Need Help with my Qtek S200. It is frozen!!

Ladies and Gents - Hi!
Dunno if you can help me but my Qtek S200 is freezing when it starts up. I have tried....Really. I have been through this forum to try to find solutions to my problems. The phone was a swisscom phone when i lived there and has additional Swisscom software on it. But when I did once hard reset, it had normal Qtek stuff on it. Anyways, that is for background purposes.
I got so far as follows trying to revive my phone.
a) When I switch on the following numbers come up:
"IPL 2.09.0001
SPL 2.09.0001
GSM 02.07.20
OS 2.9.7.24"
The screen then freezes!
b) I therefore tried a hard reset....Photo and Comm buttom depressed and a stylus reset. Phone says -
"Press send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit"
....which I do... I press the green send button.
Phone says -
"Formatting FAT partition Format is completed!!"
....again, up comes the same screen as mentioned in a with same numbers and all!
c) So - I press the photo button and the reset to get the red/green/blue screen.
Phone says -
"IPL 2.09.0001
SPL 2.09.0001"
I plug my cable into the computer and plug the cable into the phone. Bottom left hand corner says "USB".
At this point I suppose I should "flash" my phone. Cannot figure out how that is done or even what it means. Tried to find .exe files on the QTEK CD I got with the phone but there seems nothing I can flash the phone with.
This is as far as I can get. Wish I can revive the phone and if I can upgrade the OS software that would be just wonderful!
Please Help (In non technical language as I get lost in the jargon)

Also, if I may add, the cd does not seem to have any 'system' software on it and will only let me repair damaged programs on my computer. CD is the microsoft Qtek CD with windows mobile 5.0 PPC Phone edition GSM w/outlook 2002. Is that what I need coz its the only cd that came with the phone.....

It seems to freeze after step B. 30 mins and it will not change. And it comes up with the swisscom welcome page..... just as though the format of the FAT never happenned.

So! just for the sake of it I tried again since my last post. Not a thing the phone was and remained frozen even after my format of the FAT. That is almost 2 hrs waiting.

flash a new rom.. The AKU2.2 no vendor(NVID) rom link,is posted in the WM6 Upgrade.go there and download it...

Erm... this is where I become computer illiterate! Where do I find the upgrade and what exactly is flashing? Is it running an executable code when fone is in bootmode and it will do all itself?

You dont need to flash up to WM6.... but this should help you to atleast flash up to aku2.2

just enter bootloader and run the exe...

So I guess a word of THANKS is Definitely in order. The phone is up and running again with the files and the help that you suggested.
I have stopped the swisscom autorun from installing the swiss stuff on it as I am wondering if it is all the additional software including tomtom and rail timetables, translation programs etc that are filling the memory, slowing the pda and basically crashing it!!!
Again.... a big thanks for your help and support! I had already written the fone off.

unbranded wm6 upgrade problem

hi,
i tried upgrading to wm6 with the generic unbranded upgrade issued by palm recently. everything went well till after the upgrade was complete in the progress bar. the device rebooted for reloading with wm6 but did not go past the 1st windows mobile screen to load the home screen. the phone does not turn on either. i tried waiting for a couple of hours for the phone to load completely but nothing happened.
the active sync or the computer does not detect the device as anything when connected with the computer, since the phone is not loading till that point. its stuck on the windows mobile screen that comes right after a reboot.
i cant restart the upgrade since active sync is not detecting the device.... tried hard reset but still stuck on the same screen.
please help someone.... thanks,

Try to reflash using miniSD method (described 1000+ times and on wiki).
Can you load bootloader (side-button + reset)? If you have bootloader running everything should be good

hey... thanks for your reply, but i am afraid i have absolutely no idea what you mean by that. could you please walk me through it? i will try and search for the boot by card method you have written about but incase i dont find it, can you post a link to one of those discussions? and also the other one, both containing detailed step by step instructions. i really dont understand a lot and am certainly not meant for this site but i was directed here cause i posted this problem on the google groups... someone asked me to come here that i will get some answers here...

