Adding a single oem (remotetracker) to a stock rom - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hello,
Is it possibly to add one or 2 cabs to stock kaiser rom? My plan is to add remotetracker to my rom and leave the rest as is (including the spl if possible). This way I am always protected by remotetracker and sending back my device to htc for repairs (if that would be necessary) won't give trouble
Thanks in advance, peterrus

Blure question as if you cook this in you have a custom rom even using the stock so warranty is broken if you send it in for repairs. Other than that its just to make a package out of the cab isnt it?

Well, maybe HTC doesn't notice the device doesn't run a original ROM. Well I can make an OEM package, but I want to include it in the stock ROM. When I use a kitchen I get all kinds of stripped baseroms, which is something I rather not want.

You are kidding right? What do you exactly want here? Do you want it to be like if someone stole youre phone and perform a hard reset that the program is automaticly installed and you can trace it? Or just want to have the program installed if YOU hard reset? Or.. Just have the program installed..

wut
What I really want to know is: Can I add one or 2 files to a stock rom, repack it, and flash it.

Yes in diffrent set of ways, you can use package tools on the given cab to make a package to brew in or use XML whit a config operator and have the cab in ROM. There are other ways aswell, it depends on the ROM you are using and the prefered way you want todo this. Idk wich one I would recomend for you.. By making a package you can end up having trouble whit the cab, seting up operator you need to dig in a bit to learn. Read up on packages and search on config_operator setups and you will get there

Thanks, will do.

Unistalling program from the rom

I am running XDA Mobile 6 r3 by mfrazzz, I love it... Good job Frazzz!!!!
What I want to do or know if its possible the rom still has a lot of programs that I dont use... even the lite version... is there any way to uninstall the programs I dont want... they do not show up in the add remove program list
rom
You can't. That's why it's called rom. (read only memory). the only way is cook your own rom. If you like mfrazzz's rom then you can recook it.
Hope this helps.

Why do you want to remove it? If you don't like it, don't use it. If you don't want to see it in the program files, then remove the .lnk file and you don't have to see it.
Understand that the rom area is an area that you can't get to. So those programs being on your phone don't cause you to have less space on your device (you can't use that area anyway). So install the lite version and remove shortcuts you don't want to see.
Or as suggested, dump the rom with a kitchen, and pull out what you don't want, and then rebuild the rom and flash it...

Follow up: Light vs Loaded
Hi, MFazz.
You're touching on an interesting issue here. Let's consider two versions of your R3: Light and Loaded. Do they have (roughly) the same speed, same storage memory and same program memory?...
BTW, I'm getting ready to try your R3, and am wondering: there used to be R3a, right? I can't seem to find it.
And lastly, are you by chance planning R4?
Many thanks!

hi
You need to break the rom image down.
When you run the upgrade, it will extract files to your temporary location, browse to this folder and you will find the romupgrade utility as well as the nk.nbf and ms.nbf. Replace the ms.nbf with the extended rom version that you wish to use in this temp directory and then continue the flash process.
If you are unable to find the temp location that the files textract too, then simply flash the original rom, then reboot the device, enter back into bootloader and flash only the extended rom that you wish to use.

i am looking for WM6 for either O2 XDA EXEC or imate JasJar, can anyone help me locating a site to download the Rom.

Trying to make my own rom, questions.

Hey, I'm going to try to make my own rom.
Instead of trying to recook other people's rom, (which always fail at cooking)
i'll just try to make my own from scratch.
Custom roms have so many programs i never heard of and will never use.
I just annoys me seeing them.
anyway, have a few questions.
I'm currently following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303195
if i want to remove Windows live, do I just take out these folders?
WindowsLive_DPI_96
WindowsLive
and where do people find all these registry cabs, and how come other builders don't share them?
I know theres a list of apps on the link, but they're not updated and not as complete.
also, I think that rom comes with Cnet2, how can i get the new Cnet3?
Also, Say i put Flash 7 in the oem folder, and next week flash 8 comes out, do I just install flash 8 and it will update it in my phone?
or do I need to recook, since you can't uninstall OEM stuff.
Why doesn't the FTP work? i tried xdaupload/xdaupload.
Thanks!

[APP][01/05] Leo ezInput with Chinese support

I have extracted and packed the ezinput files from WWE Asia ROM, which has Chinese input support. I did this in preparation for my custom ROM flash, since most, if not all, of the cooked ROM are based on Europe/UK WWE and therefore the cooked ezinput would not have the Chinese support.
I've yet to try this on any cooked ROM, so if anybody can try and see if this works I would be most appreciated
NOTE: I've taken down the CAB because it's not working so it's back to drawing board for me.

