Stuck pixels...very strange - Touch Pro, Fuze General

So something really weird just happened.
I had my phone charging. When i pick it up, i notice that there's a portion of the screen thats stuck.
It shows the left and right soft keys from the home screen and some of the tf3d icons. At first i tought it was the phone lagging or stuck. But even after a soft reset, taking taking the battery out, and even hard resetting, my screen still showed the left and right soft keys and the icons. I can even see them in the splash screen.
Very bizarre. I contemplated flashing stock os and spl, and try to get a replacement. But about 20 minutes later, it slowly disappeared.
I wish i could have taken a picture just to show you.
Just wanted to share.

something similar happend to me.. it was after i was using you tube some of the pixels on my home screen where still red and white like where the youtube logo normaly is.. i tried a few thigns but lukly mine went back to normal after a soft reset.. but it hasnt happend again since.. hows ur battery life. cuz wow mine is not good.. im always carryin a car charger and charge it at home as much as possible bc i dont want to be stuck with out a phone when im out

Same here, it could be the software driver for the LCD screen. It doesn't refresh the pixels sometimes and we get this ghost image for a while...

Help with Htc Touch Pro, it woke up with stupid

Srry title is supposed to say Help with HTC Touch Pro for sprint....it Woke up with a bad case of stupidity
So i wake up 2day and i find that my Sprint Htc Touch Pro's screen is like jumping around like crazy...the touch screen still works and all but it moves around non stop. i can still make out where lets say the all the button are so i can still find my way around the phone but its sooooo annoying. so i pressed the restart button on the botton hoping it would fix it and when is turns back on it just goes 2 a blue screen. so i pressed the button again and now a green screen which soon turns white. pressed again and not its a black screen with the logo Touch pro on the bottom and the red little numbers and letter on the top...(the Touch Pro logo is usually in the middle and the Numbers and letters on the bottom....) so it finally loads up and the screen is still messed up. so i went crazy, i got home from school and i saved all my contacts but coping the Pim file to my 1gb memory card and did the clear storage to once again hopefully fix everything. well it didnt but atleast i still hav my contacts. ha ha...(im laughing so that i dont cry) everything still work though, i can send txt, talk on the phone, and do everything else....but cant see anything cuz he screen is jumping around. and no im not an imbecile and messed up on the modding and messed the phone up...or else it would done this a looong time ago.... so any help will b soooooo helpful. oh and i took out the battery and put it back in the still doesnt fix anything. sometimes the screen stays blue and doesnt do anything...*tear falls on keyboard* lol
have you tried a hard reset?
i did...i went into clear storage and did the whole 1234 and then press yes. didnt do anything beside erase everything and then go back 2 crazy jumping screen....
Any fixes?
Black_Yoshi,
I was wondering if you found any solutions to your "screen jumpiness". I have got the same problem happening on my Touch Pro. Just started happening acouple days ago. Cant put a finger on what caused it, sprint will probably say water damage. I have the TEP except its my 3rd one in 12 months so they will cancel the program..
Any luck? Thanks
Flickering
YOur display is most likely going out. That started happening to my touch pro and with in three days the screen just went black so i took it the the sprint store and they change the screen display

Att Fuze black screen need help please! Not a bad flash issue.

Hi all,
I am at my wits end on this problem if anyone can offer any adivice it would be greatly appreciated. So let me give a recap of what has occured thus far. The water damage tag for some reason turn pink thus i am unable to get warranty exchange. I am pretty certain that the phone has never been expose to any water of anything of that sort, but i do live in houston, tx so might be humidity or what not that cause the tag to turn. Anyways.
1. This all started after i flashed RRE 5.2 RC3. Initially after a successful flash everything seem normal and fine. Then next morning i woke up to a frozen screen with many verticial lines running up and down the screen was almost unreadable. Initially i thought it was a bad flash or just random lock up. I did a hard reset and tried to enter the bootloader. Black screen, it does seem like the backlight is coming up but nothing on the screen. I can hear the phone power on and boot successfully into windows. Activesync connects i can browse the contents of the phone.
2. After flashing to stock att rom and stock htc roms same symptoms. So at this point i am thinking crap bad LCD screen. so I ordered both the digitizer and lcd screen for good measure. I replaced them hoping that a bad LCD was all. replaced both screens and i powered on the phone. same problem. black screen. The phone still powers on and boots into windows. Activesync still connects and i cna still reflash the phone.
3. I work extensively and do both desktop pc and notebook repair. I am not new to dealing with small electronic repairs. but at this juncture i am unable to identify the cause of hte malfunction. i am hoping maybe some of the gurus here might be able to shine some light on the subject.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I would have followed the same approach; your description makes it sound like it might be some kind of backlighting issue at first read. I'm inclined to think it might be a cold connection (bad connector) on the main board.
Silly question, what happens if you power up the phone with the keyboard exposed?
*EDIT* Not sure if you have been here yet: http://www.mikechannon.net/
Cheers,
i just tried to power up the phone with keyboard exposed. Powers up the same as with the keyboard hidden. Still boots up fine but black screen. I already have the service manuel dowloaded. i have checked around with several repair places both local and on the web. Seems like no one has any parts for the att fuze/touch pro gsm except for the lcd and digitizer and a speaker.
its quite possible that it is a main board but as the same time it might be something as simple as a ribbon cable. i have contacted htc about doing a possible repair and they want wayyyy too much for just a main board repair almost $400 USD.
Anyone have a bricked/ non working touch pro they would like to sell ? =P