1. Using winrar unpack Updater_something_something.exe
2. Find CHEEIMG_FW.nbh there (it's about 83MB).
3. Format your card to FAT32 (usining Windows and card reader). Make sure twice that this is FAT32, not FAT(16).
4. Copy CHEEIMG_FW.nbh to formatted card.
5. Rename CHEEIMG_FW.nbh to CHEEIMG.nbh
6. Put card into your Treo. Plug charger to Treo.
7. Holding PPT/Media button (one under volume keys) push reset (under card slot) with stylus.
8. You should get bootloader screen (red green blue).
9. If you made previus steps right Treo should ask if you want to flash rom.
10. Press power button (red) to confirm.
11. Watch progress bar while Treo is being flashed (it will take about 15(?) minutes).
12. After upgrade make hard reset (reset holding power button, then "up" to confirm).
13. Enjoy new system

i checked on wiki... no options to flash cheetah. plus from what i understand from information on other phones, the device needs to completely load for flashing from the SD card. ofcourse i dont know if i was looking at the right article either... or searched for the right article... fyi i searched for 'flash' since 'reflash' and 'reflash using miniSD" turned up dry...
guess i will have to depend on you again to give me the link to some page which relates to the problem i am facing...

hey thanks for the offer, really appreciate it... i infact have to go for a freinds wedding... just am really jittery about this phone now considering that i only have this ppc. sold off the imate jasjam.. for this one. what i can do is i can try doing the flash thing and can post again if it worked or not... and if it doesnt, can we try the msn chat? i.e. if and when you are free for it...

try the recovery tool - should do the trick - is included in the installer...

Can you load bootloader (side-button + reset)? If you have bootloader running everything should be good
hey... i have been trying to do the entire procedure, unfortunately my card reader is not working thus am unable to save the updater on the card. but the bootloader screen is possible, i tried it. although nothing happened... the 3 colored screen came in with 'serial' written at the last color band...
so what should i do with that again?

hey... since my card reader aint working, i tried to get into bootloader mode and try and do what you said through the computer... unfortunately the file name on the updater is only Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater
when i unpack it from the winrar... i get a couple of folders and then the updater again... so cant file the file that you asked me to find

any ideas? please help...

As for you trying to get the boot loader, IT IS NOT A RED GREEN AND BLUE SCREEN, IT IS Grey... the RGB flashes on screen for a second and then goes to the grey bootloader..
then it starts the update progress if you hit the red power button like what was said earlier...
THIS IS WHAT YOU DO if it DOES NOT WORK you DID NOT do it right...
PRESS AND HOLD THE PTT/APP Button on the left side of the phone, RIGHT BELOW THE VOLUME BUTTONS..
As you are HOLDING THIS BUTTON, Use your stylus to hit the reset button **DO NOT LET GO OF THE PTT/APP Button*
when the screen comes to, and you see the bootloader screen it's ready to go..
And as for the rom, pick your poison, there are many to get, just look through the forums or use your favorite bit downloader to get ahold of it...
Load the ROM image like was said earlier to a miniSD (I used micro 2GB Sandisk and Mini Sleeve and it worked fine for me) but plug it into a windows machine, FORMAT IT and tell it the FILE SYSTEM is FAT32 and **NOT** Fat16 and THEN copy over the rom file, once it's copied put it into the phone and start the bootloader like I said earlier...
Easy as pie! Let it do it's thing, but leave it plugged into the charger cord not the USB.
If you get the "Serial" at the bottom, you used the wrong button, the ONLY one you need is the PTT/APP Under the Volume buttons..
Sticker shock only has a hold on me for a day or three, after that it's time to rip it apart and start modding.. if I break it, I don't give a rats arse, just get a new one and try again..

Radio Help pls!

I've always had troubles flashing radios for some reason, I've managed to just not do it but now with Duttys 6.1 out I really need some help
- I've flashed Duttys latest successfully
- I've flashed HardSPL
- But whenever I flash the radio (1.64.08.21) I get a connection error at 99%!!
Now I can still get into the phone using mtty and the boot command.
Am I doing something stupid -- Any help gratefully received!

