Ringtone of my favorite contact is different then I set it. It's some strange ringtone even tough I set some other ringtone. Till yesterday everything was fine, maybe because I installed some programs or?
I installed new spb, new core 1.32 and vito audio notes.

Hi Guys,
I desperately need a way to have my phone play different sounds when as sms is received based on which contacts or groups send the sms (exactly the way there is a setting for specific ring tone).
I am running Windows Mobile 2005 on an O2 Atom - latest ROM.
Is this possible? Any advice?
i was using mortring 0.97 version; simple app which allows you to set ringtones and sms tones on a per contact/group basis....but i think it had some wm2005 compatibility issues and this was later confirmed by other folks running wm2005. there's also ringo; similar app but the difference is mortring is free while ringo is not. tried it; i'm using a mio a701 and still it has some compatibility issues. i've noticed that for both the ringo and mortring; wm2005 seems to be able to handle sms tones...but for the ringtones the compatibility issues go back. sometimes the phone rings but there's no sound...other times the default ring tone comes back on. for now i've been doing some reading and so far i haven't come across a third party app that's really 100% for this kind of utility.
cheers
I recently ditched my Treo Pro for a Fuze, couldn't get around that 320x320 screen anymore.
One thing I miss, though, is that the Treo could assign separate MP3 ring tones to email versus texts or SMS, and could differentiate between Known (in Contacts) callers and unknown and give them separate ringtones. My Fuze doesn't appear to do this. I can assign separate sounds to emails, but none of my custom MP3 appear in the list. There isn't selection for Known callers at all.
I tried searching for custom cabs on the Treo, but nothing in the obvious places. Isn't there supposed to be a text file listing where the programs to install are so that manufacturer/provider customizations can run after a hard reset? Where would that be located? I want to see if the Palm customizations will work on another device.
thanks for any help.
The Mp3s need to be located in My Device\My Documents\My Ringtones
They will then appear in all the selections
And if memory is an issue, and want to use the memory card, create a folder called
My Ringtones on the memory card, and put em there...
That's actually where I keep the MP3s, still no dice for email notification. All the default ringers are there, none of my customs.
I use almost every one of the same customs from the same folder for contact ringtones and they work.
I miss HAL telling me there's a message for me....
What about separate ringtones for Known versus unknown callers? I just booted up the Treo again to make sure I wasn't nuts and it can definitely do that.
Is there a way to assign different ringtone sounds to different contacts?
Or any recommendation of a program that does that?
I read that Photo Contacts Pro is a bit buggy,
Open a contact...
Choose "Edit Contact"...
Choose "Ringtone"...
Et voila!
Not sure about the exact wording of the sequence, as I have the danish ROM.
You should also mention that the above method does not work for simcontacts, Only for contacts stored on the device.
thats great!thanks you all.I tried it and it works!
The MP3 Trimmer program is also a blast.Makes making mp3 ringtones & sms mp3 tones a breeze.
I actually meant notification sound. So when I receive a txt fro Bob, my phone will play one sound. When I receive a txt from George, my phone will play a different sound. How do I do that?
Thanks.
[Solved] I downloaded Handcent SMS app for free from the market, it allows you to set different notification sound to different contacts.
simple u go on contacts, click Bob or George.Menu, edit, scroll down to ring tone and choose whatever u want. This doesn't work with imported contacts thou

Click to collapse
Thanks for the reply. I have just tried that. But I found out that only works with phone calls, but not receiving SMS.
BTW, what do you mean it doesn't work with imported contacts?
Hello:
On my old Blackberry 9700 each contact has a separate ringtone for the phone number and their email address.
Is it possible to have separate ringtones for someone's phone an email address on the Skyrocket without putting a separate entry in the contact for each one?
If there is a way can someone enlighten this noob?
Thanks.

Download the app on the market called ringdroid its free. It will also allow u to use any music you have downloaded as a ringtone. And lets u choose how long the ringtone is, and what parts of songs u want to use
Thanks silver03wrx.
Ringdroid sounds like a ringtone making app.
I have the ringtones on the sd card. I just don't see a way to use separate tones for a single contacts phone number and a different tone for their email address without entering a separate contact for the phone number and another for the email address in my contacts. A lost of extra work.
I like to know when someone is calling me or emailing me. I can then choose to answer right away or not.

Ringdroid does allow you to assign a ringtone to a specific contact look at the attached picture
Yeah i dont think that allows you to seperate the email sound for the same contact though
Hi Silver:
I don't think it does either because I have CNN updates in the contacts with an email address along with a certain ringtone assigned to it & every time an update comes over it plays the default email tone.
This is a bummer because I like to know when family emails me since we're so far apart. Had each one of the siblings on a different tone so I knew right away who it was.
I guess blackberry will always have everyone beat when it comes to handling emails with ringtones.
Thanks for trying Silver.
Spring.
Try WhoIsIt in the market place. I think it might do what you want.
Hello:
Whoisit didn't get very good reviews.
I also found Enhanced SMS & Caller ID, and Ringo Pro out there that might bridge the gap. Gonna do more research tomorrow morning.
Thanks all.

I understand your frustration, I am also a former 9700 user. The thing I miss most is the centralized Sound Profiles, it's hard / impossible afaik to have profiles setup which will in turn change the alerts and notifications for all installed apps collectively.
Hi Promise:
I'm using Ringo Pro right now. It will ring a tone for phone calls & msgs.
Haven't found anything safe that will do different tones per contact for all three yet.
Will keep looking.
