Hi dear
I have Qtek 8300 ROM From T-Mobile ,it's come down am looking for rom for this mobile i try with the rom on T-mobile website but does not work with it . please help me ..
So what's the problem? You're in the right place! You can choose from a variety of new custom ROMs, e.g. WM6.1.
Or do you prefer to keep the original rom? Then, if you haven't reflashed it yet, you need to do a hard reset. Try to google or search here how to do it. AFAIR, it should look like holding both soft-buttons and then pressing the power on once. Then follow the instructions on the screen. But the keys combination may be different for your phone.
And before trying to flash the T-Mobile ROM, have you done a SuperCID? If not, a ROM from a different vendor won't install on your phone. You even may damage the phone this way! Just do a SuperCID once and you'll be able to flash any Tornado ROM.
I also have T-Mobile SDA with Windows Mobile 6.5, but a lot of people from GSM Shops says that I can get more money for it, if it would have T-Mobile Rom with Windows Mobile 5.0. I thought about that, but I can't find a Rom for this too.

Hello! i have a vodafone v1240 (qtek 8310) and i tried to update its rom and got stuck at 73% for hours. finally i unplugged it from pc and when i reset the phone it shows me just a white screen and i can't shut it down i must take the battery off. it doesnt want to connect with the pc again, in activesync wont recognise it. can u help me pls to get my phone back to life?
i suppose you have new a paper weight now .
cant guarantee but some people have recoverd the phone from this state.
what rom did u try to flash?
Ill suggest you try getting in to the bootloader (Plug the usb ,press and hold volume down and the press the camera button). If you see a 3 color band. Then way to go. Just flash the latest vodaphone V1240 rom
it doesnt want to work that way, it's not responding to this key combination. i tried to update with the latest update rom from vodafone vf-uk_v1240_aku2_v254832_ship.exe and got stuck. someone told me because it was slipped off and can be some hardware failure(i just got it repaired, the display was broken and had to be replaced) but it was working just fine after that, the win mobile 2003 second edition was good just that I want to update to the latest version from vodafone.do you have some other method of ressurection ??
I just read somewhere that from this state cannot be recovered (white screen of death) and my bootloader is crashed.
do you have knowledge if I can repair it by replacing the rom memory phone with a new one ?? (of course, at an authorised qtek service)
is your phone still under warranty??
may i know where do you stay/which country???
allow me sometime to check what part of the rom is flashed first.
That's because as you said your flash was stuck @ 73%.
if the bootloader is flashed first then it might be recoverable(can't guarantee though!), if its flashed at the end then you might want to get it repaired from a authorised repair center , trust me it will be costly as buying a new phone!
my phone has no warranty. i'm from romania but the phone was bought in italy. so can u tell me if the bootloader is still good? and how can i get in?
it was working just fine after that, the win mobile 2003 second edition was good just that I want to update to the latest version from vodafone.do you have some other method of ressurection ??

