The ExtROM of the MDA Compact (aka XDAIIi, Magician) can be accessed by soft-resetting AFTER having gone thru the initial startup (calibrate screen and all that) and BEFORE the customisation.
The ExtROM will then be visible.
Normally during customisation "Delete_vdisk_shortcut_ger.cab" or (a similar cab on non-T-Mobile Magician) will make the ExtROM invisible. The ExtROM stays locked, so you can only copy things off!!
In the ExtROM appear to be ywo interesting cabs:
- "T9.cab"or "Intellipad.cab" which contains a new SIP with T9 facilities. Should work flawlessly on ie a Himalaya.
- "IntelliDailer.cab" which contains the new dialer which features a T9 contact lookup. On ppc-welt.info it was stated that it doesnt work flawlessly on a Himalaya, but maybe that can be figured out?
There are some german language versions going round, but I also see the need of getting the English language versions of both IntelliPad and Intellidialer . . .
and here it is...
and remeber, these files are for test purposes only
Thanks, I will try/test something with it.
Hopefully the English version pops up one of these days.
BTW, I opened the cab that hides the ExTROM (aka VDisk) on Magician. In it there is a xml-file that seems to do the hiding trick:
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\HTC\Customize">
<parm name="DelFileCount" value="1" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="DelFile1" value="\Windows\AutoStart\LoadVDisk.lnk" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
Should be possible to create a CAB that inverts this hiding . . . .(I gues by removing the two keys DelFileCount and DelFile1)
I have tried to install intellidialer.cab,
but I only see my dial skin changed to T-mobile style,
how to enable the T9 dialer ? any ideas ?
mmm, that definitely IS the question.
isnt there any tools/setting option?
I noticed this new dialer also has the 'old style' pictures in it. Guess it is possible to choose between onld-style-dialer and IntelliDialer then.
same problem too...
Intellidialer
seems to work great on sorting contacts on PDA2K.
After installing I switched my dial pad skin back to xda skin chooser and all works great.
Steve
Steve: You got it working then?
Must be the WM2003SE os the Blue Angel features (and the Himalaya lacks . . .)
For now: Pity for us . . . .
Add Blackberry -anyone?
My biggest wishlist...
Possible to add Blackberry Connect extracted from XDA II and cook it in this XDA IIi ExtROM?
I don't know if it helps but on Compactjam I read the following:
To view or hide the EXTENDED_ROM of the MDA Compact without a hard reset, do the following...
Edit the registry key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\VDisk\ and add a DWord key with the follwing value:
To hide...
MountFlags=1
To Show...
MountFlags=0
...and do a soft reset.
It doesn't work.
@little_frog
Well you must be doing something wrong then. I just tried it and I can indeed show or hide the Extended_ROM.
It didnt work on mine as well.
My VDisk reg setting reads:
Folder : Extended_Rom
MountFlags : 0 (added by me)
Name : Extended_Rom
Is it any difference from yours?
It didnt work on mine as well.

You don't need to change anything in registry.
Just run \Windows\LoadVDisk.exe to see Extended Rom folder.
This folder will be visible without soft reset.
After soft reset you don't see it again.
Darek
i aint got that on my imate jam?
Just go to your WIndows folder and scroll down, you will see a file named LoadVdisk.exe, run it and you will see the ext rom folder. Worked on my MDA Compact.

Hi,
Well, i'm looking for that cause mine does not have this plugin to launch applications from the home page (i don't mean the 5 shortcuts at the botom but the smallest ones we can see on the HTC VOX pics around the internet).
Anyway to got it ? or to extract it ? to have it as a cab file ? what more can i ask
Try this one:
http://www.kolumbus.fi/anders.ruohio/sp.html
follow this thread to do it :
http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5058
Hello,
I follow these 2 links... and find beautifull homepages, thanks.
But still searching for the plugin where there's shortcuts applications.
Still looking for
you have to change the xml of your homescreen. The instructions are on the link ...
- <plugin clsid="{79EFB752-CB70-446d-B317-499723482B3D}" name="startmru" height="20">
<mru y="1" icon-size="16" halign="left" valign="centre" />
<format state="selected" bgcolor="COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHTTEXT" />
</plugin>
the secret is icon-size=16
Thank you but i don't manage with it, anyway to get it as a cab file ?
Trying installing Orchid ShortCut.
This tool ables you to make groups of shortcuts on your homescreen.

