im wondering what you guys think what the best keyboard is.

CooTek TouchPal for me

Also Touchpal for me

TouchPal FTW! I've used it since it came out, and haven't found anything better. It's all in the auto predict. I can type about 40-60 WPM on my desktop 180-220 WPM with TouchPal and my thumb.

Couldn't agree more with the members above ! And I've tried most the favorable keyboards out there.
Absolutely the best keyboard app ever. Watch the video and read the whole page to unlock its true potential. Look.......HERE

Oh and FYI, CooTek is about to release a new version (V4) by the end of April. I was offered to beta test the pre-release version, and of course I said yes! I will be posting first impressions, etc here at PPCGeeks and the cootek forum.

Yeah that one is good and was my favourite but it doesn't have the deep layers of Touchpal.
Overall, touchpal is more intuitive.

ya i use to use the cooltek one but it was too slo for me
i like things u can use using ur thumb and nvr acually looking at ur phone
lol because im still in high skoo and i text in class lol

touchpal is also one of my favorites...

My favorite is PocketCM Keyboard 0.14
Finger Keyboard 2 is great but ergonomic don't suits me : I'm still looking for a better layout

New SIP for touchscreen (breakthrough)

I found them recently and tried them (trial is free).
One is for thumbs the others for pen.
From my experience SlideIt is a must !!! Thumbkey is not bad as well
Are they so new that I found no thread on this venerable forum ?
http://www.mobiletextinput.com/Product/SlideIT/SlideIT.php
http://www.mobiletextinput.com/Product/ThumbKey/ThumbKey.php
Videos are available
Have you tried them ? What do you think ?
I just saw the video and did some searching and I found this thread. It seems pretty cool.
uh. no. i'll take the default keyboard and stylus anyday
WOW!
The first app is incredible!!
I must try it....
Is there an ITALIAN vocabulary for it?
Now the keyboards are for free !!!
http://www.dasur.co.il/Product/ThumbKey/DownloadDemo.php
http://www.dasur.co.il/Product/SlideIT/DownloadDemo.php
As they should have been from the beginning....
the first one is a cool idea but look combersum...
also the keyboard looks bad... i like my cmkeyboard w/ iphone skin much better
A good surprise
I downloaded SlideIT demo without any expectation. I heard so many times about a breakthrough.... and 50 words/minute ?? hum....
But this time I have to say I was really surprised. This is certainly the best keyboard available.
Sliding +grafiti + prediction give really good results and speed is improved.
The demo is very powerful. It is worth to try it
I guess you have to use the stylus, huh? I like PCM and TouchPal because you can use the stylus or your fingers.
I like the premise, but I don't know it I see it becoming my main form of input.
Not quite a "Breakthrough". Now, if I could just think it and my PPC does it, that would be a Breakthrough.....

Interesting, but that's not even close to the new Fingertouch PRO that I'm currently using.
So why should you use that, when FingertouchPRO is the best keyboard available?
You can use FTPRO in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or even Greek, and you can also define your own languages. For all these, it also supports an innovative fT9 technology, that makes possible typing with only 1 finger!
Not to mention the other tons of settings and features. I've added the CAB here, for direct download, but better check the webpage at www.fingertouchpro.com
Cheers!
MOD EDIT: Better mention so everyone is clear. The cab posted is trial version

Because you can't declare it the best keyboard available for everyone. It's all subjective.
I've used fingertouch pro, and I was not impressed. I'm definitely liking touchpal 3.5 more so far.
Mods should bann this yuppime who's obviously doing ad, in a very dirty way.
I did try the fingertouch and it sucks. If it is really good, they don't need to do dirty ads here.
So far Touchpal is the best, so is PCM. fingertouch is useless.
I found TouchPal to be a waste of money myself. IMO it isn't as good as the stock diamond keyboard.
Then fingertouch is even more and a waste of time too.
Well guys, let us not cook up the heat in here. What do you say, since you guys have posted your feedbacks and informations about these input SIPs, we let the users decide which is best for them
What is best and what is not is individual choice and let everyone use that they feel is comfortable. Thanks again for the feedbacks

Dude, I see you posting the same thing on like every board here, you are probably an employee or some kind of viral marketer for the product, I mean yes it's nice but IMO it's not even close to TouchPal's usability and features.
Maybe subjectively you like it better and you're entitled to that but don't go around saying it's the best SIP keyboard around like it's a fact.
For the love of god....where is the cab for touchpal...somebody please let me know.

SlideIT not fully compatible with the HD2? [ALMOST COMPATIBLE NOW?]

Hello guys,
I am currently using SlideIT, which is a great piece of software.
http://www.mobiletextinput.com/
But ot seems that this keyboard can create some problems on my HD2 (problems with the landscape mode). Sometimes my HD2 freezes.
Do you have the same issue?
[EDIT: NEW VERSION 4 of SlideIT now compatible available here:
http://www.mobiletextinput.com/Product/SlideIT/WindowsMobile/Demo.php]

You are right. Unfortunately the thread you are referring to deals almost exclusively with Swype.

I don't think so.

Hello
Me I'm testing now and don't have prob with landscade except that the keyboard is taking half scrren...
Will continue my test
Hello Bouya_k,
thanks a lot for your answer. I think the problem occurs when swype is already opened and you rotate the HD2 into landscape mode...