Are you sure its a Tornado, i did not know that any Tornado shipped with WM2003SE.
yeah maybe he had loaded the inappropriate rom.
it's a vodafone v1240 (qtek 8310) ...the update was an official rom from vodafone exactly for this model. yes it had win mobile smartphone 2003 se
I sent the phone to a very good service and it cannot be re-softed. I think the rom memory on the phone's board must be replaced.
so... I'm looking for somebody who has a damaged QTEK 8310 (VODAFONE V1240) or a rom memory chip for this model
I will pay for it because I want to repair my phone!
Hi guy, it's nothing to do with the rom memory. The phone you got is not a real Tornado, but you tried to update it by loading a Tornado ROM, it's a dangerous action, it may damage the IPL and SPL!
yeah i insist. maybe he's just confused or what. his device is not a Tornado. it runs on wm2003se os.
ok let's get all clear here. it's a vodafone v1240 (search on google to find out more) and it is similar to qtek 8310. I tried to update with an official rom for V1240 its not an innapropiate rom or a modified one. Still looking for someone who has a broken VODAFONE V1240
It's very clear, you loaded an inappropriate rom, because your phone is not a real Vodafone v1240. A real Vodafone v1240 shipped with Windows Mobile 5.0, TI OMAP 850 CPU and Wi-Fi block, but your phone shipped with Windows Mobile 2003 SE, TI OMAP 750 CPU and without Wi-Fi. I give you some more information about Vodafone v1240, it's made by HTC, which is a mobile device ODM. The same device sold in defferent areas got defferent names.
Vodafone v1240 = Qtek 8310 = imate sp5 = Dopod 577W
As I know, Dopod 577W got a brother Dopod 577, which have the same specifications as your phone got. Dopod 577 or your phone can not load official rom for Dopod 577W or Vodafone v1240, because they got defferent board and CPU.
i think it falls in cases like in t-mobile sda(wm5 usa version). they also have t-mobile sda II(wm5 europe version) and t-mobile sda II(wm2003se usa version). they almost have the same appearance and form factor but different os. so if your unsure of what kind of device you have, check its system info carefully. but in your case i think you got the inappropriate ROM. unless you show us bits of system info of your device.
cheers
u know u got me all confused. so bluehanson u're trying to tell me that i have a Dopod 577 with Vodafone label on it, who looks just like V1240?
the model is this:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=471
but it had on it Win Mobile 2003 SE cause I checked before the crash occured.
the rom i was trying to update is vf-uk_v1240_aku2_v254832_ship.exe
based on your link, it is indeed a wm5 tornado smartphone. the rom you loaded is not intended for your device.
Maybe when the screen was "repaired" (as described in an earlier post), the shop just put in the guts for a 2003se edition phone? Perhaps worth checking with them?