You can also try Facade's launcher.
Thanx to Dr. Martin Gonzo in this thread, we can now set the comm manager to the new HTC style!
Dr. Martin Gonzo said:
Here you go. Here is what I changed to it : it is the commmanager from HTC s730, I changed the skin, added vibrate option, created an icon for it and removed some other fonctions I don't use.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Instructions:
Download the comm manager zip below and unpack the files into the windows folder.
the 2 things to change/add in the registry are:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager]
"DisableButtonText"=dword:3 (sets the list-style comm manager)
"SupportedFunctions"=dword:6 (sets 6 buttons)
another thing: If you want to have the vibrate button instead of the directpush button in the list, simply rename in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager the folders 6 and 4
Good luck!
Additional info about comm manager:
in this Hermes thread ppl are discussing about the various comm manager options.
I'll copy them here and add some:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager]
"TurnOffPhoneDelay"=dword:0 ----> 0(delay) or 1(No Delay)
"DoNotQueryGPRS"=dword:0 ------>0 or 1 (Not sure what it does, defaulted to 0)
"UseMSFlightMode"=dword:0 ------> 0 or 1 Self Explaination
"TurnOnWLANInFlightMode"=dword:0 ------> 0 or 1(Flightmode Off will turn on WLAN together with Phone and Bluetooth)
"TextColor"=dword:0 -----> 0(white) or 1(Base Hue Color)
"EmptyMenuBar"=dword:0 ------>0(MenuEnabled) or 1(Menu Disabled)
"DefaultScheme"="" -------->use with DinamicBGImage
"SecondBMPResource"="" -------->Use with DinamicBGImage
"DynamicBGImage"=dword:0 ----> 0(static BG) or 1(Dynamic BG) Have not try this yet
"TurnOffAUTDInFlightMode"=dword:0 ----> 0 or 1 self explaination(AUTD is Push Email)
"UseBluetoothCPL"=dword:1 (Not sure what is does, defaulted to 1)
"DisableButtonText"=dword:3 (sets the list-style comm manager, set to 0 for button-style)
"SupportedFunctions"=dword:6 (sets 6 buttons)
So: play around with it and share which ones work on the Vox!
And here is the original skin !
It 's not work with me,
Could you please kindly provide the 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 directories important informations?
I think it's something wrong about this.
Thanks please,
I meant the Data Communication bar is not come up, but I got ActiveSync instead.
I think the best is you just export the whole Comm Manager key and upload it here. Thank you again
EDIT:
Stupid question, I already have it:

I think the CommManager.exe.040C.mui as I had two other CommManager.exe.0407.mui and CommManager.exe.0409.mui. It is not working here. Any ideas?
@frauhottelman:
you publish the wrong registrydump:
-the SupportedFunctions must be 6 instead of 5
-in the folders 4, 5 and 6 you have 3x vibrate. If you want to see Vibrate, put it as 4 and make 5 DataDisconnection and 6 AUTD
- what is exactly your question about the mui?
@mobile24h:
- I don't understand your question. Don't you see the new comm at all or are you speaking about 1 specific line in the comm manager?
I know the vibrating thing, but that is the registry dump which i got from Dr. Martin Gonzo, I changed that already. The thing is I think mobile24h has the same problem, the Comm manager shows up, but it is the old design from the S710 now with only 6 buttons! That is all that shows up and it is stupid, because the soft keys don't work and the icon bar on top with battery and so on doesn't show up!

