Let me start by saying that sorry I have to start another thread because my last one was closed and the moderator doesn't seem to want to respond to my pm. Let me also state I am not asking for what is the best rom for you or me. I am just looking for a rom that has comparable free ram.
I ask this. Alex 6.0 ultra clean rom had approx. 71mb ram free on first boot. I have been through many 6.1 lite and naked roms and have not found one with that much free. The most I have found is 62ish. Are there any 6.1 roms with that much free ram? Or is 6.1 bigger and that much ram is not possible with the newer OS. Added features amd software don't matter. I am just looking for the high ram numbers.
And even after posting yet another thread with the same question as the last thread you started that was closed; you're still going to get the same answer. Just search the roms and look at the specs they have. My advice to you is either flash to a lite rom or a naked rom. There are plenty out there to choose from. And for the love of God or whomever you worship, please stop cluttering this forum with new threads. It really makes it hard for other people to browse and search for what they're looking for when there are senseless threads like this. And if you can't find the "perfect" high free ram rom, sell your phone and buy an iphone. Sorry if I sound harsh but when you start another thread with the exact same question as the first one you started that was closed for a reason that was already explained to you; I mean that's just stupid!!
All I can say is wow. I could see this happening if I had asked like how in install hardspl or something. But. What a helpful community this has become.
the new htc 6.1 builds seem to have less and less ram with every new release.
anryl just recently discovered a hack that frees up quite a few mbs of ram. you could try his rom
also, you could try the Kaiser Special (no link right now, im on opera mini, sorry). it should be a few pages back because i just asked a question in that thread the other day.
im working on a rom that will have a lot of free ram while still having 6.1 or 6.5. u could wait for that
or u could try cooking one yourself (no sarcasm). id be glad to help you out if u need any help
good luck
You could try the Hyperdragon Rodium IV Lite rom it has around 71 mbs of free ram on boot up.
Thanks for the help. I knew not everyone here was unhelpful.

Honestly dude, your better off to search and flash around then starting threads.
That said, as you can see there are allot of helpful people around these threads, even myself, you can add my msn if you have questions on cooking or otherwise..
It's not that we're trying to be not helpful, we are just trying to cut down on clutter around here with new threads on topics that can be discovered by flashing roms and answers that can be searched.
I'm gonna close the thread in a few minuets, if a few others have any helpful suggestions on a clean rom for this fellow feel free to chime in.
@drewcam888 if you have any questions or anything feel free to pm me.
Otherwise take care,
Josh
Closing thread guys....
Peace,
Josh
I wasn't ignoring your PM. As any other moderator can attest to, we get inundated with PMs from users, and emails from the forum software every time someone reports a post/thread/PM/visitor message. It takes a considerable amount of time to go through everything, and we are forced to prioritize things as much as possible while also working our real life [paying] jobs. At any given time, I have 10-15 unread PMs in my mailbox; I respond [when necessary] in the order they arrive.

wow a little harsh huh? why the sour response?
Well, Doug is probably coming from some other forum where a new "Which is the best ROM?" kind of post is started each week. It is a natural question, but it gets old after a while.
In the Hermes thread for example, there are multiple kitchens for making ROMs, so everyone and his brother are putting out new ROMs constantly that suit their needs. Asking which is the best is kind of like asking which restaurant is best in San Francisco. There are good ones and bad ones, cheap ones and expensive ones, it is all a matter of taste.
At this point though, with three or so cooked ROMs out for the Kaiser, I think it might be a valid question. Most knowledgable people will have tried all three and come to some sort of conclusion.
Yeah really ! why would this piss anybody off ?

Really, a good way to find out what's best (for you) is to try them out. I know, everyone says that. But they say it for a reason.
A great place to find out before flashing is to hop into the individual threads for the specific ROMS and read what's included in each and what comments (good and bad) have been posted. There's only a few ROMs out at the moment, so that won't be hard at all.
Usually when anyone starts a thread like this they just want someone to throw out an easy "The best ROM is...". I am personally using the HTC stock at the moment. I like it for now, others don't. So, you'll have to decide for yourself.
Have fun finding out!