Could be a bad ribbon cable ... and firmly pressing around the front/back of the unit shows no change?
pressing the phone front and back show no changes to display. in a very dark room I can see that there is light emitting from the display but its just the screen is not displaying anything visable. this occured both before and after i changed out the screens. I'll do another visual inspection of all the boards to see if there is any bad resistors burnt out circuits etc.. but i didn't notice anything mentionable during my first 2 inspections. Maybe 3rd time is the charm.
Thanks for all the feedback thus far Hilaireg it is quite appreciated. All this venting has at least made me feel 1000% better than after i replaced my lcd and still same problem at least i don't feel like a complete idiot!
Sorry I couldn't be of much help ... you've done all the steps a seasoned hardware person would do.
Do post back to let other folks know if you get it back up and running.
Cheers,
you have a pm fkoong.
I have possibly the same problem. Phone got wet, dried it out for 2 days (in a container of rice). Phone worked but had "water marks" on screen that disappeared after two days and everything was fine for about 2 weeks. Then one day (happened to be humid misting rain eve in Charleston) the screen is blank (hint of backlight only). A soft reset and it seems OK for about 1hr, then blank again. The hard resest screen displayed OK (readbale text etc), but didnt work. But as I write this, I retry to document it results correctly and the NATF ROM is reloading and the screen works! We will see how long!!
Well.. not that long, the end of the ROM load and it went blank again, seems like a video driver problem. The Press VoluP to boot does show some red artifact.
Trying hard reset again (No SIM no uSD)
The NATF v4.4 loads and gives me the Tap screen, Align Screen, stylus, loads customization, opera, tf3d, then loads a bunch of files under ...... and then the screen goes blank again, seem like what happened last time, so Ill try loading a fresh ROM copy... later

Orbit 2 White Screen need help.

Hi all.
I recently came into the posession of one of these awesome devices.
my only problem is that when turned on, the screen comes on but is just pure white.
the device seems to boot up ok as you can hear all the noises in the background, also the digitizer works as the backlight comes on when you touch the screen and you can hear windows mobile clicking away.
could this be the lcd thats broken? or could it be an issue with the mainboard?
anyone have any ideas? or have had the same problem?
i just dont wanna go out and buy a new screen to find out thats not the problem lolol.
(btw i have tried hard reseting multiple times and that dosent seem to be the problem)
thanks all.
Um how du know that you have HR properly if you cannot see the screen, or can you see it on the HR screen?
Also if you can can you see the bootloader, and have you tried a different rom, never know it may work
heya chris, thanks for the reply.
reason i know it has hard reset ok is i used a htc touch next to it to guage where the setup screen (screen calib etc) buttons were and tapped on the digitizer unitll it got to the main screen and reset itself after customisation (took friggin aages to do that lol)
then managed to fudge it to get media player running by using the arrow buttons etc.
sayin that what combo of buttons do youse to HR. ill give it a try if theres another way ;-)
For me its ok and windows key, the one beneath the send and end keys
Then when booted it will say "blah" and press send to restore. Press send then it will take about 15 seconds or so to restore then it reset's and boots up again.
To do the bootloader its the camera button and reset, but i dont know if thats helpful if you cant see the screen!!
Um is it still under warrenty if so go that route and if not try taking it apart and then try to see if any of the screen connectors are loose i think that someone has done this already on here with pictures if you want some help with it.
tried the hard reset again and still met with the same white screen. dang...
as for warranty, its an ex business phone i got through my work so no warranty, and i have since stripped it down 3 times to look for faults.
have tried slotting the ribbon cable in and out of its socket and had no luck.
hmm i would say maybe new motherboard or screen, which you prob already know by now.
Apart from that im out of ideas as to what to say would be a solution for the problem with it or how to fix it without replacing parts
cheers for all your help chris.
i think ill just have to take the dive and order a new screen.
god i hope its the screen lol

Help! Xoom Screen went really dark and now when I turn it on its blank!

