[TWEAK] Vodafone Live! on WM6.5 - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I previously made a cab to enable Vodafone Live! access on WM6 and WM6.1, but now WM6.5 has come along...
For websites such as Vodafone Live! and Planet 3 you have to be using an "authorised" phone before they will let you view their site. This cab will make Pocket IE identify itself as a Nokia N95 browser - and as that's an authorised phone, you'll be able to see the full content. I've tested this with Vodafone Live! in the UK and it works perfectly.
Please note that for Vodafone Live, you have to be connected to the internet by Vodafone's "WAP" connection rather than the more usual "Internet" connection. For "Mobile TV" you also need to make sure that your streaming media player connects via WAP settings. Notes on how to set up a WAP connection are below in case you don't have one set up already. Not sure if Planet 3 has a similar requirement, but please feel free to comment.
Enjoy!

-Go to "Start", "Settings", "Connections" then click on the "Connections" icon.
-Go to the "Advanced" tab and just below the first drop-down box, click "New..."
-Name your new settings (I called them "Vodafone WAP") and click on the "Modem" tab
-Click on the "New..." button and name your connection ("Vodafone WAP" again), then choose "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)" from the drop-down box, then click "Next"
-Enter: wap.vodafone.co.uk as the Access Point Name and click "Next"
-User Name is: wap Password is: wap Leave "Domain" blank and click "Finish"
-Go to the "Proxy settings" tab and tick the boxes which say "This network connects to the Internet" and "This network uses a proxy server"
-Tap "Advanced", then Tap on "HTTP" and enter 212.183.137.12 in the Server box and "8799" in the Port box.
-Click Ok.

thank you so much!

If anyone knows the 3 settings that would be great

anybody? i didnt think 3 was that bad!

how about vodafone new zealand?? with this do you now have a vodafone live! icon in the programs or have to type in voda live url in the browser?

hi sub69.go on,please do one for 02 iphone sim,or do 02 work differently to 3uk ?

Thank you very much for this tweak. As a Touch Pro user I want to login Vodafone live! because I want to watch TV. I am using Windows Mobile 6.5. Now I can't get acces to the vodafone live portal.
Is this tweak also usefull for Touch Pro users in other country's. For example I live in the Netherlands and I think the settings for the UK will not work for me. Am I right ?
In the Netherlands the settings are:
Accespoint: live.vodafone.com or office.vodafone.nl
Username: vodafone
Password: vodafone
Proxysettings
HTTP Server: 192.168.251.150 Port: 8799
WAP Server: 192.168.251.150 Port: 9201
Will these settings work ?
Thank you very much for your reply.

Hi, I'll try to be clear (my English is not good)
I have a Kaiser already unlocked, I'm now on T-mobile (UK) and wanna go to 3 network. When I put the 3 sim, I can use all functions on 3 (skype, msn, planet 3...) ONLY WHEN I AM AROUND THE CITY CENTER (MANCHESTER). When I go Home (Whythenshawe) The level of the signal of the network is very weak and most of the time I cannot be connected on the 3 network. It is not the problem of the area because one friend have a 3 phone and use it at the same area normaly. I asked the operator of 3, they told me that I have to buy a 3 phone.
I tried to install (Identify as N95 (WM6.5).cab), but the problem is still there.
Does anyone knows what to do?

How do you configure it for Vodafoe Australia? I was able to browse to web for 1 day only and then it failed. I read a thread that said remove proxy so I did and it still wont connect. I can access Facebook I think because its free with Voda but I cant access the web, messenger or emails. Does anyone know the settings for Australia?

3 app problems
I have a similar problem most their apps only work when I have a 3g connection, where I live that's pretty unlikely and I think I heard thier GPRS is actually via orange or tmobile

Vodafone Live in India
I am using HTC Touch Viva having Windows Mobile 6.1,
Please help me how to configure Vodafone live in it .. India

MMS T-Mobile UK - Big reward for anyone who can help!