My issue with the question is that if there truly was a "best ROM so far" available, it would be posted as such and probably stickied. The point is that there is no BEST, even with only 3 of them out there. Each is different.
I've tried all three ROMs and seem to be about the same. Only differences are the apps included, and storage space. Check them out and see for yourself.
Kaiser Roms, which is best?
I spent the last two days testing out all the variants of the ROMS out there, and there are pretty much only 4 English versions available.
Here you go, a nice summary of the results in one quick read, but i've not included the links to the files, some work for you
1. the stock HTC one - RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe (uses WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620)
and then 3 or so (because he has sub versions to remove unnecessary programs) variants of the same ROM by Helmi:
2. helmi_Kaiser_1.57.000.1_AKU.0.7.0.Cooked.exe - a cooked version based on HTC WWE version but has newer WM6 CE base code (WM6 CE OS 5.2.1908)
3. Helmi_Kaiser_1.57.00.02_AKU.0.7.0.Cooked.exe - another cooked version of HTC_WWE version but has selectable "activator" directory of cabs that the user can install as desired. Also uses same WM6 CE OS 5.2.1908 as above.
4. Helmi_Kaiser_1.57.00.03_AKU.0.7.0.Cooked.exe - yet another flavour, but this one has virtually all extra programs removed in a good attempt at freeing up as much memory as possible, it also uses a newer version of WM6 CE OS 5.2.1921.
see Helmi's link for all the info. My hats off to you Helmi.
In the end, I decided to go with the standard version as released by HTC, as I didn't notice much of a difference myself. I have naturally upgraded various cabs and installed my ideal base set of apps to get the machine setup as I prefer. My decision to go this way was based on what I prefer and you should really try the ROMS yourself to make the correct decision, I didn't try every program with each version so perhaps i missed things.
I upgraded the Radio to version 1.27.12.17. -(this doesn't appear to make any difference to my terrible radio reception or the random dropping off of the radio link to GSM, neither does selecting the gsm option under band instead of auto). Thank god that I don't use 3G as there seems to be a real problem with the UMTS radio code. I just hope that I don't have a hardware fault, but I doubt it as numerous other people and links reflect similar issues to mine. We can only hope that HTC will release new RADIO code soon.
So, I wish you well in your endeavor to find "the perfect ROM".....
While I wouldn't have posted "best rom" question (as I agree, that is so subjective), that is a great help SAppie! Thanks!
Agree and Disagree
Not wanting to piss everyone off
I think the OP was requesting ROM test result and comparison, like SAppie comment, as I also agree there's no such thing as 'best ROM'.
Now, there're release with WM6.5 and others. Anyone can update this with newer ROM's comparison?
As a newbie in WM myself, some of the thread has 1000 pages .. to read all will be tough, but sometimes that's the only way. The FAQ and sticky is helpful as starting point for me ..
well i tried athineos os, hyperdragon III, life in 3d and now i will try 6.5 beta but so far the fastest is the athineos and it greaat
This is an old topic with no real constructive merit, so I'm closing it.

Build 19199 or Build 5.2.19716 updated FEB 20.2008 seems to be the newer one?
i personally prefer 19716 build but you can try both and figure it out. there was no need to open a whole new thread just 4 this question.
It's a perfectly valid question dude.
Like most people I am frustrated by people asking the same questions again and again, but I am concerned that this forum is in danger of heading down a bad road by bashing noobs at every opportunity.

Yes it's a perfectly valid question to ask in Dutty's thread about his ROM not creating a whole new thread about it.
totally agree.
You could argue this is like asking a parent which one of their kids they like the most!
Best thing is to try both and see which you prefer. There will be advocates for both.
ps don't try that with your kids. it will end you up in jail.
I use each rom on my 2 tilts. I feel that 197 is more stable. 191 sometimes freeze if you push some buttons whil they are booting up. doesn't happen to 197.
No disrespect to anyone here on the board, but Dutty's thread is quickly becoming useless to me. I'm not going to weed through 330+ pages of replies to try to follow a conversation or find a piece of information in there. That thread is quickly becoming it's own universe.
I'm glad this thread was started - It's good information for me that I wouldn't have otherwise found.