I'm a newbie been here with a AT&T Tilt less than a week and I promise I'm reading, but I'm having the exact same problem. Flashed Duttys dual V4 as my first try last Tuesday without a problem and of course be a crazy new guy I wanted his newest work. So I flashed Duttys 6.1 today and I guess I just can't figure out how to flash radios, because I've tried 2 now and both error out at 99% and I too have to use mtty to get back into the phone. I'll keep reading, but if someone could tell us new guys what the heck we are doing wrong that would be great.
PS I'm glad to be here and this looks like a lot on fun thanks for having me and look forward to helping out someday.

Hey Alex! I figured it out Brother! Do this and you should be able to upgrade your radio. I was using JumpSPL1.56-KAIS run from my device and I was running into the same problem everytime I tried to upgrade my radio. Would get to 99% and then would error out. So I followed these steps taken from a number of different post and put together until it worked!
1) Make sure you have JumpSPL1.56-KAIS somewhere on your device the file for me is in "my docs" on my Tilt.
2) Run kaiser-HardSPL from your PC with your device hooked up via usb with the green act sync icon. Once you get to the white screen of death on you device, stop unplug you device and soft boot it via your stylus and the reset button. Leave your pc alone right where it stopped in the kaiser-hardspl screen. "should be to the point where it says unplug and replug in your usb you should have the tri color screen press enter to proceed"
3) Now set your connection settings in active sync to not allow usb connections.
4) Now plug you device by in via usb and run Jumpspl1.56-kais on your device. When it has the tri color screen and says usb, unplug usb and plug back in.
5) Now back in the kaiser-hardspl window, continue on with the on screen directions. This should now install hardspl just like the rom or roms that you might have already installed and will say finished.
6) The device should reboot.
7) close the kaiser-hardspl window and let you device fully reboot.
8) Once it is fully rebooted follow these directions: Perform a soft reset, when the screen goes blank hold the camera button until a multi colored screen comes up
9)Now run your radio update and it should go through without erroring out at 99%. It will stay at 99% for a bit then jump to 100% success!
My Tilt is working great now with sound and everything. Have not tested anything else yet, came right here and started to let you know what I did to get radio installed.
So now I'm running Duttys WM6.1 newest release with radio 1.64.06.
Call me crazy and sure I know I might have taken more steps than I needed to, but I got it working.

First, are you using a 6.0 rom or a 6.1 rom? If you are using a 6.0 rom you cannot flash any of the 6.1 radios and vice versa. Also, if you have hardspl installed, why would you need to use jumpspl. I have never used jumpspl and I promise I have flashed 50+ times counting, roms, radios and splash screens.

I believe that was my problem, I was never able to get Hard-spl installed and I was using jumpspl to install the 2 roms that I have installed since I got my tilt a week ago. The method I used above allowed me to get hard-spl installed and then I was able to install the radio rom. I am using Duttys WM6.1 rom.

Ok I had actually done everything upto the final step (holding the camera button after a soft reset) but that made it possible to flash the radio just as you described.

You need to use MTTY to get things going for you again, here is the thread to get mtty:

Search around and see if you can find the step by step to use it, might even be a how to text file in the zip file not sure. This should get you back on your way.
Can someone locate the step by step to use mtty for this man and put it in this post?

HTC Touch Cruise/XDA Orbit2 - Hardreset/Rom Flash.....

Hi everybody,
i got a XDA Orbit 2 and today i tried to install SPB Phone Suite.
During install it asked for a Softreset, which i did...
After that i refused to boot and keeps hanging at the o2 Bootscreen.
It totally freezes, regardless if i pull any cable, remove the sd-card etc..
So i thought i'd a hardreset once again, but that one didnt work at all.
The Restore lasts maybe 10 secs (with and without sc-card), then asks for another boot and im again where i startet, the o2 bootscreen.
Any chance i get it working again?
Like somebody else recommended flashing it with either another rom or the original one, which i might d/l somewhere.
Then again, any Flash-HowTo starts with an ActiveSync Connection.
Since my Device wont boot at all, the ActiveSync Connection wont be established...
Any helpful Advise highly appreciated :-/

You should be able to manually put it into the boot loader. I'm not familiar with you phone so you will need to research that.
***Update**** Try this; "turn your phone on press and hold the two buttons on the upper left and right side from your naviwheel and press the resetbutton with your stylus"

hrm, pressing the upper left/right buttons and reseting it doesnt do anything.
regarding google im the first human ever trying to get the htc touch cruise into bootloader mode.

