Help!
On my Touch Pro my Internet Explorer is suddenly unable to show any web page. It always says "The address is not valid. Check the address and try again". IE not even seems to try to connect to a page, the error message appears too fast. As if I configured a false proxy which I haven't, no proxy at all!
That alone is not a problem because IE is a bad browser and Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Iris Browser etc. all work fine (they have their own Proxy settings).
But unfortunately tools that rely on IE like AppToDate or Flexmail also don't work.
Any idea what I can try (besides a hard reset) ?
are you on att?
go to connection settings check proxy make sure its turned off
otherwise i dunno

No, I'm on SIMYO here in Germany
Proxy is turned off in connection settings.
It used to work before... but I had the same issue two years ago on my Eten Glofiish... could not solve it, so I did a hard reset which I want to avoid right now...
Thanks,
Oliver

Take a look in Advanced Config under Internet Explorer, and try disabling "Proxy Auto Detection".
Cheers,
Steve.

Yippiehh.... that did it! Thanks a lot!
And I did comparisons of my 2 week old backups to find out the changed registry keys that could be responsible... and I did find NOTHING!
Thanks again!

thanks guys, I had similar problem with Opera working fine but IE unable to access internet.
Disable Proxy - worked for me!
Unfortunately it did only help for IE for me. QuickGPS and AppToDate still don't work for me...
Anybody any ideas?

I'm not quite sure what exactly you mean.
I disabled the proxy with Advanced Config, I don't know which registry settings this action changed.

Since my first ROM flash (and who knows maybe before that) I have had tremendously hard time getting PIE to connect to the internet. What's strange is that after I install opera MINI it connects and loads pages no problem despite the fact that PIE loads nothing.
I need to download some files and I've tried:
-rebooting phone
-deleting cookings
-deleting files
-deleting history
I'm using the WAP.cingular settings because the ISP.cingular really don't seem to work at all (PIE doesn't work in either - I THINK MINI only works with WAP settings).
I have the Cingular Personal unlimited DATA with the 1500 text messages.
Any ideas why PIE is so problematic
Thanks
Did you registry edit any of the cache or history, etc to the card? If so, move it back to the original settings.

No, I have the same problem.
Opera Mini works fine but PIE does nothing. I don't have any clue why.

I can ONLY get online with PIE and not with any other app (Sling Player, Google Maps, Opera, etc). I don't know why, either. I hadn't changed a thing. It just started happening tonight and it's happening on my Tilt and the wife's Blackjack. Makes no sense whatsoever...
What network are you on, and where?
I called this evening, and from what i understood, ATT had been having data network issues since the afternoon
This has been happening for me either since day one or since my first Dutty ROM.
Here's what I've observed:
with WIFI only I get PIE to work
with Data connection only I get Opera MINI, IM+ to work
IM+ and Opera WILL NOT work with WIFI connection
Something is miffed?
Try enabling the "Hidden Proxy", and try using the browsers again.
Then Disable it, and do the same test. post your results.
My data connection was only working through medianet with the Proxy enabled. I hard reset, and reinstalled everything from scratch (something i was planning on doing), and now my medianet works without the proxy again.
Yeah, this happened to me last week. I installed the hidden proxy app to work with CingularVideo.cab and I could only connect through programs other than PIE.
I went into
"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings"
and changed "EnableAutoDetect" to "1".
Not sure if this will help, but it's an option for you.
Just checked- don't have that registry entry. just httpproxy (1) and some other settings nothing about proxy auto detect or anything close though. Checked all subfolders
Still no solution, any thoughts dutty?

Friend, please guide from where to get it.
Downloaded opera, but it doesn't open certain wap sites.Seems lik it doesn't support xml pages.
Any help with internet explorer settings?
pie dont really have it's own settings it should just use the normal connection settings as
messenger and opera
unless you setup some proxy dns or other wrong connection settings for your operator
It's not a software issue. I would go for DNS lack. How do you connect to the internet, GPRS or WiFi?
I use both gprs and wifi.Till three days ago, everything was fine. Now Opera and Iris browser are ok,but explorer shows same error message for both connections. It doesn't even try to connect to gprs.
my problem is my webbroswers *both IE and Opera* does not connect to my cellar internet but only wifi
every other internet app works, Youtue, google map, etc Myphone seems to partly work but i think get stuck when sync'ing my contacts could be a bug with myphone so am discussing this with they expert team
so can anyone expalin why my web broswers is not working?
P.S Skyfire Beta works
Device = ATT Fuze
Rom = NATF v4.4 Fuze Edition
I've never had this problem, but then again never flashed one of NATF's roms. Try posting this question in the NATF rom thread. Good luck
every rom i tried this happen, atomic, NATF, Monex, etc
go to connection settings turn off the proxy check box
proxy is off, i dont like using proxy i live NYC by the way
What have you tried to solve the problem?
A soft reset?
Maybe you have nodata running, or forgot to activate the GPRS/3G connection before uninstalling it.
i tried 3 different rom, soft and hard reset, i tried the hidden proxy cab and remove proxy cab, tried manually setting the proxy, changing the default connection in the connection setting and all seem to not work
I must say this is a problem I haven't really read about yet (new to posting on the forum but not from reading)
If you do install nodata (cab on request), maybe you can check if the phone's data connection is enabled?
Maybe there are other factors then the forementioned program that can affect that setting.
It is a weird problem however, since other apps do have internet...
What if you start GoogleMaps to get the connection going, then open the browser. Does that let the browser connect?
it is very strange and what is this no data cab u mention
i have also used skype and it works, it kinda sucks that am limited to one broswer and thats skyfire, since its a beta also its not the greatest, my only other option is to turn on the wifi, connect to a access point and then it works, other than that i get opera nor IE to work which is very puzzling
also when i tap my h icon in the task bar it says am connected to medianet but it doesnt load