Jeff

Yeah, all threads suffer from this, and I'm also totally agreeing with you, I'm also in the same situation, cannot read hundreds of posts and pages of every ROM thread to find out if it's a suitable one to upgrade to. Trying out so many ROMs until satisfied is not an option for me (ok, I'd admit trying a few, but not every version of every flavour of wm6.1), I want to find one to get rid of my german wm6.0 and have iGo still working, and no issues more than with 6.0.
An updated FAQ in the beginning posts of the respective threads would be useful, but even better, real wiki articles (not just links back to forum threads). Don't want to upset people who discovered the Internet just when these forums where already around, but on mailing lists information and discussions where easier to follow and filter...
Just my 0.2€...
Back to the question: which is the best?
Let me tell you: the new 19716 RTM out to come soon will be the best and fastest ever!!!
as the title says...?
I've been using Dutty's for the past few months, but it seems like ROMeOS is the best these days...
Probably the same one as the answer to the last time this question was asked... Oh, about 20 minutes ago. Please use the search. That's why it's there.
Seriously though, Best rom? Good question. Many are geared towards different ways of using the device. Best advice is to READ descriptions and threads like the rest of us and do your own research.

Well the answer is simple - LOTS OF RESEARCH!!!
there is not the best one in general, but one that fits your needs.

Like the others said - and it of course depends on your preferences (i.e. type of apps, performance, appearance, etc.)
A good rule of thumb (ALL NOOBS TAKE THIS HINT!!) would be to look at the postings for recent ROMS and see how many responses there are to the thread. It could be a red herring if there have been a few bugs, but generally it indicates a popular ROM and from reading (yes read the initial posts please!) you can quickly determine if this might be a ROM for you. The responses from users will highlight any issues that may be specific to the software you'd like to run.
Maybe the mods can close this now - or maybe create a "Which ROM should you flash - read this first" Sticky that paraphrases this to prevent this weekly question.
if you are looking for a multimedia ROM (stable) i suggest Dutty's April 29 ROM
if you are looking for fast and fancy ROM i suggest ROMEOS 3.5
here ya go
But still like said above it has to be a ROM that fits ur needs.
cheers
Find the Best Rom! Ask 10 cooks get 10 best Roms
First Hard SPL your phone find a rom offering. Read what others say about it, then if it sounds like something you might like, Flash it. Then try another and another and keep going until you can answer that question for yourself. READ! for your self and learn. The bottom line is the best rom is a myth! it only can be the best if you say it is so. What I believe to be the Best you might Flash and think it sucks. Do some work on your own and learn! WiKi, WiKi, WiKi!
Hyperdragon ..
You can try Hyperdragon. I have been running it for quite some time now and have found it to be very stable and without almost no glitches..

My thing is, I am rather new to the ROM-flashing thing. I've quickly learned alot about how to do all this, and now what I'm lacking is a cohesive sense of what ROMs are out there that I can try on my phone - I haven't the time or the inclination to scroll through dozens of pages back through the Kaiser forum looking for ROMs to try. It would be nice to have a single sticky thread where all the available Kaiser ROMs are listed (in the Kaiser forum, and other similar threads for other phones in the other forums) that just hyperlink to the appropriate thread for each ROM.
What that gives the Noob especially is a list of all the ROMs they can try. I'm just guessing that I've seen even 1% of the available ROMs. I have no idea if I'm choosing one I really like, or one I settle on because I can't find the rest.
It's really little more than a question of convenience. By having a single list of all the available Kaiser ROMs, it makes it easy for me to look at them all and choose one. Such a thread does not need any discussion to be allowed, it's just a source of information. If people want to discuss a ROM, they can discuss it in the thread that is linked to from the main list.
Does this make sense?