I work for T-mobile UK and trying to find MMS settings for phones we dont do is a nightmare!!! Ive looked on the forum and cannot find the settings.
I can connect to the internet fine using:
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
username= user
password= one2one
I want to set up MMS on the XDA 2 for T-mobile UK. I need to know the following:
Server Name
Gateway
Server Address
(and also anything else relevant to setting up the XDA2 with the T-mobile UK network)
If anyone can solve my problem I will give them a PERMANENT 50% cut in their T-mobile UK line rental. (Its good being staff! )
Cheers, this is what I used, and it worked.
Here you go
Server name: t-MobileUK
Gateway: 149.254.211.10
Server Address: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
For the gateway IP you may want to play around with putting a 0 in before the 10. Sometimes the MMS client does not like the zero so I did not post it. I use my XDA II in the uk and the states. Works like a charm. and I have T-Mobile! Let me know if it works for you.
Mikee
Thank you very much! It worked!
If you wish to have any T-mobile line rental cut, private message me with Your name, your address and postcode, your T-mobile UK number and your password for accessing your account (if you have one)
Ill do the rest then get back to you when Ive added the discounts.
Thank you.
Finally I can set up MMS on my XDA II.
I'm also a T-Mobile employee. Dont understand why T-Mobile dont bring out the XDA in the UK.....maybe thats why we have to get O2 ones and get them unlocked.
We are due to launch the MDA 3 soon. The reason that we didnt take the MDA or MDA2 on in the UK was because we didnt think that the UK market was ready for these sort of devices. Lets face it, joe bloggs has only just given up his nokia 3310 and is beginning to dabble in picture messaging!
I dont think ill upgrade to the MDA 3 tho. I dont see it as a significant upgrade. an integrated keyboard is nice but i have a snap-on keyboard that does the job.

Vodafone 1605 (TyTn) and Vodafone Live!

Hi All,
I've recently bought the Vodafone 1605 (aka Hermes). I'm trying to access Live! I've searched and found a post for getting the jasjar to work with it. I've checked my wap proxy settings, I have reidentified my browser as the Nokia6630 with the registry hack...
Unfortunately, I just get a page with:
> Next
.............................................................
HomeMy MenuMy PageSearch
I can click on some of these and it gives me various blank pages.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm keen to get mobile tv working.
Cheers
Simon
Does nobody have any ideas? What is the difference between the pocket IE setup for the hermes and for the jasjar?
I've tried putting all sorts of things in the regkey:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\]
and done the change to (Default) from Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Mercury/1.20.161.3/Mozilla/4.0
to
Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Mercury/1.20.161.3/Nokia6630
or even
Nokia6630
I have cleared all the other values such as compatible, Desc, Platform, UA-language, Version.
IE seems to be ignoring that setting completely.
Yours desperately
Simon
I'm in the same position as Simon. The JasJar posts were all a while ago - is anyone accessing TV on Vodafone now using a JasJar?
Looking a bit further I have discovered the key:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\UAProf
This contains a url to some settings for the browser. Could this be overriding the other keys? Could someone who has manged to get live working on their device confirm whether this key is present for them?
Si
I have also tried this tonight and have had the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

i have SunCom and I am constantly flashing new roms to my wizard. Is there a cab file that will automatically input the correct mms/internet settings so that I don't have to re-enter it time and time again? Also, if there is not a cab file in existence already,how do I make a cab file with those settings?

"Wireless Modem" vs "Modem link" vs "internet sharing"

Guys,
Like a lot of people here, I sometimes use a Notebook PC to connect to my work over VPN via my Universal. I've always used "Modem Link" as it was more reliable than "Wireless Modem".
In the most recent WM6 Roms, "Modem Link" seems to have disappeared, replaced by "Internet Sharing".
My Telco, like a lot of others, uses a NAT'ed IP address to provide GPRS/3G internet connectivity. "Internet Sharing" also uses IP NAT'ing to share the Telco's IP address. This creates a situation where you are NAT'ing a NAT'ed IP address.
To explain further:
1) Real internet ip address: 203.134.56.123
2) It is then NAT'ed by Telco and becomes 10.0.0.1
3) It is then NAT'ed again by "Internet Sharing" to become 192.168.0.1
This situation is fine for normal web browsing, but won't work when using a VPN client(ie: Cisco). Most VPN clients wont tolerate Double-NAT'ing.
Has anyone experienced this scenario?
Are there alternatives to "Wireless Modem" & "Modem Link"?
Is there a "Modem Link" cab floating around that can be installed separately on the newer WM6 ROM?
Or is there any way to get "Wireless Modem" working reliably?
Thanks,
Simon