try playing around with the "DisableButtonText"=dword:3 function. Change it to 0, 1, 2, 4 etc. I have the ARA 1.27 rom, and it works perfect for me. The setting 0 is the classic version for me, and 3 the new one.
Just use a taskmanager to kill the commmanager proces, and start it again after just adjusted the setting to see the results!
good luck, let me know if this helped!
ps, which language ru using? Mine is english, so the mui is 0409
Mh I tried from 0-5 but it didn't change anything. I am using German, but I tried with US and UK English as well. Maybe the old ROM I am using 1.16.407.1 doesn't support it?!
Hey could you upload the commManager.exe from Windows? Maybe that changed with the new rom!?
Maybe a stupid question, but how do I copy the files to the windows directory. I'm not able to overwrite some files. (They are in use...)
Thanks in advance for the help.
You have to stop the processes which use these files. E.g. if you want to overwrite something that is used by the CommManager.exe, you have to kill that process.
I am closer now, the problem is that the CommManager.exe and CommManagerRes.dll are hidden and I didn't copy them. But now the problem is that it doesn't show text like Bluetooth or Wifi
YEAH
It finally works!!!!!!!!
Here I made a package without hidden files. Just kill CommManager.exe, copy contents of windows folder to your phone's windows folder and overwrite all. Then apply CommManager.reg. Done
thank you or cleaning my messy work !
could someone post polish mui file for this comm manager? (with 415 number in filename)
Hm I don't think anybody has, but you can change the MUI yourself. Just rename it to the right number and open with notepad. There you should see some weired stuff and then things like S e t t i n g s i think when you just change all of them to polish it should work?! Would you try that and then report back if it works?
You should rather use a resource hacker program instead of notepad. That's what I did and it works. Search for reshack or XN Resource Editor in Google
ok I've translated almoust everything but in english mui file there are some french words, if someone could translate it to english I would be grateful
Words:
"Désactiver toutes les connections"
"Désactiver radio" - Is that mean the same as "Turn off phone"?
"Relancer les connections"
As far as I know there aren't a lot lot raph's owner editing their manila to add a calendar, call history or comm manager tab. I bumped into all kinds of wall's when I tried to add an calendar tab. After a lot of searching and trying I can't get manila editor 2.0 to recognize the 26948339_manila file, It just doesn't see it for some reason. Anybody else tried and succeeded? Or to add other tabs? This could be the thread where different kinds of manila mods on raphael could be discussed. I'll posted it here when I have found a solution, cheers
These are some of the tabs, already in the diamond forum, Calendar, comm manager and Call history
Hi!
I currently have the calendar and commanager tabs working on my touch pro.
I took me some working to get them there, but i did it.
Try installing the theme posted on the link below, it has both tabs and is basically the original theme with the greens changed into blue (my creation).
You can apply the theme with Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool v 3.2.
Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?oxbz2eayvgu
Cheers and good luck.
Real nice thank you! Did you do this with manila editor? You mean to say open with TF3D config right? Either way can't seem to open it (i did use AC 3.2 and). Must be doing something wrong...
First, you got it right, I meant the Diamond TF3D Config instead of configurator, sorry for the mistake.
What version of the TF3D config are you using? I'm using 0.6.7 and i've just installed this very same theme after having changed to another one previously....
Where/how are you trying to install the theme? Are you going in the "appearence", selecting the directory where you placed the .theme file clicking on "path", selecting the theme it self on the drop down list, then clicking on "apply" and hitting "start"...
Maybe you missed some of these steps?
Anyways, take a further look and search into the diamond themes threads, you may find your way...
Cheers.
I would love a "tasks" tab...

Hey man thanks for replying did all that but it doesn't show, also have the latest version(apptodate), maybe it has thye wrong format. I'm on romeos. Here are some screenshot's. But could you also tell me how you edited these because I cannot get manila editor the read 26948339_manila. Anyway thans a lot , cheers
I'm out of ways to try to edit 26948339_manila (to add a calendar tab to manila), there is just no way this file is seen by manila editor 0.2. I'm using this on vista, maybe someone else has some info...
I have managed to install comm manager via this cab
Use a notepad like application (windows XP Notepad worked for me), not the manilla editor. Don't forget to change the file attributes to "writeable" (not read-only) prior to editing it.
Good luck.