I've been looking for it for a long long time ago...
but i cant find any workable CAB of it.
so thats why i still keep my LEO as default 1.48 ROM..
and now, Thanks for your hard working,
I can try the newest 2.01 ROM.
I *think* I might have found the problem but I need to flash a custom ROM to test it. If anybody is game to try it on their custom ROM, please pm me your email address and I'll send you the CAB. The reason why I'm not publishing it here is because it might cause you to hard reset your phone if it didn't work out (as happen to one of the 'early adopter' user)

I'm looking for a RIGHT ROM to try.
I'll let your know when i'm ready.
ok, I'm trying a second time. The CAB can be downloaded from here
WARNING: uniinstalling this CAB might require your device to be hard reset. I suspect it's because of the default SIP being removed when the CAB is being uninstalled. But I don't have a custom ROM to test, so if you don't mind the risk, I would appreciate your help in testing.

I volunteer to try your cab, and report back soon!
I've tried it, but it didn't work. when inputting sms contact names, no name suggestions available. and the Pin Yin didn't work at all. And when I tried to uninstall and reset the device, the whole device couldn't boot, I was forced to hard reset my HD2.

I tried it on PDAVIET V05 28014
I can call it out but the hand writing does not show the line when you draw on the screen, when using the 筆畫 it just show the E T U D G instead of chinese.
ok so it looks like I really have to use a custom ROM to test myself, as my fear is that the existing registry in the pure english rom conflicts with the CAB.
this will take awhile unless somebody adventurous could trace the original ezinput registry and identify any potential conflict to the chinese input. (but doing so will also mean you will need to hard reset ur device after the troubleshooting)
Hi, zenkinz
Thanks for your effort.
Can you create a tutial or CAB for LEO custom ROMs (like Dutty's, Xanny's ......) to add Asia support? (just capable of viewing, not UI localized)
You can try to analyse the cabs from Lingvosoft, as they offer asia input keyboards.
I am using their Japanese Keyboard. This will show up the keyboard.
But the keyboard alone is not enough, you need copy a chinese font from your desktop windows to the windows\fonts folder on your Leo.
Then you will have to change the standard font in HTC manilla or Windows 6.5 if you want to be able to display the characters in the main applications (unless that application offers font selection).
I have attached the Chinese and Japanese keyboard cabs, as well as the Chinese font (ming true type font). Those are from the trial version of their translation suit, but I think the keyboards don't require a license (except for use in the translation application, then they get barred).

sorry to say that my voluntary offer ends there. The problem is if there is a problem, I cannot uninstall it and revert to previous state, and also, worse is, the entire rom couldn't start. I can't take too much trouble to try it unless it can be reverted easily.

Removing Sprint ROM-installed software

hi,
Did a search for the topic, found lots of threads about cooked or custom ROMs but nothing about uninstalling all the junk in the ROM that I don't want that came pre-installed on the device.
Any links to actual threads that talk about how to do it would be greatly appreciated.
Not looking for a cooked ROM, am fine with the stock Sprint ROM, just want to delete all the extraneous applications that came pre-installed.
Thank you in advance.
If it isn't listed in the remove programs section there is a good chance it is a part of the rom and isn't removable.
See, someone had something for the AT&T version

Unfortunately, they didn't port it for the Sprint and was hoping to find something similiar, and yes, there IS a way to remove stuff from ROM, just trying to find out how.
If you're trying to remove software like NFL Mobile and stuff, this is the way to do it:
- You have to dump stock Sprint ROM into a kitchen
- Search for *.cab files in the OEM folder. When you find some, those will be the only ones that you can remove. All others are mixed into the ROM files and MUCH tougher to remove. Remove the ones you don't want
- Remove install instruction for those cabs in the install.dat file
I know that's VERY vague, but you need to have some knowledge with kitchens and making them to do this. So, try first learning how to dump a ROM into a kitchen and remaking it. Ervius Visual kitchen is very nice. It has a GUI interface and you can dump a ROM right from that. THEN you take the stuff you don't want in it and recreate it!

Thanks, I was possibly hoping to avoid the kitchen approach. Do know how to do it, didn't want to go that route. There is a utility for the AT&T version that someone created, of course, can't find the link now, crudscraper or something like that. It does exactly this. i was hoping to find something similar for the Sprint version.
Thanks for the reply, vague or not, it's appreciated.

See, every carrier adds it's own software on the ROM, so the AT&T ROM probably has it's own software. I can imagine one way the person could do it is see all the files and registry entries that are in each of the app cabs in the dumped ROM and have the app remove them. Someone would have to specifcally make it for Sprint. It's not something that can be ported from what I know.
If you going to go the route of changing registry settings, etc., then I would first disable the CM_Guardian_Service first. It will put back some of the settings you delete if you don't disable that PoS.