Hi,
WModem will be in my latest release with Laurentius, due for release on 1st November.
The problem with most of the current releases that include it, is that the reg on the PDA does not have the correct settings to report the driver name to the windows machine (the entries have been left as generic)
I have just tested WModem and it works fine, over USB.
Cheers,
Beasty

Thanks Beast. That makes a lot of sense.
Now for the most obviouse question. Any chance of making a WModem CAB files with those reg settings? Or even easier, list the relavent reg keys and the correct values.
Thanks again,
Simon

Hi Simon,
This should be all you need to change to allow the emulation to be correctly detected by your PC............ I assume you have the PC driver and dialer.
Unless the Rom you are using has more missing.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\USBSER_Class]
"Manufacturer"="CDMA1X USB Modem"
"Product"="CDMA1X USB Modem"
Cheers,
Beasty

These are the actual required OEM settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\USBSER_Class]
"Dll"="serialusbfn.dll"
"DeviceName"="USBFNS2:"
"Prefix"="COM"
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:1
"RxBufferSize"=dword:4000
"IClass"=multi_sz:"{CC5195AC-BA49-48a0-BE17-DF6D1B0173DD}","{C375C787-B721-4b8e-B67F-A112D5C0A404}"
"idVendor"=dword:0bb4
"Manufacturer"="HTC"
"idProduct"=dword:0cf
"Product"="HTC USB Modem"
"bcdDevice"=dword:90
"Tsp"="Unimodem.dll"
"DeviceType"=dword:0
Also note that the only important keys for driver identification are:
"idVendor"=dword:0bb4
"idProduct"=dword:0cf
These two keys make up the "VID" and "PID" that windows uses to match all drivers to PNP hardware (AKA "Device Instance ID" and "Hardware Ids"). Without the proper VID and PID windows will never match the Modem to the drivers that are provided.
If you want to review it for yourself, just open the modem driver (USBMDM.INF) file and look for the "[HTC]" tag. See below for example:
%USB\VID_0BB4&PID_00CF.DeviceDesc% = Modem1, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_00CF
Hope that helps you guys...

Vodafone Live on Non Branded Roms

Hi Guys,
I have a "hacked" HD2 with an official HTC Rom Version 1.48. The problem is that the german Vodafone Live Portal is shown without pictures in the Internet Explorer. On my Trinity the User Agent had to be adjusted either in the registry or via Advanced Config or via cab-file.
Does anyone have experience how to proceed with the HD2. I found a thread in the german vodafone forum but the posted cab file which should solve the problem isn`t available any more - I already posted there to enable it again - i hope the owner will react. Maybe a XDA-Developer will be faster...
Any idea?
The same here in the Netherlands
This is what I see, I've tried with proxy and without proxy, but it remains the same. I think the HD2 is not supported, and maby they work with a certificate.
Vodafone only allows their own branded ROMs to get full access to their Live-Portal. Changing the registry should simulate a Vodafone branded ROM like it worked already for the Trinity and other HTCs.
Cracks please help us!

Solution
OK I got it!
1) Install Opera 10 beta
2) Start Opera - then enter in adressbox:
opera:config
3) In the preference area search for "User Prefs" and enter in the Custom User Agent Box:
Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Touch_Diamond2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; de)
4) Go to the bottom of the site and save the configuration - then restart opera and go to the Vodafone Live Portal - Bingo!!!
Sorry I couldn`t post Links as I´m still a Noob and controlled by the Admins.
If you want it to Dutch language, change the last to: nl
Like this:
Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Touch_Diamond2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; de)
will be:
Vodafone/1.0/HTC_Touch_Diamond2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; nl)
Works great, thanks hoerni1000!
