only netflix will make it's way to this phone as is, and hopefully we can root soon as i really want ROM Manager, pimpmycpu and a few other root only apps to work again! Love this community, everyone is so helpful and creative, keep up the good work.
GPS locks Faster
Google Music Beta offline feature does NOT work, won't download.
Android Market did not restore my previous apps.
Touch screen is still dodgy, sometimes requiring multiple touches.
Email, specifically @Live.com mail will not display junk mail. Other folders, yes, but not junk.

Has anyone figured out why some people have bricks trying to update? To be honest I still hesitate to do the update because I still don't know why this happens
MOST of the situations seem to be because they didn't want to follow directions, and insisted on doing it their way...then, "OMG! LG BRICKZORD MY PHONE!!!"
I'm sure there were a minority few that had some other difficulty, but from what I read, almost every "brick" post I read had failed to list "nvflashed stock recovery" as one of the prerequisite steps.

I think it's worth waiting for a rooted flashable version a day or two and to avoid any risks.

I wish that were true for me. As I've mentioned in other threads, I'm still getting 90-180 second TTFFs, which is about where I was with stock Froyo. I hope someone will reply to my question in the other thread about the system settings they have that give them such good results. I've fiddled with all of the ones in the hidden menu GPS Test section and haven't found a good combination (and I don't know what the factory settings are supposed to be any more); it's hard because of having to wait a few hours between tests to let the ephemeris data expire in the receiver so I won't just be getting a carryover hot fix.

Hmm, that's strange; I still have Gmail in the list of options for "Share" in the gallery.
As for the camera, I think I actually like this one better. At least, it seems to do a better job of taking close-ups with the flash. With the original LG camera, close-up flash photos were always blown-out and overexposed. I took a couple of test shots in a dark room with the flash, and they look great, about as good as you can get with an LED flash, I think.

If I recall, once you reach the % range....the install range, it tells you, do NOT disconnect. Some of the pictures people were showing were in the Analyze area, before the actual download and install. I think if you get past the analyze phase you can install. I don't believe you can get past it with CWR installed.
Even still, the anticipated failure rate of an update like this (Bricked), is like 8 digits to the right of the decimal point. Even with the problems MS had with the NODO update on the Samsungs, the total # of failures was like 8 World wide. (or just over half their sales. )
So the process is pretty well tested and known.

I promise you that I did it with CWM installed... I literally restored my stock nandroid, booted into that and then ran the update tool... I only had one hiccup where after i got to the S/W screen (after I had already downloaded but before the update) it said that I did not have the phone connected so i unplugged and plugged back in and that didnt work... so I unplugged, pulled the battery, put it back in, plugged in and everything went smoothly

With all the great info you provided I am sure someone will be able to help
well i read earlier that someone had problems with the android.process.media has stopped... thats the problem about after a minute of it pooping up my phone just resets. no need to be a **** about it
Without info you aren't going to get any good help. A rebooting phone could be caused by many issues. So far you have given us an error. This is still very little to go on. And now since you resorted to name calling I doubt you will get much help.

That error could be cause by no less then 100 different things. Welcome to a development site. You have to provide all the needed info before we can help. With the info you gave me I would suggest to flash to a stock rom and stay there until you understand a little bit more about what your doing. I see no rom, radio, ril, mods, recovery, it flashing info at all.

That's what i was thinking, but i was accused of flaming by a guy in the Captivate forums today, so i bit my tongue
i just flashed the absolution rom and it again crashed on me and i did wipe the cache and system before installing the custom rom.
and it reboots in the middle of typing or on standby >.< it is quite irritating to be honest
Rebooting
This is caused with a bad flash, radio/ril mismatch, and other programs that have been reinstalled from a backup. I would also suggest re-flashing to a stock rom, and see if it still does it, and if not I would look at getting a new rom. You also can reinstall the one you are running and then add the apps back one at a time to see if it is generated by them. Also I suggest going back to the dev thread and make sure you have the correct radio-ril combo. Search-Research and you will find the root cause.

The absolution Rom was having some issues with battery and themes tweaks in the absolution tools. If you happened to change any of those that is probably the problem.
Random Reboot
well instead of starting a new thread I'll tap onto this one. I am also experiencing random reboots. My phone will reboot regardless if you are using it or not.The reboots can be as far apart as a couple of days or as frequent as 4 times a day. I am running a stock Gingerbread OS.(AT&T) The phone is not rooted. The phone is as stock as possible. The only apps on the phone are the ones that are pre-loaded by AT&T. I have changed the battery with a new OEM HTC battery. I replaced the SD card. I have also replaced the battery door.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Its the battery. I had mine reboot at 96% and 48%. Replace the battery.
