DIAMOND T-mobile (GSM) battery 1350mAh Cover Door? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Accessories

Hi
I have HTC Diamond T-mobile (GSM) version and i would like to buy a larger battery (1350mAh).
Does it means that i will need to change the diamond cover door
If so what is the highest battery size I can fit in to the diamond without changed the cover door.
Is there a difference between the batteries of the GSM and the CDMA versions
thanks guys

The "official" 1350 battery comes with a new door, it's only slightly thicker and has a matte finish instead of shiny.
I'm not aware of any larger batteries that will fit under the oem cover.
No, the CDMA battery is completely different.

thanks
thanks for your replay

The GSM and CDMA batteries are the compatible for providing power, but the doors aren't interchangeable, and it's likely that you won't get a battery meter if you use a battery designed for a model of phone other than yours.

I have the official extended battery, very happy with it.
IIRC, the official extended cover is the only extended cover that has a camera lense shield.

Hey vale what do u mean by camera lense shield in extended cover?

Like the original cover, there is a clear shield for the camera, same for the extended cover. All the aftermarket ones that I've seen don't have the clear shield at the camera hole, so dirt and dust can get in easier.

Flat covers available?

Am I the only one who finds it very distracting that the diamond tilts when lying on a flat surface when you're operating it?
I wonder which devil designed that back cover...
Are there flat replacements available?
the xda version got a nice flat backcover with a slip-proof surface. i like this one more than the original bling bling high gloss cover...
nice that your xda has a better cover, but where can we buy new covers......
Hmm... is there any well know company producing such stuff, so we know where to look?
My wish: a back cover like the O2 one (not glossy), but with an extra camera protection, e.g.: simply a retractable black piece of plastic would be enough.
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=166209
Check that out - they've listed it as a Diamond battery cover but the location of where the camera lens cover is, looks to be more like a battery cover release button. Hopefully there are flat covers coming out from HTC.
Thanks! I think it's the correct one.
N.B. The product image is for illustration only, not the actual bettery cover.

Damn.. I guess still no flat back battery covers then.
Can any one who owns an XDA Diamond (the one from o2) tell me, if the see through lens cover on the flat back still lessens the quality of the camera pics, or if this has changed in comparisson to the prism version?

I lost the back cover to my O2 XDAII a few years ago. I went to an O2 shop to see if I could buy one and they gave me one for free! As the display dummies have their back covers removed and an anti theft sticky pad on string attached. Maybe worth going to your local O2 store and seeing if they will give you the flat cover.
Hmm, I don't really know where to put this post and I didn't feel like my question justified a new thread. Is it possible to pop the piece of plastic, on the back of the diamond, "protecting" the camera lens, out? That should raise the quality of the camera snapshots by a nice margin.

sure it is possible and sure it will improved camera quality, but you will have some more dust getting into your device whitch would be the reason for me not to do so and but often clean the cam-protection.

To the dust issue: I'm planning on putting a thin and perfectly fitting round seal, normally used for screws, between the cover and the device

well- but then you run the danger of hurting the qualtiy cover inside the phone (the glass cover on top of the camera).
nevertheless: best would be to have a shutter - hopfully any company release a solution - soon!!!
Anyone found MDA style back cover?
Yes I too hate the shinny, wonky, non symetrical, dirt attracting back cover.
Has anyone seen the MDA (XDA) style rubberised back cover for sale? Assuming it fits of course.

Ive asked in separate thread about possibility how to customize plastic back cover. My idea was to either airbrush backcover with standard black or use special ruberized layer. But I dont know how to make that kind of layer I guess Ill have to google to find some option

and i would say no...a vendor would have to create a special "diamond shaped" cover for our phone. the primary difference (in using the GSM cover vs the Sprint cover) is the difference in the charger receptacle. also, i ordered/received an OEM HTC extended battery from Expansys that included the extended battery cover for the GSM Diamond and i can tell you IT DOES NOT FIT the Sprint Diamond. the T Mobile UK version of the Diamond has a grey colored extended battery cover shaped like the Sprint Diamond. hopefully that one fits; however, it's not yet available for the 1340 mAh battery.

I agree the Sprint Diamond will not fit the GSM Diamond because I already tested it, the Sprint Diamond is a bit smaller than the GSM Diamond and the top and bottom lip of the back cover is slightly rounded. but I did bought the rubber skin for the Sprint Diamond
Get the battery cover for the P3702, which is essentially a diamond with the flat battery cover. I think the phone is already released in taiwan, so try to see if you can get a oem one from ebay...

do yo have a link and/or a source for that battery cover?
The GSM Version's back cover WILL NOT FIT the CDMA diamond.
I ordered the 1800mah battery and cover and while the battery fit, the back cover did not.

2800mAh Galaxy S i9000 battery at DX $17.50 w/ free shipping

I just ordered a 2800mAh battery meant for an i9000 from dealextreme.com
Samsung Galaxy S i9000 2800mAh battery I'll report back once I get it.
Hopefully it works, it doesn't seem that much thicker than the stock one.
I plan on making my own custom back cover out of sugru, or it's cheaper substitute, oogoo.
If you haven't heard of Sugru, check out some projects made with it here. It's got some amazing properties, and is easy to work with. I really like the idea of putting 4 sugru bumpers on the corner of my phone to protect it in-case of a fall.
If that link doesn't work, just goto www.instructables.com and search for "sugru".
Please document an instructable to make the backcover if the battery works. This sounds like an interesting project!
Do you plan to buy a cheap hard case cover from ebay, then cutting a hole through the back for the battery and putting the sugru over it? That might be an easier than making your own cover from scratch.
It seems to me like the battery will work for the phone, but you might have to charge it in a standalone charger.

