Just had the Fuze delivered today and have a couple of questions I'd appreciate input on;
1) Will AT&T upgrade WM to 6.5?
(I have heard 6.5 will be out in May?)
2) What screen protector do you recommend?
[I've used Boxwave crystals before and they are real clear....but it has been awhile since I purchased one and wondering if they are still one of the best]
3) What case (professional looking) do you like? I want a good looking one,...that is functional, hooks to dress belt, and does not expose the screen to possible damage.
4) I have used Pocket Informant before and plan to upgrade to their new version(fyi). I have heard that the TouchFlo 3D is 'ok', but that there is a better UI by SPB called a mobile shell or something. What is the best route for the touchsreen?
5) Best value for the money on micro sd cards are the 8gb.....right? (I saw a Trend brand at New Egg for $19)
6) Any drop dead programs (utilities or otherwise) that are either mission critical or almost m.c.? [from a business perspective]
7) And the last question for those of you experienced with various phones,...I am 2 days into the 30 trial window with AT&T,....is the Fuze a good choice....say over the BB Bold? (they really don't have anything else comparable....oh...maybe the Moto bb looking one)
Thks!
Anyone have any input?
Well
Oficially, there will not be an upgrade to 6.5 for Fuze
But that is not important, as thanks to Devs on this site you´ll be able to install a 6.5 ROM that will be better than the "official" from WM, so donñt worry you´ll be able to install 6.5
Stay with an HTC device! this way you´ll be able to find almost anything for it!
BB, Nokias, iphoneys, etc I don´t like them...
Just my opinion

Hi guys just wondering if I could get some of your thoughts on my situation. Want to buy a new phone to replace my Xda Exec. The problem with my exec is that it is a bit bulky. Want to get something within the next few months, and cost is not a factor. A few of my choices for the replacement are:
-Samsung SGH-i600
*big fan of the slim design plus all connectivity options
-HTC Artemis
*the mouse seems cool but probably wouln't use GPS
-Nokia N95
*seems it has everything
-HTC TyTN
*wouldnt have to wait to buy it but I wanted to go with something different that slide out which I already had with UTStarcomm 6700
If you could pick one of these which would you choose and why? Also any other suggestions would be well appreciated...
Well personally:
Not the Samsung SGH-i600 - because it is a Smartphone, no touch screen, limited apps.
Not the Nokia N95 - because it runs Symbian.
The choice between Artemis and TyTN is a tough one. If you are sure you won't miss the keyboard and you don't mind waiting I would definitely recommend the Artemis. It has way more stuff.
i'd say Trinity
because it have 3g
Not the Samsung - too basic, not the Nokia (could be a decent phone if it ran a decent operating system - forget multiple apps under Symbian).
Artemis - slower processor than the Tytn, but a nice phone. But if you don't need built in GPS I'd go for the Tytn.
Richard
As with others, the candidates are..
==HTC Artemis
- I like it as it does not have a keyboard
==HTC TyTN (my choice)
- I like the WiFi (if I have to choose that with a GPS - can always have a GPS mouse in my car, IF I have a car)
Thanks
Thanks for the suggestions guys, must be right. Should just stick with a WM pocket pc phone. Probably go with the Artemis since the processor is faster; i really dislike how slow my Exec got at times.
Cant find no release date, guess i have to play the waiting game now.
i600 for me if you must
I believe GPS/ppc cannot be a phone at the same time, at least for now.
Not for serious/business use at any case.
best solution VGA ppc+small fast phone.
vga because its stupid to give so much money for ugly qvga with monster pixels.
my opinion.
depends on what you want to do...if you want to use it as a Phone first pda second then go for nokia or samsung because htc's GSM radio implimentation is BAD
if its a pda first thing then go for a ppc...which one would depend on which suits you
I have a contract Mobile thats just run out I have to keep contract so have to upgrade (gotta get anything you can for free right). Ive currently got a nicely customised Orange SPV M700 Running WM6 and about 32gb worth of memory cards (mostly 4gb SDHC, cheers for the patch ). Ive tried many Im not limited by network as I always get a complete new contract as you get better offers, and all work about the same. I have tried the iPhone and quite frankly its VV disapointing, got some really nice features, nice and thin but TBH I think I get better sound out of my M700, which I have hooked up to my amp for my morning alarm, however I love the browser its 1000 times easier than anything for WM phones, and the switch for switching between landscape and portrait is good (although my brothers sometimes crashes when doing it???), but overall it just cant be advanced and just doesnt have the support it needs. Ive also had a play with the Athena (well T-Mobile Ameo) and it seems slightly better than the M700 but its huge not something I can just carry round in my pocket.