Manually getting into the boot loader will allow to establish a link to your PC in order to re-flash. Like I said, I'm not familiar with your phone....

yup, i noticed some more users here own an Orbit2.
So i hope somebody is able to enlighten me, before i brake my fingers while trying to press all buttons same time and then somehow hit the reset button, hehe.

ok, i managed to get into bootloader.
some more detailed research helped me there, actually inside this board :-/
now lets see if HardSPL makes me happy.

I have an Orbit 2,
To Hard reset and delete everything from your phone and then let the rom reload everything back to factory settings, do the following.
1. Remove SD card
2. Hold down the 'Windows Icon' Button and the 'OK' button at the same time and keep them held in.
3. While still holding in the above 2 buttons, use the stylus and press the reset button in and then release it but you must still keep the 'Windows' button and the 'OK' button still in until you are prompted with a menu.
4. Once the menu appears: press 'Send' button to reset and reload rom or any other button to cancel.
I have done this procedure a few times now and is quite safe, especially after loading a crap piece of software that totally knackers up my Orbit 2.

Tried that before and it worked out before also.
This Time the complete recover-process lasts only 10 seconds and then the Boot doesnt work anymore either.
Dunno why the hardreset aint working anymore.
Regarding the Flashing:
I managed to get into Bootloader and see the following Information:
POLA200
SPL-1.25.0000
CPLD-2
Serial.
Then i plug in the USB-Cable and start the Update-Utility.
After following each step i get the following error:
Error 262: Update Error
Saying it has encountered communication Errors and asks me if i want to recover...
Im running VistaSP1, maybe thats a reason?

Try this for your Vista issue. It worked for me the first time. Although I don't know if SP1 has any effect.

Damn, now im using a Windows XP Machine (incl. all Updates) with ActiveSync 4.5, and still get the [262] Update Error.
Seems its seriously damaged :-(

One Question:
Did you installl phone-suite on a cooked rom, or on the original o2 rom?
i got the same freezing problem on my touch with a cooked rom. with the original rom i got no problems.

youll have to use HSPL to unlock the phone, then flash a rom with MaxSense, personally i use NRG roms http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86489

It's really not that hard, i just did my first flash last night on my Verizon TP2. i perfer the energy roms personally. (its the only one i have used, but it seems to be fast, with good battery life, and reliable). looks good 2 ; ) all u have to do is download the HSPL to ur computer, unzip it and put the files on ur desktop, hook up ur phone through usb, (must download Windows Mobile Device Center from microsoft if you use Vista or windows 7, otherwise use sync) "snyc" it to the computer (make sure u choose "active sync connection when ur fone promts) and run the utility. after that its pretty much the same process for flashing, just download and unzip to the desktop, then connect the phone the same as before. NOW u have to put it in bootloader mode, do this by holding VOL down, reset, and the END (power) button. run the utility and follow the directions and you should have a sucessfully flashed phone. good luck from one noob to another!

Thanks for the info... i did the exactly what you stated and now I am enjoying the new look, but now my phone freezes every so often.... When trying to read my texts it freezes on the first text and then I can no longer go back to the main screen, unless I restart or power down. Any suggestions from anyone..... Also I am unable to up load mIq to my phone to reinstall my contacts and pics..... Thanks

After reflashing my HTC TP2 with a different ROM my fone is working GREAT! and the speed is incredible not to mention that the fone does not freeze any more..... AWESUM! thanks for your help.....defaultdotxbe
