Everyone keeps saying that the 1.5 update is being pushed to they're phone, yet NO ONE on here has gotten a link up or any info regarding how to obtain the update? How the F * C K is this possible?!? We have rom developers and firmware modifiers on here, yet no one, NO ONE can get they're hands on the OTA update? WTF?
There is no new T-Mobile US RC release being pushed out yet OTA... or a lot more people would have gotten it.
They're talking about the OTA update for Android Dev Phones
I think it's cause it hasn't hit the US yet only over seas. And to get it it will send you a update on your phone.that is if you haven't rooted it yet.But if you want 1.5 that bad you can always flash 1 of the many 1.5 builds on this site.there all great in there only way.well atleast dudes and haykuros builds are great.now thats only because i only treid does 2 builds.if your looking for something stockish feel to it.I would go with the JF 1.5

If I root my MyTouch and run the stock ROM that is posted here about 40 mb will I still get the ota updates then since the spl and recovery will be different.
id like to know this as well, but also for us who are running custom ROMS such as Cyanogens ROM
will we still get OTA updates?
Sorry everyone this was a really dumb question especially for me as I already know that answer. The MyTouch once is rooted will NOT get OTA updates since the keys will not match at all. You will not get any updates on the stock rom and espcially not on a modified firmware version

well that stinks, how will we update our phones when new updates to the Android OS come out? manually update/flash the ROMS again?
it does not "stink" not getting otas keeps us from getting our root taken away and our handsets re-lockdown'd.
hang out here and when an ota comes out, it gets modded and available for update.
HAHA, man what are those guys doing in this forum?
you got me.....haha........

My phone congratulated me this morning, saying that there was an update available from T-Mobile.
I checked out the forums and searched Google News and could find no information on the update or what it was going to do. Was a little paranoid it would help T-Mobile throttle my DL speeds or have some other negative effect. My phone is not rooted.
Got antsy at work and installed it.
Disappointingly, it is not Gingerbread. It says my firmware version is 2.2.1 my kernel version is 2.6.32.9 build FROYO.VUVKD1
Anybody have any idea what this is?

kd1 is supposed to fix the sms fail error, and the reboot issue, and is faster. Weve had KD1 for a while now, unofficially
old news
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsu...for-our-Samsung-Galaxy-S-4G-users/td-p/839425
could have manually loaded it weeks ago. it was official from samsung and tmo. they didnt want to push it over the air all at once and cripple their network.
it's been good for me.
kd1 has also been out officially via kies u can find it in the tmobile sgs4g forum.... but i guess u chose to wait for the OTA.... and success100 said its also been out unofficially...
dont forget Thank if info was useful.....
So...
So what the hell. Can it be rooted?
please read.Just use Super1Click
There is alot of information on the board.people like you are driving good developers away like krylon..please read and you search remember none of us get paid to help you
The Asian WWE for Gingerbread DesireHD was released a few weeks ago and just yesterday the Telus Gingerbread OTA update went out so it is likely that we'll see a US AT&T Gingerbread update for the Inspire very soon.
Now the caution:
So far, there is no known way to get root once these updates are installed. HTC has officially announced that they plan to make their ROMs more open in the future, but, since these updates are already in the pipeline and being pushed to other markets, it may be awhile before official HTC policy catches up with ROMs in the wild. The current crop of ROMs, if installed via OTA updates, will LOCK YOUR DEVICE against being able to root. Until devs figure out how to work around the holes HTC has plugged, DON'T APPLY ANY OTA UPDATES!
This only applies to users of stock roms on non-S-OFF devices. If you already are rooted with S-OFF, then you probably are running a custom ROM and don't have to worry. Even if you are running a relatively stock ROM with S-OFF, you'll probably be OK, but if you have yet to root your device, BEWARE; don't accept any OTA updates until devs have figured this out.
ATTN1 has confirmed this and posted as such in his twitter feed:

Dought we will have to worry about this as ATT will have to approve of it first and it will be awhile before that happens. After talking to a few old friends it will be a few months till we see the update.
Why would anyone with a rooted Inspire want to get the OTA update anyways? There are plenty of roms out there that already have Gingerbread that don't make you wait for it.. Maybe I am missing something.
Well, those people don't have to worry since the OTA update will most likely fail, but if you aren't rooted and apply an update like these, then you won't have the option to root anymore (until and if devs come up with a solution).
Zelendel is probably right though about AT&T dragging their feet on this one. It probably won't be an issue for months.
Hello All;
I am new to the smartphone world and I recently rooted my TB with a Stock Rom; now that I am rooted how would I maintain an up to date phone?
Is there a way to sign up for new update notifications from this site, or do I need to keep up with blogs, chats, and the internet on my own?
Note: I have had two questions that I posted on this site and both of them have been answered/very useful.
Thank you all in advance!
I may be completely mistaken but I believe it is up to you to watcth the forums and find a blog to follow.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Up to date according to Verizon or the developers here? XDA is pretty much bleeding edge in terms of radios and operating system updates.
Ok, this what I need to know. Thanks!
Ok, thanks. I just dont want to fall behind the ROM race.

Now that your rooted if you want to remain on a rooted stock rom, just wait til you see a blog on here about a new thunderbolt update (MR2 for example)
Then give it a day or 2 for someone to release the update in a rooted version, in a thread in the thunderbolt development section that looks like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160374
[ROM] Official 1.70.605.0 MR2 OTA Deodexed Rooted Busybox
which is for rooted users follow the directions on flashing using cwm and then flashing the new radio file if there is one, through hboot.
you will then maintain root while still getting the latest ota's.

Thank you for taking the time to explain to me the process; direct me and I will take it from there.
Unfortunately you're going to see a number of old threads for ROMs with dead links. Most of what you're going to need is here. The newest radio isn't, that I've seen. And I'm not sure there's any gingerbread builds based on the newest leak are here either. If I'm wrong, someone correct me. If you find a locked ROM thread, just Google the name.
Glad you've joined the community and we hope to be as helpful as possible.
Hey guys.
I was thinking of getting a Desire S, How would I go about getting Sense 3.0 on a T-Mobile U.K Desire S?
I don't want to flash custom ROM's, but wouldn't mind Rooting to debrand or anything
You might want to wait a few days in the hope of an offiicial announcement from HTC.
Although a few users have already received an OTA update already in the last few days, most of us (I think) haven't.
A lot of people have been asking HTC on facebook about the update and HTC are being utterly non-comittal about it with just a stock answer.
If the official update doesn't appear within a time frame that you like, there is always great support right here to load a custom ROM.
Hi. Thanks for your reply.
So it wouldn't be possible form De-branding and RUU or anything, or is there no actual RUU?
I wouldn't mind waiting for the update, would just like to know when it is