Yesterday, I was watching netflix, when out of the blue my xoom screen went really dark. At first I thought it froze up/randomly shut off, so I did the power+up vol reset, and it rebooted, but the Motorola logo was so dark I could hardly see it. It would still boot up just fine, but everything was so faded that I had to hover right over the screen and squint in order to see it. I was able to navigate around a little bit, till the screen went totally blank(on, but black).
I tried playing with it just a couple minutes ago but it wont turn on, which hopefully means the battery finally died so I can recharge it to see if that makes any difference(I dont think it will, but crossing my fingers anyways).
Now..I'm THINKING this is a hardware issue because even in recovery, the screen was still super super faded. I've restarted it since the screen went totally blank, and Its got nothing now. My rom I'm using was a Team EOS nightly, I think from some time last month, and I have a Canadian market wifi xoom.
P.S. The power button will still turn the screen on and off..and after the screen went black It still made the 14% battery left noise.
Any suggestions at all!? As appealing as the Nexus 7 is..I like my xoom..and I dont feel like spending money on another tablet when i've only had this one since last April.
TL;DR My xoom screen went so dark the colors were pretty much non existent, and the screen was still super faded in recovery/during the boot sequence. Now it only responds to the power button some of the time, and will reset(I'm assuming)when I hold UP VOL+Power. I'm using an older EOS Nightly, and This happened out of the blue with only a slight over clock.
Screen being super dark is usually the back light. Sorry I can't help.
Unfortunately sounds like your LCD back light is broken. So what you're going to have to do is replace the whole LCD screen on the XOOM which can cost quite a bit. Good luck!
Shameless selfbump, but interesting thing is the backlight comes on, just nothing shows up. Did the xoom just manage to brick itself in the middle of a movie on netflix? Also, If I plug the xoom into my computer, the prompt pops up almost immediately showing all the stuff that is ON the xoom. Thoughts?

Screen randomly turns off but phone still on, backlight often stays on

Hey guys, i'll try to explain the situation as best i can below, hopefully someone can work out what is wrong.
My phone is about 16 months old. About 2 months ago i dropped it twice within the space of a couple weeks. There were a few cracks along the screen, however it wasn't very noticeable and i wasn't going to bother having it fixed. The problem started a couple of weeks ago when i went to grab it out of my pocket, however i found out the screen was black and it wouldn't turn on. I don't really know how to describe it but it was acting very strange...
- The screen would have white/gray bars all over it then turn off, then it would do the same with very thin vertical lines that were white/gray/other colours...
- When i get the screen on, it generally turns off again within 30 seconds, however it can stay on for a few minutes.
- If the screen is on and i press the lock button, it almost certainly won't come back on.
- Restarting the phone or holding the power and volume button nearly always gets the screen to come back on. It often then restarts but turns off again shortly after.
- The phone is otherwise still working when the screen goes off; the notification light stays on and i hear messages etc coming through
- The backlight often stays lit, revealing a gray screen opposed from total black. Sometimes it does not stay lit however.
- When the screen came on it was often unresponsive to touch
I had the screen replaced yesterday by a phone repair shop and the phone is still not right. I have factory reset the phone and also wiped the partition cache. Other than that it is still not working. IT seems to be working better... The screen always seems responsive to touch when it is on, and it doesn't seem to be turning off as often. It generally starts up and works fine when i start up by holding the power button and down volume button together... However even still it sometimes just flashes up with a few thick white/gray and black lines on the screen..
Does anyone know what can be causing this and how i can resolve it? If you need any more information please let me know and i will try provide it. I could try get some pictures of what the screen is doing when i finish work. Thanks guys, i appreciate any input.
EDIT: I managed to get a pic of what i mean by the thin vertical lines all over the screen. This just appeared when i tried to restart the phone after it the screen had once again stopped working. The imgur link is gIFMGD6
Anyone have any ideas?
Hey, did you ever figure this problem out? My phone just started doing the same thing. Can't find much info about it.

Yeah, i had the screen fixed hoping it would fix it, however that didn't work. Turns out it was the motherboard, don't know what was wrong with it in particular other than it was simply going faulty. Had someone replace the motherboard on it for $50 and have had zero problems since! Hope that helps you.
Thanks for the response. I tried replacing the screen too with no luck. Unfortunately the same place that replaced the screen said it would cost $400 to replace the motherboard!!! The phone cost less than that so it looks like I'm gonna buy a new one.