ericjm so what's the real V1240 model designed for this rom? cause now i'm totally confused
i dont know what led you to believe it had 2003se,but all tornados are loaded with wm5... and i believe that its not the issue... i think sometime while flashing your rom your phone lost connection with your pc hence your phones curent state... cause you said it stopped at 72% or sumthing... when flashing even with the wrong rom it will go to 100% then not restart... stopping before it got all the way to 100% accidentally or intentionally could lead to a bricked phone... just my 2 cents...
Im currently living abroad in Germany and have purchased a Kaiser via T-Mobile, branded as MDA Vario III. Well I love the device but my german sucks and the whole OS is in german. Is there anyway I can flash to ROM to get an english version of the OS? If I did this would it still work in Germany via T-Mobile or is there some kind of lock to the current ROM? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yep! Just HardSPL, and then select an English ROM (most are) and flash.
Read the Sticky in this forum for guide lines on how to flash, and common problems and thier solutions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1846653&postcount=800
Go there and READ and READ. (Read the Wiki first). You will find all your solution there. Everything you need explained over there.
I will describe the procedures you will need:
1. Back up your stuff
2. Charge up your phone to 100% and connect to your pc with usb make sure ActiveSyn can see your phone
3. CID or SIM unlock your phone first if it is necessary then.
4. HardSPL your phone (You can find the information in the Wiki)
- If you encounter White Screen Problem, check the HardSPL White Screen
Issue - Solved!
5. Find a Rom that you like
6. Find the radio rom that rom supports
7. Flash the rom
8. Do a HARD RESET when you see the "Tab the screen to setup windows mobile..."
9. Flash the radio rom
10. You are DONE!!!!!!!
As long as it's GSM band, then it should all work. You might have to manually setup the 3G network for Germany on your phone.
Thanks for the feedback! My main concern was not knowing if it would work with my carrier after I do the ROM.
However the 3G network is a BIG deal 3G is soooo much faster than GSM. Is it even possible to manually setup the network afterwards?
Thanks again, you have been great!
you can always setup your 3G network manually afterwards. It's just a different rom version. It's like you install English version of Winxp on your PC instead of the German version. You can still setup your wireless connection for your PC.
Sine you are in Europe, I would suggest you use Dutty's WM6.1 Rom (The bluetooth has a bit of issue - not able to receive file transfer, but he's working on the RTM version with the fix). Dutty's rom is cooked based on the Vodafone rom (He's in England), so I would suppose there should be pre-set 3G setting for Germany as well.
Hi my name is Kostas i'm from Greece and i have a touch pro.i need some answers so i can do some update at my rom from 6 to 6.5.i found i rom that i like but i have some questions.
1.What CDMA is and what GSM,what is the difference and how i know which one i own.
2.To update to another rom i have to Hard SPL my phone?and what is this?do i hve to unlock something?
3.If i flash my touch pro can i install the Greek Language?
4.The rom i found is this
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511146
, is it good?which one should i download from this one,the Regular or the MSVC?
Thank for any answer in advance please help me to work it out.
The easiest to explain (without going into the technology) is that a GSM phone most common has a SIM card while the "SIM" in a CDMA phone is a fixed install, you as a user / customer cannot change. Since you are in Europe I assume you do have a SIM card thus a GSM phone.
Most ROMs here in the forum if not otherwise specified are GSM and you do need to flash any than your carrier provided ROM.
You must have your phone SECURITY UNLOCKED (which is different from SIM unlocked) to flash a NON Raphael/Fuze Radio.
The ROM you quote IS a GSM ROM.
More on the CDMA the subject can be found here http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...+cdma&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
So my touch pro is GSM?What tools do i need to have wm6.5?which rom i mean and what tools?to SECURITY UNLOCK the phone what do i need can you help me out with some steps?does this rom is any good?it will work on my phone?
As mentioned to you in the Energy 3.0 thread, please DO some reading!
You first need to backup your PIM data (contacts), flash hardSPL (please look up the thread and download the software).
Afterwards you can flash a non carrier bound ROM (i.e. Energy ROM where you posted as well).
WITHOUT hardSPL you may BRICK your phone or get STUCK at 0% loading for ages.
Note:
Be aware that you have an original TouchPro not a branded ATT Fuze so you should read up front to get the right keyboard layout back, you'll find the "how-to" here in the forum.
ok 2 more questions for you please sorry if bothering.about hardSPL could you send the page to download it?after i do hardSPL i update with the rom i send you?at the post of this rom it says Download from EU Server > Regular / MSVC which i use Regular or Msvc? And last with right keyboard layout back you mean to bring back Greek language?
hardSPL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
ROM version valid 2.0 and 3.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3749191&postcount=1627
Keyboard... look yourself
i still don't understand what you mean with the keyboard.i downloaded hardSPL and the MSVC rom i send you.now i'm ready to flash my phone?
First you have to flash hardSPL (read the corresponding thread) to allow to flash a non carrier provided ROM.
Afterwards you can flash the NRG ROM you want.
If you have Greek characters on your keyboard I cannot help you but answers HOW TO get the right keyboard layout are in the forum.
If you have the original TouchPro engl. layout just read NRG's first post!!!
If you own a Touch PRO, use the "Keyboard Selector" application under Utilities (after you flash the ROM) to select the proper keyboard layout to use. The ROM comes with the Fuze layout by default.