Good luck. That picture makes it look about twice the thickness of a stock battery.
Most extended batteries are around 4mm extra thicker. but since this is only 2800, might be 1mm less thicker than those 3200mah ones. you might be able to pull it off by using a cheap hardcase and sugru

Any cases out there to accommodate an extended battery

Would like to upgrade to a 3500 but will not sacrifice the protection my active x case gives me.
Extra 5mm of battery is better protection than any case. No case will work with the extended battery. The market is too small. There is talk that one would be released thats compatible with the 2800 Yoobao battery, which is the exact same size as the 3500, but that is all talk at this point.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm torn because I can't imagine going without a case, but it seems like we have no options at all. I emailed Seidio about a case for their extended battery and this was their reply:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Seidioonline. Sorry we currently have no development plans for a case that would be compatible with the Innocell 3000mAh Extended Life Battery.
Your business and continued satisfaction is of great importance to us here at Seidioonline Customer Service, so feel free to contact us at (832) 204-1118 with any questions or concerns.

I emailed the eBay seller of the 2800 mAh battery and he said:
Sorry, it should say February 1. The case will be a TPU (a harder rubberized version that is rigid yet flexible). The material is pretty nice. It will go over the phone and the door. I will offer a combo deal, but for former customers they can get the same price separately.

So come February, we should be able to get the 2800 or 3500 mAh battery and get a case for it... however I was hoping for a Seidio case - I much prefer their battery door (or if I could just purchase the battery door separately that would work too), especially since it looks like it would still work with their holster. The battery door that comes with the 2800 and 3500 mAh batteries don't look like they'll fit in the Seidio holster.
I guess since they come with new back doors, I really just want something to protect the front. The Active X case is pretty big so maybe I can find a thinner case to just use the top on

For what it's worth I left the front portion of my Seido case on (around the screen) and just hope the extended battery case protects the back side. It doesn't make it the sleekest looking device in the world, but I figure a little protection around the screen is better than nothing.
The Epic is truly the red-headed step child of Sprint phones - no Froyo and no Seidio case for extended batteries - the EVO has both smh.

This case works perfect with an extended battery. I bought two of them. Lots of padding. Great price. Find them on Android Central. I use one for my Epic 4G with the 3500 battery and the other one I use for my Nexus S.
I cut the loops off as I would rather have those cases in my pockets rather than dangling outside.

You may want to check the Reiko "New Fashionable Leather Horizontal Pouch Protective Carrying Cell Phone Case with Belt" - which direct from Reiko on Amazon is now very cheap compared to the price I paid. I use it with the extended battery - barely fits and have to put the screen towards the outside to get it to stay closed (magentic, so doesn't snap close, but since phone is tightly in there, it works out well to remove quickly).
Really designed as a belt clip case (horizontal) and works well that way..

Can you show us a pic of your Epic+ extended battery in that case? I bought one a while ago and I remmber it being extra tight on a naked Epic with stock battery. Does your phone go in and come out easily, or does it take some extra effort?
Attached are the photos.
For full-size images, go to http://rapatel.homeip.net:8080/photos/epic-case/
In the fill-size images, 318 and 319 show how the phone does not fit if the screen is facing inwards.
On taking it out and putting it in, it was tight at first ,but due to the hole on the bottom to push it out, it makes it really easy. Putting the phone in while seated is a challenge however (and taking it out while seated), but that was an issue even without the extended battery.
Here's an update from the seller (eBay ID "moretalktime") of the Yoobao 2800 mAh batteries (this case should also work with the 3000 and 3500 mAh batteries since they all use the same battery door)
The extended battery case moulds are nearly finished for the following models:
Samsung Vibrant, Samsung Epic, Motorola Droid X, and the HTC Evo. Here are the 3D pictures. I am emailing you to ask what color you would like so I can know approximately how many to make of each color. The options are as follows:
1) Black
2) White
3) Teal/Aqua
4) Navy
5) Red
6) Pink
7) Yellow
8) Orange
9) Green
10) Royal Blue
11) Purple
Please list your top 3 as 1), 2), 3). I will only be doing 4 colors so this is very important for getting the colors that are in the highest demand.
Cases will be $15 + $2.99 shipping. They are a high quality TPU and are virtually scratch proof even with a very sharp fingernail. I’ve tried to scratch my sample and I can’t do it with my fingernail. See the picture attached for the material called TPU1.jpg.
Thanks.

Attached is a zip containing the images he included with the email. The "sprint-2" and "sps-asm-1" images are the ones for the Epic.
I like teal/aqua and would like to purchase one but let me know which colors you decide! At this point I dont think I can be all that picky but I would really like my phone to be covered.
Me Too! Not to picky on colors, but I want a cover for my phone as well.

i've never seen one and i don't think there would be one - the sensation case covers the front partially which would be hard to design an extended case for. plus the metal case acts as an antenna booster for the phone.
I know this thread is old but I have seen an extended battery for the Sensation that also includes a cover since the battery is much thicker. It was called mugen power something (don't remember the exact name). I was tempted to buy it, but I'm not sure it would be worth the $90.