So basically I have 2 choices just buy a phone that is selling well on ebay and make some money back, or upgrade my M700 to something else but what???.
Also Im tempted to just change my M700 for the white versioon and sell the black version I have just for a change cause I've yet to see any good replacement housings for the M700.
Upgrading Orange SPV M700
I can't suggest what the best phone is to upgrade to as I have recently taken out a contract on an Orange white M700 having had a M500 for 18 months and I am very happy with the phone. I did see a T-mobile windows phone with a slide out keyboard which looked quite nice, but I don't know the specs. By the way where did you get WM6 from as I have still got WM5 and I understand WM6 is a lot better?
Take a look through the Trinity section of this site, I know the phone your talking about its the TytnII I am tempted by it but it looks a bit fat for my liking...
my wizard is getting old and slow so I thought yesterday when I saw new htc P6500 and touch diamond that I need newer phone. should I wait and get diamond or just get cruiser now? what about other htc phones? no real need for keyboard since i got bluetooth one.
cruiser seems nice and low priced. gimme ideas and thoughts about those phones and maybe other.
diamond dont have a sdslot så you cant expand it's 4GB or use sdio devices
Between those two? the diamond obviously, if it's not too expensive for your needs. It's more advanced than the cruise, and has a much better UI that won't show its age as soon as old TouchFlo will (yes I know it's only one year old, this is a crazy world).
But my real advice is keep waiting. There are more new htc devices coming soon, and some from other brands too. If you don't need to change now, hold on and you'll have more new stuff to choose from.
Cheers!
I've got the LG KS20 coming tomorrow - that's just replaced my MDA Vario that 1) I was totally bored of and 2) I bricked anyway
I wanted something without a keyboard, unlocked, WM 6 out of the box and this one fitted the bill for me. Looking forward to a change.
Love the look of the HTC Diamond it looks stunning, but the price won't be, especially in the UK - it's currently listed for £480 without a contract and £200 on the contract I'm on.
There's always going to be something newer, bigger, better round the corner, so I always look at what my requirements are and then find a device that fits it that doesn't cost too much! Early adopters always pay the price and all that.
I am just wondering if Palm stops manufacturing WinMo devices like Treo Pro what are our other options?
We all love Treo Pro as I dont see any other device which gives us a qwerty keyboard which is always out, palm shortcuts, which runs WinMo PROFESSIONAL. This is the biggest advantage as if we see we will find that other devices which are like Pro run WinMo STANDARD which is non touch (HTC snap etc.)
So Treo Pro is the best of both worlds. Please suggest if there is any other device which is like Treo Pro and also touch screen. This is important as we needs to see where we go after Treo Pro....
In simpler words I need to know if there is another device which is like Treo Pro? Which should run WinMo Professional with QWERTY. I love the customisation capability of WinMo (try SPB Diary to replace your home screen and see). The best part is QWERTY keyboard (which is always there, you dont have to slide it out etc which actually makes is useless) and the touch screen. No other phone has it. Its the best phone and I am sad that Palm may not make it anymore. Other devices are more fun then productive. I cant see one device inclusing iPhone which can really compare snapshot view of SPB Diary on WinMo device. If you are a serious life organiser you will understand it.
Guys now reply.........................
Samsung Epix/Saga meet your requirements.
thanks dude! I took a note of that. Unfortunately, these are not available in India.
IIRC hp will be coming out with a QWERTY bar called iPAQ K3 however I think it is 240x320
thanks i have added it to the list. SO, we have now 3 phones which may be like treo pro. Although, I know I will miss the Palm shortcuts. Infact, WinMo is usable as a phone only in the formfactor of treo pro.
Another one is the Samsung SGH-i780 I think it is the EPIX/Saga counterpart for EU & Asia. However it too has been EOL'd.
I am keeping my GTP until it conks out and might get a Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 (it's QWERTY bar but is only WM Standard 6.1 with free update to 6.5)
thanks bnycastro!