Nodata is an application that detects (GPRS/3G) dataconnections on your telephone and can switc them on or off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=151212&d=1233148782
Because the other apps on your telephone do have internet, the chance of this thing working is very slim.
Good luck tough...
youtube is processing my vid, i will post the link a lil bit later
and i dont think that nodata stuff will work due to the fact that it might actually detect a internet connection like the rest of my applications but wont be able to figure out why just IE and Opera dont work.
ok as promise here is the link to the vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAAqYWGATRc
look to the end of the vid where u see i put the wifi on and try to load opera and it works

Ok, I didnt see a connection setup wizard on your phone? Did you run that on setup during the initial boot over your phone. I would recommend running that again....I really didnt see it, which is odd did you do something with it?
Second, when you went into connections...then when you see media net click on proxy settings, make sure there is a check box on this network connects to the internet. and make sure the next box is not checked and there is nothing in the box....
this is a fuze edition rom so i guess thats why NATF left it out since fuze is orginally att. and is proxy a must cuz i tried using proxy before but it didnt work.
cant someone help me?
try going to your comm manager and disabling your data connection. This should disconnect you. After that, re-enable it and see what happens.

Hi
Im havin a problem. In my office my HTC Prophet detects a Wifi signal and it connects to it very easily. But there is no browsing available.
Ive talked with our IT Department, they said they placed no restriction on use of WiFi and ours is an unsecure network. I gave a proxy in settings but still in vain.
My Rom details are in my signature.
Im looking forward to your help
Regards
Hey,
Have you tried connecting to any other wifi network?
Delete the settings from your prophet and try again.
Ive never had problems with wifi browsing with that rom. Does the connection work for any other apps that need internet, like weather?
Proxy settings shouldnt be needed using wifi??
Thats a good idea, ill try it on another network
Ive deleted all the settings n tried again i-e even mms and gprs settings
I gave proxy but it was in vain

yh dont even bother with proxy, its not needed for wifi, same for deletin mms and gprs settings lol... are u sure its not secured? That seems pretty slack for a company wifi lol.
Yup, its slack
Ive deleted all my settings and still no use
My colleague is running Wifi & browsing net with his nokia E-60, this means there isnt any problem with the wifi.
Yup it isnt secure, but im still unable to access it
can you update the weather using your wifi?
Did you look at Vincents thread for the rom to see if there are any problems?
No, weather doesnt update
Ive seen his thread whose link is in my signature, but no use!
ok asking the obvious now but just to check, did you hard reset after your flash? Did wifi ever work using your current rom?
Might be worth trying a reflash, backing up first of course
Yup, I did hard reset and WiFi worked after I installed this ROM on my Prophet
I think this must mean that there is a software clash with an app you have added, or registry is messed up. Have you tried deleting cookies etc in your browser? Your using Internet Explorerer yes? have you tried Skyfire out of interest?
Might be time for a hard reset...

Hi,
Do you have your device connected with a cable to charge or sync ? It might be you did not check the box in AS to allow wireless connection while connected to a cable...
Dirk
Hmm
I havent tried deleting cookies and skyfire
Now ill try all of the above and report back!
Hi!
I'm having trouble with proxy settings on a HTC Touch 2 mobile phone when synchronising data at work with activesync on a Windows XP computer.
Each time activesync runs, my Operator's proxy parameters are automatically replaced by my firm's proxy parameters (those which are specified in Network Parameters in Internet Explorer on the PC).
Of course, after synchronizing, I can't use Internet on my mobile phone.
I try to look in ActiveSync, IE's parameters but found nothing.
Thanks forward for your help.

Maybe this helps... it seems for me it did the trick so far:

You'll find a key in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\App\Tasks" that is something like "DisableProxy", delete this key, restart the phone and you'll be all right.
It seems to me that this is a HTC feature; on some rom it is enabled, not on others... go figure (and I don't know why such a feature exists)