Trolling for regulars
vikasraj dont worry mate this board is chock full of regulars who belive that anyone who comes here should read every single post, of course it is perfectly reasonable to ask for a quick list of popular roms but that would be far too easy and lets face it give the sad regulars nothing much to read, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the regular users here apart from the flashing info, they really don't add much apart from stupid pointless 'read the board' comments, I am here to find a new rom (the last one all the regs said was great is buggy as hell) and yes a rom chart would have saved a lot of time. Like you I have a life.
Forum a dictionary meaning
A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas
Did not the original message fall into this meaning.
By its very nature the posting of Roms is trying to compete with other roms.
So a thread that simply rates roms would be a good idea and give constructive comment and possibily the sort of feedback the rom builders are looking for and why they do what they do.
It would also help those that want to extend their experience, and not get frighten away by high minded comment.
Thats All
I suggest thread starter to just see the benchmarking of Kaiser ROM's done by one of Our friends out there in the kaiser forum. I will provide link whenever I get it but its better for now to search yourself for it. Go by facts & not by values. Hope it will help you. Good luck. I think we should move forward to help cookers in making ROM better.
Sorry but I could able to find only these ones.

Why are we doing this again ? I understand that people are (especially it seems the noobs ) incredibly lazy. No one wants to do their homework, no one wants to test drive. no one wants to think. Everyone wants someone else(no matter what their qualifications) to tell them what is the best.
The chefs here do not make these roms for you or me. They make these roms for the challenge and for themselves and then they share them with us. How offensive would it then be , to subject them to a competition .
It would be like going to a Hot Rod or Custom car show and judging people's hours , months or years of artistic and engineering work with a dismissive " that one sucks, not enough cup holders " guess what ? It wasn't built for you, it was shared with you. Your opinions are yours, why should chefs be forced to confront these ( mostly uninfomed opinions ) in a public forum.
Every rom has it's own thread to rate and evaluate the rom, and to try to work out whether it is the rom that is at fault or the user. That is more than enough discussion for the chefs to improve the rom.

Dave, if you are asking, I vote no, for subjecting our much appreciated chefs. to a beauty contest or prom king type thread for the benefit of the "lazy "
Just my opinion. Thanks for listening
this would be fine topic in the Kaiser generall forum. (alot of the people who hate these types of threads cluttering up the boards like myself dont generally read the generall forum very often I believe)
This isa rom DEVELOPMENT forum. Ie if your not either posting a new rom in development or about the process of cooking and development.....you should not start a new thread here. The Kaiser generall forum is a great place for this type of discussion.
also a good way to get a overall list of the most popular roms would be to sort this forum by how many posts a thread has....click at top. And that will continue to be useful as long as people only post new roms and development related topics in here.
This topic should be moved to the kaiser generall forum and it would be taken much better/ignored by the more senior members/admins

I've done MEGA testing, and these i have found to be the best ones overall for speed, and iphone looking. The ONLY reason i am asking about maybe burning these to a complete ROM is because of the following
-iPhonez (touchflo2d does the same sh*t freq.) closes out A LOT
-Opera also closes freq. Sometimes once every 10-15 seconds, sometimes not for a few minutes.
I usually have on the average of about 12.50-13MB of Program space Free. Is this not the best solution? I am assuming it IS since it will create the most amount of space by cooking them in a ROM, since i have seen available cooked ROM's with more programs then in my list, it will free up space, as well as not crashing 2 of the main programs SO often and easily (IE-iPhonez and Opera) because of them now being in the ROM instead of loading from memory space.
If not, what IS crashing them so often? And what CAN i do to stop the programs from crashing? Thanks for any insite and/or help for me. I've been trying SO hard and spending weeks, daily, mixing and matching, and reading, and learning, but can't seem to find any concrete answers.
Thread will be moved to the Q&A section. Please post in the right section and read the rules.
Well, gee, it WOULD be nice to follow the instructions if i actually got help when I DID post in the proper forum. Nice attitude from a moderator. Sad that as busy as this place is, no one is friendly enough to help.

My friend... please take care in your context, Nir moved your thread to a better place where people (such as myself) come to help those with problems. You will get a speedier reply in this section as there is a team who have voluntarilly given up their time to help those in need.
If you would like to help yourself and others to help you, try and give some more info about your device, or you will not get an answer at all.
Not wanting to sound like im on my high horse, just giving you a friendly piece of advice
i agree if youd have posted in the coreect place the moderator wouldnt have had to do your work for you