I wonder why they create qwerty winmo with standard? Why cant they make it professional?
the Sprint Samsung Intrepid announced yesterday looks like it runs 6.5 Professional. It comes out this sunday so we should know alot more on it soon.
thanks jimmy
that samsung looks a lot like a blackjack.
the palm pro is where its at. by far the best treo ever, screw the pre with its 'you can't do crap to it' operating system. i plan on keeping my treo pro until sprint kicks me off my $30 sero plan.
you are right! Infact, I love it so much that I have bought one more so that i can still have it after the first one reaches its end of life, which however will be very long as i keep it in a protective cover all the time.
Its the last of a rare endangered specie, lol .
i very well might do the same thing. i dont want to spend more then $100 on a spare though, and problem is these very well MIGHT become collector items before they hit garage-sale prices. i could easily see these phones actually increasing in price forever more....
im sure sprint will have enough stock to replace it for the next couple years though. i pay that stupid insurance, so i should get a replacement pro if i ever need it. and since theyre still selling them i wouldnt doubt theyre still making a few somewhere... but when they do run out of stock, ill make them replace it with a touch pro 2

Resinis, you are right but the problem with touch pro2 is that it is NOT a 'always out keyboard'.
I think the only reson of having a PDA as a phone (which makes it useable at all) is a device like Treo Pro which makes it more user friendly than a Nokia. I like the size and the immesnse customisation capability that it gives me. It takes care of everything that I need. Organiser, phone, GPS navigation etc etc etc. But when i depend so much on it and then they stop manufacturing it then it is a serious problem as I manage my life with it.
Hi guys,
What it is I'm with T-mobile and I've been offer a few tariffs one includes free calls all day to all networks and free txt but not including voicemail or mms for £35pm + a handset on a 24 month contract or the same deal without the phone on a 12 month contract.
Also I was offered I think it's called the flex 35 - 900 minutes + my off peak calls to all networks from 7pm - 12am and all weekend with a handset on a 18 month contract.
The phones I was after Nokia N900 - Samsung Omnia Hd or the Hero, phonehone don't seem to have in stock apparently. Just want to check if my choices of phones are worth holding out for.
I would like the phone to have a large display screen, an easy touchscreen to scroll, not like my current htc diamond with it's lousy touchscreen and crappy internet - also I would like it to have tv-out with the option of play xvids on the phone and finally gps so I can install tomtom.
That's it...
Leo, Topaz or Rhodium are great choices to consider if $ is not the problem
$ really isn't but I kinda wouldn't mind staying away from htc for a year or so. Just check out your recommendations on youtube and it's like I'm still seeing my diamond.
I would not expect the N900 to be available from Operators... At least not in a near future. The reason is that the N900 is a fairly open Linux machine, which includes a root shell, meaning you can do anything you like on software terms. This is normally not what Operators like. They prefer to customize a perfectly good phone to death...
My opinion: either get an iPhone or an HTC.
Reasons:
1) iPhone is a great phone, no matter what people say.
2) You can get a pretty good discount for your phone with a contract. After the contract, the phone is probably still worth more than what you had to pay for it.
3) If you prefer Android or WM, go with an HTC: on this forum you will certainly find customized ROM's to get rid of locks and customisations made by the Operator.
Cheers,
vma
I recommend anything but the iPhone
Go for HTC's many choices...
Well I guess Htc it is, please I really hope the touch screen as improved significantly from the touch diamond. Is there a main one to really consider or as orbit3000 said either: Leo, Topaz or Rhodium?
Well I guess it's really up to the kind of things you want to do with you device, and what size you want your device to be...
- The Leo is huge and has a superb 4.3 inches capacitive touchscreen, which may please you if you are unsatisfied with your diamond touchscreen. Hardware-wise the Leo is a "new generation" phone that can handle a lot. Rumour says that it may get a WM7 upgrade in the future
- Topaz is the Diamond 2 and has a similar size but a larger touchscreen. The hardware is standard HTC with nothing spectacular
- Rhodium is more business-centric with the sliding keyboard for fast typing. It also has some advanced conf-call features that you may like if you use your phone for your work. Hardware is nothing special either, standard Qualcomm 72XX processor
I would suggest you to go in a shop to get a feeling of the size of the three devices as the Leo and the Rhodium are significantly bigger than your old phone.