Now my default theme. Thankyou. I was bored with the Vodafone one.
The call history page locks up each time I switch to it. Everything else works perfectly. What am I missing?
I succeeded in getting either a calendar tab or comm manager tab. Will attach the manila files, which are those created by D-MAN666 + 26948339_manila I edited (thanks cassiano)
Ok I succeeded in installing both of the tabs, with the above cab and these manila files (copy them to your windows folder with total commander). Something new has come up though, my home screen calander link became unresponsive (it doesn't link any more)

I had the same issue...and think it was because I loaded the Calendar tab first. Blob8Me has 14 tabs total with no issues, but went in a sequence that allowed it. I don't want to remove my calendar tab to install the call history tab first. Holding my ground with just 12 tabs.

I'm still using the Diamond Forum for most developments as much of the work done there works for the Raphael seemlessly - not all, but most. The next major development I'm waiting for is the ability to apply the Home wall-paper to all Tabs in TF3D but this doesnt quite work yet although I made some small progress with mun_rus's work for the Sprint Diamond - see post #78 in link bellow!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432951&page=8
So - changes I've made since my last post here - I've added a sound settings tab - that gives me 14 active and useful tabs now I've added the analog clock to my home Tab - loosing the call history & appointment but I have the call history tab and still get my reminders for appointments. I've also added the VGA battery icon and tweaked the Titles on a couple of pages.
Current Tabs are:
Home - Of Course!
Speed Dial (People Tab)
Messages
Mail (Blackberry Connect & Emoze Free Push email client - www.emoze.com - both in use - very happy)
Jeff's Day (D-Man666's Calendar Tab)
Call History
Weather
Ohoto's & Videos
Music
Internet
Comm Manager (IDS_Communications Tab)
Settings
Programs
Sound Settings (Sound Tab)
A few (but not all) screenshots attached for info -those with the wallpaper as a background (weather, calendar) are as a result of woring on the background changer from mun_rus - please search this and the Diamond forum before asking for cabs, code etc.....
So - Lets see some more activity on the forum from Raphael users...... we do, after all have the best phone available in the world at the moment?

Yes, because the Call History and Calendar had the same number. Moved the Call History to page 11. Still locked when I went into the tab. Just uninstalled. I will install the Call History first after I install the Elite Rom (once released). Not sweating about it right now.
I was looking to reactivate the non responsive calendar link on the home screen but I suddenly got another tab added (the unresponsive link seems to be caused by mun_rus' Backgound Image on All Pages)

To be honest (having done a lot of this) I find that the standard notebook app that comes with windows is fine for basic edits????
.
I installed the Calendar tab on my Touch Pro - everything is working except the month and days are displayed as IDS_CALENDAR_xxxxxxx (xxxx being the name of month/day).
Where is this filed substituted?
Nevermind, I got it - the zip did not include one important file. I got it from elswhere, now it works.

Hi guys, i'd realy like to know which path leads to the "alarm" menu (the right slider in the clock menu, which you can access through tipping on the clock on homescreen (manila 2.1, wm 6.5).
I need the filepath, to set it up on the right softkey on manila homescreen.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks...

P.S.: I don't need instructions how to edit the softkeys, i know how to proceed in the registry.

\Windows\Clock.exe will get you to the same screen as when you click on the clock but not sure how to default to Alarm tab.
All right, thanks so far for this hint, but it actually gets me to the "windows" clock settings - due to the nice look of manila / sense / tf3d (whatever), i would prefere to get to the manila style clock settings (alarm settings).
Anybody else an idea?

I don't think it can be done because manila uses a series of Mode9 files for one CPL, so there are multiple files for that function.
Another option would be an external program like G-Alarm.
Okay... that's why nowhere else on the net I found an answer...
Thank you though...
Feature Settings
If it's a *.cpl file it's accessible! See my post and within it several links to more information about accessing Feature Settings via *.LNK files...
In the xda wiki there's a link for the Windows Alarms.

It just needs some more investigation <g>

As Sascha stated, "i would prefere to get to the manila style clock settings (alarm settings)." not the windows CPL, which as I stated can be achieved by linking to Clock.exe
You can't link the Manila Alarm UI to a softkey.
Nice tutorial though.