I tested also this and no probs
Yes you're right. SlideIT has a problem with landscape mode, especially in WinMO 6.5. Dasur is working on that, but did not fix it yet. This is what Daniel from Dasur wrote to me about the landscape problem:
"We have a new version which will be available soon but the landscape problem on HTC HD2 is still not repaired. I hope it will be among the list of bugs in the subsequent release. Regards
Daniel"
Another soft
I'm sure you know this soft, but did you try shapewriter, it supports lot of languages and is really nice to use.
Hope it helps,
Franky
Hi, thanks for the tip.
Actually I tried both SlideIT and Shapewriter and found that there is really no comparison. I find SlideIT far better, especially regarding French language.
Most of the time the words suggested by Shapewriter were not the right ones.
Also Shapewriter is incredibly expensive (twice more expensive than SlideIT.Wwhat do they have in mind?).
I will definitely wait for a new version of SlideIT working properly on my HD2. Can't believe Dasur still cannot manage to solve this landscape bug.
I also agree with u. sometimes while playing game in landscape it pops up and phone freezes, its so annoying so now m using swype n happy with it.

I'm using shapewriter from 7 days, it seems to be difficult first, but when adding news words to dictionnary that you use everyday, it becomes really good after this period.
I didn't notice the difference of price between these two softs, if you need help, PM me.
See you my french Bro,

The SlideIT Dictionary is by far better than the shapewriter thing. The only thing i can't understand is why SlideIT doesn't fix the landscape thing and didn't even reply on mails ? Very confusing.

SlideIT reply me on mail
"Thanks for your feedback ! We are aware of this landscape problem on HTC, and it will be fixed in the next version. The next version will be available during the up coming month"
Anyway SlideIT is the first technology to combine three features: sliding, prediction and graffiti.
I will buy this as soon as they fix the bug.
Let us know when the program is updated.
+1.
I will buy it, but only when SlideIT is updated.
+1
Same for me
And about shapewriter (I posted the same comment in another post) I have two problems :
- never writes in internet filed (Opera, or IE), have to go back to usual input KB
- never wirtes "de" in frnech, but always "se" or "der"
weird....
But donnu if I will switch from trail to full version, considering the price, and those bugs...
I've bought it, and I've written two email to developers.
But, till now, no reply.
I'm evaluating to ask for a refund to Paypal, because I need assistance, too.

SwiftKey > Swype, imho.

So Swiftkey is pretty excellent.
The previous beta release sent to me was GOOD, but definitely not good enough to take over swype.
However, yesterday I received the latest APK and man, it's awesome.
It's incredibly fast and the text prediction is simply brilliant, the video is too conservative at the speed you can type.
It reminds me a LOT of touchpal, and I would love to see the swipe symbols implemented like they were in WinMo.
I recommend you guys head on over to their website here and try to sign up for the beta.
I used to be a huge Swype junkie, but I truly find this faster.
Check it out, you may like it.

In response to the bolded part: and? Does that preclude the need for supporting information? If anything it emphasizes the necessity; opinions aren't facts, they cannot stand without support.
Edit: To the OP, i'm gonna check out swiftkey, although I can't imagine it being better than swype. Could you have not just shared an apk?
I struggle with Swype but I see potential in the concept. I signed up for the beta. Thanks OP.
I'd be interested in seeing the super prediction done by Swiftkey, but I don't know... I'm getting better with and liking Swype more and more every day.
The learning system in Swype I think is what I like best. Some word isn't in the dictionary? Just type it in and it's added. No asking, no popup window, it's just there next time you use it.

Would if I could. Attached to every release is a software release licensing stating that it is not to be handed out.
Android Central featured both Swype and Swiftkey in a review here:
http://www.androidcentral.com/android-centrals-keyboard-roundup
He seemed to prefer Swiftkey as well.
What version is swiftkey up to now? The last one I used was 0.9.3 I think..
I received an email and downloaded the latest version (.9.13) but I am unable to get it to install on DC. I am very impressed with the prediction but it is a litle laggy. Glad to hear the update is faster (if I can get it to work).
Waiting for me email
Just signed up for swiftkey.. Swype still hasn't emailed me yet and I'm using SlideIT now.. SlideIT is working pretty well.. I tried shapewriter, but didn't like it very much. SlideIT will suffice until I get an invite to swype or swiftkey

PM me if you want the swype or swiftkey apk.
i have tried both and only wish swiftkey would do a better pridiction for surrounding letters. swype imo is faster for typing and more accurate. i would love to see swiftkey guess the words better with more choices of guess words. that would make me switch.
swiftkey v0.9.14
I'm on SwiftKey .9.15. It is excellent, but I have two MAJOR complaints:
1. No custom dictionary. Really? What is this, a 2004 Nokia phone? I thought these were called SMART phones
2. It cannot for the life of it figure out verb tense. If I write a future-tense sentece, it'll suggest a past-tense verb and a present-tense verb, but I have to type the future-tense verb out. It's ridiculous.

SwiftKey - Keyboard

You guys might have heard of this, but you may have not. It's a keyboard app, sort of similar to the iPhone's keyboard, that learns your writing style from the words you frequently use when you text. If you guys want it, download it here. Enjoy!

But, yes, it is a magnificent keyboard. I love the usage statistics. According to it, I've saved 403 keystrokes, making me 21% more efficient

I signed up about two weeks ago and got my first e-mail two days ago. They just send out e-mails every time they make a significant update, I think. I'm pretty sure they just send it out to everyone on the list. You'll just have to wait a while, but it is definitely worth the wait. It's (nearly) the best keyboard I've ever used.