If you really don't know what you are doing, read and learn like all of us did and in two weeks or so you'll be up to speed.
Hi everything worked fine the only thing i have to fix is the Greek language now.thanks for your help.
kostas I'm really not the one to ask since I simply do not know exactly what to do.
You have to change the MUI value in the reg to get the greek characters and keyboard working. Do a search for keyboard mapping or for MUI codes.
There is a Tilt ROM chef called B16B in the Tilt forum who is from Greece, you may contact him he may be able to help.
Perhaps there's something in this search but I don't know
http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&...G=Search&cx=000825531964825142534:cqr2sjirilw
I was reading the Wiki/FAQ and found this thread and still have some questions on the ROM Radio configuration.
I have a tilt I got from work and the reception is attrocious, so I am under the impression that the ATT ROM and Radio have more affinity for the ATT network than Tmobile (which is my guess because my old Wing had much better signal). What I notice from the list of Kaiser ROMs (on the Wiki) is the only official Tmobile ROMs are for the Netherlands and the UK. My guess is that I wouldn't want to load those since I live in the US, plus the official OS build is 19124 in the ATT tilt instead of 19212 in the other builds.
My question is: Can I mix other Radios to better work on the Tmobile network? Do I need to clear my ROM from the official ATT to another HTC ROM? Does the ROM clear the Windows build so there wouldn't be a compatibility issue, or does it only work for the cell phone service (device communication portion sort of like a DOS on windows 98) and therefore the OS build is independant of the ROM and Radio? Do ROMs and Radios need to be properly paired or can I trial and error it?
I've been looking for some of the answers but the weren't overly appearant from the FAQ and Wikis. Hopefully I didn't gloss over the easy answers somewhere on the site.
Any thoughts? I can start doing the trial and error method, but if I can get some confirmation that I won't brick my phone that would be awesome. Also, if there is any general "method to the madness" in terms of trying the Radios out, I would appreciate it.
This is where you should start:
Flashing Your First Kaiser Rom
The most important consideration for flashing any phone: MAKE SURE YOU HARD SPL (if you are using a Tilt, I recommend 3.56 as that is what AT&T officially used in their last ROM). That way, if you screw up a flash, you can just flash to another radio/ROM without worrying about bricking your phone. Press the Camera+Power button+use your stylus to reset the phone to bootloader to see if your phone is already Hard SPL'd. You should see a 3.28, 3.29, 3.34, or 3.56 at the top left of the screen when the tricolor screen pops up; you can just reset your phone after looking to get back to your OS). If, and only if, your phone is Hard SPL'd, read on...
>Can I mix other Radios to better work on the Tmobile network?
Of course. For example, I am using the emobile radio (1.71.09.01) on my Tilt. See: The Ultimate Radio Thread for more.
>Do I need to clear my ROM from the official ATT to another HTC ROM?
No, you can flash the radio only if you want.
>Does the ROM clear the Windows build
Not if you're flashing just the radio.
>...and therefore the OS build is independant of the ROM and Radio?
The OS build is independent of the radio. Best to think of the ROM as the OS, and the radio as how your OS communicates with your phone...
>or can I trial and error it?
That's the whole point of flashing just the radio--finding which one works best for you.
Thank you for the information. I verified the Hard SPL (3.56) so it looks like I am good on that front.
I just want to verify something you said before I actually do this (since the RUU tutorial told me ROMs can brick my phone and you mentioned Radios are similar in that fashion). The radios listed from the Ultimate ROM/Radio Thread are listed by WMx.x version, not by the associated ROMs. Since I am using the officially released ROM from ATT my version of WM is 6.1, therefore any of the Radios under the 6.1 header are available for flashing to my phone.
Is that correct?
Thanks again and in advance.
Anyone know of a new link for the latest Hard SPL 3.56? I keep on trying to download on rapidshare and I am denied (cause I am a non-subscriber). If there is a mirror that anyone knows of I would appreciate it. I keep searching around and cannot find one.

Zelendel you are awesome. Thank you very much.
I looke din the ROM section but none are listed as CDMA, are there any windows mobile 6.5 ROMs for CDMA TP2?

http://www.sskusers.net
One of the most stable ROM's available.
I havn't flashed yet, but I did download the 2 latest WM 6.5 VZW releases as of 11/18. Must I absolutely have an internet connection on my PC to even use the Hard SPL ? All I have is what comes on my phone through VZW. There is no cable or dsl where I live. Am I SOL with flashing my TP2?
you should be able to unlock and flash directly from your SDcard...check ppcgeeks...they're more CDMA flavored over there
Check this thread US Cellular just released the Touch Pro 2 with 6.5 on it. There has been work started on making various ROMs from it, 'stock' and custom...

I have tried most of the roms out their (Energy, SSK, Mighty, Elite, currently using BuildOS to cook my own roms) So far (until I tweak my own rom to perfection) Mighty Rom tops em all. It is more a business type of rom without alot of bells & whistles but I like that because I can just install my own programs on to my storage card and not have all the bloatware on my rom space. Leaves over 100mb of free memory after a soft reset. Definitely a must have rom.

PRBajista 9:
Good news for you then, he has already checked in on the thread I linked to, so he will probably be releasing a new ROM based off of that before too long.
EDIT: Juggalo_X says there is an upload set for tomorrow...
You cannot unlock using storage card method, only flashing of ROMS will work that way. The HSPL requires an internet connection on your PC so it can check for updates, phone broadband can't be used in this procedure since it will be in the middle of unlocking. I am SOL on this one. Unless there is another method to unlock SPL on Verizon, I wont be able to flash. Friggin sucks
